Yes I know that tannins are good. I don't know exactly what comes out of this wood, but the smell wasn't very good either. I find alder cones and catappa leaf much safer.
Are backyard pinecones safe? How often do you re- landscape the terrarium? Annually? Biannually? Triannually? My beta lived 4 yrs (after purchase) in a filled 5 gal tank, is it sufficient? Your 10 gal tank appears to contain less than half capacity of water.
Some info: the brown water leaking from the wood are the same tannin as from the catappa leaves. It is completely safe and the smell you mentioned in another comment is just the normal smell of the wood, not pleasant but not toxic at all. Next time you can do like 3 water changes to keep the tannin and to remove the wood smell or as you mentioned just boil it. Amazing scape otherwise !
Soo true. Took a little time for my water to reach it's normal color again from the wood tannin. "But, learning it was safe, was "definitely a 😌 relief.
no offense but that rama twist root is just something from an obsolete planet it stinks whatever you do [no matter how much you soak it boil it........ughhh....
This is absolutely gorgeous and your editing skills are top notch!!! I had a betta years ago and now I am really wanting to get one again and give it a proper home like you have. I hate seeing them put in little glasses and vases and being used for flippant display. They are beautiful fish that deserve proper aquarium setups!
I love that you don’t focus only on aesthetic side in this video, but you truly consider and recreate all the conditions it has in it’s natural evironment, which are needed to keep the fishes healthy and happy, great work 👏
For anyone who sees the moss ball and wants to get one: make sure you either get them from a reputable seller or *thoroughly* check yours for zebra mussels, an extremely invasive and damaging species that have been spotting in moss balls a lot lately.
@@aylaktavsan they were banned from the entire country if I remember correctly, and I think it may be limited to one exporting country I don’t quite remember. My store had a couple come in with them, we took the salinity up to over 15ppt. You could taste the salt in the air.
@@mallorys2793 I’m not sure about Canada’s status on them because of the Zebra muscles, but they’ll likely be widely unavailable until the Russia Ukraine conflict is solved and Ukraine is able to resume its exportation of them. They were the major exporter of the plant. Japan has classified them as a protected species, thus limiting or even banning exporting them on a wide scale. From what I hear a lot of their’s sold in LFS’s are imported from Ukraine. I hope we get them back soon, they’re such a great plant.
Man, I've had my tank for about 1-2 years (20 gallon), and just had to get a new Betta. This is REALLY making me want to get a bigger setup for my guy. Wonderful job!
This was the one inspiration I needed today. Never even thought of gluing the wood near the rim for the houseplants. Great solution for nano ripariums!
Absolutely beautiful! I love how many plants that are but that is so open as well! I think I definitely have some inspiration on how to set up my second tank today!
Another amazing, though simple, tank. Just really like your style and I think even the biggest aquarium critics must admit that this makes for a fine addition to a living/office space.
I recently got a betta after being out of the aquarium hobby for several years and after doing research on bettas ive also learned that bettas prefer the murky type water. I love the setup, hopefully as the months go on mine will be just a pretty and natural looking 😊
I had a big experience with woods when I first time set my forest style aqua tank. I added water and waited for about two weeks with three or four times of water changing before I started to plant. I'm a little bit surprise to see you plant right after setting up.
I really enjoyed this video. I particularly enjoyed that it was a real experience of tanin leaching and wood slime most people don't show this and treat it a s a failure. I loved how your showed how to work with it. Your cinematography is stunning.
I really do love the tank, looks amazing; only thing I would say is that corydoras do prefer a fine sand due to them sifting through it to find food, as a result some can cut themselves on gravel and that obviously leaves them open to infection. It is a smooth gravel so not the worst thing, but I just wanted to let you know
I too have a small (45l) tank like that, but it's super old now (started in august 2017). But hey, my harlequin rasboras are still alive and active, those little beasts lol However, they're slowly getting cataract. I guess this is what it's like to get old. Your betta will live many years because it has a decent owner!
Always nice to see your gorgeous face. I admire your artistic scaping so much. I really find you to be one of the unique designers no matter the layout. I still love the wood scape that hangs over edge into tank and doesn’t even touch the substrate…easy to lift if needed but nothing contaminating the gravel/substrate. Leaves all that underneath area to view the fish you had…that’s my fave scape…..well until today maybe..lol Love from Perth, West Australia…Lisa
I just did a 5 gallon bowl for my white Betta, Casper. I used black/white slate stones and spider wood to support the roots of a peace lily and some small pearl weed and red undulata plants in the foreground. No filter only a heater a light for the plants. He loves it, biggest bubble nest I have ever had in a Betta tank.
You have so many great tanks with absolutely awesome ideas it´s always so relaxing to watch. The music, cutting the ambient what you are creating with it is just amazing 😀🙏

