You're asking for album recommendations: try these from the Lights Out (1977) album: "Just Another Suicide", emotional lyrics by Mogg and some out of this world soloing by Schenker, "Try Me", lyrically uninteresting (a ballad, just another Nice Guy pleading for a chance), but given pathos by Mogg's delivery, and a solo that lays down about 80% of the licks used by later guitarists. "Lights Out" itself is IMO better than the live version, the live version is a bit murky because they're speeding it up a little too much, and then a completely off the wall cover of psychedelic rock group Love's "Alone Again Or". I don’t say it lightly when I say “Love to Love” is one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard. Jam packed with epic guitar riffs, but also beautiful and delicate vocals, it’s such a lethal combo. Steve Harris of Iron Maiden also claimed it as his favorite song.
Oh! I'm on the screen print! 😊 UFO was a direct influence for Steve Harris (Iron Maiden), especially Pete Way, so much style of playing bass, in music, even in the infamous striped pants! R.I.P. Pete
A really great album in a sort of similar vein (a bit more upbeat) is Thunder and Lightning by Thin Lizzy. Particularly the tracks "Thunder and Lightning", "Cold Sweat" and "Heart Attack"
If you're getting into UFO I think it's appropriate to suggest *Scorpions* . Many people know their mega hits *"Rock You Like A Hurricane"* and *"Wind Of Change"* (but if not, those are great songs to react to) Other than those, songs like *"Sails Of Charon"* (abolutely amazing) and *"Animal Magnitism"* (very slow and dark) are top songs one needs to hear.
And so many others! We’ll Burn The Sky, Catch Your Train, Life’s Like A River, Evening Wind, Yellow Raven, Fly to the Rainbow (Live), Crying Days, Drifting Sun, In Your Park, Longing For Fire, Polar Nights, Dark Lady, Your Light, Lovedrive, Coast to Coast, Falling In Love, Only A Man, The Zoo, China White, When The Smoke Is Going Down...

Doctor Doctor and Rock Bottom may be their biggest hits - both from the first album when Michael Schenker joined (as a teenager!). There are a few others like 'Shoot Shoot' or 'Lights Out'. But this live-album isn't for nothing listed as one of the best out there! Interestingly I think it is the last recording Schenker did with UFO before he had to leave (besides some short lived reunions way later). Most of what they did in that time period isn't too bad! Not saying it should be put in a reaction, but maybe really interesting to at least check out: what UFO did before Michael Schenker joined - especially the album 'Flying' (also titled 'One Hour Space Rock'). Awesome! Strangers in the night is one of the best live albums of all time. The guitar player, Michael Schenker, also played in Scorpions (you should chech their 70s stuff too!) with his brother and founder Rudolph, although he only made their debut album and left for UFO.
@@kirawasareactor Thats great! Also, (writing this during Love to Love) songs like Love to Love are called Power ballads, and once you get into 80s rock and metal, they became more and more common. 80s Scorpions have a lot, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake among others used the power ballads to go mainstream
Absolutely loved your reaction especially love to love awesome track, other ufo tracks, only you can rock me,cherry, too hot to handle or the whole lights out lp.
Rock Bottom is great 1970's guitar extravaganza. Love to Love, is a true Master Piece written in E minor and takes you through so much emotional dynamics and has an ethereal effect on the listeners senses. I've been in a couple of bands that pulled this song off verbatim and the audience members who never heard this before, are floored, especially that "cliff hanger" ending always stuns people .... every time .
Strangers In The Night, one of the definitive live albums and greatest hits of all time. Michael Schenker, there's a reason he's one of my big three main guitar heroes. The ending solo of Love To Love still gives me chills all these years later. But, now you must listen to "Lights Out". And if you want a little more UFO, Natural Thing, Only You Can Rock Me, Too Hot To Handle... I could go on and on, but that will keep you busy.
Ogrelord5150 - Just curious - who are your other two favorites? Would they happen to be Uli Jon Roth and Gary Moore? Along with Michael Schenker, that’s my Holy Trinity.
