To go along with your point about low priced VBR headsets, use desktop computers as an example and imagine a world where no one bought them until they were "good". I think the Quest line has done a lot to keep VR afloat and in 10 years we'll look back on it the way we look back on the Commodore 64 and other early computers. A necessary step towards the future.
The thing I'm most worried about regarding the kids joining from Roblox is them stumbling into adult spaces (i.e. VRC Drinking Night) and seeing or hearing things they shouldn't. The standalone aspect wasn't essential to me trying out VR and getting hooked. I still mostly play PCVR on my Quest2. The price point and inside out tracking certainly were necessary though. If not for the price reaching a point where I could take a risk (not having tried VR since clunky mid '90s arcade machines), and the convenience of inside out tracking, I'd still be waiting for VR to reach a level of accessibility that made it feasible. No idea about Robolox, but I'm fine with kids growing the VR space. That will secure it's future in terms of interest, development and the market. I've had kids using my headset from the ages of 3, although in a very limited fashion, never online content and never without constant supervision with streaming to a TV. It terms of content, Minecraft seems to be their favourite app, followed by Beat Saber, VR animations like the Tales from Soda Island series and Tilt Brush.
Glad for more folks coming to enjoy VR, however Roblox as big as it is isn't in itself something to be celebrated. I would love to see your take when they come to the ER on their exploited in nature and what it means for the medium. I'm glad for the people I'm not happy about the company, especially with the trend for smaller companies to follow in lockstep with what bigger companies are doing.
I always love the content and news, watching every week. If I may ask, what game are you playing the background with the pistol and force-like powers??? Looks really good
havent watched for a while and just clicked onto this video and saw a tuesday newsday on a thursday, wtf??? i thought it was on wednesdays what happened 😭😭
As someone who is in VRChat regularly, I would be glad to see more Quest kids flocking to a different space. It's also probably a lot more appropriate for them.

@@OverbiteGameswmr is fine, for me tracking was quite good even on odyssey+ with two cameras, worse than Vive a bit, but nothing critical. And hp reverb 2 has 4 cameras - it could be comparable to quest 2? Haven't had the chance to try it yet. And greater resolution too. No idea what you're going by, when you say wmr is awful.
Roblox in vr also means more different genres of games on quest because more kids equals more kid focused games (platformers, adventure, puzzlers) so we finally can have more than just shooters.
For question of the week: Do you think the Valve Deckard, whenever it comes out, will be able to run all of the Steam library, including non-VR titles, in virtual reality. Is that even possible?
On a flat floating screen like you seen on the AppleVision reveal that's the only way, it can't just create stereoscopic 3D visuals by itself without game development
I’ve been wanting to play Roblox on VR for a very long time now, though my PC can’t handle it. I’m extremely happy that after TONS of waiting, I’ll finally be able to play the game I’ve loved for so many years.
Roblox hitting VR is gonna be underwhelming (at launch atleast), they only have like a couple VR supported experiences, but I suppose this could help carve a market for it. We'll see where this goes, especially after ARES drops, definitely gonna keep my eyes on it. also WTH is that golden apple headset 😂 that thing had me chuckling for the rest of that segment. Thanks for the weekly update Thrill! 👍
@@striderwhiston9897 thats not my point, yea they have VR support, no shit. what I'm more annoyed about its the lack of actual content on roblox, very few games work with VR... by this I mean actual use of tracked controllers, and with that small set of games that actually work with VR, it lacks, ALOT, in polish and content. and yea we can use this excuse for the rest of the VR market, but still, I have standards. now I am curious what you mean by "already a ton of VR games on roblox" because I can name tops of 15, and most of those are jank.
Annd.... we now know why Meta lowered the minimum age requirement to use the headset. Remember folks, these decisions are not always because there's proven to be no harm, its "because money"
You should make a video addressing kids or teens on how they can convince their parents in getting them a Quest 3 this Christmas by showcasing productivity apps for homework and studying.
SonyVerse could be a huge hit, since we have no social apps & would be our only option. Checkmark ticks? Realism, a user friendly experience.........legs....
