As an oldhead cosplayer, I usually just walk around and start chatting with cosplayers from stuff I like or from the same series I'm cosplaying. It's been 10+ years now, and I almost always cosplay alone. And small cons are perfect for newbies. Oh, and loving Venti is totally valid.
I wish I had your confidence! Maybe that's why I enjoyed Ganbatte con more than Calgary Expo? It was smaller and therefore less intimidating for a newbie!
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to fanboy/girl with them! I love complimenting someone’s cosplay just for them to get equally excited about mine! It’s such a fun moment
Came for the Ace Attorney thumbnail, stayed for the unadulterated joy of early convention experiences I’ve been attending cons for about a decade (??!!????!!!) now & it’s so heartwarming to be reminded of the absolute wonder and awe I felt when I first started going. You captured it so perfectly, with great humor & storytelling to boot 😊😊😊
Cosplaying alone is so relatable! I have bad social anxiety too and agree with you that cosplaying weirdly gives me a huge confidence boost as I feel like I’m the character I’m cosplaying as. I just found your channel and your videos are really fun! Keep up the good work 😆👍
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to call them the IRL version of the cosplayed character! I say this with experience, I cosplayed Gallagher from Star Rail last Saturday and even tho it was a casual cosplay I got called the IRL Gallagher multiple times and it made me absolutely melt❤
AAAAHH!! A FELLOW ACE ATTORNEY FAN!!!! When I saw Apollo Justice I had to check it out! And I am not disappointed I really relate to this video. I went to my first anime convention over the summer (and also went broke). I wanted to cosplay but I’m pretty nervous about it. Also! Have you played Miles Edgeworth Investigations? When it was announced I freaked out and preordered it, I’ve been playing it whenever I can and I fan girl whenever I hear his voice lines!!
YUSS Ace Attorney fans unite!! I relate so much to going broke at anime conventions I haven't played Miles Edgeworth Investigations yet, would you recommend??
Most people say the 1st investigations is a little lack luster and the 2nd one is better. So far I’m only on the 2nd case of the first game but so far I really love it. You get your classic edgeworth moments literally dissing people with the upmost formality and new wacky characters. (But some are from made up countries you might recognize since you played AAAJ). In my opinion you should definitely play it (Theres a demo if you wanna try it!). From the sprites animations to the lovable characters you recognize ( petition to give gumshoe a raise) it’s a great Ace Attorney game that deserves the recognition!
I really thought that I'll scroll down and see 100k /500k subcribers and like 17k/100k views. But this was to my surprise just another underrated animator with cool editing.
Been cosplaying for 10+ years and the best way to meet friends is to hit up the meetups for the show you are cosplaying from. Everyone there knows where to start and you all have a good base subject to start talking about.
So, one time, I went to a con, but all my usual con friends were busy that day having "lives", so I went alone, and it ended up being on of the best con experiences I've ever had. My Old Sophie from Howl's moving Castle cosplay kinda crashed and burned at the last possible second (my dress tore, my shoes got got by my dog, my bird cane's head/handle fell broke off, it was a disaster), so I panicked, looked through my closet, and grabbed the first thing I saw that looked like a character, a black and white striped cardigan. Realizing what I just set up for myself, I found some striped pants, a tie, teased my hair out, spray dyed it green, and went to work with my make-up kit, and before long I was the Ghost with the Most, Beetlejuice! For a literal last minute cosplay, it looked pretty good, and I got compliments all day. I was so psyched when someone near the end of the day saw me walking past and shouted, "BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE!" I did a complete 180 and booked it towards them, we all had a laugh and took some pictures. I even got to do some "in character" pics with one girl dressed as Lydia! It was a great day!
