I am 88 years old and I love Beethoven but it has been years since I heard this concerto. By chance, my son told me about You tube...I didn't know it existed until a few days ago. Now I am listening, loving, my heart is pounding, and tears are falling from my eyes. When I think of the days and weeks to come, I realize that it has changed my life, enriched my life, by simply clicking for the works I love. This is a wonderful performance by this pianist.
I wish you many more years of enjoyment. I have loads of recordings on CDs but nothing beats watching the skill and precision involved in producing such an exquisite sound - especially Beethoven, my hero.
I as well LOVE Beethoven. Many years ago, I was fortunate enough to have discovered RUclips. I sit in my lazy boy chair in my living room with a 17 inch HP Envy Laptop and spend hours listening to great music with absolutely beautiful video to watch on this great screen on this laptop. I purchased a laptop lap desk and I have all the comforts at hand to listen and watch beautiful videos as long as I like. I am retired and 69 years old. Life is good. Enjoy Beethoven as I do also. John in Ohio
In this stellar performance by a pianist I have never before heard and an orchestra/conductor combination who are unfamiliar to me, is one of the most important reasons to be thankful for RUclips. At age 93 and unable to travel to live concerts even in the small city where I now reside, this is a daily component of activity that makes life still very much worth living. I now have several artists playing some of the greatest music ever written with unlimited availability for me to watch, up close and personal in ways that even a live performance does not offer. Thanks to all who make it happen.!!!
I cannot agree with you more. The excitement of discovering these hidden videos is incredible. Not only the videos are so accessible, but also it is nowadays so cheap and easy to record and film a performance and upload it to RUclips that we get to know performers that perhaps in the olden times had to go through layers and layers of people and record label filters before perhaps seeing the light. And then, only for profit.
I very much agree. Nowadays it's not easy to go to concerts when we get older and live in places that do not have this type of entertainment that are necessary for us to make life with an extra meaning of enjoying it when we have got to this age. I'm 81 and still can't belive it. Grateful to God in every possible way and praying things come better for future generations.
# The charm of the live venue video, #Piano solo, #The performance speed of the music is the highest. I was impressed by the performance that #realism, #camera split cut split, and piano solo performance understood the strength and weakness of the keyboard touch. Not only the conductor and the orchestra, but also the camera split video that can read the score of multiple TV camera switching operator switchers (camera split, which is especially important in classic) is wonderful. 🙌👍❤️ Thank you. 😊
There's more talent around now than ever where musicians go; superb pianist and orchestra. Nice to know that music is the one area where we can all gather and celebrate life ... free from government overreach and all the nasty stuff this world throws at people. Beethoven is a refuge. His music is more relevant now than it ever has been.
Granted, the way Rosalia plays those passages that are to be played pianissimo are amazing. Yet, I wished you looked for the old videos of Alicia Sara Ott. Unfortunately, she suffered a serious illness that left her bedridden for a while. She got back, yet I do not know if she has recovered 100%. She used to have a stunning virtuosity, that allowed her to enjoy fully whatever she played. I especially suggest you listened to the way she used to play The Campanella by Franz Lizt.
This pianist plays the Emperor as though Beethoven wrote it only yesterday, personally handed her the score, gave her a rare smile, then put her in a world-transforming trance. The great man seemed to have weaved the same enchantment over the Duisburger and the sound engineer, too. I do believed I picked up every transcendent note. I still can't quite believe what I think I've just heard.

How wonderful to observe the performer enjoying this masterpiece, rather than appearing to perform a difficult work! Life becomes beautiful with such occasions.
I'm 70+ and have been playing music for 60 years. Rosalia is a musical angel. For me, exquisite technique combined with a palpable expression of soul are the qualities of a musician that I want to hear again and again. I want to hear Ms. Lasheras again and again.
Majestic does not mean battering the walls and beating the piece into submission. She got it right! So few of the iconic warriors didn’t. Bravo. Wonderful.

I am from the Czech Republic. Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 together with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 are both magnificent works of world musical heritage. Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Dvořák - three stars in my heart forever. Great music!
I've listened to this concerto for more than fifty years. Earlier it was just audio recordings, now it's a pleasure to see young pianist like Rosalia express the music with tenderness and energy.
After 40 years or so hearing the Emperor on audio and a few times in the concert hall, the appreciation of the absolute beauty of this performance is tops. We all should count how blessed we are to be able to enjoy it this way. And truly, the video multiplies the beauty: To know from watching one appreciates what a joy it is for the orchestra and pianist, as much as for the audience. This has to be near the pinnacle of classical music. If only it were to be possible for our world's cultures to evolve to even a fraction of this extent.
I grew up listening to this concerto with Curzon playing since I was 11 years old. This performance is unique, exceptionally beautiful. Unbelievable touch. Every note is a thing of beauty. Such control of every note. Rosalie had to be a very beautiful human being. I've listened to this piece thousands of times and never heard it played so beautifully.
I could not believe my ears when I first heard the recording. I was reading and wanted background music. It was so different than anyone else playing this. It was light and airy but at the same time powerful. Hard to explain. Had an ethereal quality. I am not a musician or well schooled in music, merely an appreciative listener. Thank you and God bless

