"Surely all of you can see it..." Pauses video for 20 seconds... Still clueless.

Thank you for the surprising newbie tip! Although I enjoy the normal higher level analysis, getting a random beginner level explanation is very helpful for us who are still learning the basics.
It is both skill and luck. Chess is about decisions, estimations an instinct. On another day maybe Radjabov wouldn't have made this mistake. Maybe he could have made another mistake or he could have defended perfectly. Every game of skill has some luck. A game with no luck at all can only be a trivial solved game like tic-tac-toe. Chances were in Aronian's favour because he had skill but these chances were materialized into a win with some luck.
There is no luck here. Radjabov played poorly. Chess is not a game of chance. It is a game where every element is known. It is a contest where the person who makes the least mistakes wins.
Although the level of analysis is remarkable by itself, that combined with the prolificacy of uploads...all with the same quality of analysis...is mind-boggling. Thanks so much for your effort. Have donated (under a different name) and urge all those who have benefited from watching these videos to do the same.
9:48 i did something like that to my teacher not too long ago, and the funniest part is that since i had a lightsquare bishop he said (he usually talks to himself) that he wants all his pieces on dark squares, and then i said that his king was on a light square, and then we joked about it not being so important since it was just the king. Later in the game i won his queen because his king was on the light square :D
I think if Aronian said he was lucky, he was just being polite to Radjabov. Even though Aronian had the better position throughout the game he did not have a completely won game until Radjabov played a poor move in time pressure which Aronian was able to capitalize on. So I think Aronian was saying that Radjabov had the bad luck rather than imply he was totally outplayed. I like this modesty by strong players, rather than bragging, which just leads to bad feelings.
Sometimes I just randomly say "Hello Everyone" like agadmator (or Suren: Hello chess lovers). Now my friends and co-workers think I'm weird but they just don't know the joys of chess.
I have a really stupid question; who are the 14 people that gave this video a thumbs down? I would like for those 14 people to identify themselves. Clearly this is a chess channel; so no one could confuse this with say a shopping, football, baseball, or Porn site. I see a number of thumbs down on pretty much every game chess game Agadmator post. How is that and why is my question in the sincere way possible? Thanks for all of your up loads from all of us that really enjoy your work.
They are people who have no life. Only agadmator gives them purpose where they wait for him to post a video and without watching, they will downvote it. No one knows why they are such sad people that they would do this. I wish I were making this up because it's really embarrassing to describe such a behaviour.
I think Aronian was skillfull at taking advantage of the mistakes in time management and on the board that Radjabov made. So skill was used to take advantage of the luck of having his opponent make the mistakes. :)
#Suggestion Hi Agad. Can you post a video covering some famous openings and analysis of some of their lines. Or maybe as a part of the game. The little analysis of berlin opening in this game was very helpful :)
9:00 would it not be possible to win the rook by going for a queen with the pawn after this exchange? Then you would have compensation for the queen with a rook, bishop and the original pawn you captured... Not sure if that can be forced though...
Some games are won by the winner's skill, some games are lost by the loser's mistake, and some are down to circumstances/luck. That wasn't luck or Aronian winning, it was Radjabov fumbling one.
There is no luck over the board. If your opp makes a losing move, it’s a result of many things (you getting him in Time trouble by having better time management yourself, or you putting pressure on him, or you being more mentally fit than him, thus he cracks under pressure sooner, etc.). None of them is luck. Luck is like, you were scheduled to face a strong opp in the next round but he fails to show up and forfeits because his alarm clock didn’t go off or something lol. But over the board, no luck.
Then you can say that your opponent terribly underestimated technological preparation for the game and your superior sleeping patterns won you the game. Technically you can say there is no luck really. www.brainyquote.com/photos_tr/en/r/ralphwaldoemerson/121133/ralphwaldoemerson1-2x.jpg