The easiest way to get me to click on a videos to put Apollo Justice on the thumbnail. I've only ever been to one small cosplay convention (and unfortunately my cosplay was of a character played by a recently revealed not great person rip 💀) but it was fun! this just solidified my will to go to cosplay at a convention! either as hiyori iki from noragami, of phos from land of the lustrous :) i’ve never been to one but this looked like so much fun i think i have to go now
you were one of my fav cosplays at ganbatte >:D really cool knowing you learned a whole new 3d printing software to make elements for it??? thats dedication there. one time i learned how to knit for a cosplay and i almost gave up cuz that shit was HARD 😭 also you should have more confidence in your content cuz its really entertaining!!! wear your youtube channel proudly like a badge of honour, soldier 🫡 i feel like you need to hear this because you did instruct me in no uncertain terms to unsubscribe if i hated your videos LMAO
Thank you so much!! I loved your table at the artist's alley, you're super talented! Yeah It took a few days to pick up but I can't imagine knitting, that sounds way harder 😂 Lmao I did in fact say that. I'm definitely not used to advertising my YT channel in real life! But thank you, that really means a lot 😊 I will try to wear my channel with honour
I felt literally so seen by this. I’ve always been so interested in anime and going to a convention but I’ve never gone because I am a bit too nervous and I don’t know who I would ask to go with me. If I went I would also want to cosplay but idk who I would cosplay because I feel like I need to kinda resemble the character do do it (I know you don’t have to but it’s a thing of mine). I’m also an aspiring voice actor and I would love to go to voice actor panels. URG but anyway thanks for listening to my rant and THANK YOU for this lovely video!!!!!!
I totally get what you mean! I first wanted to cosplay Apollo because we look so similar. The voice acting panels were really cool, if you can get to a convention I would highly recommend it!!
I'm a socially awkward introvert and I think making friends is hard and maintaining friends is even harder haha. I used to go to conventions alone all the time and I'm proud of you for not letting yourself be held back! Letting a cosplay empower you is so great and honestly if you see someone you like, whether its just their cosplay or you think they're cute, just try strike up conversation. Don't be creepy and just start by saying you like their cosplay and start talking about things relating to the con. I always find such great happiness if people start talking to me about my cosplay. That being said the easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to be genuinely excited about their costume and character, show interest and be nice. Cosplayers get so happy when they are acknowledged and seen. I cosplayed a lot of Yugioh this year, which meant most of the teens didn't even recognize me. But those few people who did and did decide to comment on my cosplays made my day tenfold.
Smaller cons are nice (as long as they are well organized), not as much to see sometimes, but it makes it less overwhelming. It's often easier to chat with vendors or with artists in artist alley because the crowds aren't so intense as they are at the super big cons. I've gotten to chat with pro comic artists in artist alley a few times, and it was really cool.
That 'weird fighting game' is called M.U.G.E.N. I don't know what the acronym actually means, but basically people can program anything and everything into it as a fighter. Ronald McDonald vs Japanese Colonel Sanders? Yep. Brian Griffon vs Kyubey? Yep. It's a wacky ass game. >closeted feelings towards Venti There's always that one trap you have a thing for, every straight guy does. There's a reason why Astolfo from the Fate series is popular! The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to sting them! You have to *bee* yourself to win the heart of another! #goldcardcomment
That's good to know! It was hilarious, I might have to try M.U.G.E.N. on my own. Oh no, am I gonna have a thing for Venti now? Feels like he'd be a nightmare to go out with...
White Card Answer: You be their handler for a convention. (Help them travel to and from the con, Protect their costume, fix the costume if it starts to break, and be their eyes/ears. Also remind them to eat, drink, use the bathroom, and take a break.) They'll have too much fun to remember the human basics.
I just got this recommended after I did a 2-days convention, (came alone in cosplay Saturday morning, left with a new mutual -and friend- on Sunday evening) and I must say, I love your vibe! Immediate subscribe ✨ Also, your Apollo looks so good 😮 Definitely going to watch more of your videos during the week!