@@crusheverything4449 That's an excellent Holy Trinity. I love Uli Roth and Gary Moore. Uli Roth is such a melodic virtuoso. My favorites are "Catch A Train" and "Longing For Fire". Gary Moore, is Gary Moore, enough said. If it's the "End Of The World", that's the way to go. I love many guitarists, but my heroes were Van Halen(of course) and Randy Rhoads. I'm from LA, so they're hometown heroes. But Schenker, I was blown away by Phenomenon and then Lights Out. Such a powerful, melodic guitarist that is not mentioned with other greats. I love the live version of "Love To Love" but I love the studio version more.
Uriah Heep is a good idea! If you liked Deep Purple for Jon Lord's organ - there is much to love here. Ken Hensley may not be as virtuos as a lead player, but he has a very similar vibe in sound, feeling and energy! especially on the earlier stuff like: -Gypsy -July Morning (epic!) -Easy Livin' -Look At Yourself -Lady in Black (accustic ballad!) and many more Motörhead are icons! They have a relatively unique style based around legend Lemmy Kilmister's voice, style and personality, really... He would say they just play fast Rock'n'Roll. Their energy is undeniable - guaranteed to be fun. Most songs aren't too long either :) (I think it was Lemmy who claimed: A guitar-riff shouldn't be longer than it takes to open a beer.) -Ace of Spades (biggest hit) -Bomber -Overkill -Motorhead and so many more... -Killed by Death -Iron Fist -Stay Clean -No Class -Damage case -Orgasmatron -Metropolis -Going to Brazil -Born To Raise Hell -I Know How to Die (just a personal favorite from a more recent album) Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep... I think you already know Led Zeppelin? If there is something from them (at least the first 6 albums) you missed - it should belong in this company. Also not metal, but speaking of atmospheric music earlier: just asking, do you really know your Pink Floyd? -Dark Side of the Moon (conceptual masterpiece), -Wish You Were Here (atmospheric), -Animals (long jams) and -The Wall (incredible storytelling) are albums everyone should know. But there are also things like -Meddle (with the epic 'Echoes'), the often overlooked -Obsucred By Clouds, -The Division Bell (from the 90s, without Roger Waters, but still some incredible music) the beginnings with Syd Barret on -Piper At the Gates Of Dawn and much of their early experimental stuff; [Saucerful of Secrets, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Careful with that Axe Eugene, Embryo] a great showcase for that is the Live in Pompeeii film (and soundtrack). Also if you never have seen their late 80s/early 90s giant live shows, you're missing out! [Comfortably Numb], or [Sorrow] for some Gilmour guitar that has blown everyone away yet.
I love how you didn't go for harder metal, and listening to more 70's hard rock. I love Free, Blue oyster cult, Humble Pie, 70's Judas Priest and so on.
@@kirawasareactor OH MY GOD I CANT WAIT PLEASE listen to Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver, Here come the Tears, Beyond the Realms of death and oh my God, Delivering the Goods Is SO KILLER ❤️
Free - Wishing Well. This band is not metal but contemporary with Deep Purple and somewhat similar vibes. It may give perspective how early proto-metal didn't didn't come out of nowhere but had lots in common with rock and blues bands of the time.
Michael Schenker, skinny German dude with a trademark black and white flying v guitar, his older brother is Rudolph Schenker, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for zee Scorpions
You should listen to the studio version of rock bottom the way the guitar and bass play off each other sounds phenomenal. Always love your reactions \m/
You need to listen to. No place to run album, and misdemeanor album, they ( ufo) has been my favorite band since them many times in the late 70's and 80' s LOVE EVERY SONG!!
I'm not as familiar with UFO although I've known of them for decades. However I inherited a handful of their records and I haven't played them yet. I guess I must now.
Try some Opeth songs- •Sorceress. •Ghost of Perdition. •Blackwater Park. •Harvest. •Godhead's Lament. Opeth are one of the greatest Metal bands. They have a serene mix of beauty and brutality. Opeth will blow your mind!!! Also,Awesome video!!!.
