As an Iranian I absolutely loved Sumeru's Persian inspirations. The refrences in lore and characters and map designs were so beautifully done and Sumeru's forest truly feels like home to me.
I loved the representation and writing & design for Kaveh so much that he's been my main for a year now.
Your video is SO AMAZING and so informative. It even taught me many new things.
Sadly the Iranian inspirations can go unrecognized by some players but It's so amazing to see essays like this.

    some character notes!
-nilou also features two of irans colors persian blue and persian red!
-nilou wears gold, pearl,(and possibly)chalcedony and jasper! all of which worn by persians.
-ram horns represent masculinity and fertility
-and her dance is a mix of raghs-e-pa,involving footwork, and solo dances which involve arm movements.
-the anahitian blessing is mentioned ingame which is a refrence to anahita, rhe zoroastrian goddess of wisdom water and fertility
-the anahitan blessing vould be from nahidah as in her voicelines she mentioned blessing us and her name propbably comes from the modern version of anahita, nahid.
-for kaveh his hairclips are reminiscent of the derafsh kaviani a symbol of iranian resistance.
-his clothes resemble womens persian clothing with the salwar(pants)openchested top and giweh shoes!
-he also has persian colors, persian red, blue and green.
-faruzan has motifs based of minakari a way of decorating plates
-her dress is remisncient of dresses worn by girls during the qajar era
-her name also relates to firuzeh the persian word for turquoise(explaining her color pallette.)
this isnt everything but its some major things in these characters! ゚+.゚(´▽`人)゚+.゚

Hold up, I think you misread some info. Kathak wasn’t really “brought” by Mughals in India, although they did huge contributions to it. Kathak is actually way ancient, it has its origin from natyashastra, arguably the oldest dance disciple of the world, it gets its name from the kathakars community known for courtesan dances. Persian influences came later when Mughal kings integrated the dance in the tawaif courtesanship culture.
Also, the word “darshan” doesn’t only mean sight, it also means philosophy, or a school of thought. If you actually read about the six darshans of Hinduism, they have great parallels to the six darshans of sumeru akademiya, just like the seven Persian deities. And if you observe the logos of all the darshans, they actually represent animals from the indian subcontinent.

27:09 one more fact the Word Shatranj is Persian/Arabic derived from Sanskrit chaturaṅga
Really great video to learn about Persian culture included
Also thanks to genshin i didn't had knowledge of Persian culture(also Arabic/Egyptian )but after sumeru i was able to learn many new things
I found it that Persian and Sanskrit words have so much similarity I guess because of both have a common Indo-Iranian orgin
But these two also opposite meaning for words like Persian (Daeva) represent bad but in Sanskrit (Dev/Deva) represent good
Again For Persian (Ahura) represent good but in Sanskrit (Asura) represent bad
And the concept of Asha in Zoroastrianism is similar to the concept of Dharma in Hinduism
38:26 100% agree it's so beautiful mixture of culture also my favourite nation
    Especially music diversity

I find Nahida, the Archon of Sumeru, to be extremely well balanced between the cultures in her country and using the common/shared mythos of two or more at a time in forming her design and personality.
Nahida is based off of Anahita, Sarasvati, Khonsu, and has powerful buddhist ties to Avalokitesvara and Tara, and perhaps even Guanyin and Kannon, aside from the hindu inspirations you've already mentioned in your other videos.
All of these motifs combine in Nahida and connect her persian, arabic, hindu and buddhist subjects. It also reinforces the idea that Nahida is an emanation of the tree of the world which touches every country and culture.
(Nahida herself goes on to have further greek, germanic and norse roots as well, taking her cultural inspo literally from westernmost europe (scandinavia) to easternmost asia (japan))
This video is excellent and taught me so much new history and culture. Thank you so much. It's exciting to look for irl references to real myths and history in genshin 😊😊❤

