  • In today's video my sister joins me as we make guveche (a traditional Bulgarian dish). It's essentially a meaty, cheesy, tomato(ey) casserole in a clay pot. Perfect for winter! I really love Bulgarian cuisine so please suggest some more food from Bulgaria we should try.

    Guys if you've never made guveche (foreigners in BG or abroad) give this a try. It's very quick an simple. I used the word Bivolsko when talking about the meat and cheese which simply means water buffalo (for non BG speakers). You can use any white cheese, feta or salami if you can not get real Bulgarian stuff (although Bulgarian is best haha).

      A total cost of guveche for two - 50leva in products alone. You’re better off eating it in a restaurant.

    • @ChadandJamal
      @ChadandJamal  3 года назад +3

      @@egukoucu What are you on about? It was no where near that and we still have a load of the ingredients. That's an outright lie. Costs for an individual guveche are around 5-8 leva depending on the products.

    •  3 года назад +1

      @@egukoucu 50 leva is far too much. But even if it is more expensive than eating AT a reastaurant, you may be willing pay for the pleasure of cooking it by yourself.

      I adore your enthusiasm! Few things: 1. It would be great if you add fried champignons. 2. Add, as well carrots. 3. Add sweet pepper. For the last two no need to cook or fry them.

    Rhyes, pre-heating your oven when using a clay pot is a big no-no buddy. Always put it in cold oven, otherwise it may pop from the sudden change in ambient temperature.
    Cheers!

    Hello :)
    Next time u decide to cook this, if u still have no cover for the clay pots, make sure to cover them with aluminum foil. It will still keep the heat inside, working on that egg, preventing you from overcooking it. And, if u use row tomatoes, you should let them cook with the meal, before adding the egg, as someone mentioned bellow.

    You should cook them on the top shelf as its hotter. And put tin foil on the top when cooking. You should warm the bread in the oven.

    I think that you will also enjoy making a принцеса (yes, it means a princess). :) It also uses кашкавал (kashkaval) that melts beautifully on top of it. The принцеса could have шунка (shunka) as an optional ingredient. Then, you can eat it together with айрян (ayryan), but make sure that you make the айрян by yourself using 30-50% кисело мляко "Димитър Маджаров" (kiselo mlyako "Dimitar Madjarov") with at least 3% fat mixed with 50-70% water. Optionally, you may add some salt and/or finely ground garlic to the айрян to give it a more spicy taste.

    Man, this recepy looks far too complicated. The mixture of so many ingredients will ruin the taste of it, especially adding lyutenica i dont think is a good idea, as it has very strong taste. But anyway, great video as always...