@@stormvr1070 There's a lot of things VR chat could do better imo, like the user interface is kind of confusing at first, and you could making it easier to create or customize an avatar. Also I'd appreciate integration with Discord and RUclips so I can keep up with people who aren't in VR and listen to music or whatever (things I normally do while playing games on PC). Would be cool if you could invade someone's PC like Bonsai Buddy and walk around their desktop, so you in VR can invade the "real world". Overall I feel like VR is a completely separate world and my attachments to my current world (earth) make it difficult to commit to having the headset on for hours. Also VR Chat feels like there's a too much to do and also nothing to do sometimes, so it would be good if there was a way to sort worlds via what you do in them. That way I could filter out the worlds that are mostly just empty bedrooms, or houses, or cafes. I know there are mods for some of this stuff to work better, but I feel like VR should be more of a seamless experience between putting on a headset and connecting with friends.
Hey, Roblox developer here. I'd like to add that Roblox has an age guidelines system for different ages. Recently Roblox released the 17+ guideline, which can only be accessed by proving your age with a government ID. If you don't want to play video games with kids, you don't have to. Anyhow, my experience of VR development with Unity has shown me how early on VR is. The process with the Meta Quest 2 and game development, it takes quite a while. There's tons of misconceptions in the general public, the only way for people to know is to try it themselves.
Qotw: after having a quest 2 for a long time, have you gotten any stick drift and or found a solution for it? Stick drift is one of the biggest reasons I use my headset less and less because it makes the headset feel like junk. Do you think meta made an oversight or an intentional choice? Edit: I’ve tried all fixes I’ve heard so far, but still to no avail. I’ve had a can of wd40 contact cleaner for a while and used it multiple time the drift always comes back. It’s so bad that even with the dead zone at the max I still find scrolling in menus all but impossible and running in games a nauseating mess. At this point I’m more just interested in other people’s thoughts and experiences.
I have a solution that works for me. 1 remove the batterys, the face plate (the black thing that surrounds the joy stick and buttons), and then the black part of the joystick (the thing you touch). 2 Add some electronic cleaner, such as wd-40 special contact cleaner around the joy stick. 3 move the joystick in circles and repeat steps 1 and 2 about 3 times. 4 dry for 10-20 minutes (or more) 5 reattach the battery, faceplate, and joystick. 6 check for drift (I use the setting that allows you to change the deadzone for more accuracy) and repeat all steps if drift persist.
@rilijohnmichael Yea, it's the same for me. The deadzone settings can show if it is drifting. If you do it right then you shouldn't need to rase the deadzone.
It's $3500. There will be no "insane demand". It's highly unlikely anyone that plans to buy one, will have an issue finding one, even at 100,000 units.
0:23 seconds If you go on Chillout VR, you can meet DragonSkyRunner (he's on for some hours every night) and he has a FULL interactable prop on his homemade 'HADES WIDEBODY' VR headset if you wanna look at it's inerds. All he wanted was a full featured, wide FOV headset with full face/eye tracking and the industry just would not build it. So he did XD. He's been working on it for ages and I'm glad to see you show it in your intro at least.
More kids in VR is great. The thing with kids is that they don't stay kids forever. So it'll increase the future pool of user, developers, modders, etc.
How come we can have a Quest 2 or Pico 3 but we can't have more headsets like the Bigscreen Beyond except cheaper? Why are PCVR headsets so bulky and expensive? They seem pretty simple to make compared to a Quest or Pico
The hate for the Q2 is insane from a HW perspective considering it was basically the only wifi enabled headset for years until the PICO came out. I wish they made a wireless inside out tracked valve headset, but they don't and nobody seems to be trying aside from Meta.
5:30 , there is a short clip of the racing game split second. Very confused since it had nothing to do with VR or roblox but glad to see a game that I genuinely enjoyed when it released getting it's split second recognition (pun intended)
9:13 something really fucking funny to me about apple going "with our new immersive feature people can see yours Eyes" and a case that came out before the fucking headset went "hide your eyes."
Not gonna lie, while I agree with the experience that VR will bring to a new generation, I'm also worried for them, because of how much more immersive VR is. FNAF games scarred me from when I was a child until 16, now imagine a kid getting a VR for Roblox, then any horror game, or even good ones on Roblox, and getting scarred from those experiences way more than I did because of the enhanced immersion. Add to that the fact that the only reasonable method of communication in VR at the moment is voice chat due to keyboard messages just not making sense, and it adds another layer of possible things going wrong, such as Roblox enabling voice chat for VR users regardless of age; massive disaster in days, simply because the internet is fairly cruel. It's not their experience and presence that bothers me, it's the possibility of this new generation going through worse experiences than the ones I tried on my own skin. Hopefully VR Roblox gets good parental control, and parents that can afford a VR will actually be responsible enough!