What do you mean when you write "as if" ? You must be mistaken. I think that Rosalia's performance is REALLY to be understood as one when the score finds its way to the piano only after it passes through Rosalia's heart. Yes! I know that it is the feeling of love which inspired the master Beethoven. Magnificant! I have heard the Emperor played numerous times in concert halls across America and Australia. What RUclips gives me is a closeup view of the musicians at work, which I have never been able to capture in the concernt venues.
The combination of a Swiss-French Maestro, Spanish Virtuoso, with a masterly German orchestra performing one of the finest piano concertos by the world's greatest German composer = BLISS!
It does not seem so happy collaboration. There are times when the conductor trying to impose different rhythm and he seemed annoyed by frequent moments of lack of control of pianist. Nothing. The embrace of the end is hilarious
I've just spent several hours listening to many versions. There are many great pieces but I believe we have found a new magician for Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto. Wonderful.
Wow, what a great performance. Her smiles seemed to make the music seem so delicate and light. I love to be able to watch the artist play. It makes another dimension to the enjoyment.
I can say, listening the music from heaven and watching the concentration of every musician, is a touching, healing and beautiful experience to me. I have kept listening this footage at least once a week, for over half a year. Thanks you all.
So connected to the orchestra, so connected to the conductor, so connected to the composition; her eyes reveal her complete absorption into this music. She has become one with it. She's not playing it. She's just being what comes out of her soul. A musician performs music brilliantly. An Artist IS brilliant music.
What a performance.. Shear pleasure to listen to Rosalia perform this magnificent composition of one of the world’s greatest composers. His works are just out of this world.
Her "it's all yours now" nod to the orchestra at 1:46 is perfectly captured! As well as her "I am one with Beethoven-- across 200 years" at 15:20! Simply stunning.
The nod is to the Conductor; to gesture to the orchestra itself, bypassing the "Dirigent", would be very bad etiquette. The orchestra works for him, not the soloist.
@@PaulZink I disagree..... that's why it's called a Piano Concerto, it's a work for ORCHESTRA and a solo instrument, her purpose is to be ONE with the orchestra which includes the conductor. Therefore her gesture toward the orchestra is an extension of her part as a soloist, to bring Unity between the two. Just observe Khatia Buniatishvili and how she "passes the performance over to the orchestra continually as well as moving in sync and unity with the conductor". We are living in 2022 and performance etiquette has dramatically evolved with the likes of Eliane Rodrigues, Khatia Buniatishvili, Rosalía Gómez, and many other concerto soloists who bring humanity and life to their performances instead of stiff upper lip tradition!
I think this performance is a milestone in the history of this piece. Great credits to the pianist. Keep discovering! The sensation is the orchestra being remote as possible from too many lame accompaniments of famous groups. Thanks to the conductor to the conductor to all the adventures. Dont listen to people who want to hear only what they are accustomed to
This is a less than mediocre performance. But feel free to stick with this pianist's performance. I keep with Michelangeli/Celibidache, Emil Gilels, Wilhelm Backhaus etc. For you, to nullify these giants in favour of this kid is only proof of your infantile and imbecilic mindset. Have a nice day.
Rosalia Gomez Lasheras by far, has all the absolute attributes of a genius on the Piano! Her attire, posture, and Beauty is so unique that the Bar has been reached way above most all piano artist! She has set the appearance of what models every upcoming student on the Ivories which one will strive to achieve as their goal!
One of the very best recordings of a wonderful concerto. This stellar performance has life, soul and feeling, it even talks (if you listen), - absolutely outstanding. It warms my heart.
My thoughts exactly and then I noticed the advanced age of most of the audience. Either, they'd forgotten their hearing aids or everyone's arthritis was flaring up. I've heard this piece many times but none have come close to creating such a magical experience. Wish I had been there.
I can see how stunned the audience must be as everything I return to the wholeness of alpha & amega of this performance the awe of joy of exuberance of appreciation of perfection is an absolute jaw dropper
Rosalia Gomez Lasheras has surely made her position as an excellent pianoplayer and let us hope she will continue her excellent professionalism in playing more superb concertos! She has obviously a exceptional talent.
I usually do not listen to Beethoven except for some pieces I’ve been accustomed to since childhood, but I am suddenly fascinated by this performance guided by the RUclips algorithm. Although I know this piece, this is the first experience for me. Beautiful!
Pleitesía eterna a ambos.
Amazing and elegant performance. Her hands and long fingers were designed to play the piano. Nice body choreography and posture. You've got a fan Rosalía!
Stunning! Miss Lasheras brings an unexpected and simply mindblowing elasticity to the piece, injecting air between notes where others never seem to have thought possible, showing us pockets of calming sensuality hidden in Beethoven's masterpiece. Utterly breathtaking. Thank you.
Danke!!!
I've watched this by many of the "big names", so when RUclips presented it to me as I suggestion I wasn't going to bother. But then it started by itself, and I knew I had just found a new favorite!
Such sensitivity. I simply love the 2nd movement. It speaks of a calmness and a river flowing softly and has a peace that develops into the rivulets towards the end of the movement. Congratulations to the Conductor., members of the orchestra and last but not least the soloist. Enjoyed every minute, You each have a special gift.May you share with many during your life. Watch this recording gradually seep into the top 20 reference recordings of Op 73. Rosalia Lacheras is an international treasure, this is artistically suoerb and Lope has exceptional control of (and connection with) the orchestra. In fact interplay between soloist and himself is maybe the most sympathetic I've seen, leading to perfect timing; particularly the tricky transition to the 3rd movement. Fantastic job.
So lovely to hear an 'Emperor' played without resorting to the sledgehammer technique - beautifully articulated, crystal clear. (Sound engineers deserve a lot of credit too - the balance is spot on).
Quite right, and without the histrionics we often see, especially from young artists who seem to need to prove something. She looks like she's having a great time and almost makes this gargantuan piece look easy.
Agree with you there. She has the most lovely, tasteful sound. But it is still dynamic and vital. Such a nice change from the shredders and crash-bangers who smash the piano to bits trying to over-play.
What makes this recording so special for me is not just its quality but the very obvious love, joy and enthusiasm Rosalía has in playing the piece. I share that love for this wonderful piece of music.
Greetings from Canada! What a bright and sensitive interpretation of this work, truly wonderful! Bravissima! This goes into my collection of favourites, to play many times. Thank you for posting! Pianists- watch this fine finger-work!

