      Did Rostropovich play another instrument besides cello? Fritz Kreisler apparently played both violin and piano, and of course Pinchas Zukerman on both violin and viola.

    • @peteroh9319
      @peteroh9319 2 года назад +12

      I read that Rostropovich was a talented conductor and composer.
      He also played the piano.
      I however don’t think he was a soloist on anything else but the cello.
      I believe Fisher in the modern era is the only artist, that is a distinguished soloist on two instruments. It’s quite remarkable and widely considered impossible.
      Twoset violín remarked that her dual performance, is akin to playing the first half in the World Cup final and the second half in the NBA finals.
      Barenboim, a renowned pianist is of course a star conductor. Although I’m not a professional musician, I’d venture a guess and say it’s not as difficult to be a piano soloist and a star conductor, as it is to be a soloist on the piano as well as the violin.
      Zuckerman being a great violinist as well as violist is (again I’m not a pro musician so I don’t know for sure) likely not as difficult as as being a pianist and violinist due to the fact that they’re (violin and viola) two similar string instruments. The piano and the violin are two completely different instruments that require two completely different technical skill sets.
      Fisher’s interpretation is where I fell in love with Grieg’s piano concerto. I’ve heard it played with greater technical skill (eg Buniatishvili and Rubinstein) but her musicality suits my palate the best. I find her renditions on various violin pieces to be some of the best (imo) as well. Fisher’s Tchaik is really up there. So is her Sarasate.

    I grew up in a house with an 1890's Steinway grand piano. My dad didn't play that often, because my mom thought it was "too loud". But whenever he did, this was the first piece he would always play, and he never had the sheet music in front of him. I'm pretty sure he was doing a shortened version of his favorite parts, but it was incredibly powerful. I remember crawling under the piano as a young tyke and feeling its power in my groin, akin to what I would later discover in loud, amplified rock music from bands like The Who, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. LOVE THIS!!

    I find her choice to showcase a second talent a courageous move. Being a clear "leader" in the field of violinist, she puts herself in a lion's den where competition is no less fierce. She proves herself as capable as a pianist, and thus makes herself a first (let me know if I am wrong on this) who could do two concertos for two different instruments in one night.

    I do believe in front of her sits a nine-foot steinway that she herself is playing and not, at least this time, a violin. That fact alone, in this setting, makes me absolutely marvel at her talent and shake my head in wonderment at anyone's insipid commentary to the contrary. Fine, Bozo no like, Bozo no have to hear. For God's sakes, go find something you like but don't sit here and try to convince us of your own superior musical knowledge by downing a world-class performer...what is clear is a gross amount of stupidity to contemplate making such rude remarks as to her lack of talent on the piano. As far as I know, she's the one on stage. She's the one who is entertaining at an extremely high level. She's the one who has the talent and mental fortitude to accomplish a performance like this on two instruments, let alone one. I don't see anyone with the last name of Avery or Pietor playing so much as a ukelele, and therefore you aren't in the least qualified or credible enough to make disparaging comments about her playing. I have played the piano by ear for 45 years with nary a single note of music in front of me, yet she is admittedly far beyond my talent level. Alas, I simply enjoy her playing, whether it be the violin or the piano, and that my friends is really all that counts.

      And certainly the sound quality is the important thing, but unfortunately the quality of the video is quite poor. Technically the resolution is 1080p but the visual quality does not match that. As well, the angles and lighting are not great. Worst though, the sync is off in places. Maybe fine for watching on your phone but not for the big screen.

    I had a student that got this advanced in seven years practicing about an hour a day for the first several years and then he went up to six hours for the last two years he started with me. so you do not need to practice 80 hours a day. Horowitz said that if your emotions are correct and your technique is correct you can play absolutely anything on the piano. if you decide to study with someone make sure they really know how to teach technique well and listen to their students and see how beautiful they are. if their students sound great, you will too.

    Brilliant gespielt hat sie eh schon. Ich habe oft bei ihr die "Abgründe" im Gefühl vermisst. Das ist der Vorteil des älter seins - nicht alt sein - , Die Lebenserfahrung spiegelt sich in der Musik wieder, endlich kann sie sich öffnen. Das habe ich bei ihr vorher vermisst. Seelische Weiterentwicklung ist wichtig für Künstler. Ich höre und fühle es, weiter so. Was würde sie wohl ihren Schüler/innen raten? Perfektion oder Seele oder beides nebeneinander, was evtl. mehr Zeit beanspruchen würde. Natürlich erst üben und üben. Ihr Spiel hat mich sehr berührt und auch das sehr einfühlsame Spiel des Orchesters.

      Russell Avery in my opinion: let Fischer continue to play Mendelssohn and other romantic composers on the violin and leave the piano to .... Buniathisvilly. Both are capable to let us hear the intense beauty of the romantism (as a period) in music in their own intense way and on their own instruments, resp violin and piano.

      I must agree, srsly, you can hear, that she is not a pianist. She is a violinist, which can play the piano as well, that is smth different. There is a difference, between playing the piano and being a pianist. So, I agree.