@@housemousemain I never said that video games cause violence, and horror games definitely do leave a certain mark depending on what they are. Nobody can "debunk" something I've experienced myself, I know it's real because I've tried it myself, because FNAF really scarred me for a long time, making me feel anxious and making me sleep less for _years_ as a child.
could you talk about app sharing being broken it looks like there are several people having problems and it seems to have gotten worse in v55 (the problem started for me in v55 but it looks like there were some people who had problems before) When I delete and re-add the secondary account the problem is fixed temporarily but then after some reboots it doesn't work again
roblox will probably be very hectic especially with all the different headset's controls the earbuds are a really cool idea but I can see it activating accidentally when you are talking
A big new game is coming and yet I couldn’t care less, all I want is echo, that’s why I have my headset, it’s what I looked forward to at the end of the day, it was where I made great friends, I’m making an echo tribute video of my story, and what the game meant to me, hopefully we as a community echo vr and vr as a whole can use this tragedy to slam meta, so that nothing like this ever happens again
As an Altspace refugee, who lost their special community-place with no reason I feel for you. I think loyal audience and, creators and enthusiasts should be protected at all costs. Companies should prioritize these things better. They can let us support our servers. It's just like you wanna go home to your tribe, but you can't no more. So sad.
7:10 I'm honestly on the side of this guy. If there's going to be less restrictions on age for Quest, at the same time of introducing a slew of children into the market / community. Games like VRC (and other mature esc titles) should up there requirements on age, i.e. increase their restrictions. On that note there could be the thing that Roblox is where most of them will go, but it's fair to say that overflow from Roblox into these other titles is sure to happen. Idk about y'all but I don't want to be playing with 10 y/o's
It's crazy to me that no one understands what a big deal meta on Roblox is. Roblox is the 'RUclips' of gaming. Thrill calls it a game, but it's no more a game than RUclips is a movie. Content Creation on Roblox is extremely accessible, but deep enough to make experiences that genuinely compete with external indie/AA games. All while being lucrative for the creators, entirely free, with built in multiplayer. This change is more like Steam workshop: VR edition. If you've never enjoyed a VR Chat minigame or social experience, just know that Roblox is capable of a thousandfold more. It's a very legitimate game engine with nearly no mechanical limits. I've been using the tool for well over a decade and there are still tools that I see developers yet to use. For instance, its physics engine is too complex for the average Roblox developer to implement in their gamemodes, but it has better replicating physics than any other game engine in existence. No one uses it, but DAMN will it change how immersive multiplayer social games will be.
when i played roblox on pcvr, i noticed that most games kinda suck unless the game explicitly supports it. but games that explicitly support it are actually really nice. the documentation for the vr api (i looked at it before) on roblox really sucks though so i think for most games it's more trouble than it's worth to implement vr.
8:12 THANK YOU!! I’ve been gaming since 2004 with the original Xbox and just mute/block annoying people. It’s not hard and instantly silences children lol
5:39 the game your showing in Roblox in that part of the clip is called starscape and sad story it’s dying even though it’s a great game kinda like the old roblox game galaxy if you played that before but has factions space station AI pirates and evil robots and more but has a small player base and it’s been dwindling because of slow updates and not really being able to give the community what it wants and other stuff
God no, VR should be a atleast 13+ activity, otherwise we'll get kids just growing up in VR not experiencing the real world. Its already happened with phones, vr is the next step in reality disconnect. And if kids DO play it it should be heavily limited to 1 hour a day.