Geweldig mooie uitvoering.Wat is Beethoven toch geniaal.
Let's all pray the EU continues, forever. Just a few short decades ago they were all killing each other and destroying their culture.
It does not seem so happy collaboration. There are times when the conductor trying to impose different rhythm and he seemed annoyed by frequent moments of lack of control of pianist. Nothing. The embrace of the end is hilarious

Barenboim?
I've just spent several hours listening to many versions. There are many great pieces but I believe we have found a new magician for Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto. Wonderful.
Wow, what a great performance. Her smiles seemed to make the music seem so delicate and light. I love to be able to watch the artist play. It makes another dimension to the enjoyment.
I can say, listening the music from heaven and watching the concentration of every musician, is a touching, healing and beautiful experience to me. I have kept listening this footage at least once a week, for over half a year. Thanks you all.
So playful and sparkling, her fingers dance over the keys and make this Colossus sound like a cool summer breeze on a hot day. Amazing.
Simply exquisite. This performance by Ms. Lasheras, the orchestra, the sound engineering; I all but forgot I was not live at this concert.
Still love to hear this at 96!
I've heard it played many times by many artists, but this is the first time it gave me goose bumps!

An outstanding performance in every manner. Ms Lasheras is a joy and a delight. Beethoven is smiling in Heaven.
Yes, i Hope so. Beethoven is really smiling In Heaven.
@@pauloribeiro1979 ... condescending...
I don't think Ludwig did much smiling... Perhaps the angels have fixed his ears
Men, how can Beethoven did so sublime the second movement " Adagio un poco mosso"? Congratulations Rosalia. Sublime performance.
Lovely - she handles that amazing transition to the finale - one of music's great moments in my view - perfectly
Her "it's all yours now" nod to the orchestra at 1:46 is perfectly captured! As well as her "I am one with Beethoven-- across 200 years" at 15:20! Simply stunning.
Beautiful comment, and full of truth...
The nod is to the Conductor; to gesture to the orchestra itself, bypassing the "Dirigent", would be very bad etiquette. The orchestra works for him, not the soloist.
Piano: as exciting as it gets. Orchestra: as boring as it gets.
@@PaulZink
She knows what to do!
I totally agree with you
Rosalia Gomez Lasheras by far, has all the absolute attributes of a genius on the Piano! Her attire, posture, and Beauty is so unique that the Bar has been reached way above most all piano artist! She has set the appearance of what models every upcoming student on the Ivories which one will strive to achieve as their goal!
she is got class ...that is all..
Easier with "geniuses". "...attire, posture, and Beauty..." ??!! Do you want to get Mrs. Gomez's attention?!
One of the very best recordings of a wonderful concerto. This stellar performance has life, soul and feeling, it even talks (if you listen), - absolutely outstanding. It warms my heart.

