Bow leg deformity ,Genu varum (also called bow-leggedness, bandiness, bandy-leg, and tibia vara), is a varus deformity marked by (outward) bowing at the knee, which means that the lower leg is angled inward (medially) in relation to the thigh's axis, giving the limb overall the appearance of an archer's bow.
Causes of bow leg deformity:
- Muscular imbalance
- Rickets, a bone growth problem caused by lack of vitamin D or calcium.
-Blount's disease, a bone growth disorder in the shinbone (tibia)
-Abnormal bone development.
-Fractures that do not heal correctly.
-Lead or fluoride poisoning.
- osteoarthritis
In this video we perform bow legs correction exercise in 2 phases
1.)Stretching ( Mobility ) of tight muscles
2.) Strengthening of weak muscles.

Sir hereditory bow legs could be changed or not
one good exercise I can recommend is sitting in padmasan
all the muscles shown in the first two excercises are used in padmasan so, I say, try to sit in padmasan every day as many times as you can and for as long as you can.
I had bow legs, I tried many ways to fix it, I do the belt method and excercises daily along with sitting in padmasan for 10mins 3 times a day, and have been doing for the past 3 months and no it wont compeletely resolve the issue but now Im pretty close to having straight legs and nobody can actually tell I have bow legs when I have any sort of full pants on, only when I wear shorts it is slightly visible but alas you wont get perfect legs without surgery but it doesnt matter as long as you dont have knee pain all is well. For most people though it is only about visual unpleasentness as most do not have any sort of knee pain even with bowed legs
All you need is hard work and patience, try it out for a week and you will start seeing results

it's pretty good, not 100% daddy long legs but it's much better than before. I'm not very tall (5'10") but I have pretty long legs for my height and I used to face issues with bow legs as they were quite visible in full pants, so I did these exercises along with the belt and padmasana method and I've gotten pretty great results. I cannot stand fully straight without the curve visible slightly, but I can bend my legs just a little bit and try to tuck my knees together and it looks pretty convincing. Even if you look from the side it looks ok and from front and back, no one will be able to tell you have bow legs
Remember, doing these exercises won't straighten your legs completely, but they will sure allow you to control different muscles of the legs to a greater extent. You can take advantage of that to make your legs appear straight 😜
Dedication is what you need though. If you just do it once or twice a week you won't see any difference

I saw a video about five years ago that recommended walking backwards to correct bow legs. I started doing it and can say that, if I wear pants, no one will know I'm bow legged. Unfortunately, that's not the case if I wear shorts. Exercises may lessen the issue, but they won't correct them. The only way to do that is with surgery. That said, may as well do all these exercises. They might not work, but they can't hurt. Hate to be a downer on this, but I know how devastating it is to believe in a cure that isn't one.

Hi Doc, I’ve a 2 year old daughter, have seen similar kind of bone structure of her, do you recommend these exercises for her as well.
No, not at all.
I would take her to a pediatrician most cases these correct automatically but in case if they see any structural deformation it is easy to correct at early age with simple braces or even posture correction. She could not do these exercises at that age or might harm more if done incorrectly.
