I was touring down that way last summer (and my husband is from Devon), beautiful scenery but oh those hills! Next time it will be the road bike and a credit card 😀
Thanks for the comment We Love your channel (What size are your Marathon Plus Tyres on your bike) I am Using 700 x 32c and thinking of going larger for Tow paths and off-road jaunts on my Minnie Tours.
Thanks for the Comment Matt Yes it was the Superlight 3x2.9m DD Tarp with the Hilleberg Akto inner Tent, this can be used using a piece of kit ( cord type thing ) to hold the Single Pole without the flysheet this gives me all the Added Room from the Tarp to Spread my Gear Around me in some stunning Locations Cheers. Spike.
Thanks Paul for the Comment the front rack was the original fitted My Trek 920 its a Bontrager EN 14872 and has a 23 kg load and is only 570 gram, the rack is so good with a strong top part that i do now use to bolt on a box so no need for a handle bar bag also i have made a table top for it that so i now can strap it to a tree whist Hammock camping to cook from while Touring . Video out soon thanks .
Thanks Mathew i do not get a chance to do this as often as i wish so it's all in the planning so if you do anything like this plan for everything and work around the unexpected.
spikeypiplove hi, i will be biking slower, and did you need or like a little something better in a "bear grylls" Vitamin at your age to help with "lance armstrong" everydays? For sure? Or maybe you didn't need anything extra over food. -just thinking
Looks fun! Where did you camp the last night? How did you find the hammock? I'm doing some touring this summer and a couple of us want to hammock camp but it seems like finding spots is a bit tricky in the UK.
Yes it was fun thanks Alex the place I set up the hammock Camp for my DD Superlight Hammock and Tarp was Fernworthy forest on Dartmoor Not easy in a heavy Thunderstorm I did cross a stream to find a good spot and carried the bike and bag’s separately to do so, Once setup the 3 x 2.9 m tarp Did the job fine also the homemade bugnet worked well, as it was July My sleeping pad did me fine But be aware on cool nights a Hammock Quilt will be needed underneath the Hammock or you may have a cold Butt Hang.
Hi, I'm thinking about buying the 2018 model, is the bicycle good on highway asphalt? Is it good if you are loaded or is a burden? by clues. Trails works well, thanks.
Thanks yes The 2017 TREK 920 Rides very well on the Road - Highway and I will put my trust in it to Take me with a full Load many Miles - Kilometres in the Future, there are a few defences with the 2018 model with Bar end shifters Removed also the TRP Brakes Replaced with SRAM .
I really like the look of the trek 920…Im also looking at a few Surly options…Its a mine field would you recommend the Trek over other options you may have already ridden? great video too.. I would like to use it over all terrains..
Thanks John Yes, I would recommend the Trek 920 it’s the only Touring bike I have owned and Rode it is so versatile and Built to handle loads of Different Conditions I used 32 mm Schwalbe Marathon plus Tyres for 1400 miles so far, at the end of day Two of this Tour a large Thorn was removed with no damage to the Tube the 5mm of Tyre Saved the Day, check out Realworld Vegan and his long bike Tour After seeing all his Blog on RUclips on His 2016 920 My mind was made up.
Thanks Gekke Yes, I would recommend the Trek 920 For Touring Built Like a Tank Strong and solid to Take all the weight you wish to take on it’s Two racks, bike packing with a small load is good but in the real world you will always need to put extra gear on the bike to have a Self-contained Adventure.
Hi, thanks for your answer. I recently bought the Trek 920 ( 2018 model) and i can say i didn't regret it for 1 second ! absolute great bike! I had to do some adjustments tho ( shorter steerstem from 12mm to 6 mm, and a bit wider steer with less '' reach'' so my sitting position is a bit more upright ) now this bike fits like a glove and this thing is FAST!! Even with the big bontrager xr1 tires on it! i commute everyday to work an back. Im thinking about changing the tires to swalbe maybe since now i drive mainly on the roads, did you noticed any difference in eaze of riding after your changed the tires? Greets from The Netherlands!
Well Gekke I did see a difference in comfort it was a little more bumpy but still rides well on the road maybe faster, on some of the off road tracks I have been on I wish I had more the a 31mm Tyre at times, The only Difficulty is in fitting the tight Tyres to the rim so use Cable ties as seen on a upload by (w2a2aa ) you will need to see this I am sure buddy. PS i did put a shorter stem on after using my bike for 2 weeks.
i like your style , a little different, great pictures, i wish it was me who did that tour! good for you
This is what it's all about . well done great video.

Nice bike/tarp set up...
Thanks David the Tarp gives me the opportunity to Hammock camp in our wet UK Weather.
spikeypiplove I liked the ground. and a sort of barrier around to keep "buglets" or snakes out....
How to you compare it to 1120
Great.
Hi Sir, How do you like the Trek 920 for touring?
The Trek 920 2017 was so solid and reliable on this ride I have done 1600 miles so far this year on it .
