Follow MprooV on Twitter / mproovapp #agadmator The standings didn't change after Wednesday's fifth round of the FIDE World Chess Candidates’ Tournament in London as all games ended in draws. Facing his own favourite Grünfeld, Peter Svidler (Russia) got a winning position against Boris Gelfand (Israel) but after wild complications the game ended in a draw. Magnus Carlsen (Norway) also played the Grünfeld and for the first time he was under pressure, against Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine), but eventually he held a knight ending a pawn down. Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) got his chances in a Réti against Levon Aronian (Armenia), who held an opposite-coloured bishop ending two pawns down. The last game to finish was Alexander Grischuk (Russia) versus Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan). In a 5.Bf4 Queen's Gambit Declined White also got very close to a win but with a bishop sacrifice the Azerbaijani held his own.

0:47 I was not ready for that photo of Boris Gelfand!
John Grey. Totally! Even with all that advanced warning, it got me, too.
I don't understand y is it so special or is it sarcasm
Morpher, it's sarcasm. It's a little running joke on this channel.
I’ve subscribed to a lot of channels and watch them regularly, but yours is the only one I get excited and happy when I got a new notification. Thanks for the content!
5:50 "Easy" - Agadmator 2018
I laughed out loud on that one. Indeed, for such lowly player as I, that was not easy.
Abhishek you said this third and you have the most thumbs up
The other 2 wrote "EZ"... I prefer correct grammar...
Thanks again Antonio for your dedication. A real ambassador for chess! Keep it up and many thanks from Colorado, USA.
Thank you. Will do :)
05:53 "EZ" -Agadmator 2018
If you ever want to upload some videos of your dog just doing it's thing I would totally like to watch it. Your dog rules.
*Looks at picture of Gelfand intensely*
Shine on you crazy diamond
An excellent Knight rescuer lmao
Wow gelfand should put that photo on tinder. Swipe right
0:36 i was ready to see BORIS GIRLFRIEND "as i heard it" sadly it was a scary dude picture.
0:45 "very nice.. now that, that is a nice photo"
XD such troll agad haha
When that picture of gelfand came up I came instantly
I almost choked on my coffee when I saw the picture of Boris Gelfand. Clearly, it's the Gelfand defense against photography.
The engine gives a +5 advantage for Gelfand
Idk why but when you said "knight rescuer" i just burst out laughing 😂 😂.
Great game as always, love your content!
i saw a dog in the background
8:37 Could Black's rook not take on E8?
What I'm thinking is Be8+ Rxe8, Rxe8 Kxe8, then either Nc7+ or Re1+ for white.
yes absolutely correct.
That's my question too.
I think Agadmator missed that one.
Agree, but it didn't play out that way which shows Agad is still not quite up to GM level yet. Interesting idea nonetheless.
Thanks for posting this 11 seconds before my lunch break :)
8:16 I saw that bishop move but the king doesn't have to move. Rook can capture bishop and then black is winning. What am I missing?
Black will get mated
kapil hanwat care to explain?
Black isn't getting mated immediately but after Be8+ Rxe8 Rxe8 Kxe8, the black king is very exposed and whites attack is very strong. Just Qg8 or Rc1 would force black to basically throw all of his pieces away to prevent mate and white is definitely winning. Surprised Agad didn't go into some of these variations since usually this would be a good "find the move" situation.
Im glad your taste in games is way better than your taste in photos hahahahahahhahahahahahahaahhahahahahaahhahahahahhahaha, good sence of humor man
8:38 after white plays Be8 why doesn't black take the bishop with the rook? R×e8?
osama karkout --- yes absolutely correct.
That's my question too.
I think Agadmator missed that one.
Amazing chanel. Lots of video and I've learnt alot. I really want to get more into chess and this helped me alot
12:40 Now that is some design for the standings! Nice work, Agad! XD
The standing is ok, it's normal although it should be a period rather than a comma.
As an extra, you can always add the "Wins, Draws & Losses" behind it.
In English you would use a period. In Spanish, (for example, for I'm a native Spanish speaker) it's ok the way he put it there (and vice versa, we use periods to separate thousands). We just don't know in what language did he write those numbers.
0:47 very nice photo but what's that blue light?
We can find who played first.. Ivanchuk or Svidler based on clock timings and knowing the time they started the match. Pls correct if I am wrong.
I really enjoy watching these videos. I play chess somewhat casually - mostly with friends and family - but your channel is still very educational and entertaining for me. I love what you're doing here, keep it up man!
Your dog is so silly, he's always goofing off in the background
Jeremy Dawson or DeAusen? I have a friend named J. DeAusen..
8:51 why not took captures bishop rxe8
because he wants to finish his opponent in checkmate, doesnt metter if he doesnt take the bishop its useless to take him if you got winning position
Jubair Siddeeque --- yes I have the same question. Rook takes e8 is the best move I think.
8:32 Yay!! I didn't solve it!!!!!!!
The name of the DOG...?
