Besides profiling the wonderful people along the way, we'll be asking everyone for LOVE advice. Our route will take us from Oregon to New York and WE WANT YOU to help out. If you have any ideas of places to visit, friends to meet, or burritos to eat, find us on social media and point us in the right direction.

I am REALLY excited you did the Eerie Canalway because I want to take my wife on a trip from Buffalo to Albany that way! And now your instagram tells me.... I could go all the way to NYC on railtrails?!?! Damn, Duzer.
Awesome, I'm sure we'll make it there someday!
yeah man!! It was the best!!! NY has soooo many rail trails
I also road ride alot. Most billboards have a outlet at the base somewhere. Good charging tip in a pinch
oooh, I'll have to check that out! thanks
GENIUS! This is an amazing and useful tip for anyone. Thanks!
Planning to ebike to the East coast in the summer. Thanks for this tip!
Awesome to know. Thanks!
This is awesome. Loved hearing google maps will take you anywhere you want to go. Inspirational ❤️
Our mascot is a Super Flying Monkey. The wife and I flew to Kansas City, bought two Walmart $85 mountain bikes, peddled the KATY Trail (300 miles) to St. Luis. Stayed at AirB&B's. Then we gave away the bikes, flew home. Great trip!
This is one of THE BEST touring prep videos I have seen. Thank you to for your help in getting us all on the road. You two are the best!
Very helpful, Thanks and Thanks for the smiles You give with each video. :)
Yay I love this video! I've been wanting to do bike touring and this gave me great info to start! Now all I need are a biking buddy, a route and some better knees. Stay awesome Ryan!
What a great video! Super handy information, just what I needed.
A very informative, fun video!! You guys really brighten my day. 😀 Thanks for the tips!! I backpack quite a bit and as you say, Ryan..... “Don’t go down that rabbit hole of having to buy all expensive gear!” I try to keep it light and simple. 👍🏻
Onward to the next video!! BTW, after being married for nearly 26 years, I’m still learning everyday and have gleaned knowledge from the folks you’ve met. 😀
Thanks my man! There's a lot of wisdom out there, just gotta ask people for it sometimes :) Enjoy the vids!
Thank you so much for making this video and documenting your journey!! It has been so helpful for us and given us information to embark on our journey!! ❤❤❤
Andrew and Melissa O'Neill have so much fun on your adventure!
Just got the 2020 checkpoint.. this is PERFECT!! thank you! Safe travels

I missed you two! Very inspirational....hope you're still in LOVE!
Thanks for this. I'm new to multi-day touring and this was a lot of great info.
Jeff Surtees glad to help!
very positive vibes... thanks guys
What a sympathetic couple and a nice video too. My most important gear where some bags to put on my bike and I borrowed the first one.
Great video. Spot on especially with respect to merino wool. It is great for drying quickly and not holding odors like synthetic material will.
This is without a doubt one of the best videos on youtube. Great information in a short succinct format. Wow, I appreciate the great thought that went into this video. I like the wool shirt idea as well. I just subscribed because I've just taken up bicycling (again) and plan to do a lot of riding and camping. Thanks for a super helpful and informative video!
Thanks Joseph for watching and subscribing! I have tons of bike touring videos to get you psyched about riding. Happy trails!
Good to see the simplicity of your set up.
You are entertaining and joyful. 😊
Supremely sensible, and your gear complements each others shortcomings, proper teamwork.
I'm so inspired! I'm a long distance hiker--having thru hiked the Appalachian and Pacific Crest trail and I see many similarities between the experiences of bike touring and thru hiking. I'm not a cyclist, but your videos are making me think a bike tour across america needs to be on my bucket list!
We found you on line while planning a hike of the Three Passes Trek in Nepal and have been following your other adventures ever since!
Thanks for sharing such wonderful and positive stories.
you guys are amazing! thank you both!
This was really helpful! Thank you!
ciao Ryan and Ali grazie per i vostri consigli!!!
Thanks guys!!!
You guys are the best! I love your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Todd! Stay tuned for more, soon!
Thanks. You have the spirit that l need to learn and be informed. You guys are cool
Thanks buddy! Hope you enjoy the series
Yesssss 🙌🏼 been waiting for this! Thanks for showing this guys!!!
Ashley Lawrence thanks for watching!
Im like 96%sure this is the 1st video of yours a saw over a year ago and i have probably watched it 3 times now. I have been binge watching the great divide mountain bike touring videos. I have been planing a 5000+ bike trip around the USA (for 2022 hopefully) and this is very fun stuff to watch on the stationary bike during training.
Awesome!! Your trip sounds amazing, have fun!!
Is The Great Divide Trail vehicle free and only for bicycles & hikers?
What route you aiming to cycle? I’ll be doing Seattle - Miami in 2022
This is the best packing video I've seen. It is a great reminder that you don't need to bring a crazy amount of gear to have a great tour. So pumped now for a summer tour, 2020.
Glad it was helpful!
This has been goal since forever! I finally purchased a bike last week and I’m slowly working on my endurance .. thank you so much for the info!
Right on!! Enjoy that new bike and happy trails
Brilliant, thank you. Preparing for my first ride from Spain to Portugal :)
fun, have a great time!
Thanks! You guys are awesome! And funny, of course!
Really cool. Thank you! My son and I are going West to East coast starting in a few weeks!
Have fun! You are gonna LOVE it
I plan on going from east coast to west then back again in about 2 weeks. Thanks for the extra tips. Wish me luck.

