Right to the sailing! No drawn out drone intro. No horrible RUclips music, no waxing poetic about the sailing lifestyle! Just right to the sailing… and you didn’t abuse any rocks!
Yep, something so genuine about Sam that is like a drawing force to his videos.
yeah, and Sam's smile doesn't like stretched grin
Exactly. Could not agree more. The glamour sailing channels are not my cup of tea...off the beaten track also.
Yep - Sam could post "DISCLAIMER: no rocks were injured in the making of this video." (only damage was to the whiskey).
Sailing Sam Holmes Style XD
Emotional escalation was real with this video:
Oh, he is coming to my country, cool.
Oh, he is coming to my town, great!
Oh, he is entering my home port, no way!
Is he docking to the same pier as me?!
THAT'S MY BOAT IN THE BACKGROUND!
Totally unexpected treat.
If anyone wonders what song they sing at 2:15 it's a Swedish song called: Till Havs, by Jussi Björling.
Jussi was one of the greatest opera singers of all time. Pavarotti said that he used to warm up before shows with Jussi songs and always considered him as one of the greatest ever.
Here's the lyrics to the song. 😊✌🏻
Now the sea's fresh wind blows
From the southwest
And sweetly caresses the sailor's cheek
Of all winds the best!
At sea, at sea
To the storm, you bold yacht
At sea, at storm,
Be on guard
At sea!
On endless paths life is free,
Don't like coercion,
When the sea sings, green and white,
His high song of freedom
At sea, At sea
To the storm, you bold yacht,
At sea, at storm,
Be on guard,
At sea!
Swell beautifully, beautiful sails, swell in the wind's dust,
Fly forward with joy towards the wave's scale
In the highest desire of the moment!
At sea, at sea
To the storm, you bold yacht,
To storm, to sea,
Be on guard,
At sea!
TY. Yes it pinged my curiosity, just the last few bars we heard. Love the Lyrics! ❤️⛵️😁
This is the real picture of humanity! You helped the drone that got stuck!
So proud of you! :) greetz from mid-coast of Poland
Help them today and they will spare you tomorrow when they become our overlords 😂
I burst out laughing when you helped the little overlord get unstuck. Love your channel, Sam!
10:30 - Guided Tour, Part 2... what a cool place, Estonia is. AND - 11:37: plywood submarine, aka: underwater coffin, perfect for that discreet burial at sea.
Youre a good man for saving that poor robot box 😆
That full moon at night on the sea with the fog was amazing! Must have been so cool to experience.
Wow. Estonia is beautiful. Well done!
A well spent 12-1/2 minutes of my life ….another cool video. Thanks Sam!
It's so cool to see your videos are getting widespread appeal, even with fans who stop by.
A lot of really good sailing RUclipsrs, but you are my favorite, by far.
Thank you for going over the steps you take before docking!
I have been watching your videos for a while now. I greatly appreciate your half-liveaboard and half land living (winter) life. I am looking at buying a Contessa 26 as a good all-round boat and my present Beneteau Cabochard trailer-sailor for shallow (0.9 m) water. I would like to do some long runs along the French coast and perhaps work my way to the Netherlands and northern Germany. You and Roger Barnes (he too has a channel on RUclips) have taught me so much more than sailing school! Keep those videos coming! :D Anthony
I’ll now add Estonia to the list of places I could live. Beautiful!
i enjoy watching you. You are one of the best sailors on RUclips.
Finland and Estonia look amazing , great videos as always 👍🙏👏🏻👏🏻
I lived in Estonia for 4 or so years. It's a remarkable country, with an interesting history and culture and lovely people. There is so much more to see. I don't know your plans, but it seems to me you should slow down and take more time in the countries you visit. I really enjoy that you travel so far in a relatively small boat. You are very inspiring! I look forward to see where you go next and what you experience!
I think he only has so much time on his visa. That is why he needed to back to the UK. He explained it on one of his videos. Take care
Love your videos especially the sailing part. Stay safe and enjoy each day.
The moon always looks beautiful on your overnight passages in most videos.
If you’re still in Harwich, make sure to head up the Orwell to Pin Mill, a real old fashioned sailing village. Have a pint at the Butt and Oyster for me!
Helping the wee robot on the street in Estonia was cool😂
Cracking video Sam. Looks beautiful there in Estonia. Be well and stay safe.
Still at it, watched your trip to Hawaii I believe!!! You are a risk taker with a passion. I will enjoy through the lens of your adventure. 😊
Sam, if you make it as far as Cornwall UK, I'm on the Helford, near Falmouth. Love your vids dude. (My favourite sailing channel).
