    If anyone unfamiliar to the Corfe Castle/ Worth Matravers area watches this, normally May is an excellent time to explore this area, and it's gorgeous. Get the sun and you'll be happy. I speak as someone from the industrial North-east.

Thanks for making the vid and the route info. Think i will keep the southwest costal path. Ive done lots of touring but never touring. Any quick simple tips/advice?
    Thanks again for this video

      Hi Chris, agony waiting for this lockdown to be over especially with this great weather right now. My best tip is watch lots of youtube Bikepacking videos. See The World is epic, I just pick up tips this way. My personal ones are don't forget a magic link for your chain, always have a spare spork, check the power bank before you leave, spare puncture patches loose inside the tyres and finally a water filtration kit. Have a good one when lockdown is over, happy trails ATB Chris.

      Thanks Joff, I'm amazed by your penny farthing set up, that's dedication. I hope to get some trips in this year but for now mountain biking and trail building has been my focus for the last 8 months. Kinda forgot about bikepacking during covid but back soon hopefully. Safe travels Joff, ATB Chris.

    another enjoyable video ! can i ask which make & model are your tri-bars, as they look just like what i need for my bike, also... those blue straps....which make/model are those? cheers

    • @73megalith
      @73megalith  4 года назад

      Hi, the blue straps are cheap no names from local hardware store. The tri bars were ordered online from "PlanetX" or " On One Bikes " websites. I think these sites are run by one parent company, very good deals on bikepacking gear. Hope this helps. Happy Trails, Chris.

    High Chris,
    Great video, loving the trail, hopefully I would like to try a trip similar to yours, (maybe not as far)
    I'm not sure if your familiar with the new e scooters that are becoming ever so popular, (Cant ride them on public roads just yet)
    But I was wondering is there are any laws preventing the use on these cycle routs you were using?
    It's a bit of a challenge I know, but you only live once, the scooter I have has a 50 mile range on one charge. speed up to 28 MPH
    and 7 hours recharging time, but I'm sure I can find a camp site with an electric socket to recharge. let me know what you think.
    Cheers Don. P.S Honest I'm not Crazy, just love the out doors and freedom to roam. lol

      Hi Donald, firstly thankyou, I'm glad you like the video of my trip last year. Let's hope things improve with covid- 19 soon, there may be no trips away this year. Regarding your question I really wouldn't like to recommend trying this on an E-scooter. I'm no expert but where would you keep the kit used on a tour? The cycle route uses public roads most of the time,some roads were busy and would be risky using an E- scooter, I'm sure that using E-scooters on some cycle tracks is safe and legal ( camel trail and drakes trail as an example) As the law could be changing very soon on E-scooters this could open up a whole new genre of ultra light scooter touring, happy trails. ATB Chris.

      @@73megalith hi Chris thanks for your reply, I agree with you my friend maybe not advisable to use on some of these pathways as some riders on the scooters don't behave in a bublic friendly way, I don't know if you have ever watched any videos of these scooters, but some of them are monsters and can go at very high speeds, I think if the government are to slacken of the laws on there use there has to be some sort of athoritve code on the way users must use these things responsibly, it is a great time to encourage people out of the car van lorry and reduce the pollution in the air, we have never had the quality of fresh air today for maybe the last 20/30 years, i know we're going to Always need fuel driven transport for next so many years, but I do hope the transport secretary can get some sort of legaslation done quickly to open up roads routs and country pathways with lanes for the small electric transport, maybe with small fine for any one flaunting the curtesy rules on them. I wish you well on your ride outs on your bike, I'm out on my bike today taking advantage of this weather, will keep a look out for your videos, very enjoyable, oh and Chris take some matches with you for a back up lol, was good to see you using flint I was impressed how quick you got your fire going though. Take care Chris always some crazy drivers on the roads, be safe

    Too bad u got "doored", always somthing I'm looking for when riding by parked cars. I always try to stay a doors width out as I narrowly avoided being taken out by a git some years back.

      Hi Alexander, I am way more cautious now after that experience. Had a fair few spills on my MTB so I guess I reacted fairly well with the tuck n roll. My lucky day. Bike not so lucky! Driver was a decent guy and everything got sorted out after the trip. Cheers , Chris.

    How did you Google Maps -> GPX?

    • @73megalith
      @73megalith  3 года назад

      The side tab on Google maps has a share of embed option. I copy and paste the data into a site called Maps To GPX ( mapstogogpx.com ) then you get a downloadable box file. All free, and as the site clearly states , " this site is built by a GPS amateur, please treat output with scrutiny. The only issues I have had stem from Google maps and not maps to gpx. Unsure you have only one route one Google maps , no alternative options as Google sometimes shows. Check out youtube for how this works for more clarity, hope this helps , happy trails, Chris.

      @73megalith  4 года назад

      Hi Captain Cranky, 700c wheels , 36mm Continental Double Fighter 2. I was hoping to get the 2 inch mtb Double Fighters but not enough clearance at the crown of my forks. A good tyre for £15. Cheers, Chris.

      Were you not worried about how the 2 inch tire would slow you down?

    • @73megalith
      @73megalith  4 года назад +1

      @@MrCcrank Yeah they would be slower, I'm sure the extra comfort and traction on the off road sections would be a fair trade off. I had been watching another channel on YT called Path Less Peddled, some great advice on there and wanted to try a larger volume tyre. I'm sticking with what I have as they performed fine. Cheers, Chris.
