Tony Hawk's Final Video Part - Tapes You Leave Behind

- Tony Hawk gives us his last video part “Tapes You Leave Behind.”
In Tony's words:
The project was inspired by Stacy Peralta’s first video entitled “Skateboarding In The Eighties” in 1981 (before Bones Brigade Video Show). It featured Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, and me, using this same [timeless] Ultravox song, from which the lyrics inspired the title. I asked the same crew, adding Lance Mountain and Tommy Guerrero, to revisit some of their tricks in that video and BBVS since we’re all still actively skating 40+ years later. It has been my distinct honor to be associated with these legends through the decades, and it felt right to include them in my videographic swan song.
I’ll still be here skating as much as possible, but no longer torturing myself mentally & physically for the sake of comprehensive video missions.

This man has given his all to skateboarding. Thank you Tony!
And it's not over yet ! Just amazing to watch him charging like an animal at that age.
It's a little sad that the mainstream world doesn't stop to recognize this in a big way.
I mean, who in the hell does that ? There's absolutely no friggin' body in the whole
wide world in any sport or activity who displays such a remarkable physical condition
or we'd have to be talking about Green Berets or so..
Until the wheels fall off.
Kelly Slater is the only other one I can think of @@alainvosselman9960
Ain't nothing over!
I know Tony will keep blowing our minds!
I love his stokedness when he lands those last few tricks. Such a great human being and role model to have for us in the skateboarding world.
Tony Hawk calling "Last Video Part!" is kinda like that skater friend who always says "last try I swear!". Like yeah, OK Tony. See you again in 5 years. He's like the Hayao Miyazaki of skateboarding in terms of number of times "retired". Amazing part Tony! You're a legend man.
" Last time i swear " 😂😂😂 So true !! Can't remember how much i said or heard that one back in the days. And if it was a bad day, it would end with a loud cracking sound... someone lost all focus and payed a price.....lol.
Not gonna lie, you got me there with that first part. I was like, "Bro, why are you disrespecting a legend?"
This really feels like a unlockable video you get in a Tony Hawk game after finishing career mode and completing all goals
Absolutely legendary. Grew up on Tony, this hits hard. LMK if you want to start a garden in your off time Tony, we live in the same city :) - Kevin
Garden with Kevin, Tony. Cmon
Haha Kevin, I'm a big skater/fan for 20 years+ myself and I follow both you and Mark for my garden!
Take care Tony, a true legend and inspiration for all skaters!
As for gardening, you defo can't go wrong with having Kevin as a guide or if you need help to properly start a vegi garden! 🥳
@@ryanspivey1819Yeah, c'mon Tony
I feel a nose slide a raised bed achievement coming on.
Tony Hawk's Pro Gardening?
sick that tony hawk came back to this form after his broken femur/hip earlier this year/end of last year.
And he ain't young anymore so his bones take longer to heal than back when he got his first game
Yeah dude some of these tricks blew my mind. I mean, they all did but some had me screaming!
What an absolute mad man. Every trick was a banger. Respect!!!
This dudes made a longer career out of skateboarding than the majority of pro golfers. He's unstoppable!!!!
most pro golfers dont get into skateboarding at all!
@@Jamtron88 Made me laugh dude 🤣
Tony's legacy is etched in stone.
We love you Tony Hawk. You have inspired and continue to inspire generations to do things they never thought possible.
There were many others who left their mark in the history of skateboarding. But not many come close to the significance of tony hawk. As a sport, skateboarding today is what it is because of this man and this man only. The popularity he gave to skateboarding is unmatched. It would be nowhere near without him. He is an inspiration and a true legend. Thank you.
I agree, for me it's Tony and Rodney at the top amd forever will be!
Tony Hawk embodies skateboarding. Live a long life man, we love you 🤙🤙🤙
hats off to the most legendary skater to ever live! thanks for everything tony
tyshawn is more legendary he got soty twice lol
@Wooargh so the guy who single-handedly saved skateboarding in the 90s from going the way of inline by creating the single most important moment in extreme sports history with the 900 at X-Games then releasing a video game that got an entire generation skating and going on a tour that brought the sport(and others) to ppl in person for the first time ever is less important than someone who won SOTY 1 more time than Tony did....... Tyshawn is a great skater but he has a LONG way to go to match either Tony or Rodney Mullen's impact, and at this point I don't think it's possible for anyone to match what either one of them did. 1 saved skating and the other invented nearly every trick done that makes up the fundamentals of street skating, Tyshawn won a couple SOTYs.
Honestly his skating is still incredible despite the fact he has been holding back for years because of injuries and his age. Tony has done so much for skateboarding, it’s great we still have this legend around and in good health. Enjoy retirement, you earned it all.
