It's ironic that DC made Batman Beyond because Batman TAS was too dark and wanted too appeal to a younger audience, but incidentally made an even darker show. Batman Beyond talked about heavy subjects like drugs and dysfunctional families; hell, most people in the show were assholes because Gotham became cyberpunk.
Yeah a lot of the episodes were Very Special Episodes about drugs and the solution was always for Terry to make the villain OD on their own drugs and/or not save them from an exploding warehouse
Did you know? Blanket Octopi are the real life super villains of the sea. Not only does it have a membrane that looks like a cape, but since it's immune to the venom of the Portuguese Man 'O War, it will tear bits and pieces off of them and use its flesh as a whip. At level 50 it evolves into the Kraken.
sans the skeleton I thought that to get a camouflage octopus it needed to be fed several pounds spagot flesh....I new it the manuscript I got from Seven Eleven was a fake
Kilberto Beardface The comics were even better. My only complaint about the show was how hard they pushed BrucexBarbara considering all the other people in Batman's harem.
On paper, the show should've been garbage, but the execution was remarkable. The first season was great. Blight is one of the best DC villains of all time, and it had some really cool bad guys, like the Royal Flush Gang, Shriek, Inque and the Mr. Freeze episode was fantastic. The second season didn't have a story arc, so it wasn't as good, but some episodes like "Eyewitness" and "Sneak Peek" were great. Season 3 was... very meh, the Big Time character never really went anywhere for me, but the Repeller was cool and "Out of the Past" was one of the best episodes of the entire show. It's not fantastic or anything, but it's way better than anyone ever expected. And the film was also very, very good, but the Joker's plan and his return were extremely un-Joker like.
slifer875 Did TAS ever get as dark as the flashback scene in return of the joker where drake gets kidnapped and tortured by the joker? That was really messed up.
Okay, something the guys didn't mention that I was hoping they would, is one of the most amazing Batman scenes ever from an episode of Batman Beyond called Disappearing Inque (To avoid spoilers, go watch the episode); It's mentioned earlier in the episode to avoid plot dump, but near the end Terry gets into a fight with Inque, who is an updated version of Clayface that's weak to water. Terry gets into trouble, and Bruce leaves the Batcave in disguise to see what's up. Arriving in a long coat, he sees what looks like Terry, but is Inque in disguise, who grabs him and attempts to crush him. As she squeezes, metal plates slide over Bruces forearms, his coat bursts off, and he reveals that he's wearing a Batman Exo Suit, and then the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK from Batman The Animated Series starts playing. It is so well done, such an awesome scene.
"You're pretty strong...for some clown who thinks he's Batman." ""I AM Batman!" Batman Beyond was super Hype. And fuck yeah "Epilogue" was awesome Woolie! The heart to heart with Amanda Waller, everything about it was masterfully done.
thepersonwhocomentz "This is fine" "No really, I mean, I'm pressing the stick but it must be me" "I'm getting a little frustrated that I'm pressing the button and it's not working, *I'm* fucking it up" "This is fine."
Bartosz Skorupa IF superman 64 wasn't on a timer for I think the entire game for each level, maybe it'd be a bit more worth pulling hairs out over for fun.
That moment in Joker returns when he points a gun at his minion and shoots him with a toy gun, only to be impaled by it moments later is up there with the dissapearing pencil for me.
One of my favorite moments form Batman Beyond was when Terry fell in love with a girl and she was part of I think it was the royal flush gang but I don't remember, correct me if I'm wrong, and at the end when she got taken away Terry asked Bruce if he even had something like this happen. Bruce smiled and said "Let me tell you about a women named Selena Kyle". Fuck I love that moment, also this movie
I've always loved the Earthmover episode of Beyond. Something about the guy being fused into the wall with all the radioactive tendrils sticking out of him always struck me as really terrifying. The look always reminded me of the Cave of Gi in Final Fantasy VII.
Can you imagine how good the movie would have been if instead of having a chip implanted, Tim actually became the Joker naturally? The Joker fucks him up so hard that Tim actually loses his mind. The Joker had no plan, nothing. The Joker is dead, and has been dead for years, but the damage finally took his toll and drove Drake to actual insanity. And Tim never recovers either. Maybe he dies when the satellite explodes the building and Terry never gets there in time. The Joker wins, even beyond the grave. That would've been the greatest ending to any Batman story possible. Instead we got some sciency shmiency Micro-chip bullshit.
