Really solid advice. I have to say that your vids are inspiring, even to a 53 year old bike tourer like myself. Thanks Josh. Hope that the channel keeps going.
Great advice, thanks. My first wild camp, thought I'd found the perfect spot. Nice grass strip at the edge of a wheat field next to the Kennel and Avon canal. Struggled to get tent pegs into the ground. Later found out it was an asphalt track under the grass.
Great advice., on my first one I I got caught in horrendous weather and ended up bailing, still achieved something, but a valuable lesson was learned. Great video 👍
If your going to have to fire as i do depending on location ... Clear the area , only use wind fallen wood Keep fire small in the morning scoop ash up , and scatter about And clean up Don't leave a trace ......
I totally over pack for mid winter camps including riding in with an ammo can stove and go as light as possible during summer camps. Great informative vid as always mate 👍🏕
I really want to light a fire, bought a portable titanium stove, titanium mug and cutlery. Also special knives for cutting wood and a small cast iron pot. Only after this all bought, found out that illegal to light fires on public land in Auckland. Seems to be the same there too.
New sub, really like the videos. Looking for a little bit of advice what sort of tyres would be suitable for riding in February. I'm riding on the Carrera kenda tyres atm. TIA
definitely just get out for a couple night trip, it's the best way to figure it out. not much changes from my kit apart from a warmer sleeping bag in the colder months. I don't know if you have seen it but i have a video with all the gear i took on the great north trail ruclips.net/video/e5oKSoPoMk0/видео.html
yes to both i had planned to do the lakeland 200 a couple weeks back but stuff kept getting in the way, bike/gear breakages camera broke. lots of waiting around on warranty and all that fun stuff, but yeaah soon :D
Big don’t sadly - don’t wild camp What is going to happen when wild camping becomes a criminal offence rather than civil as it is now. When the land owner does not want you camping on your land and instead of just asking you to leave they decide to call the police? Don’t think some landowners won’t. Possible criminal record and 3 month prison sentence for enjoying the country side and leave no trace camping What is this country coming too. This bill will go through parliament sadly. This bill could destroy backpacking and bikepacking and would force everyone onto official campsites only. Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill 2021
That bill is clearly aimed at travellers. And the offence is still only committed if you refuse to leave, 'The offence will be committed if a person who resides or intends to reside with a vehicle on land fails to leave the land or remove their property without reasonable excuse when asked to do so by the occupier of the land, ' So nothing really changes for wild camping a night, if you were to be caught by the land owner and you were asked to leave you leave, no arguments. Which is highly unlikely if you are doing wild camping properly.
@@KeepSmilingAdventures If people believe this law won’t be used on wild campers and unhappy landowners then I think we are naive. This law basically makes trespass a civil matter into a criminal matter.
@@KeepSmilingAdventures this law is to stop unwanted travelers making a mess. leave no evidence. Bivvy bag takes 30 seconds to setup or put away. stop when its dark , up with the sun.

Yeah i don't want it, but if the law is passed and is worded like that then as long as you just leave thats the end of it.
