My friend Jaap Janssen... ( We are both from the Netherlands) came up with this group... never heard of it. I was with artists as Sailor and so. This shook me to the bone. We both loved it and Status Quo would go with us trough our early years of our yought. First moped, First car, first to kiss a girl, school, homework, resitance to our parents, first job and start our own life. Sadly my friend Jaap passed away in december 2008. Status Quo became a symbol of our life. Thanks Status Quo. Thanks Jaap!
I first saw these guys way back in the early seventies. In my chair was going up the charts. There was a grand total of 6 of us there. We didn't think they would bother coming on stage. They did. What an evening that was. Fantastic time. I am now in my 70s and remember it as yesterday. One of, if not the best, rock bands ever. Thank you Status Quo
What a fantastic memory. Almost brings tears to my eyes imagining that experience for you. I loved these guys. Met them all and blah blah blah. First concert I saw them was mid 70’s after “roll over lay down” was released as a single. I’m still playing their stuff when I head home from work on a Friday afternoon . Sets the tone for the evening 👍🏻👍🏻🙏
Man! The energy from the crowd at this gig is insane! Rossi says he looks back at this gig with embarrassment as they were coked off their heads. Still a stellar live performance from the lads I say! As someone who wasn't around to see them in their 70s/80s hey-day, eternally grateful got the chance to see the Frantic Four reunion back in 2013. Long live the mighty Quo!!!
Rossi described Quo as a "BOS band" (Bums On Seats). A very popular live act and for good reason. One of those acts with an ability to connect with its audience with little difficulty. I can't remember the year but they played a pub in Ipswich at a time when they'd sell out the local concert hall within hours. I'm not sure if the pub gig was a one-off or part of a tour of similar venues. People take the piss out of Quo for not being virtuosos although they never claimed to be, but a Quo gig was a great night out.
Francis Rossi will never die! ❤❤❤❤ He is eternal Quo has been my life. I cannot imagine a Quoless world. Quo is every breath i breathe, their riffs and their lyrics are in tune to the beat of my heart.
Saw Quo last night for free at Dreamland in Margate. Loved it. That's why I came to this page - forgotten about this song until it blew me away last night. Just wish I'd got to see them live when Rick Parfitt {and Alan Lancaster - but I'd have been a bit young when he quit} were still there. Btw, I've into a few gigs there for free cos a mate organises some work for them at times, and there were hardly any people filming on phones last night when there's often loads. My wife was working there for our mate yesterday and having never taken a selfie in her life before, she took one of her and Francis Rossi and sent it to me. As a kid I lived not far from where Rossi grew up - mum and dad pointed out the house loads of times when we drove from Coulsdon past Purley.
Soooo many years ago....and yet when I hear their music and see the people enjoying, it feels as it was yesterday.... I miss the seventies when I was child ...teenager... Life is running too fast!
Back when audiences danced, got shitfaced and muddy. Not watching the concert through a bloody phone screen! Man, Quo really were fukin great live........ if you never saw them, boy did you miss something. They _always_ gave 1000% everytime!
Francis was the epitome of cool in those days. The way they transformed from a pop group to one of the greatest rock bands in history is just amazing. USA never caught on, their loss!!
The fact that they never did well in USA was probably a good thing for the UK fans otherwise I wouldn't have had the chance to see them about 16 times.
@@rockdinosaur666 They were great weren’t they ! My brother and me used to literally follow them round the country. Saw them dozens of times (tickets were cheap in the early 70’s). Used to wander backstage regularly ( no security back then either). Spent a good half hour talking to Francis and Rick at Malvern Winter Gardens after that gig just after “Piledriver” came out. Great times.
@@jknott1003 You missed some great stuff my friend. I was at this gig and many others. You couldn't help but have a good time. Quo had many hits worldwide. Apart from buying a greatest hits album you could do a lot worse than than listen to one of their earlier albums, Piledriver. I've got a feeling you might enjoy it. Happy listening 🇬🇧🇺🇲💕

If you saw Status Quo in the 70's, it was like listening to a runaway jet ! You left the concert feeling really 'pumped' and wishing you could do it all again !!
Amazing to think they were backing up Rory, most folk have never heard of him in the UK, but he was up there with Jimi Hendrix in shear genius and ability. Another sad loss, far too soon.
All of us who saw them live know how good they were in their prime. Saddened to hear that John Coghlan has retired due to ill health. Keep well John, one of the best.
I was singing this at work in '78 when I did a Tony Iommi impersonation in a machine I working on. My band was booked into a studio to record our first single the following Saturday. Just once I wanna play this loud before I die!
As a guitar player myself, that made my blood run cold! Don't wait my friend, life is too short.. play this loud whenever you feel like it! Your neighbours should consider it an education!!