+AfroMetalMizu For a minute there I though you were talking about an awkward sex scene in the porn parody the guy above mentioned. But then I remembered the scene from the actual movie.
well, the suit picking actually has some effect- it lets you pick what you want to have equipped at the start of the stage, and it gives an overview of the suits (that you would never really get a chance to see in gameplay unless they did a start screen thing). I actually like this clean switching without goint to start.
I love that on most other channels, the players would probs briefly talk about the game in general and then start chatting about the cartoon and Batman, whereas these nerds go ALL IN on that tech trying to learn how to min-max suit variants.
I don't care what anyone says. Not only did they get Hamill to return to the joker role. THEY WENT WITH THE ORIGINAL JOKER DESIGN. The creators knew what they were doing.
hey idk if you guys know him, but videogamedunkey featured you in his newest video as one of youtube's best creators. its only for a couple seconds, but just thought you'd like to know :)
Batman Beyond was the shit. I loved everything about that series and it deserves better than what DC has done with it. And why the FUCK doesn't Rocksteady just make the next Arkham game in the Beyond canon?
@TheSw1tcher where can i find the video where terry was about to fight guile, but got rocked by the sonic hurricane? i remember seeing it during breaks of one tournament on stream. it was an anime then it switched to cvs2. it was funny af
Hello Best friends of the super variety. My name's Brian for A CrowMn Review's Bread and Butter Combos... the fighting game community's number one source for all combinations of the bread and butter variety. There were a lot of combos in this video so, it seems only appropriate to give this video a combo score to see how well both bread and/or butter was represented. Here we gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! COMBO SCORE 3 Breads / 4 Butters WONDERFUL! That's a pretty good score. You guys did it. Combo on.
Okay, so we settle this here. Killing Joke having come out this past summer and whatever, but here's the question: *Is the idea of a relationship between Bruce and Barbara inherently a bad one?* I wanted the TKJ animation to work and boy did it not, but I see so many people hung up on the idea of Bruce/Barb being at the root of the problem and I contest that. I think done well it can lead to some good drama. For example, in Beyond, it was treated as (as Barb put it herself) "ancient history", and them dealing with the aftermath in later years. What do you, the distinguished anonymous rabble, feel about this subject?
CyricZ Personally I think it's a bad idea because 1) it undermines Batman's appeal of being the embodiment of will power and makes him look like a backstabbing creepo sleeping with his best friend's daughter, and 2) it invariably turns their relationship into a pseudo-incestuous father/daughter thing, because Batman is typically a father figure to the rest of the Batfamily, and Barbara's relationship to her actual dad is already complicated and ingrained in her character. Can you make a good story out of it? Absolutely, you can make a good story out of just about anything. But it would be so far away from what makes a Batman story a Batman story that it would be tonally dissonant. It would be like turning ET into a slasher movie; theoretically it could be good on its own merits, but the majority of people who are aware of or like ET would treat it as something super weird and off, something only to be enjoyed ironically. Whether it is an inherently bad idea or not, TKJ movie handled it so poorly and so clumsily that it has salted the earth of any potential that story might otherwise have.
I remember playing a demo of this off a disc from a Playstation Magazine YEARS ago, and it was just as confusing and awkward then as it is now! xD There was a way to deploy your wings and glide, but I had NO idea what I pressed! xD
My memory is fuzzy but didn't BB have some pretty horrible villain deaths/defeats? Guy getting his hearing blown out, a guy phasing and falling through to the center of the earth, Terry slamming like 30 splicer syringes into that guy to Cronenberg him up?
Dana was the most fine bat Gf and Bruce doesn't pass on the mantle.....Terry fucking stole the Batsuit to avenge his father's death and Bruce was all like....you're pretty good. And Terry was like, thanks Boss! Meanwhile Snake Eater played in the background.
"Epilogue" isn't just an ending to Batman Beyond, it was meant to be an ending to the entire DCAU, but they decided to do one more season of JLU. The last shot of the episode even mirrors the first scene of Batman TAS.
UNDER THE COWL, AUSTIN! WHO IS IT?! WHO IS IT?! PULL IT OFF AND YOU'LL FIND A SUPER HANDSOME BIG DICKED MILLIONAIRE, AUSTIN! THIS ISN'T A RUSE I PROMISE!
I need to settle this once and for all. Which Joker Death Scene is better? The Censored version where he gets electrocuted offscreen or the Uncensored version where he gets shot by the "BANG" flag?
