Ahhh the Mamba. The midlife crisis sportscar of Elite. You buy it because of how gorgeous it is, yet you never take it out to fly because of how it is vastly outperformed in your daily tasks by the family SUV.

This is not a criticism of the Mamba but it always reminds me by its shape of an anti-gravity sled from the Wipeout series.
Right? I absolutely agree. I was like 15 when the first Wipeout came out, and I was absolutely obsessed with that game. Let alone the 2 and the 3d... The ships design in that game was always amazing. I don't know if Designers Republic only designed the logos, menus, etc, or the ships also.

Exactly! It is a common misunderstanding, comparing the mamba to the FDL. The mamba performs a different tactical role in (wing-)combat. It is not a 1vs.1 duell-fighter. Catering to that philosophy, i am working on two builds for quite a while...

Good to see I'm both not alone on PS4 Elite nowadays, but I'm also not the last Mamba enjoyer on the platform. I prefer the "funny shotgun go brr" build myself, but you might've convinced me to start rehab, go on a diet and use multis again lol

Oh I love all shotguns builds. They are ridiculous. I have got some of them in my videos, but none for the Mamba.
Yeah I am on PS4 because I am always broke and can't afford a PC. Although, no more consoles for me in the future, next will be a PC. If I win the lottery or something...

Una muy buena nave, yo tengo una y la adoro.
Sobre todo, bonita. Cuesta un poco pillarle el tranquillo porque es rápida pero no maniobra como otras, pero si te acostumbras, para PvE es muy divertida. Y con 5 anclajes, uno de ellos bien gordo, hay muchas combinaciones de builds de todo tipo.

Yeah I totally understand you. Actually, I really like it when I got used to it. I don't know if it's any good at PvP to be honest, but at PvE, give it a try, maybe you'll like it.

Yeah, this ship is never my cup of tea at first, but then after a few minutes, when you get used to it and adapt to its mandatory hit&run style using faon/faoff constantly, you start to like it.
The insane amount of shield that this ship is capable of, of course helps hehe.

@@The-Man-On-The-Mountain Will definitely give it a go and adapt my combat style. My current favourite combat ship is frag vulture - love to be up close and personal! Once heavily engineered it is soooo deadly.

Hell yeah, the vulture is second to none at dogfighting. Maybe the FAS could be close to it, but still, the Vulture can drive you crazy. Once it's behind you... good luck!
And a really great option, the frags. Have you tried the Pacifiers engineered to double shot?
I highly recommend it.
Also, the shock cannons in the vulture are devastating.
@@The-Man-On-The-Mountain Haven't tried the pacifiers because couldn't be bothered to do the grind for them yet. Did it for the prismatics then gave up with the rest. Look forward to seeing the Phantom video.
@@markentwistle5915 Yeah, I totally feel you. But you can make merits at combat, and it's more fun. You can do it pledged to any super power, although right now is a bit tricky because San tu is no longer an anarchy system. I mean, some super powers have got specific combta tasks to make merits, but sometimes they haven't got any systems in expansion, so you have to look for an anarchy system (to not be fined, and get wanted and notoriety), and hunt power play ships. It's just 30 merits per ship, but it's much more fun than the votes transport and all that sht.

Lol I kind of agree. I like it with kits, but everyone has their own taste. For instance, everybody seems to like the FDL, and I find it atrocious. I also like the space banana (imperial courier), and objectively, it's a crime to the eyes 😂.
But I always thought that the classic kits are lazy, low poly, and unimaginative (more fins over fins and things like that).

I see you are changing some tactics depending on the ship you face.
On the Scout, Eagle, DBX, Cobra, Courier, Federal Gunship you haven't targetted a sub-system?
I assume that is because you don't need to or it is quicker to not do?
But on the Python, you target the power plant - is that to kill it quicker?
Did the Python use an SCB at around the 6:15 mark?
Were the bright blue moving rings the SCB spooling up?
On a forum yesterday I read that NPC's may use SCB's when they had one ring of shield left.
How is the Python still moving around when it's powerplant is at 0%?

The Anaconda launched a Taipan, do you think it best to take out the SLF before continuing to hit the main ship? Or does it vary?