Strong Recommendations: Judas Priest - from the live album Unleashed in the East: The Ripper, Victim of Changes, Beyond the Realms of Death; Black Sabbath chronologically (obviously duh); and melodic - Blue Öyster Cult from the 1975 live album On Your Feet or on Your Knees, Then Came the Last Days of May, Cities On Flame, Harvester of Eyes (my vinyl has no grooves left...) and these are just the classics - tons more to recommend ...
Cool vid! UFO is a major influence of Iron Maiden wich is my all time favorite. You should listen to Thin Lizzy, it would make sense. Looking forward to Uriah Heep. David Byron is an AWESOME vocalist!!!
OHHH Huriah Heep is exactly what I thought you should do next. Definitely 'Wise Man' would be one to try! I would also suggest listening to Deep Purple Mark III (my fav lineup): Stormbringer, Holy Man, Burn and Mistreated ❤︎
Well that made my day cheerier😁. You have so much fun and that is contagious. The mighty UFO featuring the legend that is Michael Schenker who is affectionately also known as the "mad axeman". Some of the songs you were hearing he helped write when he was around 19 or 20 (this live recording came out late 70s so he would have been 23 or 24 when it was recorded). He is still making music (his latest album "Immortal" celebrates 50 years of playing and performing) and man he is still fantastic live. The band had a reputation, especially back in the day for drinking and general mayhem. At times it was amazing they could stand let alone perform 😂. My favourite story of them mucking about on tour was when they supported my number one band Rush. Due to Rush using quite a lot of dry ice at the intro of a particularly long song Pete Way (bassist) sneaked onto the stage and nailed a pair of slippers onto the stage floor in front of Geddy Lee's bass pedals😂😂😂. Geddy said about the late Mr Way that at least twice on that tour he saw Pete fall of the stage due to being pissed, but they always did a great show regardless! Sadly 2 of the band from that tour died in the last couple of years. Great heritage, excellent musicians and quality song writers. Also a bloody hoot!
The slippers were because the band was on the back cover of their then-current album, 2112, wearing kimonos! Those guys became great friends and Geddy is quite proud of drinking Pete under the table, at least once, which is no small feat! Man, they must’ve had a freakin’ blast back then!!
@@crusheverything4449 Absolutely. That tour must have been a blast to attend. 2 excellent bands, quite different from each other at the top of their games. As an aside I tried to grow a handlebar moustache (not so successfully) ala Neil. I did buy a kimono, and yes I did look a right twat😂.
Guitarist Michael Schenker is the younger brother of Scorpions rhythm guitar player and founder Rudolf Schenker. Michael started his career at 15 with Scorpions and left for UFO when he was just 17 for the 1974 album 'Phenomenon', which has 'Doctor Doctor' and 'Rock Bottom'. 'Love To Love' is on 1977's 'Lights Out' album. Michael Schenker is one of the greatest guitar players and was at his peak in the seventies, along Blackmore, Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy) and madman Ted Nugent. EDIT Half of the band are dead now. Singer Phil Mogg is alive and kicking but decided to close down the band after rhythm guitar and keyboard player Paul Raymond died, as well as bass player Pete Way and lead Guitar player Paul Chapman. Chapman was the original guitar player of UFO but got kicked-out to make space for Michael Schenker and came back after Schenker left end of 1979 for the 1980 album "No Place To Run". Way and Chapman died in 2020 while Raymond passed away in 2019. Love the pink/red highlights in yer hair, by the way.
JimmyRJump - Some of your information is incorrect. Phil made his decision to retire and played many dates while Paul Raymond was alive and playing with UFO. After Raymond passed, they recruited Neil Carter, who had replaced Paul in the 80s, to complete tour dates, before being forced off the road due to the COVID pandemic. Paul Chapman was not the original guitarist of UFO. Before Michael, there were Mick Bolton, Larry Wallis and Bernie Marsden, individually. Michael replaced Marsden. Chapman was a member, along with Michael, for a brief time in ‘74-early ‘75 before quitting. He filled in for the flighty Schenker on a couple of subsequent tours until becoming his replacement in late ‘78, after Schenker had quit. It won’t surprise me to see UFO back on the road again, post-pandemic.
