so dear Quill. because of you this is my 4th day in this game. everybody talks how easy and fun and lucrative exploring is. I decided to try it out.
today I almost got stuck in a wormhole of a wormhole of a wormhole.... of! a wormhole. no ruins or data things in sight. somebody tried to kill me but was surprised that I got away so started conversation and helped me get out of the maze to some known space. and then! on my 25-jump journey "home" somebody else with red skull and bad attitude in 0,4 security system blew 1/2 of my shields off with one shot. I got away again! lucky.
I think it has been enough excitement for this newb today. I will go mine something in some 0,8 or 0,9 zone and kill some pirates.
very very Dwarf-Fortr-ish kind of fun!
    thank you. :)

I love the slight horror feeling of picking up an enemy ship on your directional scanner. I always think about if they saw me and know where I am. I think this might be the same feeling that submarines have when they spot something, you both can kill each other but you don't know if they see you

Hi Quill! Thanks for reminding me of Eve Online. I played it a lot back in 2010, when it wasn't f2p. After watching your tutorial, I reinstalled it and tried out the exploration. In the past, I mostly did mining, crafting and researching, so I didn't have a lot of experience in exploration. First day I got some 10 million ISK loot and got destroyed afterwards. Second day, I got 40 million and immediately warped away. Might have been luck that there was another player there and the NPCs targeted him instead. It was really exciting and I think I'll do more of that. I did have to buy some gametime for training skills, because I already have 9 million skill points xD

Never realized how important D-scan is, and today it saved my arse as I watched more and more combat probes showing up in an ever-smaller scan range -- once I saw all 8 under 5AU I started moving to warp just as a -10 jetted within a 1000m of me. If I hadn't seen the signs and started warping early I'd be a goner. Actively adjusting your range is a great way keep situational awareness

Also, as you were talking about ships being cheap, I remembered a bit of advice I heard somewhere, “only fly what you can afford to lose”. Like you said, it’s not necessarily the best idea to jump in the biggest baddest ship you can fly, especially if it’s super expensive.

    „Ooh baby, a data site!“
This has been, how can I say... eye-opening! During the career missions, figuring out how to actually use the probes to find the training sites was difficult enough (but still rewarding to figure out by myself). When scanning for anomalies later on, I didn’t know how to move the probes to increase that percentage. I assumed that my equipment or skills weren’t good enough. Seeing this video makes me very excited to try it again!

  • @leshatcatski5089
    @leshatcatski5089 5 лет назад +1

29:25 : "Covert research facility" (aka "ghost site") and "sleeper cache". Ghost sites can be done in a basic ship if you're fast enough and know the "triggers", for the sleeper caches, it's probably better to wait until you can pilot an exploration cruiser (Stratios or any T3)
Also, the hacking difficulty doesn't depend on the site level, but on the can level (green, orange and red cores). The site level determines the proportion of easy and difficult cans.

Just a quick correction on the capacitor part. when quill said it leaves your battery full thats not really what happens. Capacitor power (like shield btw) recharge on their own and they have a peak regen at 33% (when they are above or bellow this value they are not "max regening" (individual ship stats). when quill was stable it has a 34.3% next to it. This means your "battery" will stabiize at 34.3% (very close to peak regen). This is usefull because u now know that a module (that can be activated by other players or RATS (mostly on Wormholes) on you that anulls or drains power since both exist) will almost surely make you not be stable.
note that beeing stable is great for pve tough . just wanted to add this here for correction of for any1 that wants to know more. :D
and keep up the awsome content quill18! glad your helping bring in fresh blood :D

I have some experience with scanning and I have a few tips. First of, you should stay close to your exit point (a stargate or your entrance wormhole) so if anyone will warp to you (in low sec systems this means they want to destroy you 99% of the time) you will escape before they'll be able to do so.
And secondly I found that while scanning you should lower the scanning area by two steps each time you get results (for example if you get result by scanning with 16 AU radius the next step would be 4 AU, then 1 and finally 0,25). If you fail to detect anything increase scanning area by one step (from 4 to 8 AU etc.). Good luck! :)

I thought I would give it another try. Been doing some exploration (just high-sec for now - not going anywhere crazy since I only have about 2 mil. isk). Anyway, I have explored about 4 hours, scanned about a hundred signatures, and have found nothing but worm holes and combat sites. Yet to find anything else. Once I can earn some more isk, maybe I will give a wormhole a try. But like the first time I played, I find I am starting to get bored since I am not finding anything. I have much more fun in Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen. At least with 4 hours of work, I have something to show for it in those games.

12:25 beign capstable doesn't mean you will have a full battery, you'll be capstable at a certain level, because cap regen isn't linear : there is a peak at about 25% (iirc), and then it slowly decreases. The cap stability level is shown when you hover the cap icon in the fitting screen.