1-No, I am on PS4, so no tracking device or VR. What you saw is the free sight feature for the 1st person cam, using the "gyro" of the controller pad. I like to use it in the game a lot, because it's really immersive.
2-Yeah, you have to change tactics depending on many factors, like the level of the NPC, its weapons, its ship, your ship, your engineering...
For instance, dangerous or above, almost always use FA-off a lot, so it's more difficult to keep yourself on their back, even with an eagle or a vulture. So you have to adapt. Especially with the Mamba, which is like a muscle car: it goes crazy fast in a straight line, but really struggles to turn. Also, FA-off orbiting is not easy with this ship, because as the FDL, it's designed to hit and run repeatedly. BUT, one of the great things of this ship, especially for PvE, is that is the ship with the most powerful shield for its size (I believe). This build has got more than 3K shield, which is absolutely ridiculous for a ship this size.
3-I always subtarget the PP on pythons, clippers, cutters, and anacondas, especially when they are dangerous or above.
Yeah, many times, the NPCs keep moving with the PP at 0% integrity. You just need one or two more hits and it's done.
4-High level NPCs always use SCB. That is why it's always a good idea to mount a rail engineered to what you want, but with the experimental effect for feedback cascade to cut the cell shield charging.
5-I decided to go for the fighter first because of fun, mainly. I had a really powerful shield and I could have focused on the conda. But fighters are really really annoying and let me tell you something: they can take a lot of shiled from you if you don't watch it out, even all of it if you are not careful. The conda moves way slower and I could take care of the fighter first with no problem.

I plan on Xbox with seven of my friends, three of us have gotten mambas and we've been messing around with them they're a lot of fun .
I'm running two medium missile launchers two burst lasers and one fix multi Cannon.
Just unlocked all the guardian stuff haven't unlocked any engineers yet.
Well, what you tell looks like a lot of fun not gonna lie. An all mambas squadron sounds fun AF.
Go for the engineers stuff. It's a lot of work, but it's really worth it. The worst part is the level 5 mats, especially the manufactured. There are tricks to get them, even a exploit that Frontier allows, but it's still a pain in the A. Although I enjoyed the process. Months of grinding, tasks, and missions, but I loved it because it's a kind of gameplay that allows me to play while listening to podcasts or even watching videos, so it was relaxing to me. But I had time, so I understand why other people who can only play 3 or 4 hours per week, don't like it.
Engineering is a must, especially for PvP and AX.
@@The-Man-On-The-Mountain I know what you mean man the game is super relaxing and that's the closest I'm ever going to get to seeing the celestial bodies I'd like to see in real life.
Engineering next on the list, we're trying to get everybody in the squad finished with the alien stuff most of us have gotten anaconda at this point .

You say the ship is hit and run but you use all gimballed weapons?
Yes, because my aim is really bad. The fact that I use a certain tactic doesn't mean that said tactic is the best for the ship. This ship works better with fixed and hit&run because it turns not so well, but is really fast going straight, but I am really bad at aiming with fixed from a big distance.
The Mamba kind of requires gimballed on everything except the Huge hardpoint due to how terrible the convergence is.
You could park an Anaconda in the space between the two Large hardpoints.
@@Ett.Gammalt.Bergtroll That is not my point: a frag Mamba is a hit and run, a gimballed cannons Mamba is a hit and run, a flechette Mamba is a hit and run, but a gimballed MC Mamba is designed to stay at range. It is the opponent who has to close the gap and that is difficult given the Mamba' speed, which is the whole point.

IT's a great pve ship......but it's a poor Titan wrecker. only three slots for ax weapons and Guardian nanite torpedoes. I know because I use one.
It's the only ship have engineered well enough to even reach a titan.
I don't know about that because I haven't got a PC, therefore no Odyssey for me.

Noté que las primeras batallas son todas contra naves pequeñas. Y lanbatalla contra la Anaconda dió pocos créditos, por lo que el rango del NPC debió ser algo bajo.
No termino de entender si el video es sólo una demostración de lo bella que es la nave, o si intenta ser una reseña para quienes estamos interesados en comprar una.