Easest way to win rhe heart of a cosplayer is correctly identify their costume. I love watching a person's face light up when you not only get it right, complement it and ask for a photo. The best one I had at this years Calgary Expo was a Laois. We was extatic and was lit up with as much joy as the character with new monster food
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to infodump about whoever they're cosplaying and match their neurodivergence 😂 #goldencardcomment (Just to clarify: Not all cosplayers are neurodivergent, but it is somewhat typical; Said by someone who is neurodivergent herself ❤)
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to explain how 3D printing works. Seriously my printer’s been sitting in my garage for a year and video tutorials aren’t helpful I’ve had that exact file for Apollo’s bracelet waiting to go how do you make the printing bed level- But seriously, with 10+ years of cons and cosplaying, I’ve found the best way to meet people is to go to specific fandom meetups! I’ve met a lot of lifelong friends that way, and it’s just always good to vibe with people who have common interests. I wouldn’t worry too hard about cosplaying alone either; it’s definitely a good idea when you’re young/just starting to go to cons to at least have one buddy with you for safety reasons, but once you get the hang of the con scene it really becomes second nature (I definitely prefer doing cons by myself these days aha). Your cosplays were great, definitely take pride in them and your channel! ❤️ (Also! If I can give a suggestion for styling a wig for Apollo specifically, what I did for my wig was actually form his horns separate out of wire, felt, and wig wefts. I cut four felt pieces, two for each horn, out to the size I wanted them, formed a wire armature to be sandwiched and glued inside the felt pieces, then slowly covered the felt with wig wefts using Fabri-Tac. Slowly is the keyword for this because Fabri-Tac does show when dry, it’s easy to mess up and I definitely did lol. But after that I just cut a hole near the front of my wig, slid the wire inside, glued it to the top of the wig cap and covered it with felt, and the horns were in! I have no idea if that’ll be helpful to you at all, but cosplay is all about sharing the wealth! ^^)
@@sketchesbyaidan no problem! I wish I could’ve shown you pictures to make it make a bit more sense, but it’s all about trial and error. 🎉 it if makes a difference to you, the wig I used was an Atlas Lacefront in Light Brown from EpicCosplays (lacefronts are admittedly a little pricey comparatively)
I also went alone to convention in cosplays two times this year and it really really boosted my confidence. First one was not that good in terms of social interactions but I was on every panel I wanted, but on second one I actually started talking to people. It feels like I unlocked new skill tree
Bro, I live in the middle of nowhere, too, so I understand what it's like to have the people around you constantly talking about trucks and cows. I just wanna talk about Apollo or Jibanyan sometimes, but no one has any clue what any of that is. I've only been to one anime con in my life, but I couldn't really experience it. The closest thing I could wear as cosplay was my Yo-Kai Watch. Not to mention, the Apollo Justice Trilogy hadn't released yet so I couldn't find a single piece of merchandise for him. I was so sad I couldn't get one of things I went there for. It was hard getting any Apollo merch before the Trilogy released, so I wasn't too disappointed. I did get to meet the legendary Johnny Yong Bosch, voice of Nate and pretty much every cool character ever. I'll cherish that memory forever 😌
This video was so fun to watch 😁 I’m gonna attend my first convention towards the end of October and I’m super excited! I’ll be cosplaying as Kagamine Rin with my friend (they’re gonna be Kagamine Len)
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is simple compliments and befriending them. I remember someone telling me my cosplay was cool and that made my day! You can also start conversations about the character that the cosplay is from and sneak in a ‘can I get your number’ :) hope this helps!
Now if that ain't a mood (not the cosplay, I still have yet to attempt one, the alone part) Living in a city that has little to no entertainment I missed a lot of famous cons in my country due to them always taking place elsewhere. The only local con we had was very small but I still loved it both times that I visited and despite going alone I'd always bond with some strangers for the day (during the 1st one some of my friends happened to be helpers, so I'd stumble aross them anyway, the 2nd one I spent with 2 girls that I talked to by the anime merch stall and we'd play scavenger hunt for the rest of the con). This year I found especially freeing when I got to attend Genshin Meet in Cracow, which might've been less than 300 people, but I still got to buy a ton of prints and take pictures with some lovely cosplayers. And since my time there was very limited, I got to run through the stalls and finish the Adventurers' Guild quests without feeling restricted. Missed a lot of interesting panels tho, which was a shame.
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to give them food. (it's me I want food, and will give undying loyalty in return) also just found you because I tend to watch a lot of cosplay videos, love your content now.
I am watching this vid on my iPad rn but i had to go on my phone to sub to u kz i kinda relate i dont go alone tho but i also started last year but i live in norway so theres only 1 con every year so i dont do it that often but i love cosplaying and love going with friends and the cons are so fun so i hope to see more of your vids💗💗
I've yet to go to an anime convention but I've gone to fighting game majors like Combo Breaker and Evo2022-2024 and cosplayed there while I was competing. Even gotten on stream a couple times and gotten the commentators to compliment my cosplay. And despite not cosplaying a fighting game character, I was still getting recognized and people fanboying/fangirling over my cosplay which just always puts a smile on my face. So, eventually I want to cosplay at an anime convention. I'm also in a rural part of the world where people around me don't care about Japanese media so I definitely empathize with you there on being isolated.