@@crusheverything4449 Yes, Bolton was the original guitar player for UFO... You probably had to look that up. I have everything from a slightly fading memory. After all, most of this is over fourty years ago. And as far as retiring goes, I saw Mogg say as much in an interview. Recruiting Neil Carter was indeed re-recruited to fill the contractual tour dates.
@@JimmyRJump- I owned the first two UFO records with Bolton when I was thirteen in 1976, so I really don’t have to look shit up. As a music journalist, I interviewed Schenker and Mogg several times each and was on their guest list a dozen times. A review I wrote of the Covenant album was used by the band’s management as their sole website page on UFO for two years. Your “I know you are, but what am I” approach is petty and weak. The laws of physics support what I said about Paul Raymond having played dates on the “Last Orders” tour being proof that Mogg announced his retirement before Raymond died. I’m not sure what your point is regarding Mogg’s retirement, but I watched the whole thing play out from an insider’s perspective, so, to me, your take is irrelevant. But, you go on with your bad self.
There is a lot more to Boston than More than a feeling. Try Foreplay/Long time of their first album for starters. There are some great songs on the second album too. Also check out The launch/Cool the engines on the third album (The Third Stage)
You can spend a LOT of time with UFOs catalog. I'll wait here. subbed because of the way you reacted to Stargazer and Love to Love especially! You really have something here. I just binge watched all your videos, so far the choices are excellent... except the oddball one, but the rest was like being able to hear these again for the first time. Thank you!!!!!
You need to check out some more recent UFO. Such as You Are Here, Monkey Puzzle, The Visitor and the live recorded SHOWTIME. And then back to High Stakes and Dangerous Men; with the live follow up Lights Out in Tokyo. And of course The Wild Willing and The Innocent. Oh! And of course the reunion with Michael Walk on Water album. Highly recommend Self Made Man off that album. OMG! Then you could go back back back before Michael and check UFO LIVE album. The amount of music/albums UFO has released is....almost endless. There really is no other Band that can compare to UFO. Lastly, if you really want to be blown away. Check out Mogg and the Sign of 4 album Dancing with St. Peter. And the title track Dancing with St. Peter. It will tear your heart out and make you cry: yet at the same time lift you up. Phil Mogg is the Voice/Singer of UFO. Actually Phil Mogg is UFO.
Love that you reacted to these and looking forward to you hearing Lights Out too (my favourite UFO song). Doctor Doctor always played a major role in the live set of the cover band I used to sing for and was always a crowd pleaser ! Keep reacting :-)
Next Uriah Heep? ok, but be sure to pick up songs from every singer in his history, long history and different styles, at least The wizard, July morning or Look at yourself from Byron era, Wise man or Free'n'easy from Lawton era, Feelings from Sloman era, Too scared to run or The other side of midnight from Goalby, and from Bernie Shaw era songs like Cry Freedom, Wich way will the wind blow or Against the odds

@@ExcelionYogi looking forward to properly hitting the 80s :)
Guys don't forget that the main man in scorpions' history was Uli Jon Roth. Schenker's legacy comprises mainly of his UFO and MSG stuff.
@@adhamsalem9121 I never said Schenker was the main man in Scorpions, I said he was in the debut album and left for UFO
If you want some crazy dynamics from UFO, try Martian Lanscapes & Dreaming of Summer
Absolutely loved your reaction especially love to love awesome track, other ufo tracks, only you can rock me,cherry, too hot to handle or the whole lights out lp.
If you want to check out one of the strangest songs ever, try the 26 minute "Flying" by UFO from 1971.
More UFO: I'm a Loser / Profession of Violence
Michael Schenker Group: Rock My Nights Away / The Dogs of War / Lost Horizon
You're excitement over Love to Love got ME excited!
