    Follow MprooV on Twitter / mproovapp #agadmator Magnus Carlsen is the sole leader after nine rounds at the FIDE World Chess Candidates’ Tournament. On Monday the Norwegian drew with Vladimir Kramnik (Russia) while co-leader Levon Aronian (Armenia) lost to Boris Gelfand (Israel). Peter Svidler and Alexander Grischuk (both Russia) drew an amazingly complicated game and after 6.5 hours of play Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine) scored his first win, against Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan).
    With the second half of the FIDE World Chess Candidates’ Tournament well under way, the interest in the tournament is growing, both online and at the IET in London. Every day both the number of spectators in the playing hall and journalists in the press room is growing, and many local grandmasters can be seen at the venue. Gawain Jones, Daniel King and Luke McShane have been frequent visitors and on Monday GMs John Nunn, Matthew Sadler, Jon Speelman and Simon Williams came along. They all witnessed another great round in which the big game was world number 2 Vladimir Kramnik against world number 1 Magnus Carlsen.

      Up until that point, the players are probably in their preparation but then they'll calculate different lines

    • @briant2140
      @briant2140 3 года назад

      And now so and so "started thinking" does not necessarily mean that preparation has been exhausted. Nor is there any precise chess terminology as to where and when this takes place. "Started thinking" is a euphemism for deep thought. It is rare but sometimes professional chess players start thinking on the first move. More often it occurs in similar middle game or nuanced endgame structures, that they have studied, which arise from the opening.

    Why would you skip the obvious hanging bishop on D5? Had White taken the Bishop....The Black Queen to D1 check and then snag the pawn on D2 with Check allowing the capture of the White Bishop by the Black Rook. Then most likely trading rooks too...with material being even. I can see why the Bishop was not taken but I do not understand why the issue was ignored.

    @agadmator At 12:50, I wonder what would have happened if white had played Qc7 and grabbing the black pawn, this way protecting the knight. The pawn on a2 was protected by knight already.this way white could move the knight later to let the black bishop grab the pawn on a2 and then go for the check and grab the bishop move. :-)

      I think you'd get Qe1 check, Kg2, Q takes e2 with check and then you can grab white's bishop with the rook

    • @kuribro443
      @kuribro443 6 лет назад +1

      It would go Qe1+, kg2, Qxe2+ so either the king moves or the queen blocks but either way black can pick up white bishop.

    • @tommydoez
      @tommydoez 6 лет назад +1

      Snag the pawn then Qb3 and then white has to move the queen and loses the bishop instead.

    • @nabisco0523
      @nabisco0523 6 лет назад

      hm well what about trading queens, then rook b1 attacking black's bishop, either way the bishops get traded or saved and white has 2 extra pawns

    • @tommydoez
      @tommydoez 6 лет назад +1

      It's a different colour bishops end game. It very likely that Carlsen would gain a draw. In addition to that Rb1 Bc2, Bd4 Bxe2, Kg2 and black only has a 1 pawn disadvantage with a light square bishop to white's 1 pawn advantage and dark square bishop. still not a good situation for white as a draw can be snagged. If white however does the route agadmator says, then if black snags whites bishop then Rd8 is coming and black either loses both queen and rook while white holds a queen advantage or black is checkmated. a better solution than having a possible draw. so your analysis had blundered.

  • @jeffersonthomas1269
    @jeffersonthomas1269 4 года назад +1

    Kramnik's g4 pawn push killed his chances for a win. Premature in that he needed his king to escort his pawns and if he allowed Carlson's lock down to the stand he would never win...thus if I had been playing I think my goal would have been to react at 10:25 with white rookto d2 ...I know checks are coming but the dark squares are available for king walk ..my king would have strolled with my rook protecting my backward pawn....that is the only chance Kramnik had to win. I am not sure why a chess champ would not have immediately understood this.

    Is there a reason for you sometimes saying 'attack' and sometimes 'tempo'?

    • @gabesaylor4092
      @gabesaylor4092 6 лет назад +8

      XalYWero A tempo is when you force a piece to move away while also improving your position or capturing a piece. An attack is when you straight up go for a piece. Basically a tempo is something you'd do anyway and it's sorta like getting an extra move

    • @ericsbuds
      @ericsbuds 6 лет назад +2

      yeah your tempo is like a measure of how many moves you've made and how good your position is. good tempo is using each move to develop and or attack. it would be bad to lose tempo by developing a piece and when the opponent attacks it next move, you were to move it back, making your last move somewhat less useful. likewise, If you can attack/defend AND develop a piece at the same time, you will have better tempo.

    8.21 and white WINS THE GAME
    8.24 O yeah, I kinda miss....

    Agad when white Queen checks and wins the black bishop, white also lose his bishop to black rook..
    But a better option will be white bishop immediately capturing g7 pawn..wrecking white pawn structure for endgame and winning a pawn..plz see to this line..thanks

    if the pawn was captured and if the bishop was captured by black.
    black would have been checkmated within 2 or 3 moves

    I don't think he was really staring at Karmnik in the picture, rather putting his eyes off the board to think, staring at nothing really, he often does that, focus out of the game to then get back to it, it's a way for him to come up with fresh strategies, if i remember well, there was of video of him advising players to do that.

      My guess would be ... Qe1+, Kg2 Qxe2+, King moves (or block with Qf2) then black Rxe5. So black would get a pawn in the exchange.

      No, it is. And Reynolds is always funny. I just didn't like the movie altogether. Watched it right after Infinity War, that might also be the reason.

      Yes, Infinity's war ending must've kept your mind busy enough to not properly enjoy a fouled mouthed hustler like Deadpool, lol. Thanks for replying man, appreciate it.

    During your analysis, after rook grabs bishop you can check with rd8, very dangerous because king only has the diagonal to run to

    Instead of Qxb on A2, bxp on g7 results in another extra pawn for white.

    At 8:17 bishop d6 attacking queen before recapturing on a2. The version you propose with a 4 against 3 on the kingside would be just an immediate draw so I doubt that is the real idea

    If magnus takes pawn at the end i think white rook can pin the bishop. If there is a trade of rooks, the white pass pawn is queened.

    7:56 why not rook captures on d5? Instead of queen captures on c7

    • @user-mq3yz1ij2o
      @user-mq3yz1ij2o 3 года назад

      If rook captured on d5 black would've played queen E1 check , only move for white is king G2 after which black would've played queen captures e2 and no matter what white did black will capture e5 bishop with his rook . So white looses a pawn and thats why kramnick didn't go for it

    • @atsumindesu
      @atsumindesu 4 года назад

      Because if Rxd5 - Qe1+, Kg2 - Qxe2+. Now whatever white does (Qf2 for an exchange or Kg1 to move from the check), then Rxe5 and now the number of pawns are equal.