Man I've cosplayed so many time's the last time I cosplayed was on Halloween I cosplayed Nezuko and then this lady asked what I was I said Nezuko but she looked so dang confused so I said oh she's from a anime I watch and she said oh that's pretty that was so awkward Lol
Omg! Amazing Apollo! I've always dreamed of Ace Attorney cosplay team but there's only a handful of people in the fandom I can find and gather :0 Great job!
i remember seeing u at ganbatte con at genshin impact festival of the five( i was one of the people that helped with the panel)🙏 when u mentioned the character ur cosplaying i RECONGIZED u so quickly
So happy I stumbled across your video!! It's so entertaining and I loved your stories. Your art looks so nice as well!! I hope you get to go to more cons and have more fun in the future!
It's so cool seeing you make a video on the cons!! I was able to meet you at Ganbatte (I was the Charlie cosplayer lol) and it was so much fun!! Your cosplay was amazing and I'm still amazed by the hairstyling
I've been to anime conventions before with my sister but never cosplayed before, this year I got a anime friend from my school and hopefully he'll want to cosplay with me next year lol
Momocon 2024 was my 7th or 8th convention, and ever since my first con in 2021 as a 13 y/o, I’ve always gone with someone or had a companion while walking around. Monday of Momocon was the only day I had to be by myself, and I was lowkey biting my nails because I had no idea what to do and was expecting the worst 😓(especially because of the cosplay I had on). Thankfully, it ended being a rather mundane but decent experience, as I didn’t attend any panels but rather spent majority of my time in artist alley/dealers hall, along with watching the danganronpa & nearby shoots unfold. The one thing I will admit is that when you’re by yourself, you can go at your own pace, and not be constrained by the people you’re with (in a positive way of course)
kind of a thing, I started to lean toward older characters to cosplay after I turn 30 and I made Flame from Friren :D I also want to try Lilith from Hazbinhotel
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to own a 3D printer! Found your channel a couple of days ago and have been enjoying all you videos, keep up the great work!!
As a cosplayer, the easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to recognize their obscure cosplay. If anyone recognized my Vivy cosplay there's a good chance I would actually hug them lol #goldcardcomment

The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to cosplay their favorite character/ship with them! :D But is this really the easiest way.... #GoldCardComment
as a fellow anime fan in the Middle of Nowhere, thanks for the video! Going to cons is a blast, and its a good chance to meet other people with similar interests, as long as you don't mind being mostly online-only friends :p If you have the chance to go to the same cons again sometimes you can even bump into the same people again!
#GoldCardComment The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to master sewing and help them handmake their costumes for conventions! 🥰 Need to find a man to cosplay with lol 😌
#goldcardcomment The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to equip yourself with a sewing kit, duct tape, and super glue for cosplay emergencies at conventions.
Meanwhile I plan to cosplay for my first convention either a certain clock head, or a coffee drinker from a certain game franchise... (Or maybe the depressed emo poet mf but with the butterfly pistols from the same set of games.)
Not to make you delusional but she might be trying to flirt, since you were pretty popular with girls back in that summer camp, then she mightve liked you lol
As a cosplayer myself, The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to cosplay with them, and takes pics and videos with them And if that doesn't work and you don't do cosplays just carry their bags, become their personal photographer, buy merch that matches their character, and do their make up during cons #goldcardcomment (Thats how you can win my heart at least LOL)
If I tried to do someone's makeup they would never talk to me again 😂 I can do photos though!! I took a couple classes in university so let's go with that

Definitely going to watch more of your videos during the week!
I take great pride in my ✨vibes✨
And thank you!! I'm pretty happy with it, might try to fix the hair a bit though
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to infodump about whoever they're cosplaying and match their neurodivergence 😂
#goldencardcomment
(Just to clarify: Not all cosplayers are neurodivergent, but it is somewhat typical;
Said by someone who is neurodivergent herself ❤)
Okay but this would totally win me over. If someone comes up to me and starts yapping about Naruto I think I'd marry them on the spot
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to explain how 3D printing works. Seriously my printer’s been sitting in my garage for a year and video tutorials aren’t helpful I’ve had that exact file for Apollo’s bracelet waiting to go how do you make the printing bed level-
But seriously, with 10+ years of cons and cosplaying, I’ve found the best way to meet people is to go to specific fandom meetups! ❤️
(Also! ^^)
Wow thank you for the info! Screenshotting this comment so I can come back to it when I buy the wig!