0:45 very nice
I solved the puzzle after that rook to h8 move, hip hip hooray! Maybe there is still some hope for me? ;-)
Antonio's "very nice" at 0:45 just made my day
5:52 "EZ" - agadmator
your dog seems to have figured out that you were blocking him with chair for quite some time now xD
Can't you look in the livebook datebase to see when a move was first played at 2:18?
Do 2011 candidates too
Lol Svidler and Ivanchuk waiting for each other to play against the Gruenfeld
as a real fan of the Gurenfeld this was a real real treat my friend thank you !!!
@0.45 even anabelle would shit her pants
At 0:46 I think you letting your love of chess bias your opinion of what makes a "nice photo." That's ok. It is pretty endearing of you.
You dare insult Boris "Mr. Sex" Gelfand himself? Calling this a nice photo is an understatement but Agadmator is humble as we all know
Add player’s country too!
Who's the knight rescuer here?
Why so much videos from 2013 tour?
“Hello everyone” plays every time I get a text
I wasnt prepared....
HELLO EVERYONE !!!
D5 on the other board.. Hats off to your dedication
Really good commentary, maybe try a different backdrop👌
boris gelfand looks like caruana in that picture
Nice!
The handsome canine returns! @4:55
Love from India😇
wild Gelfand appeared
Night rescuer!!
🔥🔥
when are you gunna do a face reveal
Hi Agadmator! I really enjoy the way you analyze the moves. My father likes chess also, but he doesn’t speak english. Please, can you upload “spanish captions”. I’m sure he’ll enjoy your videos much as me. Thank you very much for your videos. Greetings for Honduras!
Clearly your dog could see what was coming, is that why they are so excited? lol
at 4:15 after white plays e4 this obviously sacrifices a pawn. the d pawn is hanging. the bishop can capture it. it should be mentioned why this is bad to capture on d4, not just skip over it.
it is not immediately obvious. sure the queen can go to the h file and threaten mate but there are ways to defend that.
maybe slow down in the videos and when some material is hanging, talk about why.
I think your dog needs flea meds and a flea bath
I really wasn't ready for that photo of Boris Gelfand...
How these guys calculate and envisage these positions is utterly beyond me!
amazing video, as always. anyway, why do put some names between stars?
At 5:52 instead of picking knight. when king captures the pawn at e6 bring rook to e1 and picup the queen.
nishant kumar agad missed that move
salish ps But its hard to believe that
thanks man i knew I was missing something silly
Tsvetan Vasilev---- no no no If knight covers e4 then White's knight on c3 takes e4 knight .
Now black can't recapture the knight at e4 with pawn as it threatens rook captures at e4 check.
If pawn recaptures is met with rook capture at e4 then black has to play bishop to e5 to block the check.
Now simply rook captures bishop at e5 now king has to move . Rook takes black queen at e8.
This has been completely missed by Antonio.
Nishant Kumar is Absolutely Correct.
nishant kumar -- you were not that silly after all.....
Black is up a full pawn
I am hearinf for the firts time
Do you like table tennis
if a certain move or defense is someone favourite shouldn´t that person know how to play against it since he saw what worked and what didn´t when he himself played it?
Your dog went insane again.
whats with the obsession with the photos ?
8:36 It's not that clear to me why Rxe8 is not a good valid answer for black (instead of Kf8).
I have analyzed the position and white is still wining but black doesn't make any easier for white. Worth checking in my opinion.
Lucas Battistella -- yes absolutely correct.
That's my question too.
I think Agadmator missed that one.
Hello Antonio i hope that you're good
I just want to ask you which is the best way to analyze your games ?
(Step by step please )
Nice work !
Hey Agad, when you play on Chess or Lichess do you ever message people EZ elo when you win?
8:37 why not just capture the E8 bishop with the rook? You pick up the piece and you're still threatening to trap the queen.
Charles Qualmann --- yes. I think Agadmator missed it...
"Gelfand" a Jewish name that comes from "Elephant".;-)
That Gelfand photo looks like you just accused him of stealing your potato chips (crisps), and he gave an emphatic "No".
@5:50 a 5 move combination including calculations and a lot of consideration, ihope i will say easy 1 day too
#suggestion The womens world championship is going great so far. Please cover some games from it. Love your videos
#Salute to Vassily, he's been betting against himself the whole tournament......😂😂😂
Hello
Wow, I saved the drowning hippo!
Lovely!!
We need a dog cam!
Prepare yourselves 😂
Medo was not able to contain his showmanship in this video, hahahahha
Great design at the end
#suggestion we want any game of Alexandra Botez! :)
That game was fucking crazy, that attack was so early
30-second variation showcase, after ~5 moves in the future.
"Easy." LOL
Love you sir
awesome
Why bot rook takes bishop on e8 ?
When bishop goes to e8, couldn t black counter with rook capturing bishop?
8:40 Why will king retreat to f8 ??? Better move is rook takes bishop at e8. This comes with a tempo on white rook at e1.
King to f8 is completely illogical.
I think agad did a wrong calculation.
knght rescuer :)
Wow, i am an excellent knight rescuer and checkmater in three!
at 4:00 isn't Ne4 better than g4?
Hiiii
