Truckers used to park at them regularly when brothers sam & bud walton were still alive. But nowadays, wal mart is a big corporation thst doesn't care about outside carriers. They only want us to bring & deliver their frieght & get the hell on!! Wal mart won't even allow outside carriers to use their sibgle axle scales at their d.c.'s anymore. The wal mart/sams club corporation doesn't really care about outside carriers, other than delivering & picking up their frieght.

Some walmarts have parking spots for 18 wheelers with painted lines on the ground designated for big trucks. Stay away from walmarts next to truck stops or the ones that constantly get 15 trucks or more parked there overnite constantly or the ones that say ABSOLUTELY no truck parking. The walmarts that are way out of the way of normal truck routes are where I parked when I was truck driving. They always let the walmart Trucks park at any Walmart from what I've seen. Or if you got a Walmart load in your trailer some will let you park overnite. It useto be in the past ( 2015- 2010 on back) you'd park at your typical Walmart and and there'd be only 1-3 trucks parked there overnite. And as the years go by there's just more and more trucks out there running around and clogging up parking lots. Then here comes the booting assholes. I'd park at Walmart to not have to listen to those annoying, loud, vibrating the ground refer trailers parked next to me so I can sleep quiet. But nowadays here they come into
Your typical Walmart making there racket overnight there. Glad I'm not truckin' and dealing with that crap anymore. There just not creating enough truck parking to match the the ever increasing amount of trucks out there.

Most Walmart sites have not only banned parking of trucks unless doing shipping to them or shopping for limited time periods, but also banned campers from their parking lots. That is due to crime, noise, filth, too many homeless or traveling workers too cheap for a motel, taking spaces from customers, discouraging customers and liability risks.

If you have to park at a Walmart, make sure it's the only store in the parking lot. Just to be safe or see if there's enough room. In the park in the back without blocking the docks. That's your best bet if you have to park at a Walmart.
Usually on the East Coast. You don't have as many problems. With Walmart, as long as it's a superstore, not one of those small ones. Always ask the manager and check for towing away signs.

If you are in retail space means a lot. Would you be ok if drivers started parking in your front yard. Some truck drivers are too stupid to understand the maintenance cost. Walmart in Sidney, Nebraska, still let's truckers park there. Again. If you need parking. Roads going closed or tired. In Kimball, Nebraska. East exit. Go north. Over hwy 30. Trucker parking. Yet. Nothing there but the parking lot. A bounce. Kimball has a taxi service. Get the number. If you need the grocery store, etc. If they will pick you up. You have a way to shop for supplies. Taxi is only I believe Monday threw Friday. Day time hours. They run from Kimball to Sidney and to Scottsbluff.

I stop at walmart every other week all over the country. I make sure it's towards the end of the day for the store, and i park as far away and out of the way as i can, in a spot that i know for a fact i can pull out of without disturbing anything or anyone. Never have had an issue doing it that way. Ive seen it happen to people. Typically when it does it turns out to be they had been at a store that doesn't allow trucks because of local ordinances and were in their truck parked for +3hrs.

I had this discussion with Walmart some time back.
Here is the deal: Some Walmarts own the property and they have the righty to say if trucks can park there or not. Their decisions are based on trucker behavior. A few ruin it for all. Walmart claims that big trucks tear up their parking lots including their cart corrals and leave their litter. I don’t blame them.
Some Walmarts lease the land from the city. And they makes bucko bucks on booting trucks. A tow truck comes out and boot your truck, then knock on your door and tell you that you must pay or they will not remove the boot. They sit and wait for payment, they do not leave. Some of these fees are in the thousands. It is the city.
This happened to a friend of mine and they locked a BARNACLE on his windshield and they stayed to ascertain that he did not remove it. He looked around the parking lot and there were several trucks and an RV with a barnacle on their windshield. The family in the RV parked there because they could not afford a campsite. The man was going to bust the windshield, but the tow truck driver would not allow it. They were screwed, as the city charged a daily rate.
They were given NO NOTICE or gave them a chance to move. This is predatory.
    This was in Kansas City.

Trip Planning is part of why I get up around 0100 and am on the road no later than 0230 is so I can pretty much take my pick of parking spots and if all the truck stops are full I make sure I have enough time to get a bit further down the road to a rest area. So far I've been lucky enough to not have to get creative with my parking but who knows how bad its gonna eventually get. They need to start making more truck parking around the larger cities.

😎 I park at Walmart very often!👍you just need to know where and most of the drivers are dirty and dirty, they piss in bottles and leave their piss in the parking lot and leave oil and other garbage from the car!!! Who will clean up after them later? they will destroy everything possible, islands, carts, flowers, they will destroy the grass and I am not surprised that Walmart reacts this way! I usually park at the back where deliveries are made, not at the front where there are passenger cars, I do shopping and I don't litter, sometimes I sleep and no one bothers me!