What a phenomenal performance. Why is the audience not up on its feet, going wild? This is as good as it gets. Superb.
My thoughts exactly and then I noticed the advanced age of most of the audience. Either, they'd forgotten their hearing aids or everyone's arthritis was flaring up. I've heard this piece many times but none have come close to creating such a magical experience. Wish I had been there.
Never heard better!
I can see how stunned the audience must be as everything I return to the wholeness of alpha & amega of this performance the awe of joy of exuberance of appreciation of perfection
is an absolute jaw dropper
I wondered the same--what a 'dead' lot!!
I don't think Germans are renowned for public displays of emotional exuberance...
In love with this stunning performance. Both Miss Lacheras and the orchestra touched skies ♥️
Indeed creative and awesome...
Absolument merveilleux et grandiose ! Magnifique virtuosité, formidable pianiste. Très grand orchestre. Admirable chef d’orchestre !!!
38:19 This is the BEST rendering of the passage I've heard so far. It brought me tears with joy.
Incredible .... Best Emporer ever. Thank you Rosalia, Beethoven would have approved ❤❤❤❤❤
Rosalia Gomez Lasheras has surely made her position as an excellent pianoplayer and let us hope she will continue her excellent professionalism in playing more superb concertos!
She has obviously a exceptional talent.
Utterly mesmerising! Rosalia's face is such a precious study in expression as she gets totally caught up in this knockout Beethoven masterpiece.
Knockout herself !
I usually do not listen to Beethoven except for some pieces I’ve been accustomed to since childhood, but I am suddenly fascinated by this performance guided by the RUclips algorithm. Although I know this piece, this is the first experience for me. Beautiful!
😅
II. Adagio un poco mosso = best piece of music i have ever hear.
Masterful performance of a Superlative composition by the world's greatest composer - Ludwig Van Beethoven.
When people applaud in between parts it's not because they are novices but because they like the interpretation very much. So do I. Bravooo !

Ms. Lasheras conveys Beethoven's power and delicacy without a hint of being over-wrought--hats off, here's genius!
Marvie A - Absolutely ....only if not for those RUDE interruptions during Adagio movement...A DISGRACE to a marvelous performance !!!

Pleitesía eterna a ambos.
Amazing and elegant performance. Her hands and long fingers were designed to play the piano. Nice body choreography and posture. You've got a fan Rosalía!

Great pianist, she understands the score in contrast to many others. That takes an enormous amount of work, well done.
She performs "Emperor" with great sensitivity, agility and vigor. And she is lovely to behold! Oh- and the orchestra was great too!
... although not on par?
Just wonder if Beethoven himself would have performed it with as much sensitivity? Also, it would have sounded quite different on a fortepiano.
This may be Heaven. You convey Talent, Creativity and Hope. Abrazos desde la congelada Patagonia, Argentina.
Stunning! Miss Lasheras brings an unexpected and simply mindblowing elasticity to the piece, injecting air between notes where others never seem to have thought possible, showing us pockets of calming sensuality hidden in Beethoven's masterpiece. Utterly breathtaking. Thank you.
This wonderful pianist and the Orchestra have done Beethoven justice. Magnificent. Thank you, one and all!
Ms. Gomez Lasheras has become an exceptional artist with a very wide ranging repertoire from Chopin to Beethoven.

I'm surprised there are not millions of views of this video. Its quality is absolutely outstanding.

Perfecta y maravillosa interpretacion de ROSALIA....!
Magnificent first time of seeing and hearing her play absolutely stunning
So lovely to hear an 'Emperor' played without resorting to the sledgehammer technique - beautifully articulated, crystal clear. (Sound engineers deserve a lot of credit too - the balance is spot on).
Quite right, and without the histrionics we often see, especially from young artists who seem to need to prove something. She looks like she's having a great time and almost makes this gargantuan piece look easy.
Ratty Woof: Astute comment if I may say so. James Iska: On the money too!
Agree with you there. She has the most lovely, tasteful sound. But it is still dynamic and vital. Such a nice change from the shredders and crash-bangers who smash the piano to bits trying to over-play.
Ratty Woof Of course the sound engineers are the best. After all, they’re German, aren’t they?
What makes this recording so special for me is not just its quality but the very obvious love, joy and enthusiasm Rosalía has in playing the piece. I share that love for this wonderful piece of music.
You are cherished and admired all the way from Fort Worth Texas!!!✨✨✨
Amazing performance. It touches my soul.

When I was an undergraduate student at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, I would go to concerts every week given by the College of Music. This is where I learned to appreciate the classical music of the great composers Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Vivaldi, Wagner, Grieg, Strauss, and many more.