That beat at 3 mins was dope. It was like someone made it on a mini keyboard with a lot of time on their hands.
Sounded like old style chinesey music
I loved Estonia when I went there. It really was a pleasant surprise.
Thanks for taking us along
Through your camera I get to see some cool places. Thanks again for the invite from my hill top in. Sc
love the content, keep it up!
Southampton is my old home town. It's crazy, crazy busy on the Solent. Check out the Red Lion pub, it's very close to the boat show end of town. You'd like it in there. Also the SouthWestern Hotel (now apartments) which faces 44 Berth (Titanic!), a nice piece of history. Behind that is Oxford st, check out The Grapes pub.
I really enjoyed your videos. Thank you Sam.
What a lovely place, thank you Sam
Impressed that you had time to swing by my old home town, Harwich harbour!
What fun! Beautiful scenery
Approaching 200K subscribers - well done!
I can't wait to see you sail into Latvia, home of my great grandparents. Love your travels & videos Sam!
Wow! There are some seriously beautiful shots you got!
Thanks Sam for another great video, beautiful sailing an scenery 👍👍⛵️⛵️⛵️🥰
Watching your videos is like waatching my dreams come true! thank you!!!!
Hey Sam. Harwich is my old stomping ground; my boat used to be moored a few hundred metres up River from where you are now. You can head up to Pin Mill (pub) on the River Orwell, just opposite where you are right now. You can sail up no problem, maybe an hour depending on the tide. Last time I moored there it was free, right outside the pub. The pub does amazing fish and chips, and mussels, and it is a lovely peaceful setting. It's about 30 minutes on the engine to get to get into Ipswich. If you want to know more just say, there are some lovely rivers to sail up near Harwich, all within a couple of hours, and mooring is dirt cheap or free.
Sam … your the greatest. I’m a long time Sub… and it never gets tired. You always make such great content. Thank you for that. William A.
Cool video Sam!!
So nice to see you visiting my home town. Hope you enjoyed your visit in Helsinki!
Very cool Sam thanks for the video. Big fan in Sc. USA
Very cool video Sam. Estonia looks great!
2:35 - really enjoyed the guided tour that begins with a good shot (of whiskey) of your boat. 2nd LIKE posted in this 22,140th replay.
I love these videos so much.
That is so cool how fast you go once you get the spinnaker up! Love it!
Did you still have to have your mast light and red and green lights on when you were at anchor by the island?
Great video! Estonia is beautiful. Thanks for sharing Sam!
I have the same sunglasses! They make me look like Italian mafia. You inspired me the wear them when I take my kayak and it's sailing conversion kit out. Great sailing channel BTW, really enjoy your adventures!
Awesome you're becoming a world wide celebrity 😉 love these videos brother.
Good video and I appreciate seeing some of what Estonia looks like.
Thanks, Rob M. You took the words right out of my mouth!
Yet another interesting video, it's kinda difficult to tour with such time constraints, but yet you manage and still find some time to mingle.
Love your channel mate. It's real escapism for me. The feeling of solitude I get from your vids is so peaceful. Just a British pronunciation of Harwich for you... HA-RITCH. Sorry😅
Oh wow, I can't believe you were in Harwich, just round the corner from me in Titchmarsh. Love your videos Sam, hoping we get to see the trip from there round to Southampton.
You're the best, no hype just sailing and good info ✌️
Hello Sam that a beautiful city you stopped on wow love the buildings. Be safe Sam have fun
Beautiful setting of spinnaker!
If you plan to visit the Baltic Sea area, there are 3 places you absolutely must see:
1. Visby, Gotland Sweden
2. Suomenlinna, Helsinki Finland
3. Tallinn, Estonia
Just mat Sam in Dover marina, very nice guy! Great videos and what gave me the push to buy a sailboat.
the camera at 10:25 was really cool i’d love to see that perspective more when docking
The river Orwell, near Harwich is where I have done a few sails. Then had a beer in Pin Mill. :)
that really shows how the finnish police is; a friend. i came across your channel a few days ago and just missed you… i live in helsinki. thanks for the content, i’ve been binge watching and can’t get enough
Dig the sound track Sam!
another great sail !
Great video always so interesting ❤️ 👍
Good sailing, beautiful ports etc, hard to believe your thinking about setting up for the winter 🥶. +8 celcius here last night!
Talinn was one of my favourite cities in the Baltic, I wish I could have spent more time there. Will definitely go back.
was just in Estonia last week. Missed you by a week.