Many Wal Mart Home Depot. LOWES, PetSmart Mgrs do not mine you parking even if you're not delivering to them. For instance, City Ordnance in Texas will fine each store $1500.00 per semi truck parked in their store plot front or back. In addition City Ord will have Code Enforcement ticket you, a private boot company boot your truck and within two hours call a tow truck come get your truck. The fines, your bill only increases from there.
It's madness out here these days. Sometimes, these stores are the nearest and safest places to park for our pickup and or delivery.

If the offending driver was not receptive to the rules of respect, there was a lesson depending on the tutoring drivers skill set.

When I was otr I used to stop at a Walmart off of I-5, Williams California. It was easy off and on, the parking lot was large enough to get around. There was ample space around the edge where no one parked so there was great parking. I never spent the night and I would leave within an hour. The last time I stopped there was 2 one gallon milk jugs full of urine left in a shopping cart. There were two light pole’s leaning way over from trucks hitting them. Broken curbs and landscaping all tore up. Trash all over where the trucks park. That area of the lot stunk of urine in the hot sun. I never stopped there again. And after seeing what truck drivers have done I can completely understand Walmart not wanting that on their property. Along with that will come the prostitution and drug dealing. Make no mistake, there are a significant number of truck drivers using dope. I’ve seen a lot of guys fail drug tests in my 24 years as a CDL holder. I would like to see hair follicle drug testing done on CDL drivers.

There's some reasons WalMart doesn't want trucks parking at certain stores:
    1) If a Walmart is in a mall or plaza, Walmart doesn't own the parking lot and has zero say in how the mall runs it. Malls usually don't want trucks parking there overnight because of insurance liability issues.
    2) A certain group of truck "drivers" are little more than pigs. That group leaves their trash everywhere (don't look in the cab or sleeper 😱), and someone has to clean up that sh!t.
    3) Often, it's the local municipality that has bylaws saying where trucks can and can't park - and overnight parking at stores may not be allowed under the local bylaws. Even stand-alone stores where Walmart does own the parking lot might not be able to allow trucks to park there overnight due to local bylaws.

I deliver to home depot a lot and they will allow me to park overnight but I cannot idle my truck because of the ordinances. People in the area complain about the noise and I can understand it. I drive a Peterbilt 379 with 6" straight pipes, they're loud even at idle. Who wants to hear that all night long especially if the fan is kicking on and off?

This store is in Williamsburg, Ky. This store has a truck parking area at the rear of the store at the last entrance for trucks, easy in and out. Look at it on Google maps. These stores are getting tired of cleaning up trash and fixing property damage from trucks and "Flip Flop drivers" who can't drive. So it stands to reason they are booting trucks. This is private property not public property. When costumers are walking through the parking lot and shit bags and piss bottles are everywhere then what do you thinks gonna happen? The Berea, Ky store has the same problem with drivers parking and blocking up access to the docks for drivers delivering to that store because a few flip floppers can't be considerate of the stores operation. So I can't blame these stores for booting trucks.

Well as a trucker who was booted once at a Walmart in Texas, but still parks at a Walmart for his home time I’d say it depends on the location and that you should always read the signs and check updates on services like Trucker Path and Google. It’s important to keep in mind that some areas, Mount Vernon IL comes to mind, its the cities that decided truckers cannot stay in local shopping centers like Walmarts. So even if Walmart says overnight truck parking is allowed, the Police will come and move you or have you towed.
There are even some locations where Walmart Drivers themselves can’t overnight at the store - and Kentucky sites see truckers as a means of income for the local shopping mall, for example they don’t boot you early in the evening, they allow you to go to bed and then boot you for revenue. There are plenty of Walmarts where you can park, just be aware, be advised and be smart. Good luck to you all and truck safe out there!

    Walmart driver here,
The way I have it understood is if you’re stopping to shop and go, they don’t care. Some stores we have, they won’t let us do 10 hour breaks at them because of noise ordinance(bougie areas). I’ve found it hilarious that they let homeless people live in their cars and leave trash everywhere but won’t let a truck driver park overnight. Me personally if I deliver at night I could care less if the parking lot is full of trucks or not. HOWEVER, DO NOT PARK BY THE DOCKS OR IN THE TURNAROUNDS. So just keep in mind if the Walmart is in a nice area or if there are truck stops down the road, they probably won’t let you park overnight.

  • @frankdelarosa6461
    @frankdelarosa6461 2 месяца назад

Not all the Walmarts allow overnight. Some allow park while shopping only. The overnights are away from the city, usually around big shippers. The tight spots in the city and small Walmart usually don’t want you to even park. I don’t like parking at Walmart but sometimes you got everything in one spot to shop.