Of course, a Batman game with "Joker" in the title would have form changes: Offensive Suit = Heat Memory Defensive Suit = Metal Memory (with Ryuki Guard Vents for some raisin) Nimble Suit = Cyclone Memory? Standard Suit = Cyclone Joker
You can beat this game in probably less than two hours. When I was like 8 I saved up for months and months to buy this and was so horribly disappointed
I'm always blown away at how not once did the fact that this spin-off could easily have been a big pile of shit didn't even cross my mind until Pat mentioned it in some earlier video.
Goodvillain 101 Yeah I've member that one episode where the guy was basically abusing steroids
MAN THAT SHOW WAS FUCKING AWESOME
How many villains did Terry let die/not save? Like that guy who used Venom who Terry threw into a pile of Venom patches. He straight up OD'd.
Yeah a lot of the episodes were Very Special Episodes about drugs and the solution was always for Terry to make the villain OD on their own drugs and/or not save them from an exploding warehouse
terry let that bitch nigga ghost have it
"Wait, I like to talk, too." - Terry Mcginnis
One of the best lines of the whole movie.
"-But that's my name now.
-Tell that to my subconcious."
*cue guitar*
is still one of my favourite endings to any episode ever.
Did you know? Blanket Octopi are the real life super villains of the sea. Not only does it have a membrane that looks like a cape, but since it's immune to the venom of the Portuguese Man 'O War, it will tear bits and pieces off of them and use its flesh as a whip.
At level 50 it evolves into the Kraken.
sans the skeleton that's super sick
sans the skeleton the doom guy of the sea
I thought you had to trade it above level 67 with a necronomicon fragment
Eleazar A. Oliva Naw son that's the camouflage octopus.
sans the skeleton I thought that to get a camouflage octopus it needed to be fed several pounds spagot flesh....I new it the manuscript I got from Seven Eleven was a fake
could you imagine a beyond game in the arkham engine with the original art style though? oh god.
OfficialChrissums you mean the game EVERYONE wants but Rocksteady is too much of a coward to make?
+Sanobearon+ who would be brave enough to make a Batman Beyond game? If it would be like the ark ham games
Man, that movie was so fucking good.
Kilberto Beardface The comics were even better. My only complaint about the show was how hard they pushed BrucexBarbara considering all the other people in Batman's harem.
I remember watching that just after Heath Ledger had just died, and the comparison between the stories freaked me out.
On paper, the show should've been garbage, but the execution was remarkable. The first season was great. Blight is one of the best DC villains of all time, and it had some really cool bad guys, like the Royal Flush Gang, Shriek, Inque and the Mr. Freeze episode was fantastic.

It's not fantastic or anything, but it's way better than anyone ever expected.
And the film was also very, very good, but the Joker's plan and his return were extremely un-Joker like.
I know right fucking perfect.Sad thing is if they tried making a live action version they'd fuck it up immediately.
slifer875 Did TAS ever get as dark as the flashback scene in return of the joker where drake gets kidnapped and tortured by the joker? That was really messed up.

Looking at the thumbnail for a split second I thought this was "THE MASK"
"You're pretty strong...for some clown who thinks he's Batman."
""I AM Batman!"
Batman Beyond was super Hype. And fuck yeah "Epilogue" was awesome Woolie! The heart to heart with Amanda Waller, everything about it was masterfully done.
terry was alright. i really liked the brief time dick grayson was batman
Richter The D That's why I read comics ;3 Dick was Batman with Damien as his Robin
Not as hype as Old Batman fucking superman up!
AfroMetalMizu Damien Wayne is a huge cock and so is Talia Al Ghul.
sans the skeleton I know ;P But Damien's had some good development
Liam: "This is totally on the same level as Superman 64."
No. It's not. Liam. Go play it. I *dare* you.
Yea, this game actually looks playable. Infact, they prove it is in this video!
thepersonwhocomentz "This is fine"
"No really, I mean, I'm pressing the stick but it must be me"
"I'm getting a little frustrated that I'm pressing the button and it's not working, *I'm* fucking it up"
"This is fine."
Yeah. This game is beatable and has a coherent story.
Superman 64 levels without rings are actually fun cos of hilarious glitches
Bartosz Skorupa IF superman 64 wasn't on a timer for I think the entire game for each level, maybe it'd be a bit more worth pulling hairs out over for fun.
That moment in Joker returns when he points a gun at his minion and shoots him with a toy gun, only to be impaled by it moments later is up there with the dissapearing pencil for me.