Absolute legend, inspired millions and made skateboarding a household name.
all I wanted was for Hawk to marry my sister & become my Bro-in-law, since ‘89. seeing McGill, Mountain, Mullen & Cab pulling those 42 year old tricks with their 50+ year old bodies is pure inspiration. the ‘80s-‘90s Bones Brigade is still a sacred assembly to me & will always be. they were my Beatles, as a pre-teen, while dudes like Staab & Ellis were the Stones. I loved it all and I still have the mags, posters & thrashed Powell Peralta completes at my folks’ house. I’d run inside during a house fire to retrieve it all.
On behalf of skaters from the past, present and future; thank you, Tony.
- Fan and fellow skater from Uruguay 🇺🇾
There's not a lot of people that don't know who Tony Hawk is even non skaters! That's the sign of a true legend.
Tony, my daughter is such a big fan of yours, and she is trying to do a skateboarding, and she loves it, and she said she finally found her purpose in life. Thank you
Hopefully gets good at it. I've always wanted to skate but at the same time kind of feared it and stuck to the games instead. Plus I never owned a legitimate skateboard. Just a cheap one from Wal-Mart which was impossible to stand on.
Legends never die. Fly high, Birdman!🤘
Thank you Tony. I can't count how many times you've inspired me to skate. Thank you for being an awesome guy and helping so many people.
rodney mullen epic🤩
I am 50 years old and Tony Hawk was always on my side and still he is .... doing these banger tricks ... I like these old school new school combos most in this video
As legendary as it gets... Thank you, Tony. TRULY the GOAT!
Tony...youre still fucking RAD after all these years. Thanks for everyrhing youve given to show us how important Skateboarding is and should always be.
I remember Stacy Peralta's from Tony Hawk's Underground 1 hehe, awesome game.
Thank you, Tony, for inspiring so many.
I skated with Lance and Cab in about 1988. They came to our little town centre in the midlands after a demo. It was like an alien visitation, like the obelisk moment in 2001. They saw and skated lines we’d never thought of. Such an amazing experience.
this is inspiring. i hope we all will be able to ride at 55 and even into deep old age. it seems that the modern world allows us to do this
Take care of yourself and it will take care of you.
Lance Mountain! One of the few OG skaters you felt like you actually wanted to go hang out with
Thank you Bird Man. I’m still blown away by your last video, a legend till the end.
The Legend still has it! Tony *is* the godfather of skateboarding, it's been a treat to grow up with such an inspirational guy like him around. Keep on pushing Tony!
the throwback section was so cool to see. awesome part man
i can watch this over and over...just drilling down in my memories of now to the birdhouse days and to the bones brigade days and I'm still at awe. "yapple dabble"
Adrenaline athletes from the 90’s were just built different. Tony and Travis are legends and gods amongst men. I could watch Tony skate vert on loop for hours
So rad to see Tony kill'n lip tricks! Really amazes me of those of us over 50 and still skate'n weekly. That we can still skate this hard! Along with learning new tricks! I'm finally landing some kick flips and on lock with backside ollies on ramps!!
Love this man; what an inspiration!
Tony Hawk will be a legend forever. Never will anyone surpass his lasting ability, dedication, and sheer hard work in skating. Sadly kids will never know the feeling of working hard to learn and perform an amazing skating trick because it’s nearly impossible to kick flip grind a PlayStation console.
So much respect for this guy! Absolutely humble dude, kills it on a board, kills it not only for his age but for any age, inventive af, progressed skating in a way that almost every second kid has now enjoyed boarding.
I get so stoked when there's a new tony hawk part out. Its crazy to think that it just happened for the last time. Sick as always.
total legend and great dude
Wow, what a way to start 2024. This guys literally shaped my life! Thank you, Tony! We love you!
Incredible. Absolutely insane. We are lucky 😂❤ Something about the transition from the banger into the credits with light drum and base edm makes me feel insane. Then the note when Rodney lands that freestyle trick...sooo good...thank you for making this 😊
Its so awesome to see what kind of passion Tony and the other still have!
Gonna miss you birdman! Thanks to all the bones ogs in this part! Thanks for 4 decades on busting ass for us! Love you guys!
Saw this on the Thrasher channel when it went up. Happy to watch it again. Glad to witness a modern legendary video part.
how does this only have only 84k views? I know it's gonna have millions eventually but right now it needs WAYYYYYYY More.
There is a reason why he is and ever will be one of the Greatest!
Tony GOAT
His game impacted my life so much that I got into skating because of it. So glad he is from my home town and does what he does for the community. Such an honor to meet him and see him in person. Amazing video to go out on.
Always the legend. Never fails to nail!
Thank you, Tony!
Thanks for inspiring me all these years across the Atlantic since the 80's, I owe you a debt a can never pay...
Thank you tony for pushing this beautiful past time to what it is and really good to see you back at it after your gnarly femur injury!