MattMexor I agree. Luck is such an arbitrary word in that sense. Hell, maybe Lev said he was lucky diplomatically...like, to soften the blow to his opp’s ego lol.
Seeing an advantage that wasn't seen (skill / experience), knowledge, good/not good... all word related to skill. Then you claim it is luck? People honestly don't know the meaning of the word luck anymore.
How are your thoughts and ability not under your control? Are you mind controlled? Seeing the right move to make is the purest definition of skill. The entire game is making a series of moves better than you opponent. Literally the entire game. How can you possibly argue not making the optimum move is luck? Do you not know the definition of the word skill?
I think one can say that Aronian had a little bit of luck when Radjabov made a bad decision under timer pressure which allowed Aronian to win the game quickly. Sometimes there can be elements of luck or chance even in chess, nobody can really deny that completely. On the long run skill will always be the really decisive factor in one's carreer as a chessplayer. The game itself was beautiful and well played by Aronian who would have also won without luck. That's my humble opinion...
I think anyone can reasonably deny luck being in the game of Chess at all. Seeing as there is no luck in Chess. By definition of the word. All of your decisions are your own. All of theirs are their own. All variables are known. There is no luck of the draw, no luck of the dice. If a player has a bad game, because they didn't see a move, made a blunder whatever you want to call it, it is their own fault. They made the choice. The choice wasn't randomly determined by the game for them against them or in their favor (aka the actual definition of the word luck).
Skill, radjabov was playing like an ametuar and it also seemed like he had no long term plan because he moved his pieces back and forth waiting for aronion
Today i wanted to become a little rebel. I saw 53 likes and 0 dislikes, o i disliked. Then i took it back and liked the video. Im a little rebel. Good videos btw :)
I think Aronian meant that he was lucky because when he was out of strategy his opponent made a blunder he didnt plan for. Its basically Trojan horse to win the war. Was it luck or skill? What if they burned the horse? So my answer is that it was it was both. Luck that the situation presented itself but skill as the punishment was succesful.
Instead of Nxpe5 why not Kh2 first liberating from a black knight check, opening up rook file and giving white knight more freedom? Does it make sense?
Luck does not exist in chess in my opinion. You are either good enough to play better than your opponent or you blunder and lose. Maybe im wrong, but in my opinion luck is not something that is present in chess.
I don't believe in luck in Chess. If a player blunders in time trouble, then their clock was likely mismanaged. If they did not mismanage their clock, IE they used just enough time to find a good move and ensure it's good, but are still in time trouble, then they are not as good of a player. Either they got into a situation where they had to calculate more, or their opponent is the superior player. So, skill all the way. Chess is a perfect information game, other than the first move advantage the players are on an equal footing, and a blunder due to time trouble could perhaps have been prevented if not in time trouble, but both players have the same amount of time on their clock to start.
oh boi, get rid of her asap. there has to be something seriously wrong with her since no human female could ever be bored by the majestic charisma of the one and only chucky! alien in disguise? hostile android from the future? doesn't really matter, but save yourself my friend
It's always a plus to see that beautiful bastard Gelfand. Sexiest man alive 2013 :P
I'm not an excellent checkmater, attacker or endgamer but I love enjoying the show 😍
Matteo Margiotta then you're an excellent audience😀
You could be a knight rescuer. Don't give up :v
I came -for more gelfund pictures- to enjoy the show.
omg xDxD you are an excellent commenter
We need more people to m̶e̶m̶e̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶g̶e̶l̶f̶u̶n̶d̶ ̶p̶i̶c̶s enjoy the show!
The Gelfand picture is definitely a plus, you should make it a thing and make it pop up in every video of this series.
Or, regardless of what guys are playing, post a pic of Kosteniuk :)
Oranges
13:12 Here "This will be checkmate".mp3 was played, but better was "You lose the queen and the game".mp3
Either way, the obvious followup is "Black is completely winning here".mp3
"Surely all of you can see it..."
Pauses video for 20 seconds... Still clueless.

