I only watched on TV to see if I could see my buddy on TV and record it for everyone here. Watching it and seeing him fail time after time, I thought HE AIN'T NEVER GONNA MAKE IT. At that time everybody thought that was just an impossibility, too difficult for a human to land. Then when he made it I was just STUNNED! Friends of mine were stunned and amazed. In retrospect I kind of wished I did go with him. An incredible day for skateboarding.
@HiartmanDavoed did you know spamming your religious beliefs in youtube comment sections make you look like an annoying asshat? dont do that and god and everyone else will love you.
Best day isn't doing the 900, or having a wife and kid. Best day is doing the 900 with your wife, kid, and all your friends there, and having it all come together in one place at the same time, opening the door for letting you do what you love for the rest of your life.
The street skater in me is ashamed I dissed vert for so many years. Vert is gorgeous and this is PURE VERT! Balls out skating that no-one else can comprehend. I love Tony, he's a true inspiration.
And not everyone had a camera in their pocket. They were all in the moment since there wasn't a distraction in their hands. If you had a camera you spent a lot for it and chances are someone behind you was angling to steal it.
Can you imagine how awesome he felt after landing that...so much work, perseverance, effort, practice, faith, hard work, etc...it all paid off. Can you imagine feeling that elated that what you set out to do you actually did? I can't because I fail at everything lmao
Notice how he landed it on the attempt where the announcer wasn’t yelling during his run. As a former/fellow skater I guarantee someone said something.

CaptainCruch LobsterCock My dude, i was born in 2000 and hell, I wish we could bring back some 90's trends. Back then, kids got outside more, (some) music was better (rap, especially), record stores were more commonplace, JNCO jeans weren't nearly as weird, and Y2K made a lot of money for people in Computer Science (like me!). The only way to bring back old trends is to start with yourself. I wear my Dad's old clothes from the 80's and 90's, I often'll put on some classic jams from before i was born, but the 90s will never happen again and what we can do now is the best we've got.

At that time everybody thought that was just an impossibility, too difficult for a human to land. Then when he made it I was just STUNNED! Friends of mine were stunned and amazed. In retrospect I kind of wished I did go with him. An incredible day for skateboarding.
Epic, thanks for the back story!
I was four. My dad showed me this on a video tape. I began to skate. 18 years later I still do. He was an inspiration.
he's still alive my guy?? also epic about skating for 18 years, nice
I didn't know moogles could skateboard. Learn something new every day.
Imagine waking up and saying, “i feel like landing a 900 today”
How weird to see you here lol
Hello girls
I feel like landing a 737 today
I never had landed a kick flip so I said, "I feel like landing a kickflip" and I never landed it
why are you in every comment section, I see you everywhere
I love how all of the other pro skaters are celebrating with him and happy he landed. True brotherhood.
@HiartmanDavoed The bible = scam
shutup@HiartmanDavoed
Bro they literally gave him the energy to do it . 🙌💯🔥 nothing like seeing the support from fellow skaters
he was 31 when he did this, now hes 52 and did his last Ollie 540. damn who else feels like crying?
He just did another 900 when he was 48 too!
Definitely feels like longer than 20 years ago though :D Which is I guess a good thing
In more recent news, he just did his first kick-flip after breaking his femur in half by failing a McTwist.
@HiartmanDavoed did you know spamming your religious beliefs in youtube comment sections make you look like an annoying asshat? dont do that and god and everyone else will love you.
@HiartmanDavoedyou gotta remember to add the "and believes". It's not whoever is baptized is saved, but whoever is baptized and believes!
I watched this live eating oreos and drinking milk. Those were the days.

I still don't get how people can possibly mix milk and oreos, that's disgusting to me

Best day isn't doing the 900, or having a wife and kid. Best day is doing the 900 with your wife, kid, and all your friends there, and having it all come together in one place at the same time, opening the door for letting you do what you love for the rest of your life.
Truly poetic
Love this 🙏🏾
This!
Yesss thank you

The street skater in me is ashamed I dissed vert for so many years.
Vert is gorgeous and this is PURE VERT! Balls out skating that no-one else can comprehend.
I love Tony, he's a true inspiration.
Has a wife and baby. Best day of his life: landing the 900.
But its true. 🤔
Anyone can have a kid or a wife. Go blast a 900 on a ramp like that.
isn't he on like his 4th wife now?
@@FalconFlyer75 indeed.

Life lesson, even the best don't get it at the first time, it's not how many times you fall it's how many times you get back up
Ew
This was something I always remember from watching it live. To this day, I’m glad ESPN let it happened and aired the entire thing.
well, technically its also about how many times you fall
Thanks dad

Your motivational sentence for today: They are cheering not because hr did it, but because he kept on trying!!!
I thought the motivational sentence would be: "TONY HAWK 900, 900 TONY 900 HAWK! 900!"

Back when there was no Red Bull sponsoring all kind of sports.
And not everyone had a camera in their pocket. They were all in the moment since there wasn't a distraction in their hands.
If you had a camera you spent a lot for it and chances are someone behind you was angling to steal it.

Tony didn't need Red Bull to give him wings.
Good times...

Can you imagine how awesome he felt after landing that...so much work, perseverance, effort, practice, faith, hard work, etc...it all paid off. Can you imagine feeling that elated that what you set out to do you actually did? I can't because I fail at everything lmao
lets just keep it at hard work and not faith bullshit. believing something's gonna happen isnt gonna make it so.

I remember watching this live when I was 6 years old and am now in my 30s. Crazy.
Notice how he landed it on the attempt where the announcer wasn’t yelling during his run. As a former/fellow skater I guarantee someone said something.
The announcer reminds me of the carnival clown you dunk in water on the baseball throwing game
Adrenaline is so intense during this I’m pretty sure everyone and everything was drowned out in his mind and he was 1000% focused on this one trick. I think it’s just a coincidence that happened!
It’s so weird because in old videos like this everybody’s mall grabbing and it’s not a big deal but now it’s like the biggest deal ever

The amount of pressure must've been surreal. So happy he managed! Holy shit.

Tony Hawk, thank you for inspiring so many of us, we love skateboarding so much, and you inspire us by your philanthropy and activities around the sport.❤
We should bring back all of the trends from the late 90's for just a month like Im not asking for a whole year I just wanna relive my teenhood one last time.