Saw them in concert in '78 in Brum , still haven't fully recovered :)
@@Ogrelord5150 - The studio version of Love to Love is my favorite song by any artist. Good call!
Uriah Heep is a good idea! If you liked Deep Purple for Jon Lord's organ - there is much to love here. Ken Hensley may not be as virtuos as a lead player, but he has a very similar vibe in sound, feeling and energy!
especially on the earlier stuff like:
-Gypsy
-July Morning (epic!)
-Easy Livin'
-Look At Yourself
-Lady in Black (accustic ballad!)
and many more
Motörhead are icons! They have a relatively unique style based around legend Lemmy Kilmister's voice, style and personality, really... He would say they just play fast Rock'n'Roll. Their energy is undeniable - guaranteed to be fun.
Most songs aren't too long either :) (I think it was Lemmy who claimed: A guitar-riff shouldn't be longer than it takes to open a beer.)
-Ace of Spades (biggest hit)
-Bomber
-Overkill
-Motorhead
and so many more...
-Killed by Death
-Iron Fist
-Stay Clean
-No Class
-Damage case
-Orgasmatron
-Metropolis
-Going to Brazil
-Born To Raise Hell
-I Know How to Die (just a personal favorite from a more recent album)
Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep...
I think you already know Led Zeppelin?
If there is something from them (at least the first 6 albums) you missed - it should belong in this company.
Also not metal, but speaking of atmospheric music earlier: just asking, do you really know your Pink Floyd?
-Dark Side of the Moon (conceptual masterpiece),
-Wish You Were Here (atmospheric),
-Animals (long jams) and
-The Wall (incredible storytelling)
are albums everyone should know.
But there are also things like
-Meddle (with the epic 'Echoes'),
the often overlooked -Obsucred By Clouds,
-The Division Bell (from the 90s, without Roger Waters, but still some incredible music)
the beginnings with Syd Barret on -Piper At the Gates Of Dawn
and much of their early experimental stuff; [Saucerful of Secrets, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Careful with that Axe Eugene, Embryo]
a great showcase for that is the Live in Pompeeii film (and soundtrack).
Also if you never have seen their late 80s/early 90s giant live shows, you're missing out!
[Comfortably Numb], or [Sorrow] for some Gilmour guitar that has blown everyone away yet.
I love how you didn't go for harder metal, and listening to more 70's hard rock. I love Free, Blue oyster cult, Humble Pie, 70's Judas Priest and so on.
oh my god... 70s JP. just you wait.
@@kirawasareactor yeeeessss🤘🤘🤘🤩
@@kirawasareactor OH MY GOD I CANT WAIT PLEASE listen to Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver, Here come the Tears, Beyond the Realms of death and oh my God, Delivering the Goods Is SO KILLER ❤️
Free - Wishing Well. This band is not metal but contemporary with Deep Purple and somewhat similar vibes. It may give perspective how early proto-metal didn't didn't come out of nowhere but had lots in common with rock and blues bands of the time.
Great job. Now you can move on to MSG- The Michael Schenker Group. Literally pick any song off the first two albums.
She's also never heard of the Steve Miller Band
Michael Schenker, skinny German dude with a trademark black and white flying v guitar, his older brother is Rudolph Schenker, rhythm guitarist and songwriter for zee Scorpions
6:01 - 6:42 Best reaction to anything, ever.
Nice hair color!
Michael Schenker the guitarist of UFO is the brother of Rudolf Schenker, who is the guitarist of The Scorpions.. Both from Hanover in Germany
What would Iron Maiden sound like if it wasn't for UFO and Doctor Doctor?
Hey! Good!!! You must hear the original Rock Bottom in his studio album. The solo is different and it’s a blowing solo ….. really 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼👌🏽.
You should listen to the studio version of rock bottom the way the guitar and bass play off each other sounds phenomenal. Always love your reactions \m/
You need to listen to. No place to run album, and misdemeanor album, they ( ufo) has been my favorite band since them many times in the late 70's and 80' s LOVE
EVERY SONG!!