If the quest three launched this year I highly doubt that a lot of people would be buying it because Christmas was nay to long ago and Christmas is also right around the corner and most people would most likely get the quest two
The face twitching input looks cool, but for me it also conjures up dystopian images of people wearing hmds and not moving except for these face twitching that has been burned into their brain since childhood

One of the best question of the week section. So glad thrill is still here giving it all to the vr space
I thought roblox already was on vr. I vividly remember playing theme park tycoon 2 on my old HTC vive a few years back.
on PC VR it is, but proper compatibility isnt natively supported
Bouta be so many more screaming kids in VR
I always love the content and news, watching every week. If I may ask, what game are you playing the background with the pistol and force-like powers??? Looks really good
Synapse its a psvr2 exclusive
and ty for all the news that you give us i wouldn’t have known anything without you
my first thought when i hear "hello..." was matpat saying "hello internet and welcome back to..."
havent watched for a while and just clicked onto this video and saw a tuesday newsday on a thursday, wtf??? i thought it was on wednesdays what happened 😭😭
Days don’t actually exist.
@@ThrillSeekerVR That's a bold statement.
@@betterjustice6697 nah it's a pretty italicized statement
As someone who is in VRChat regularly, I would be glad to see more Quest kids flocking to a different space. It's also probably a lot more appropriate for them.
QOTW: "How come we can have a Quest 2 or Pico 3 but we can't have more headsets like the Bigscreen Beyond except cheaper? Why are PCVR headsets so bulky and expensive? They seem pretty simple to make compared to a Quest or Pico"
That thumbnail is so epic! So is Roblox coming to VR.
Thanks Jasmine!!!
VR is moving on the bigger and better things who would have thought it would have grown so much over such a short period of time
“Halo 3, MW2, and RuneScape” that one hit deep, nostalgic favorites
For question of the week: Do you think the Valve Deckard, whenever it comes out, will be able to run all of the Steam library, including non-VR titles, in virtual reality. Is that even possible?
Lol no bro it's not possible
On a flat floating screen like you seen on the AppleVision reveal that's the only way, it can't just create stereoscopic 3D visuals by itself without game development
Non VR games would have to be on what is essentially a monitor within a virtual space. Think Immersed and the like.
at this point we not even tryin to make tuesday newday happen
I’ve been wanting to play Roblox on VR for a very long time now, though my PC can’t handle it. I’m extremely happy that after TONS of waiting, I’ll finally be able to play the game I’ve loved for so many years.
I couldn't care less about Roblox, however this will potentially bring MANY people into VR so that's cool
Roblox hitting VR is gonna be underwhelming (at launch atleast), they only have like a couple VR supported experiences, but I suppose this could help carve a market for it. We'll see where this goes, especially after ARES drops, definitely gonna keep my eyes on it.
also WTH is that golden apple headset 😂
that thing had me chuckling for the rest of that segment.
Thanks for the weekly update Thrill! 👍
Roblox is 1 of the biggest games there is......but it's mostly kids so not sure how popular a VR version will be
Already a ton of VR games on Roblox lmao
Full VR support was implemented like half a decade ago.
@@striderwhiston9897 thats not my point, yea they have VR support, no shit. what I'm more annoyed about its the lack of actual content on roblox, very few games work with VR... by this I mean actual use of tracked controllers, and with that small set of games that actually work with VR, it lacks, ALOT, in polish and content. and yea we can use this excuse for the rest of the VR market, but still, I have standards.
now I am curious what you mean by "already a ton of VR games on roblox"
because I can name tops of 15, and most of those are jank.
It needs VR-dedicated players.
@@_spacemadnessI mean you can still play games that don't use vr support I played mm2 in vr
excited for ARES to come out on roblox and I'm glad roblox is getting more vr support!
Annd.... we now know why Meta lowered the minimum age requirement to use the headset. Remember folks, these decisions are not always because there's proven to be no harm, its "because money"
You should make a video addressing kids or teens on how they can convince their parents in getting them a Quest 3 this Christmas by showcasing productivity apps for homework and studying.
You are my favourite youtuber plz keep making epic content❤
YES I WILL DO THAT
the all caps XD
@@universebow I HAVE TO MAKE SURE THEY KNOW IM SERIOUS.
@@ThrillSeekerVR YEA I THINK YOU ARE BEING SERIOUS
I'm actually excited for Roblox because besides all the bad crappy games on the front page of the game. There's actually good stuff.
Question: What do you think a competitor to VR Chat would have to do to become the new VR Chat?
SonyVerse could be a huge hit, since we have no social apps & would be our only option. Checkmark ticks? Realism, a user friendly experience.........legs....
There's already 2. Neos and ChillOutVr. Problem is, there's already VRChat, so why bother. It has everything people want.