The tricks, the music, the sounds. So good. Thank you
another blessing from tony hawk himself. thanks so much for everything you have done for skateboarding
All my respect to you Tony, you've been a source of inspiration my entire life! Thank you bro.
Thank you tony, thank you for a wonderful life filled with skating, the music, and the mindset. love it all, thank you so much.
Loved seeing all the old school guys still got it. Such a fun video.
He just keeps learning tricks and coming up with the most creative skating for no reason other than his love of skateboarding. I’ve met Tony Hawk & I’ve met Nyjah Houston. One was a complete diva and one was super humble and really cool. I’ll let you guess which was which.
wow didnt expect it to be that good. tony hawk's bag of tricks on vert is absolutely nuts
watching the way tony floats is magical.
The legend! 👑
All time life inspirer. This makes me both so happy and so sad.
I could watch this all day
Thanks Tony.
100% admiración 🙏🙏
Thank you Tony and guys! Im 50, from the Netherlands and thanks to no other than YOU guys, my life is/ was exiting!! Thank you very much Lance, Tony, Mike, Nicky, Rodney, Stacey, Steve, Kevin, Christian and all you 70ties and 80ties skaters that rocked pools, halfpipes and anything us European kids watched on video and magazines.
Great Tony💪
Legend. Watched this smiling as my son sleeps with his birdhouse tech decks under his bed after discovering his love of skateboarding recently. Thank you for everything Tony!
Thank you for everything Tony! Keep on skating!
Watching Tony continue to do these tricks is an absolute psychedelic trip. The guy is the definition of a legend.
This needs more views! That was an amazing video part.
Thank you Tony, for everything. Every single time you touch a skateboard, you inspire countless others to do the same. A true legend. From the bottom of all our hearts, Thank you Tony Hawk.
40 years later and the prodigies became legends. It's still so much fun watching.
That is just insane skills - and that gap? ... hell no...insane, and that's why he's the best - least injured dude ever makes it even crazier. Da' Goat
Thank you, Tony. If I hadn't had your game on PS1 as a child, I would never have started skateboarding, and I wouldn't have found this lifelong source of happiness.
After all these years, I am and always will be a skateboarder. Thank you, Tony. So much.
Wow! How cool for a founding father of the game to put out a bunch of innovative tricks at this point in his career. Alright kids, the bar is high.
Grew up watching Tony. I know there's 2 entire generations in the comments that can say the same. He inspired all of us to be a little more punk rock and a little less stiff in the knees.
What an absolute down to earth legend
Great to see the old dude still ripping.
rodney mullen was always one my favs. dudes style was so flawless and his almost round 3 was the first skate video i ever bought.... watching this really takes me back to best times of my life as a kid, these guys were icons/legends then and are still killing it!
So frikin dope! Forever a legend!
Even though I’m not a skateboarder, I’ve always enjoyed watching Tony, he wasp creative with his tricks, every once in a while I will watch the video where he did the first 900 in the 1999 X-Games. Thank you Tony for everything you’ve done for Skateboarding.
The video title hits so hard. Damn. Thank you, Tony, for your dedication and your contribution to skateboarding. The last 18 years of my life have been around skateboarding. Rodney and you have been my biggest inspiration in my entire life.
You’re the man Mr Hawk!
I don't know if he truly comprehends just how much he means to any/everyone who ever decided to pick up a skateboard. Thank you Mr. Hawk
Skateboarding would be damn near extinct if it wasn’t for Tony Hawk, the amount of people he influenced to get in to it with the video games and cameos in pop-culture is unbeliveable, most of the best skaters currently in the world first got in to skating due to the games.
Thanks for all the years of sacrifice, pain, and love. We all love you dude and we have been lucky to witness you.
there is no numbers of likes or loves big enough for your commitment to not only the sport but maintaining your body (and sanity). congratulations sir, on an amazing run.
Soooo sick!!!
Honestly inspiring that even after all these years Tony can still innovate, what a legend
It’s amazing how long the bird man has been skating, especially considering all of the big air vert tricks he has done.
Wooooow!!! I love this video with all the legends 🔥💎👑🛹👌🤜
Thank you for all the things you and your friends have done for the scene. I am speechless.
Absolute legend of a man. You deserve SOME rest after 40+ fucking years!
Tony Hawk is the definition of a role model.
Im not a skateboarder, i rode bmx but this guy is an idol. What i admire the most is not what he did in his prime which was mental and took the sport to another level, but what he's doing at his 50s and keeps giving a positive example to others
The birdman! Tony Hawk, bless you bro. Thank you for the encouragement and the love of skateboarding.
After all these years, Tony Hawk is still one of the raddest dudes on the planet! 👍
Tony just turned the very ramp into a freaking street part no kidding crazy bangers.
My heart is happy!! Thank you for posting!!