I'm not as familiar with UFO although I've known of them for decades. However I inherited a handful of their records and I haven't played them yet. I guess I must now.
Duuuuuuuuuude...!!
Try some Opeth songs-
•Sorceress.
•Ghost of Perdition.
•Blackwater Park.
•Harvest.
•Godhead's Lament.
Opeth are one of the greatest Metal bands. They have a
serene mix of beauty and brutality.
Opeth will blow your mind!!!
Also,Awesome video!!!.
Phil Mogg’s vocals still good even today in his 70s - check out the videos on RUclips.
I don’t understand why he’s not better known. He should be talked about along with Plant, Coverdale, Rodgers, etc.
Welcome to the Schenker family
"This sounds sort of like a lullaby..." ROFL, get ready...
He wrote every word.. every note .. Love to love
UFO still one of the best live hard rock bans.
Bands
mad to think that maiden still come on stage to Doctor Doctor- they were a huge influence on Steve Harris
I agree: all of those are essential.
Jorgen Black - Our record collections are very similar! 🤘🏼
Micheal was rudolphs little brother and started playing with the scorpions when he was about 17
Cool vid! UFO is a major influence of Iron Maiden wich is my all time favorite. You should listen to Thin Lizzy, it would make sense. Looking forward to Uriah Heep. David Byron is an AWESOME vocalist!!!
Lizzy was a big influence on Maiden, too. One listen to Emerald will tell you that! 🤘🏼
OHHH Huriah Heep is exactly what I thought you should do next. Definitely 'Wise Man' would be one to try!
I would also suggest listening to Deep Purple Mark III (my fav lineup): Stormbringer, Holy Man, Burn and Mistreated ❤︎
Really excited for Motorhead! I think you'll love them because you loved Dio's stand up and shout! Simple high tempo heavy metal!!
oh damn that's a really good comparison
@@kirawasareactor Motorhead are like Punk Metall Rock N Rioll
I dig the new highlights! 😎 this was unexpected, but welcome! You're quickly becoming my favorite reactor. Excited to see more!
The selections are great but Lights Out and Rock Bottom back to back is genuinely epic.
Love To Love is one of my Top 10 songs of all time.
I got the chills too
Well that made my day cheerier😁.
@@madjock-ig5bv- HAHAA!!! That’s the stuff legends are made of, man! Freakin’ great!!
More stuff by UFO you definitely must check: Mother Mary, Lights Out, Belladona, The Kid's/ Between The Walls, High Flyer
Love to Love. Live music perfection ❤
Try the Into the Arena and Captain Nemo by Michael Schenker since you like his playing here
good one !!! thanks for video !!
Michael Schenker is my guitar hero
EDIT
Half of the band are dead now.
Have you listened to any Steve Miller Band or Boston???
well, i've heard more than a feeling of course lol. never heard of steve miller band ?
@@kirawasareactor oh boy then put Steve Miller band down and wait people will start suggesting him 👍
There is a lot more to Boston than More than a feeling.
Doing It All For You from 1982's Mechanix is a great song to listen to.
UFO is one of my favorite among the other 80s great bands. But now check out Karmakanic - Entering the Spectra and The Flower Kings - Dissonata.
UFO is a major influence for Iron Maiden. If you go back to them you'll probably notice it now!
If you like Michael schenker you should listen to gary moore especially on thin lizzys black rose album and his solo album corridors of power
Next Uriah Heep? ok, but be sure to pick up songs from every singer in his history, long history and different styles, at least The wizard, July morning or Look at yourself from Byron era, Wise man or Free'n'easy from Lawton era, Feelings from Sloman era, Too scared to run or The other side of midnight from Goalby, and from Bernie Shaw era songs like Cry Freedom, Wich way will the wind blow or Against the odds

metal opens up all the rabbit hole Pandoras box cans of worms
Michael Schenker plays UFO his brother Rudolf plays guitar in "the scorpions" you gotta check out that band as well
“Pandora’s box” and “can of worms” both have a negative connotation that is not appropriate when discussing UFO or Scorpions.
