The picture of the two at 1:12 just makes me laugh for some reason, two highly dignified chess players sitting like they'd rather be doing anything else when realistically their calculating 10 moves ahead per second is funny lol
They are not calculating 10 moves ahead per second, not even 5 or 4, I assure you. Even during many minutes, they often don't succeed in calculating 10 moves ahead. It's a myth.
Unlike many other times, this time I actually found the solution for the puzzle in a few seconds. But I'm most certainly not an excellent endgame player. Thank you for the compliment, nonetheless. I'm striving to improve.

I'm so stoked on your channel. You do such a good job. You could quit tomorrow and what you've done will be an excellent resource for a long time. Cheers to all you've done.
no. A dead position is when there are enough materials to mate but you can't for example. the white pawns are on a4, d4, and g4 respectively and the black pawns are on a5,d5, and g5 both kings are on the same side as their pawns. This makes it impossible to get to the other side to free up their pawns. So in this case it is not a Draw by insufficient material as there are enough material to win but it is a dead position. Here is an even more complicated " dead position" Black pieces: Pawns on e3, e7, g3, and g7 Bishop on f8 king in h8 White pieces: pawns on e2, e6, g2, and g6 bishop on f1 a random bishop (white square) anywhere on the board King on h1.
Thanks for the annotations and indeed that is also a dead position.. I mean, obviously you can call any of it anything you want, but official rules are exactly what I've stated. I was just poking fun at the fact that people have somehow picked up chess site customs as objective, e.g. there are evaluation definitions for blunder or mistake. www.fide.com/fide/handbook.html?id=171&view=article
The crazy thing about the 2013 candidates is that Ivanchuk had winning scores against both the 1st and 2nd best players in the tournament (both carlsen and kramnik finished with 8.5) but he finished in 2nd last. A very chucky performance!
Thanks for showing this game Antonio. It really changed my thoughts about the Grünfeld in a good way, i now know how to tackle it better with white. Thanks!
About croatian trains: 2002 I was in train between Zagreb and Rijeka( and back). The train goes through the moutains and ends at sea level. If you have time, it's really nice there :)
Coming late is also not an uncommon thing for trains in Austria ;-) I was already wondering yesterday evening, why is there no new video coming, and hoping that agadmator is ok, but now the relief: The train was late. The game shown here is really very instructive, especially in the endgame. I'm looking forward to more of that...;-)
Please make more Carlsen videos! Even if they are casual games. I love watching his playstyle combined with your commentary! I've watched every Carlsen video you've uploaded.
There was an artist competition depicting the final piece position on the board. I'm not sure who won the artists contest rendition of this game because that was very close too but I heard that it was drawn.
@jr birdman, completely agree my friend. We all know Magnus is a superb player but when Chukkie is in the mood chess becomes an unequalled dynamic beast. Such a shame that, in his prime, he got into SO much time trouble, probably stopped him being world champion.
Agadmator is so funny + artistic in his words. Evanchuk is thinking "well, carlsen is the highest rated man but i won the 1991 linears tournament ahead of garry Kasparov! " 😅
why at 10:18 Ivanchuk didnt want to do the threefold repitition to draw? because earlier he offer a draw because he is on time trouble right? is it different to draw by offering rather than draw by threefold repitition?
For those of you who haven't seen it, check out Ivanchuk's interview at Tradewise Gibraltar 2018. He plays through the whole game from memory, considering alternative moves as well as what was actually played. ruclips.net/video/pUgvAoTzWBA/видео.html For agadmator's analysis of this game, click here: ruclips.net/video/SJEg7ZznZy4/видео.html
I hope someone answers, on 11:31, Agad said Ivanchuck "Almost grabbed his king...he picked up his king", so, did he touch it or not? did Agad misspoke or why Magnus didn't called the Touch-move rule?
At 7:33 looks like white can win a pawn with Nf6#, forking the king and the pawn on h7 which is now double attacked. Seems like there is time to defend the f4 pawn later. What am I missing?
Ivanchuck is like Mikhail Tall, ones of the most creative, impressive players! But never quite had enough to rule chess live Magnus or Mickhail Botvinick. I really need to know if Chucky or Botty wrote a book. Please lmk(:
Check out the amusing snippet at the top of the video.... ‘who’re you playing tomorrow Vassily?’.... typical response from Vassily - I don’t know, my second will tell me. He does love a bit of psychological warfare, doesn’t he!
Just curious. Couldnt Carlson win on time if he would decide to continue? There is no mate here. There are some apps who don't accept this as a positional draw.
Nf3 can jump to g5 and attack the queen again. and i think its either a queen run and make the queen misplaced or even worse trap the queen. idk thats the way i saw it since im not really good at seeing couple move ahead lol
A draw, but at least, Ivanchucks king can ride back home and carlsens has to walk alone.
Haha good one!
Lol funny
XD
😊
Well said
Ivanchuk is a pure genius if he has time he is able to win everyone
Manos manjoy yes, but to be a genius you also have to be able to play by the rules, which means you can’t just disregard time
Rapid thinking is not part of genueity?
Is ANY great chess player a genius? I doubt it. Creativity plays an inferior role in chess.
@@jansnauwaert1785 ??? ofc
"Abscence makes the heart grow fonder." Great to have you back on my desktop, Agadmator.
"so this is the position Carlsen saw when he decided to sacrifice a pawn"
Me: *cough, cough* mmm, yes, naturally
I guess you can say your plans to make a video were derailed 😏
I liked your comment, even though it gave me motion sickness
Yes he became side-tracked
I'm from r/punpatrol hands where I can see them

ivanchuk is the boss
Agadmator: "uh,bishop to f8?,I don't think any human would play this..."
Bobby Fischer: (Plays bishop to f8)
I have a crush on Bobby
You are from Craotia, the next time I'm in Slovenia I would have to come over and offer a match.