you're right. the girl's name was Melanie, and she was Ten in the Royal Flush Gang.
amazingfan15 he means her gang name was 10. not that she was 10
Woolie's love for Batman Beyond really warms my heart. I'm so happy Woolie loves Terry and the whole Beyond show. It really needs more love.
*Woolie Uninstalling Omikron from STEAM*
....... Never again.
it was never on steam, it was given by no other than david case for the memory of david boai's death.
I've always loved the Earthmover episode of Beyond. Something about the guy being fused into the wall with all the radioactive tendrils sticking out of him always struck me as really terrifying. The look always reminded me of the Cave of Gi in Final Fantasy VII.
Everyone thought that Terry was just gonna be some 90's edgelord, but bitch yoU THOUGHT
One of my favorite parts in Return of the Joker is when Bruce sees Joker again for the first time you can feel how PISSED he is about it.
I'd like to imagine Pat wears a jester hat like that when playing Omikron.
Pretty sure the plot of this movie was Robin is a werejoker.
N00BSYBORG yeah, pretty much
*Jokehog
N00BSYBORG you mean a jokewolf
or a double clown
DA NA DA NA DA NA NA NA NA
Quick, Robin, defeat these Dark Gaia monsters!

Man it's been a while hearing the old Green Greens like this.
This is your government mandated daily reminder. Batman Beyond is awesome and we'll never ever get a good game made with that premise.
Hey nice new pic ;3
AfroMetalMizu
Thanks fer noticin'
blaster702
This seems like it should be a Mystery Box episode.
I feel like it's been YEARS since I've just straight heard the classic SBFP theme
When's best friends watch Batman The Killing Joke?
Same time as Blazeblu
SuchALustForFries I'd rather have "let's watch: suicide squad adult parody"
SuchALustForFries Complete with awkward sex scene
+AfroMetalMizu For a minute there I though you were talking about an awkward sex scene in the porn parody the guy above mentioned.
But then I remembered the scene from the actual movie.
Epilogue is dope. God I loved JL/JLU
Batman pushing that little girl on a swing never fails to make me cry.

That character portrait as his health depletes is amazing.

Played this back in the day on my Gameboy Color, it was a pretty decent beat-em-up.
hey idk if you guys know him, but videogamedunkey featured you in his newest video as one of youtube's best creators. its only for a couple seconds, but just thought you'd like to know :)
Tommy Mills I knew I liked that guy
Before I watched this video, I was disappointed that I didn't know about this game as a kid; now I'm relieved I didn't know
Oh shit it's this game!!!!! I actually played this believe or not. Glad to see you guys playing it
SO SCHWAYYYYYYYYY
ahhhh you beat me to it lol
you shoulda said SLAGGIT, you beat me to it
What the frak?
The movie was awesome. My fave part was the scene with the "Bang" gun killing that one clown. So sick.
Batman Beyond was the shit. I loved everything about that series and it deserves better than what DC has done with it. And why the FUCK doesn't Rocksteady just make the next Arkham game in the Beyond canon?
Defensive suit deals more damage than offensive suit. How...how can you fuck up this bad?
crouch, special.. kick, punch...
-its all in the mind
why did that make me laugh so much
The most I remember about Batman Beyond is the promo they used to play where Terry tries to tell his family that he's Batman, and they laugh at him.
@TheSw1tcher where can i find the video where terry was about to fight guile, but got rocked by the sonic hurricane? i remember seeing it during breaks of one tournament on stream. it was an anime then it switched to cvs2. it was funny af

3 Breads / 4 Butters
WONDERFUL!
That's a pretty good score. You guys did it. Combo on.
You're out of your league McGuiness. I know every move the original Batman and Robin knew at their peak.
God, this is Woolie and Liam's equivalent of Matt and Pat's video of Umbrella Chronicles. It just falls apart the more they play it. lol
why does Terry look like a Young Legato Bluesummers at 21:39??
i was worried that it was just nostalgia that made me like batman beyond. but im glad to hear im not alone in loving it.
I would love to see an uploaded video of some sick combos using the nimble suit.
Man, Terry is by far my favorite Batman. This show was way too fucking great
"That's Batman Beyond, go watch the mov--"
Never thought of elderly Bruce Wayne buying depends till now. Thanks Woolie
Okay, so we settle this here. Killing Joke having come out this past summer and whatever, but here's the question:

This game really brought out their QA instincts.
Play more Omikron, you cowards!
