Mr C is the ultimate taste tester when it comes to sweets. His eyes light up like a child at the first bite of something he really likes. These gentlemen are pure souls, taking joy in many of the dishes we might take for granted as just "Tuesday dinner", because we're so used to eating them. When I was stationed in the Army down south in the USA Ambrosia Salad was something I'd never seen before and fell in love with from the first taste. Blessings upon you all!

My dad started making something similar to this, when I was a teenager (I'm almost 66). It had 2 cans of tropical fruit salad (drained, not the one with cherries etc), bananas, marshmallows, sour cream, and a little dedicated coconut, he use to make it for every BBQ party we had. It was the best, and easiest dessert ever. He got Alzheimer's in his late 50's and died at 69. I haven't had this dessert for many many years. Thank you for bringing back great memories. I'll have to make it this summer, which is not too far away. I live in Australia.

Ahhhh.....Ambrosia salad. This is a fresh light dessert or treat for anyone. The Ambrosia my grandmother made had sweet shredded coconut in it. Ambrosia salad is one of those things that is regional I think. I live in Southern California and I have never had or seen an Ambrosia salad at any party, BBQ, luncheon, etc that I have ever been to. I don't know anyone who makes it. But my cousin who lives in Alabama, which is the South East of the US, makes it at least twice a week for her family and she said its a staple at any Southern BBQ or "get together" she's ever been to. I think its one of those Southern foods. It looks delicious though.

But, eat it quickly and cold as it's quite perishable...
Yum! Generally made with either whipped cream or fruit yogurt, plus fruit, nuts, and sometimes marshmallows. It's basically a dessert salad... But generally taken as a side dish to other main dishes, again, typically at a picnic or potluck.

Can't recall if they've tried that one yet or not.
But, yeah, Ambrosia salad is delicious. Very sweet. Probably not something to eat every day as there's a lot of sugar in it. But we only eat it once in a while on special occasions like picnics or potlucks, so not really an everyday thing. But delicious when we do get some. :)

    My dream for Tribal People:
    1. Create new, affordable & healthy dishes for them based on the dishes they try or are inspired to create. Let them pass them onto other local tribes. I heard Mr. Kahn say their is local fighting between tribes. People tend not to fight when they are stuffing their face with food!
    2. Improve the lives, variety of food and health of the Tribal People permanently.

I think that’s what we call
Heavenly Hash. Oh! That’s so good. You eat a bowl and then go lay down and have a nice nap. That’s such a treat. The places I worked in used to have holiday parties where people brought the dish they made best. It was the one dish that made the party.

Have our loved Tribal folks tried a plain fruit salad? Or maybe a Waldorf salad or Taco salad? They've tried McD's... how about maybe Arby's or A&W"? Bring them to Ohio and I will buy their meals for the day!! 🙂

When a country like the US mixes so many different cultures they're bound to create unique dishes. Try "Porcupine Meatballs" created during the Great Depression and still popular.

Now is the time of year to make and eat popcorn balls, red candy apples, and spice cake. And i don't know any American that does not do Thanksgiving, so how about sage dressing, cadid yams, nut cranberry sauce, 3 bean salad, and possum pie. Leaving off Turkey cause not sure if it's easy to get there. Leaving off alot of dishes that have pork and catfish and frog legs, that are usually made.