The down to earth comments of agadmator’s are excellents. He covers every blunder that a patsy like me could make.
luck favours the strong i guess

#Suggestion use the Gelfand pic to replace Tal in the top right of the screen just for this candidates series lol
That gelfand pop was a definite plus 🐶👍🏻
It's also a match between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
So the fans are crazy like in a soccer game between Croatia and Serbia.
An azerbaijani chess grandmaster versus an armenian chess grandmaster. The history happens again?
Thanks for the reminder at the beginning and why the Knight on C6 shouldn't be taken! It's always a good thing to get back to basics sometimes.
i always enjoy a sarcasm by antonio .. especially he don't show much reactions while doing it

best way to start a Saturday morning! Great game/analysis, and I really like that quote at the top.

That moment when u didnt even open the video and you hear in your head "HELLO EVERYONE!"

Skill: 100% . . . Levon is just a humble guy. Always admired that about him.
Pretty nice and impressive game by both gentleman
Bravo majstore :) Samo nastavi tako!

1 photo misclick, and now gelfand is everyones favorite lol
It was not luck...But the timetrouble definitely played a rather major role with the result.
Also gelfand is a legend and always worth seeing.

I left my like just because the Gelfand´s photo comment at the beggining of the video...

That bishop to f8 reminds me of another game you showed.😁
Levon definitely one of my favorite styles today
The GM has his King on G3......😂😂😂
7 hours...mind officially blown
2:16 don’t do that😂
This genuinely made me laugh. That being said, great advice, and it's always nice to see the line that brings to disaster.
I love it! Agadmator, do you think this could #don'tdothat could be a periodic element of your excellent series?
Does it hurt when you do that? Yes. Don't do that. Here ends the lesson.
“Hello everyone, don’t do that” 😂
Such an excellent idea! Agadmator! Please DO THAT!
Nice game .. I don’t like how you show the winner on the video default photo..I kind want it random..
Thanks for the tip for us new to chess guys :)
Have you thought about livestreaming this? There's a lot of people with questions and suggestions about the games you review.
I think Aronian was skillfull at taking advantage of the mistakes in time management and on the board that Radjabov made. So skill was used to take advantage of the luck of having his opponent make the mistakes. :)

I want more agadmator chuckles
Good quote!!
6:03 is Ng4+ a threat if Ra1 is played? I think it might be.
80% skill 20% luck
Why do you never quote me? The board is a battlefield and the pieces my army. Chess is war!
no man, please no more sexy Gelfand photos, i'm still cleaning the puck from my laptop :/

Should replace Tal’s image with Boris Gelfand’s. #suggestion

Is Levon Aronian Edward Snowden in disguise?
Today i wanted to become a little rebel. I saw 53 likes and 0 dislikes, o i disliked. Then i took it back and liked the video. Im a little rebel. Good videos btw :)
I thought Radjabov played better chess but Aronian is even better
I think Aronian meant that he was lucky because when he was out of strategy his opponent made a blunder he didnt plan for.

Interesting game. FYI Aronian is pronounced A-ROW-NEE-EN

Needed a breather but it turned out to be the last breath
Luck implies an element of chance. Radjabov playing poorly is not luck. It's Radjabov playing poorly, period.
I would like to play with u sir for jus one game
9:22 why not capture with queen on e5
Top 10 Facts about Boris Gelfand pls

Fortune favors the bold I suppose
Gelfund everywhere 😂😂
1:02 what are those big screens for???
Whenever a player is low on time, a wild Gelfand picture appears on those screens to motivate them
Aronian "created" his luck out of his skills...
Oh man, i just came here to get some nice gelfand pictures to show to my girlfriend. She got bored from the ivanchuk pictures.
oh boi, get rid of her asap. there has to be something seriously wrong with her since no human female could ever be bored by the majestic charisma of the one and only chucky!

He is from Croatia and we know because he mentioned it in some videos.
They could have made a draw but...this happened.
Skill
I think it is skill not luck
Aronian saw a mistake and took advantage. clearly Radjov didnt see, so not luck,. timetrouble or not.
There is no luck in chess...