Great to find you guys!! We have just started to do cycle touring and we will definitely follow your channel for advice.
Great! Hope you enjoy the channel, there's LOTS of bike touring videos here
I want to take my bike on a trip. Ive never done a trip before so im going to pick a location close to me and take my time. This helped me a lot thank you
Hello!! Thanks for the video! My dad and I are doing it once I turn 16
This is the most informative and "organized" what to pack for packing for cycle touring in the YTube forest. Add for sure, start simple and easy to keep clean and hygienic with the butter knife. So many are felled with gut issues not from bad water as bugs in the kitchen. As a 50+ year wilderness backpacker, I needed the shaved down to the essentials outlook for cycle touring. I was always turned off by the 4-5 large pannier hogs I see creeping through the west and wondered when the Ultralight revolution was going to sweep bike touring. That you both kept to low center of gravity Ortlieb panniers with a modest handlebar bag was inspirational. Two many bags, and they are going to get filled up with stuff. Yes I shave and keep short hair; on the trail or road, it is just healthier. With the areas you traveled this off regular touring path I would suggest a SOS messenger like an Garmin InReach or SPOTX in the wide open West without cellular coverage. I used a SPOTX for two months and three trips and such a great tool. I need to know how hard is it to find refritos west of the Mississippi?
“It’s not about the stuff you carry, it’s about the places you go.” This belongs on a T shirt! Words to live by. Thanks for the update. Although I’m bummed about the break in the videos and having to wait two weeks, this has sucked me into your other videos. Which are great!
I recommend The Nepal series, or Cuba, or Caballo Blanco...they're all fun:) Thanks for watching and I'll be back at it soon! Cheers
I was watching Cuba the other day. The Caballo Blanco you'll watch over and over again.
Exactly! You're taking yourself across country, not your gear
light stuff n simple...good info...tq.
Congrats you two!!
Hello im from Montréal Québec ,, love you guys keep making Nice and inspiring video.,
daro lim I was in Montreal in June for velo Quebec, loved it!
Wifey and I, enjoyed your fun video, again, as always. Of course you are on roads, and not in the bush, so there are some things you are not carrying. Looking forward to more videos. :)
Ok. I'll be here waiting for the rest of the videos...
Just watched this vid. First time seeing you two. At last some cheery no-guff info that hits the spot for me. Thanks.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy my vids
Thanks for sharing Mike
I do so much agree with you guys about minimalistic clothing baggage, sometimes we meet peopke with sooo many and sooo lig panniers... maybe just for a weekend out lol ! Great video, thanks!
Yep, less is more! No reason for all that stuff...happy trails!
This was really helpful! Thanks!