First and only video I've seen from you so far and I'm in love with your video style. The music is awesome and the cinematic shots of the plants and completed tank are beautiful! Your betta is absolutely stunning :)
I really liked the part where you spilled and it briefly read: always. Haha. This was over the top great in production value and content. Thank you so much!
Just to clear things up, tannins are not toxic to fish. Bettas, tetras, discus, angels, and shrimp thrive in acidic, tannic water.
Yes I know that tannins are good. I don't know exactly what comes out of this wood, but the smell wasn't very good either. I find alder cones and catappa leaf much safer.

@@emihayashi7725 no because they have sapp in them most likely, pine of anything isnt good for aquariums. Alder cones are different then pinecones
@@austinpoland4141 Thank you 🐠
Shrimp do not prefer acidic water, they do best in higher pH with more minerals than tannins in the water.

Never boil the wood!
The moment you bring up the plants for planting, heart fills with expectation & joy

Never heard of it, but thanks for the information!
I've even heard of them being banned in some states in USA as they can contain zebra mussels which are awful.
@@aylaktavsan they were banned from the entire country if I remember correctly, and I think it may be limited to one exporting country I don’t quite remember. My store had a couple come in with them, we took the salinity up to over 15ppt. You could taste the salt in the air.

I don't know what impresses me more about thecinescaper his aquascaping skills or the editing/filming. This guy B-roll is Hollywood stuff!

The maidenhair fern looks absolutely spot on for a set like this, and the maidenhair will love the water! Absolutely stunning work.

The cinematography deserves an excellent award. It's brilliant.
Design & production are NEXT level! Thx for the content 🙏🏻
I'm still a kid, but I hope to one day be able to make aquascapes as gorgeous as yours :)
it is never too early to start buddy! Wish you the best
nice to see a healthy 3 year old betta, mine is 3 years young as well...and i hope for some more years ;o)
i come back to this video every now and then, i think its one of my favourite scapes, gorgeous in its simplicity
That indian flute background music at the last surely is so pleasing and satisfying !
Loved the scape mate 😊❤
I love also those relaxing beats!

Thanks mate, I love when an aquarium is a real addition to a space!
Though simple…funny twat
that's a really good Feng-shui tank my friend.
"Wow!" What an amazing looking Aquarium. I know the Betta and his buddies are enjoying it.😄

Absolutely proper BGM. Waw. Even in late night i feel so fresh.
Thank you for giving such a wonderful home to your beautiful Betta!

Thanks a ton!
Also nice house/studio. It looks very peaceful and zen
I love nature and this one
I know this is an old video, but I love how you use stationary objects to provide commentary on your work !

@@sammora470 that the soil/ rocky ground is bad for the corydoras

The camera work and music is amazing as well... superb.
This guy scape 1 tank and its nicer than my 20 tanks i keep for 15 years lol
You sure build good aquariums!
Tranquil beauty. Perfection.
Great video as usual! It would be perfect without the Corydoras... They need fine sand and live in group of 6-8 minimum.
As well as 20g min

Absolutely love the Cory cats…hope I pronounced those rite. Absolutely beautiful setup!
I enjoy your videos very much. My favorite about how you edit, is that there is no talking. Looking forward to new videos.