2 things I would like to see in future EVE videos. Quill does more exploration sites. And some new people might want to see an Epic Arc mission (could be a few episodes worth)

You can second click in space to get all orbitals/bookmarks and other stuff to warp. You don´t actually need to go into people and places other then to organize bookmarks and whatnot. Edit: while exploring in low/null sec a bookmark 150 km from gates (if you have the chance to do it, no enemioes in d-scan i.e.). Like that you can warp to the bookmark to check if gate is safe. If it is you can warp from the bookmark directly to the gate. Minimum warp distance is 150 km (or used to be). Also 49:23...i love you Quill but you freaking Cherry Picker. Never leave one or 2 containers like that bcuz of spawns.

One suggestion, i do hate the inventory window layout you have, why don't you change to icons display? It's way more easier and understandable while watching it on youtube. The settings are on top right of the inventory window.

Thank you for your amazing guides. This one really got me to try the game. This is my journey so far after my first day. I completed the exploration career agent. I then decided to take my Heron i received, decked it out (staying within being able to buy everything back if i died) and began an adventure. I've been through 10 systems, some high sec some mid sec, and 3 worm holes. I found one valuable site within this time. It was a Data site, and I got EXCITED!! I went in at 100km and there were patrols guarding it. I then decided to go all in and use my guns, with in 4 second i was les then 20% health left and already spamming to warp out to my staging bookmark. I barely made it out, I then retreated back to the previous system and docked for repairs. It was then time to log off because its like SUPER late, or early, how every you see it lol.
Even though i received no loot, and almost died, this was amazing!! I think after years of being intimidated by the learning curve, I may finally be getting into the game, like really into it. Thank you for the amazing guides, without them I may of never had this first of many adventures.

20:07 -- 'out' is relative; I realize it's a bit of a complex topic for a tutorial, but to provide some additional information.. (disclaimer: this may be a bit out of date..)
Wormhole systems have levels. It's entirely possible for a wormhole you came through from hisec to close behind you and for the only remaining ones to go even deeper into more dangerous w-space. There will always be a path out of w-space, but it might require quite a lot of hunting through some dangerous areas to find. Always bookmark wormholes on both sides with useful names (there are websites where you can look up w-space system names that will tell you how dangerous they are), and always scan down all the wormholes in a system before you do anything else. Know the exits and keep them well-marked when (not if) you have to GTFO.

Thanks for the series, please organise a public fleet so we can die in a glorious blob. Also, basic solo skills is good, but showing us that the community side of EVE is the most exciting is probably better. And it doesn't need to be huge battles : you actually have far more fun in small and mid-scale engagements than in TiDi slugfests between powerblocs. I'm sure there are plenty of corps that would be willng to show you PvP and let you join their fleets/gangs, and showing that would be awesome.
It's amusing for an EVE player to see you in this very special universe with all your canadian and positive attitude (c'est mignon), and it's true that a lot of peaople play the game that way and don't care about the clash of titans in nullsec or whatever. Still some approximations or confusions in what you're saying, but EVE is confusing, sometinmes. For example, watch Jin'taan series on different weapons types and the formulas involved to understand that you need to learn to take a lot of element into account if you want to "succeed" in the game

.. and now you've completed both the Industrial and Exploration Career Agent missions??
.. one or two of the signatures in your home system might be real ( combat or exploration )
.. as there is a command to recover probes -- I don't think recovery is automatic. and it's better to take 16 probes. the Probe Launcher will autoload from the cargo hold while you retrieve the ones you have been using to scan the system you're in

The first time I ever entered wormhole space, I did so in a Tengu Strategic Cruiser (Tech level 3). I encountered some Sleepers and dealt with them. Then I noticed another player warp within about 100 km of me. I have no idea whether they were friendly or not, as I mashed that warp button as quickly as possible (I was already aligned to a safe spot). Sure, I lost my drones and probably a few million ISK worth of loot, but there was no way I was going to risk such an expensive ship. Back then I had more ISK than brains. All future excursions into wormhole space were made either in a frigate, or a Covert Ops frigate (still expensive, but nowhere near as expensive as a Strategic Cruiser).

That was/is very important to my present situation, as i'm out of ammo and for some weird reason can't obtain it. Maybe i missed it but i failed to catch the buying and selling phase of your tutorial.
... Specifically .... I ran out of light blaster ammo and need to buy some. However; somehow, i blew isk on light blaster hardware but didn't receive it and still haven't any ammo.
how do i fix this? i have spent literally hours trying to complete this task. any help is appreciated. i am new to the game and have not finished the first set of quest'. thanks to anyone with info.

Power grid has nothing to do with modules being activated or not, its just a limitation on what you fit.
The "power" in the name is nothing to do with the "power" in your capacitor, which you use and recharge to activate stuff.
