    Yes, I am at home and weeping.... Richie is great, no question. But Rick's infectious smile and his so-familiar face can never be replaced..... And that voice!! Man could he sing!!

    Richie Malone, new man.
    This will do for me!
    Cannot replace Rick, nobody can, you cannot replace a legend, but Richie is doing so well here, long may he reign.

    I have been listening to Status Quo since 1978, and with the exception of a few of the 80's albums, I think they are all great. Quid Pro Quo, the last electric one they made is one of their best, in my humble opinion. I was sad to hear about Rick Parfitt, but a lot of bands continue on after a major player leaves. Status Quo may not be the same without Parfitt, but they still have three players in the current band that have been with them for years. Edwards has been their bass player for pretty much the same amount of time Lancaster was. I think he joined in 1985, and I actually like his style of playing better. Andy Brown has been a member since 1976. They are both just as legitimate as the two founding members they replaced. I hope they continue to make music. I live in the US and very few people over here are familiar with them, but I am a fan for life!

    no one can ever reach rick parfitt! for sure richie is pretty good... he plays the intro super nice and easy... but rick parfitt was just another class...he was one of a kind! and one of the rockers that rocked on till he dies.... rest in peace rick... no one will ever forgett you. hope rossi thinks the same....

    If you don't like the run of it, don't go to their gig. Stay at home, living in the glory days while trying not to drown in your negativity. Good for you Richie Malone, not only are you living the dream but you are helping to keep the Quo story alive.

      David Baird the glory days of quo where truly fantastic because i followed them throughout the seventies and beyond , piledriver released in 1971 was the real quo and is there crowning glory , the proper quo , Rick , Francis , Allan , John , only quo fans of a certain generation can truly appreciate there music , the passing of Rick parfitt brought the curtain down and the party is over now , listen to status quo at there brilliant best , piledriver for a start and not the Rossi embarrassment of marguerita time , that truly awful record haunts me to this day and no wonder Allan Lancaster wouldn't have anything to do with it , Rick was also found it a embarrassment was just Rossi and is ego trip , all been said there my band and always will be .

      @23rdjune 7 лет назад +1

      Piledriver was released in 1972. It was 'Dog Of Two Head' that was released in '71. Agree with most of the rest of your post. Was great to see the 'Frantic Four' renunion. Real Quo, not cabaret Quo!

    Quo were always two people. Francis and Rick. The band changed around them but they were constants. Richie is very good and does a brilliant job. I always said that once the duo were split, then the band as was would be gone. That is true. I understand Francis wanting to carry on in the same way... But... Francis, do what Noel Gallagher did. Play your music, both old and new but under a different name. You can still rock but start afresh with a new slant on your brilliant history.

    I have watched many clips, many times. And i started thinking. IT SOUNDS the same. Main vocals the same, Rhino on bass, the 4th (?) drummer is good, keyboards spot on as usual and Ritchie is damned good. Quo have not gone. They have a line-up change but the music just belts out as ever. Still a great band. RIP Rick, but the legacy lives on. Reckon i'd best see em live so i can make my own judgement with honesty instead of nostalgia being the main factor. I never thought i'd say it. I resisted with ACDC after Malcolm, Brian and Cliff left. Quo's sound deserves a live test..... Watch this space.......

    Saw the Quo many times.
    Three chords and a whole lot of memories..
    This new guy couldn't stop smiling!...
    As long as the fans want to hear it,keep rockin..
    RIP Rick.

    Richie is very good..... but. He,s not Rick. We always think of a band who have a couple of base elements. Rick and Francis. Angus and Brian. Axl and Slash and so on. The sound may live on but it ain;t the same. Never. Cry baby i'm not and realise that soime/all bands fail after losing key members. The Status Quo i knew is gone. No worries. Saw em live loadsa times and have great memories. It happened to AC/DC, Guns and Roses, and stacks of other bands. Don,t argue who was best... Enjoy the music and play it to ur kids. It's the way of ROCK and ROLL.... It stays alive through the fans... Back em and enjoy em... You cannot change life, just enjoy it.......

    Quo was a major influence on me in my younger days but I drifted away when John and Alan left. And now without Rick it's not quo to me at all anymore.
    But still, it's quo to many others out there so boogie on boys.

    I saw the Quo in Dublin the day after Rick quit. It was One of their best concerts and I've seen plenty of them. Francis and Rick (RIP) lost their voices a few years ago and the introduction of Rhino and Andrew as singers actually restored some of the early Quo sound. I thought Richie was great albeit ,understandably,a bit nervous. So long as Rossi wants to continue playing ,there's no reason to stop. Rock on Quo

    I know any real Quo fan is sad about Rick's passing, but I`m sure he had more of a life then most of us will ever have even if we live to be a 100 yrs old. Well apart from that what`s all the crap about playing three chords, if you are so clever go buy youyself a guitar learn to play it then stand on stage in front of a few thousand people, then we`ll see how good you are !

    Here we go again, the usual keyboard critics, Francis Rossi is 67 and dear old Rick wants to stay alive for a few more years rather then kill himself on stage, nothing stays the same. Have seen Quo since 1968 at the Marquee, and many times over the years including last night at the O2 London, just enjoy it, or maybe just stop going to live gigs.They have never pretended to be a heavy metal band or play to perfection like David Gilmore, and if they do play a few bum notes now and then, so what !

    I.m all for Richie joining the band. Rick said he was leaving the band due to ill health. Rick will be sadly missed but if the Quo reckon they can carry on without him, then fair go lads. IF you wanna go LIVE and reckon it won,t be the same without Rick, then do not go. IF you wanna see Quo songs live, then your only option is to go and watch them incl Richie. Fair play and get on it ....

    Due to animosity Rick was leaving anyway so Richie's path was already laid (as it was 9 years ago). Sad as it was Rick's death decided it all. Richie is not just a dep, he is Quo.

    • @Araretoy
      @Araretoy 7 лет назад +3

      Well their voices have aged in time too (Listen to Caroline here and then pull out an album and listen. ). I find the playing is very close if you close your eyes and not know which video is playing (of course if you've watched all the youtube concerts that is kinda difficult). So many great bands have lost members and replaced members. There will always be small nuisances to be picked up on. The songs and rifts are still classic Quo.
      But that is the wonderful thing about the Internet. Everyone is welcome to their opinions (preferably without judgement). It's like asking Quo fans what is the BEST Quo song. There will be many arguments.

    • @daviddevlin2462
      @daviddevlin2462 7 лет назад +2

      i wrote this 6 months ago not long after Rick had passed, to be honest if Rick hadn't of passed but simply had to quit for health reasons, which is what more or less what was going to happen, I still wouldn't follow Quo with out him playing. I am only replying to this as you asked "why still writing then" as I said it was 6 months ago and I am entitled to my opinion. Quo just isn't Quo anymore well for me anyway.
      I will always enjoy the music but will never watch them live again.