At this point I’m more just interested in other people’s thoughts and experiences.
they have to keep the price down somehow and to be fair the controllers are pretty good for the price
4 dry for 10-20 minutes (or more)
5 reattach the battery, faceplate, and joystick.
6 check for drift (I use the setting that allows you to change the deadzone for more accuracy) and repeat all steps if drift persist.
@@goldenbanana7250Can confirm, this actually fixes it 👍🏾👍🏾
@@goldenbanana7250 Mine has done it twice this is what i do everytime and it always works. Don't even need to change deadzones.
@rilijohnmichael Yea, it's the same for me. The deadzone settings can show if it is drifting. If you do it right then you shouldn't need to rase the deadzone.
They should make a Roblox 2 with an updated engine. It would rock the world of gaming if done right.
So you don't think Roblox is "rocking" the world enough already?
It's 200 mill ACTIVE users. It's quite nuts!!!

I can imagine getting spooked and your pico headset goes into recovery mode
More kids in VR is great. The thing with kids is that they don't stay kids forever. So it'll increase the future pool of user, developers, modders, etc.
the fact that you included the Trevor Wallace Apple users skit was such a great touch lol.
I just noticed the little beep when you start your controllers in the intro. Thats awesome!
Nobody can "debunk" something I've experienced myself, I know it's real because I've tried it myself, because FNAF really scarred me for a long time, making me feel anxious and making me sleep less for _years_ as a child.
i was updating a steam game while watching this and the button turned green at the exact time the outro music started
Roblox in vr will be hype !
When will he say “Thursday nursday” 😢
If LabWorks is a Bonelab mod that works perfectly fine on Quest 2, then what's stopping games like Boneworks from being released onto the Quest?
Because bonelab physics engine is an upgraded and optimized version while boneworks was specifically made for pcvr
Pretty sure lab works optimises large levels like streets for q2
could you talk about app sharing being broken
it looks like there are several people having problems and it seems to have gotten worse in v55 (the problem started for me in v55 but it looks like there were some people who had problems before)
When I delete and re-add the secondary account the problem is fixed temporarily but then after some reboots it doesn't work again
1:31 my dad has taught me how to move my ears, guess its finally coming in handy now
Reminder this is the same guy who was convinced Bonelab was going to be game changing
That sad moment when you put on the Vision Pro Caviar edition only to realize none of your virtual friends can see your dripped out headgear.
roblox will probably be very hectic especially with all the different headset's controls
the earbuds are a really cool idea but I can see it activating accidentally when you are talking
I think it’s funny that so many people forget about the mute button on games
Every time I hear the intro I'm just like "Wait what? How did my controller turn on..."
Anytime I hear the words "neural" and "VR" in the same sentence it sets off my SAO trigger 😂. A lot of cool stuff this video!
If they solve the problem of opening SteamVR every time you start Roblox, it would be a BIG advance for science

Roblox has actually had a lot of be games before this and a lot of potential for be. I’m glad people are finally starting to realize.
Your videos make me so happy . Keep up the good work bro .😊😊😊
when i played roblox on pcvr, i noticed that most games kinda suck unless the game explicitly supports it. but games that explicitly support it are actually really nice. the documentation for the vr api (i looked at it before) on roblox really sucks though so i think for most games it's more trouble than it's worth to implement vr.

I knew this game was coming to Quest almost a year ago. Good timing for Meta with the Quest 3 around the corner
God no, VR should be a atleast 13+ activity, otherwise we'll get kids just growing up in VR not experiencing the real world.
Its already happened with phones, vr is the next step in reality disconnect. And if kids DO play it it should be heavily limited to 1 hour a day.
GiveUsTheNewsDay, our favorite day!!
If the quest three launched this year I highly doubt that a lot of people would be buying it because Christmas was nay to long ago and Christmas is also right around the corner and most people would most likely get the quest two
I have a pretty demanding job. I look forward to your videos to cheer me up.
That facial interface thing with Pico can be HUGE for those with disabilities
Thrillseeker you know now all the kids in rec room will move to Roblox and we can finally play rec room without screaming
Welp, were either gonna get an entire remake of half life alyx in roblox type stuff or just cash grab greedyness
The last time i played Roblox was 2009. I don't think this will make me revive that account.