Nicely done Ryan. Another great video. Cheers mate 🇬🇧...🇺🇸
Great video! Straight to the point and entertaining
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Heeeey!!! ... Parceros, me encantó su video. Un fuerte abrazo desde Colombia... Love you.
You guys are awesome.
Great video! I did a week's tour last month and, being in England, was going city-to-city on a road bike. Something I found invaluable when planning using Google's bike directions was to check Streetview every so often to get a sense of road/path surface and traffic - if bike paths didn't look well-surfaced from where they departed the road, I avoided them so as not to find myself sinking into a bog somewhere on 28mm tyres. (Luckily many of the National Cycle Network paths here are asphalt or compacted gravel, but some are...less useful.)
I lost my tire tools on a tour and was able to make wood ones with my Swiss Army knife and a stick I found by the roadside. I also made a tire boot from a milk jug. Always carry a pocket knife and a vivid imagination...
This was a very helpful video thanks for posting!
Francis Sweeney thanks for watching!
this was very helpful. thankyou. here, the tires, the pocket knife and the bag to separate gear... very helpful and yes i will remeber the number one rule is to enjoy the ride
Happy trails buddy
Holy Carp you two are hilarious! ...and thanks for the tip on the Marathon tires. I've been thinking about a pair for my Hybrid Touring Bike and am sold. Swim Suit(s) also a great idea, but the alternative at night is even better. ;)
Christopher, I've been running Marathon Plus tires on all my bikes since 2006. I have NEVER had a flat tire since using them. I average 1000-1500 miles per year.
Here's the details of my testimony:
1. They are on my 4 year old folding Bike Friday (I ordered the bike with them from BF - 20 inch),
2. They are on my 8 year old Surly Long Haul Trucker 26" wheels (my main bike),
3. They are on my Trek Mtn Bike (not used all that much, but when used it's been rougher trails).
4. They're also on a second REI folding bike i've had for several years.
5. On top of that my wife rides my older REI Safari that I bike toured in both 2006 & 2007 in New Zealand with my very first pair of Marathon Plus, and she's still riding on those tires!
6. And finally, this is a great story, I had a second Surly Long Haul Trucker that had 700c wheels on it, which I used for street riding (which I do very little of now - too much traffic and too many distracted drivers). I had also replaced
the original tires when purchased with Schwalbe Marathon Plus. I put couple thousand miles on those tires, then sold the bike to a college kid in Indiana who biked cross-country with 3 buddies... I told him the Marathon plus were bullet-proof tires, he wanted to replace them, but he wound up keeping them.... out of four guys, he was the only one with no flats across the country, and the other 3 had several flats. one cyclist I think had 6 or 7!
Bottom line... I still carry a tube, a patch kit and a pump on rides... but since fitting all my bikes with Schwalbe Marathon Plus - in 12 years I've NEVER had a flat (I hope I'm not jinxing myself!!)
I don't even ride but this was super informative. Good to know if I ever pick up this hobby.
Awesome video!
I am from India your a motivational ,true Nature lover .i also do cycling
Thank you.
thank you Ryan and Ali, great information
Glad you enjoyed it!

You two are Awesome ‼️
Sweet video!
Awesome video. And very helpful.
Thanks, have fun out there!
love you guys thank you
Thanks Guys some great advice there. All I need now is the courage to set off on an adventure. Doesn't help that my wife keeps telling I am far too old & I will get killed. Mind you she has got a point as I did blow myself up in a tent once on a motorcycle tour. Hopefully you've already seen them but check out the Beard Brothers videos who tour over here in the UK your enjoy them. Safe travels & I didnt know just how much I need to cram into one life.
You can do it Ted!! I promise!!!
Good video!
Love your videos Ryan & Ali. Great tips. BTW I found a great British outdoor company named ALPKIT. Their gears are great and great price. I just did a tour in Italy with their bags and are great. Keep posting and riding!
Thanks Alfredo! Happy trails to you!
So true about the tent stakes!
Very much about riding your bike with a backpack and being happy overall! Nuff said, yeah buddy!
You guys are too much fun
One bit of gear that might be worth mentioning, that you don’t carry, is cooking gear. I like to cook dinner, and heat water for oatmeal and hot chocolate in the morning. I carry a Soto stove, iso-butane fuel canister, 1.4 liter collapsible pot, bowl, and cup, and a small fry pan (all Sea-to-Summit). I can cook pretty decent meals for less than eating in a restaurant.
Colleen Welch good point! I’m not much of a cooker:)
You would be surprised how many riders cross this country and are never out of reach of food, water, power or lodging for even one night. I carry more gear for cooking than you do even.
Sounds like you need to buy better bikes, Don.
Yes, absolutely, cook kit and small stove are must-haves. Not only save money over restaurants and avoid junk food at fast-food salt pits, but you also save lots of time not having to ride around looking for food places, and that extra time for pedalling really adds up.
Great info for cooking outdoors. Thanx !!
You guys are great! Excellent video! I just subscribed.
Thanks for subscribing! Hope you enjoy my videos
Thank you for this helpful video, you guys are really cute!