I am glad he did not quit :D
This man make Carlson cry behind door ever time they met.
It is called: "Draw by insufficient material".
It's called a "dead position".
Actually it's called "this is a drawn position, uh neither side can win" - Agadmator 14:16
no. A dead position is when there are enough materials to mate but you can't for example.

This is how legends play TILL THE VERY END even when they knew it was a draw.
Thanks for showing this game Antonio. It really changed my thoughts about the Grünfeld in a good way, i now know how to tackle it better with white. Thanks!
U r welcome 😂
It's great when one is so serious about what they do that they apologize for missing on doing it once :) great content!
A nice one. Thanks agadmator !
This video is the reason Agad has to be "Sorry About" everytime
I was thinking why there is no video from agadmator then the notification from your channel came 😂😂😍😍
love your videos dude, watch them every night around 1am
thanks from Wellington, New Zealand
Chucky is just too cool for the room. Go Chucky!
dude you are really cool, you dont have to apologize. anyway keep making awesome videos daily. i really enjoying all of it.

Another great game shown. Finally, grand masters finish a game, instead of draw with half their paces left.
We miss good ol' Doggo!
Love it when you conclude some pictures from that tournament ! Keep up the great work !
Can you cover the game you played yesterday please?
Continue like that!!Best wishes from Greece!!
awesome. thanks for showing the photos, too.
I would love to see Ivanchuk as world champion...he deserves it. Such a brilliant player
If Ivanchuk became world chess champion, then he couldn't be the player to hold the world champion's feet to the fire.

"That's a nice empty space over there, I'll stare at it".
He made the right call, activity above all!
Ivanchuk seems to be your all times favourite. He is ours also.
I am just happy to predict the first couple of moves in the game
I like seeing drawn games, mainly because it was always difficult for me to understand why anyone would play for a draw.
Always play bishop f8. I would play it in an instant.
GM Finegold knows what he's talking about.
Thank you for posting
Don’t worry about yesterday man, your upload schedule is better than the majority of RUclipsrs anyways
I love his English!
The only one on earth, I can understand floating as my motherlanguage!!!
Why do you have the inverted, falling star, the symbol of satanism, as your background? It's really bad.
What a weird game ! Love it !
Hello agadmator, bro you somehow look like my physics teacher.😅 very dubious similarity 😅 😅 😅
When he is on, Ivanchuk is a badass M Fr. I think he has more creativity than anyone.

Any interesting games from your tournament that you might review?
Even with a queen a knight and all of those pawns surely must be able to create a fortress

DOMINIC FENIX yeah its strange i think agadmator misspoke
Keep going with the pictures 😍👍
Ivanchuk doesn't need to be world champion, he is chess God.
at 4:00 how about going for the black pawns with the queen?
Hey man, can I request 1906 Earl Tournament's Alekhine vs Ljubimov. Thanks and like everyone else here I enjoy watching your analysis.
Use #suggestion
Say on the 3rd move black pawn takes white pawn c4, how does white respond?
I like capturing black's d-pawn with my c-pawn for move four so as to advance my e-pawn to e4 on the next move. Tell me what could be wrong with that?
I recently started playing chess i have only basic idea of chess, i want to know which books should i read to improve the game.
How come I’m just interested in Carlsen games lately
no worries and congratulation
Can you upload some Judith Polgar games.
At 7:33 looks like white can win a pawn with Nf6#, forking the king and the pawn on h7 which is now double attacked. Seems like there is time to defend the f4 pawn later. What am I missing?
What makes the Grunfeld Defense different than the Queen's Gambit?
Ivanchuck is like Mikhail Tall, ones of the most creative, impressive players! But never quite had enough to rule chess live Magnus or Mickhail Botvinick. I really need to know if Chucky or Botty wrote a book. Please lmk(:

"The Bishop belongs to G7" - Agadmator 2018
agadmator, why didn't you say I was "an excellent player" today? I feel neglected :p
@10:55 taking on f5 first looks winning
"My train got delayed..." I heard a similar excuse before Agad. Hmm.. lol
Oh, congrats on the second place win.
Can you fo the exhibition match between Anand , Karpov & Kramnic ( 3 world Champians ) vs 3 russian talents ( I dont remember the names )
Inder Baldawa i think he did?
4:55 why queen to e6 wasn't played?
Nf3 can jump to g5 and attack the queen again. and i think its either a queen run and make the queen misplaced or even worse trap the queen. idk thats the way i saw it since im not really good at seeing couple move ahead lol
Of course you don’t want to capture the knight, because you can’t, as it’s defended by the pawn. 13:57
what's up with the doubled sound of the pieces? Seems like a weird move, agad.
At 10:41 Ivanchuk should have brought his knight to c6, it would get him a queen
Somebody with your chess experience should have foreseen that the croatian railway is always late
These 8 dislikes may be from agamadator close friends
such is the way of chess :)
