Ok to clarify: Before Sun and Moon is only in "Non applicable" because it's volume 2 of The Byakuyakoku Collection. I didn't want to be redundant and put the same book twice in one category.
I DID, however, mess up and put The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku in "Pretty good" because I'm a dummy. It's volume 1 of The Byakuyakoku Collection, so it should also be in "Non applicable". Sorry about the confusion, my brain is a puddle and I still haven't recovered from this video lol

Fun facts about _The Boar Princess_ :
It was written by a now passed away human called Andersdotter.
(Her name is likely a reference to Hans Christian Andersen, a famous author of fairy tales like _The Little Mermaid_ and _The Ugly Duckling_ .
Anderson translates to 'son of Anders' and Andersdotter translates to 'daughter of Anders'.)
We know Andersdotter was a part of and one of the heads of the Hexenzirkel organisation. The Hexenzirkel is essentially a group of witches who study ley lines, history, the stars and Irminsul.
    (Hexenzirkel translates to Witches' coven.)
Andersdotter was known in the Hexenzirkel for her exceptional storytelling ability.
As we are familiar with the powers of Irminsul, a popular analysis of the role Andersdotter had in the Hexenzirkel, is recording historical events in an allegorical manner. By turning history into fairytales, it can prevent the deletion of information from Irminsul.
In Noelle's hangout, she mentions that in alchemy, 'roses' are symbolic for secrets hidden within a text.
In Genshin, there's three books that have a rose on their cover. Coincidentally, all three are fairy tales of a similar style, and coincidentally, _The Boar Princess_ is one of them.
The other two are: _The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies_ and _Hex & Hound_ .
It is very likely that these two books are also written by Andersdotter.
And perhaps all three contain a secret within their text.
Also interesting, in Lisa's story quest, there's an abyss mage who stole a book from the library. Initially we think nothing of this, and the game plays it off as a funny joke.
But the book the mage stole was one of those written by Anderson. So maybe that book was more important than we thought.

@@sketchesbyaidan yeah so basically, after scaramouce's story quest, we found out that the way to prevent irminsul deletion is either 1. give the info to a descender class organism, or give it an allegorical fairytale. that makes the said stories that is invcolved with andersdotir, and many other books potentially be thrown to the lore category, because at that poiont, those arent easter eggs, but a lock. we just need the key to unlock it which are what or who are those allegories are for, but thats only possible to either talking with another decsender, or fragm3enst all over teyvat and piece it one by one

1:27 to say theres tons of overlap is a severe understatement it's actually so horrendous for lore nerds 😭 the existence of Irminsul makes "fictional" stories potential allegories of real events which causes a ton of headache like literally any fantasy story couldve been something that really happened...

I get that this list was just about which books you liked, but...
The Pale princess and the 6 pigmies was stolen by an abyss mage in the beginning of the game and when we wanted it back they said it hid secrets.... That was supposed to be a clue...
Then, we know, that any book with a rose on the cover is a record of history hidden in a fairytale by one of the Hex. witches (So e.g. boar princess).
At the end of the Sumeru archon quest, we learn, why it is necessary to write histoy so.
The Legend of The Shattered Halberd tells the story of Teyvat (plus gnoises and possibly foreshadows the future events).
The folio of foliage clearly records the Dendro Archon's story (and it changes after greater lord R gets deleted from Irminsul)
Time Tracker explains us, how it can be, that e.g. the events of Fontaine were the history of future and so couldn't be avoided.
    ....
I could go on, but basically, many books looking fiction are sooo not!!!

I really like the effort they put into writing all these different books and make them actually feel like different types of readings.
The issue about Byakuyakoku is that it is a traslation of ancient slates and it's written just like one: it's almost unreadable if you don't know what it's talking about (also, to double up on the immersion, they made them call entities we already know with different names. Thanks Hoyo).
It's also interesting how the culture of different nations is reflected on their books: Mondstadt holds lots of fairy tales and transcriptions of ballads, while Sumeru holds accademic translations of old texts with occasional translator's notes, and so on...

I wonder how Yae liked that, to the point she wanted it out in the world herself…

Thank you for doing this video idea lol! I've been thinking abt doing it myself, to read all the books in genshin! I quite like genshin(I'm a loser who plays two accounts for almost four years actively sadly), the story may not completely new and have every best writing, but I like to believe genshin's beauty is *how* they use their cliche elements to create their story.
Sumeru to me is their peak! I love every bit of it, and I havent even finished my desert exploration, but the desert is my favorite.
Inazuma's archon quest, I will shit on anyday of the week for hours, with their archon. But the Inazuma lore from world quests and etc is fascinating how they completely butchered the archon quest when the world quests were so much more interesting.
I'd even say the Aranara questline is way more interesting than the Inazuma Archon quest.
Anyways, if you feel like driving yourself more mad, there is detailed story exermpts on Weapon items and Artifact gear items.
Memory of Dust from Guizhong and the Archaic Petra artifact gear lore, and Jade Cutter..
    T_T Goddess of Dust Guizhong..
Or maybe you've already done this and Im too committed to typing this comment.
Thank you for the lovely video, I loved the drawings! I do wish you included some text maybe? Or captions on some things you said? Idk if that makes sense. But I greatly appreciate the time stamps and format you've put up! Very well done! I greatly enjoyed this thoroughly and I'll probably end up doing the same :) Quite encouraging

There is this question of the Primordial. The ancient people wanted to know what the Primordial is but the explanation was hidden in a question or riddle, and it was kept in the ancient tablets. An ancient serpent called Orobashi forbade the people in knowing this riddle, since it would destroy their minds.

As someone who has been interested in reading the in-game books but thinks there's just too many, thank you. 😂 This was a fun video!! However, I forgot that this was only 15 minutes and was expecting you to talk about the other tiers (the less-readable ones). I mean, what was the point in reading all 90+ books if you're not going to talk about 90% of them? I want to hear what made the others so bad/not readable. And aren't the books in "great" and "pretty good" also worth mentioning? I'd definitely watch a part two.
Edit: I'd like to add that if it's too much to talk about every single book/talking about every single one is not worth it, at least show the completed ranking in the video. Again, good job with this one!

This reminds me of an NPC known as the Skyrider. He tried to fly with the Skyrider Sword, but that went as well as you would expect, and he somehow survived.
But then he did it again with the Skyrider Greatsword, and this time he succumbed to his own stupidity.
To add insult to injury, you can find the very sword he used on his second attempt stuck in a rock, where he most likely perished.
It's so laughable and sad at the same time.

I mean I am on the same boat for having read all the books...
That being said, I'm glad my favorite (Heart's Desire) is on here. The anthology is somehow reminiscent of CLAMP's xXxHolic, and I love the idea of an easy ritual to take you to a place full of secrets and hidden memories.
Although you categorized it as Fiction, for lore enthusiasts, I would highly recommend reading The Pale Princess and the Six Pygmies (clearly a play on Snow White and the 7 Dwarves) since this as yet incomplete series is supposed to hold the "secret" of this world, according to Lisa's story quest.

Most based, truth pilled, correct thing I've ever heard.