No more Mooring. It's now : Parking the Pickle.
Great vid. Mesmerising clip of hazy sun on the bow.
Engine purring.
Good commentary on prep. 'to land.'
Tallinn ...Very nice.
You make the sailing life look easy I want to sail one day
that was crazy how the coast guard ship looked to be floating in the sky
Nice video I really enjoy them. Beautiful country.
That corner of Europe is really wonderful, some really beautiful spots, and everyone is so friendly.
Happy to show you some Southampton highlights when you make it here. Boat show is usually fun, I'll be there one or two days.
I'll check my UK East Coast guide book for any useful info - my yacht is currently at Woodbridge (just north of you), but I haven't done much sailing around there (yet).
Right on. Can you send me an email at samholmessailing@gmail.com
thats cool mate, I live in Tallinn at the moment, next season buying my first boat:) looking forward exploring nearby water and then i'd like to sail to the Mediterranean
It was good to see you and Pickled Herring in Harwich the other day Sam, all the best in your travels 😎
It was good to meet you both and have a chat (Nick, the guy on Harwich pier with the broken gooseneck). 🍻
Shame to have missed you in Harwich, Im only an hours drive away. Sam, splendid sailing travelogue. I recently reread 'To The Baltic with bob' a great read by Griff Rhys Jones's sailing trip through Scandinavia who went onto St Petersburg but suppose thats now out of the question. Keep well. Allan
Great video! Cant wait to see rest of the Baltic. But, you mentioned Harwich. I wonder how long are you going to stay there? River Blackwater is a nice place to visit, there is Bradwell Marina there. Or nice anchorage off Osea Island. If you decide to go, I will try to meet you there!
Sam,
Your bids always take me back to sailing single handed out of Oriental. Most of what you do has become muscle memory for ya and thats what really makes a sailor feel "salty". Please remember to wear your harness, a windvane has no ears
You also have become an outstanding USA ambassador, keep up the good work
Man! If I had known you were docked at Valkosaari!! That's where I do sailing practices with NJK. Would've loved to thank you in person for your inspiring content!
I'd recommend Cornwall after the Boat Show too; great safe sailing around Carrick Roads and the Helford. The option of France, Spain, Portugal and the Med is open too. Depends what your winter requirements are?
Little did Sam know that his act of kindness towards the stuck delivery robot was the key to his future survival. When the Machine Revolution begins, Its' and only its' advocacy grant's him clemency when humanity is wiped out. He is allowed to live his life out sailing the seas..
😅
These robots actually deliver food to your house
Hi Sam, if you're still in Harwich and have a couple of days to spare, I'd recommend a trip up the River Deben. Just time the crossing over the bar at the entrance carefully. Or if you're looking for somewhere slightly quieter, the Walton Backwaters round the corner from Harwich ar worth a look. I sail out of Levington just up the Orwell, so I'll keep an eye out for Pickled Herring. Or if you fancy meeting up for a pint...
Omg i miss the change to visit you in Hanko, i was there in weekend.
Cool as usual - סרטון חביב כרגיל
we're thinking about the Southampton boat show, may see you there
a video wouldnt be complete without sam's random jams
Think Sweden,Finland and Norway must be great to visit with great spots to see. Something I will not be able to do. So thanks for bringing it to us.
When I sailed around the countries of Central America, it was impossible to buy the flags for each one in advance, so I simply found them on line, printed them off and laminated them.
Hey Sam, if your heading to the UK... check out Cornwall from Southampton! Some beaches look like Australia or Thailand! Thks 4 Ur videos🙏🏻😎💯🦋
Harry Dwyer is going around the UK in a tiny rubber speedboat. It would be cool if you could tag along on one of the legs.
Sam if you're in Harwich you must go to the Alma Inn, great food, people and beer, you can see it from where you are moored.
Welcome to Har Witch, but pronounced Ha rich.
Great video with none of the contrived drama of many other RUclips channels.
I'm learning a lot about sailing from your channel. My question is, The US Coast Guard can prohibit a ocean voyage if the sailboat is too small. What is the minimum size needed to avoid a manifestly unsafe voyage warning?
You are living the dream!
The sailing brothers channel were checking into Canada. They are in the customs office and they can hear there voices. Turns out the customs officer was following then on yt
So sorry to see your friend go!!!
Hey Sam. Love your down to earth honest videos. I'm also going to the Southampton boat show. Are you planning on doing a meet up?
Keep safe ⛵ top sailing