And play CentralFiction this Friday.
such beautiful suffering
*****
Your face is the equivalent to Omikron.
Anything to delay Omikron
Sacrafice your soul to add more time on a clock.
Go watch the move 'gets interupted by the end title screen'. :D
I remember playing a demo of this off a disc from a Playstation Magazine YEARS ago, and it was just as confusing and awkward then as it is now! xD
There was a way to deploy your wings and glide, but I had NO idea what I pressed! xD
Dredging up my childhood, one game at a time.
My memory is fuzzy but didn't BB have some pretty horrible villain deaths/defeats? Guy getting his hearing blown out, a guy phasing and falling through to the center of the earth, Terry slamming like 30 splicer syringes into that guy to Cronenberg him up?
Also Inqe's stalker being left as a helpless gooey blob monster
Putting a shit ton of venom patches on the one guy
the best friends are digging up more of my past.
I remember owning BB:RotJ on VHS as a kid. It's probably still at my parents house honestly
Wow, that Green Greens was quite the blast from the past.
This *definitely* was in that pile of games Matt bought...
17:51,
That face in the top-left though..
Did Woolie browse the plot of Batman Beyond on wikipedia or something? I can't believe anyone who's seen the show could know so little about it.
"His whole deal" No, they changed that after some time.
Just checked out a speedrun for this game and the Defence suit is the only way to go.
Fuck my exam, I'm watching this movie again tonight
1:34 MOTHERFUCKING OCTOPUS BE PLAYING GOLDENEYE.
At least it's not Omikron.
UNDER THE COWL, AUSTIN! WHO IS IT?! WHO IS IT?! PULL IT OFF AND YOU'LL FIND A SUPER HANDSOME BIG DICKED MILLIONAIRE, AUSTIN! THIS ISN'T A RUSE I PROMISE!
I think implying that this game had any development meetings at all is giving it a lot more credit than it deserves.
"Its hard to get it all the way up" sound like you need to see a doctor but don't worry there's a pill for that.
this better turn into a full LP
This game came out eight years after Alone in the Dark.
I started looking up lunatics unleashed videos and youtube led me into power puff girl z territory!
The PlayStation version of this and Shadow the Hedgehog were two of my favorite games as a little kid. Fuck, I had some low standards.
How many people paused this episode, looked up the JLU: Epilogue episode and watched it before coming back? I did...
Has the Zaibatsu seen the Batman Unlimited films? That series is supposed to tie Beyond to The Animated Series.
Eugh, Woolie you're so wrong. Batman can do literally everything with the right amount of preptime. Gaaaaaaawwwwwwddddd
I need to settle this once and for all.
Which Joker Death Scene is better? The Censored version where he gets electrocuted offscreen or the Uncensored version where he gets shot by the "BANG" flag?
The uncensored version.
woah woah woolie, he was having a heart attack thus resorted to a gun
You guys need to use the OG intro more, seriously. Haven't we all complained about this already?
didn't they remake it on PS 1
Can't wait to watch this! *Liam and Woolie start talking* welp never mind
The titlecard implies that this was a N64 exclusive, so why do I have it on PS1?
Man, I remember playing through the game.
I love these FUCKING DEAFENING EXPLOSION SOUND EFFECTS
The _Batman Beyond_ comic was good too. Poor Dick Greyson lost an eye and leg after the Joker put him in a coma before going after Robin #2.
as much as I loved Batman Beyond, my favorite thing about it wasn't in the show itself, it was the Toonami promo voiced by Peter Cullen.
Taking a break from the koopy are we? we'll see...
This game is as beautiful as I remember
its crazy how casually they say zed like that's what normal people say
I never knew there was a BATMAN VS JUGALOO game.
how long till let's watch Batman Beyond Return of the Joker?
Of course, a Batman game with "Joker" in the title would have form changes:
Offensive Suit = Heat Memory
Defensive Suit = Metal Memory (with Ryuki Guard Vents for some raisin)
Nimble Suit = Cyclone Memory?
Standard Suit = Cyclone Joker
I bet you guys Old Bruce has Bat Diapers, a Bat Walker, a Bat Stair lift, and a Bat Cane. Wanna know why?
BECUH HE (was) BATMAAAN!
So you know now you're obligated to play superman64 and at least one of the old old spiderman games.
That Spider-man was solid (from what I remember).
I dunno if my nostalgia goggles are on, but you're right on that one. Spiderman 1 and 2 were fucking great.