A NEW SKILL TREE LMAO
But it's true, socializing is definitely a skill you can practice and improve!
Oh my gosh I thought I was alone! None of my friends watch anime or have a single interest in cosplay...so I have to go alone every time.
The struggle is REAL
Omg I saw Apollo and clicked so fast 😂 I love your art style, you’re so underrated!! New sub! 😄
Thank you so much!! Apollo is so much fun to draw
fire fire fire!!
very lovely to hear more people talking about con experiences
I'm so new to the world of conventions, it's really exciting to see so much hype around them!
Wait Wait this so cute XD I’m subscribed cause I want to see more
Thank you!! Love your animations by the way!
@@sketchesbyaidan ugh OMG your to sweet
I would recommend going to Toronto fan expo!! I went this passing year! It’s really fun and the people are so so nice! And it’s quite big!
I would love to attend bigger conventions now that I'm a bit more experienced!! If it's Toronto, I'd like to go with somebody though 😅
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to join their cosplay cult as seen with the venti
Can confirm, Im trying to become a voice actor and I do indeed hate myself
I literally have never played a pokemon game or watched an episode of the show, But I NEED the Psyducket hat
Yeah the hat is awesome but YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED POKEMON?? Add that to your bucket list, my friend
@@sketchesbyaidan we'll see what I can do...
Now if that ain't a mood (not the cosplay, I still have yet to attempt one, the alone part)
Living in a city that has little to no entertainment I missed a lot of famous cons in my country due to them always taking place elsewhere.
Too bad you missed those panels, but a Genshin Meet sounds sick!! I'd love to go to one sometime
In the quotes of Sr Pelo, WOW! THATS RELATABLE
The easiest way to win the heart of a cosplayer is to give them food. (it's me I want food, and will give undying loyalty in return)
also just found you because I tend to watch a lot of cosplay videos, love your content now.
Thanks so much! Could not relate more to the food comment 🍜
Aw thank you! Norwegian cons sound so interesting
It's awesome that you got recognized so much! All of us rural folk need to get together sometime and go to Anime Expo or something lmao
@sketchesbyaidan I've heard a lot about Anime Expo, and I have some friends down in LA that go to it
Man I've cosplayed so many time's the last time I cosplayed was on Halloween I cosplayed Nezuko and then this lady asked what I was I said Nezuko but she looked so dang confused so I said oh she's from a anime I watch and she said oh that's pretty that was so awkward
Lol
OOF. I think every anime fan goes through this though, you're not alone
@@sketchesbyaidan lol good to know

same here!! no friends who like anime, so whenevr i go to a convention i always chicken out on cosplaying because i dont want to be alone hahaha
You won't be alone though, there are so many people in costume! If you wanna do it, I'd recommend you just go for it!
OMG Venti metion 😂
Omg! Amazing Apollo! I've always dreamed of Ace Attorney cosplay team but there's only a handful of people in the fandom I can find and gather :0 Great job!

Well, that's ironic. But great job, Conan.

So happy I stumbled across your video!! It's so entertaining and I loved your stories. Your art looks so nice as well!! I hope you get to go to more cons and have more fun in the future!

I've been to anime conventions before with my sister but never cosplayed before, this year I got a anime friend from my school and hopefully he'll want to cosplay with me next year lol
Do it!! Cosplaying is so fun, especially with a buddy
That's very true! If you ever want to head over to a different panel or take a break, you can do it whenever you want. Definitely a pro of going alone
Im so thankful that I usually go in conventions with my sister since I know many people who are alone can be pretty dangerous
Totally. It's always a good idea to have trusted people around so you can be safe!
❤
kind of a thing, I started to lean toward older characters to cosplay after I turn 30 and I made Flame from Friren :D I also want to try Lilith from Hazbinhotel
Me too, I have a weird desire to only cosplay people around the same age as me lol