So after watching the video, I have some feedback.
The overall quality of the video and the research and effort you put into everything really shows! You're also a great speaker, it was easy to follow along with what you were saying and you really kept me engaged throughout the video. I'm going to be using this series quite a bit when I'm making my own theories or writing fanfic about Genshin.
The only real criticism I have is with the audio. Long explanation ahead.
I have sensory processing issues, so certain sounds can really bother me. It's a symptom of ASD. I bring this up because my sensory issues were triggered by your harsh "s" sounds and something that sounded like you were tapping the microphone every now and then. Both are very faint and barely noticeable to most but because of my disorder I can't really ignore the sound. If you didn't know, sensory processing issues make it difficult to tune out sounds that other people can ignore without much effort. Because of how my brain works, I have to consciously block out unwanted sensory input, and if I don't, I end up feeling overwhelmed. Both options take a lot out of me. It's the same for other neurodivergent people. So because of this condition, and because your audio is the way it is, it takes a lot of energy for people like me to watch or listen to your videos.
Honestly, it's not your fault. I'm assuming you didn't know, so I figured I'd tell you. It's pretty common to not realize how triggering certain sounds can be for certain people. I end up having to click off of a lot of videos because I don't have the spoons to tune out the noise. But anyways, I think using specific settings with your audio editing software can soften those sounds, although I'm not familiar with the specific steps you need to take to do this. If you fix the audio, your viewers will have a much easier time listening to your videos.
Otherwise, I have no complaints. This video is great and is definitely going to be one I watch again sometime.

37:04 not trying to be rude or anything but the instrument that plays there is not santur but sitar *i think?* And if i were to be not mistaken, "Yazadaha" pool is a combination of Sanskrit words "Yasa" (fame) and "daha" (pool) according to fandom wiki and Chinese translation of the subregion, aside from these i don't have any doubts regarding this well done informative video :D

    • @Vzzerdrix
      @Vzzerdrix 8 месяцев назад +1

I do agree with the Sitar argument. There is such a specific dissonance and vibration that the Sitar makes and I still recognize it whether Hoyo-Mix alters the sound to make it more muffled like in portions of God-DevouringMania.mp3 or very electronic and violent-sounding like in BeforeTheLightFades.mp3
However, an example I can give where the Santur is prominent is in SwirlsOfShamsir.mp3 from 0:48-1:00 doing that iconic leitmotif that Hoyo-Mix does for Genshin’s battle themes. You can hear the sequence of notes being done with the Santur at the front and some strings to serve as a support to the high-frequency sounds of the Santur.

    • @sankarsankar1865
      @sankarsankar1865 7 месяцев назад +2

@@Vzzerdrix yeah yeah, though the example you gave does indeed have apparant santur usage clearly playing photon of fluctuation leitmotif, it's still hard for non-experienced ears to hear it clearly, maybe "white wood memorabilia" ost is best "example" for universal understanding as main instruments in that are only bansuri and santur,
Trivia/speculation (didn't have to read if don't wanted to-): beautifully enough that ost in game only plays during dunyarzard's scene on that bench. That ost Perfectly shows her devotion and relationship with dendro archon if we're to go by logic santur represents her(as her name in from Persian tales)while bansuri represents nahida and forest(which is already evident).

Actually we did get representation, not as much as arabs and persians ofc but still quite a ok amount, obviously apart from food, Dori and npc names, for exemple names in the desert map like Temir mountains and Tunigi Hollow, Temir and Tunigi are of turkic origin. Characters in the lore of the game like Turan Khagan, Muzaffar Dey and Humayun Gürkan, "Turan" being a word used by iranian to describe the turkic people to the east of İran (central asians) and also a Shahnameh figure where his name still has the same meaning, Khagan being turkic/mongolic and is used by other lore locked characters, Saleh (a city state) is a Khaganate too, Muzaffar is ofc arabic but the Dey in his name come from the times of the Ottoman empire and is ofc turkish, it's kinda like Turks having arabic names which is pretty common, Gürkan being obviously of turkic origin as a name and Humayun being persian, idk if there more but that's the turkish inspirations i could find apart from the more obvious ones

I would like to thank the author for his work and make a small correction. The fact is that there is no "Moscow architecture" in the game. Or I somehow misunderstood the author's wording. Moscow was built more than 875 years ago, but its original architecture has nothing to do with "Lazzo on a Winter Night". When the Russian Tsar Peter I came to power, he set a new trend in the development of Russia by building the "Northern Capital" - St. Petersburg, more than 300 years ago. St. Petersburg was an example of European culture, in particular the famous European architects of that time. Peter I was a great admirer of France and Italian art. Therefore, St. Petersburg looks like a European city. In "Lazzo" we see a snow palace (cathedral), which is very similar to the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg, but in its architectural style, there is not Christian, but Catholic symbolism. In the 18th century, in Russia, at balls they communicated mainly in French. Therefore, it is possible to expect that in Snezhnaya, there will be an atmosphere of Fontaine, and to call the architecture of Snezhnaya "Moscow architecture" is not quite correct. The Moscow style of architecture is different.
