I don’t understand how people can look at this and NOT realize it’s Art. He’s literally re-creating, visual patterns based on physics! That are absolutely stunning! People are silly.
Its definitely art, but if I took a dump and rubbed it on a canvas, stuck done twigs and leaves on it, that would be art too. Everything can be considered "art". Some artists are more talented than others and actually do something that not 99% of the population can do
I've never done this before but I'm pretty sure if you start the bucket by letting go with momentum away from the center it won't have that first wobbly line
What about doing the exact same painting configurations you've been doing and adding a musical component (i.e. canvas sitting on a speaker of some sort)? Wave patterns and pendulum swings is basically ballroom dancing and we've all seen how passionate some of that can get
The comments on these videos are so frustrating "oh its so easy to do this, this takes no talent" then let me see you do it. This artist literally engineers his paintings so they turn out a certain way-- that takes a lot of knowledge and skill.
@@ronaldraygun2639so you only listen to technical death metal and progressive jazz since those genres of music take lots of skill right? It’s a hell of a lot easier to swing a paint can over a canvas than to actually draw but it’s still art
Can you make a video on how you prep your can. Hole size air flow ect. And a quick tip on stopping the paint once you’re done. I am trying to make some of these and the first one, the hole was too big and cause splash. The second one hole to small and caused drips. Hey just an idea, maybe grab the can with another bucket to stop the dripping right when you want to. The idea of some erratic drips, although I can’t see them from my screen, seems to take away from the precision of the lines

As long as that piece of "art" is sold for the price of the paint and parts to make the background thats fine. Very little extra could be charged for the time taken and "creativity" as there is nothing to stop anyone commenting making the exact same thing.
It’s physics, he should’ve listened in school, maybe he would understand that anything swinging from a solid point follows these similar paths.. it’s called a “pendulum swing” it’s been knows for centuries.. this mofo thinks he’s just discovered this motion, that’s why he’s calling it a technique lol.. it’s a law not a technique hahah
Does anyone ever buy these? This is easily done at home. I find it hard to believe that people pay for these, not that this is bad, its great. Its just that theres so many people doing it.
It’s not even a technique, it’s physics, he’s letting a bucket swing from a solid point so all the bucket is doing is following it’s perpetual motion until it stops, anyone could do what he’s doing..
The fact of the matter is that you could recreate any artwork ever made if you put in enough effort. Art isn't like sports where there's a limiting factor called genetics. Does recreating the Mona Lisa make you a good artist? It would certainly prove you're a good painter, but is this what art is about? Technical proficiency? A printer could recreate any painting much better than a human, but does this make the printer a good artist? Really, art is not about technical skills at all, it certainly helps one advance the complexity of their work, but the reality of art is simply the creation of something new. Sure, you could absolutely recreate the set up in this video and make your own paint pendulum, there's less of a barrier to entry skillwise than recreating a grand painting, but what makes this art is not the complexity or skill of it, it's the idea. It might seem obvious to you now how easy it would be, but before you had not even the idea to attempt it. He did, and he went through with it, that's art.
Some of us are old enough to remember the old Microsoft screen savers that did the exact same thing. Some of us are also just not that impressed by periodic motion. It's math. He's putting a graphing calculator on canvas. Where is the expression? Where is the individuality and uniqueness? He's doing what anyone with paint, twine and gravity can do. The reason why no one else is doing it is because no one thought there would be such a large crowd of dummies to gobble it up. This man's biggest achievement is correctly estimating the magnitude of idiocy present in modern society. And I'm part of it...commenting on a RUclips Short like my opinion matters while i take a dump....sigh. At least the dump was satisfying.
Who said art needs meaning or expression, individuality? It's art. No art is individual, everything is inspired by something if you look far enough into an artist's past. The stinkers that say art needs to be anything just don't really know what art is. So what if it's also math? It's nice seeing how the patterns will come out. I'm not a mathematician so I don't know, but even if I were and could perfectly guess what it would look like, it's still a visual representation of whatever. He clearly enjoys doing it. I'd consider myself an artist and nothing I do has any meaning, expression, or skill. I'm doing what any idiot with a pencil and fineliner can do. And I'd argue that he does have a skill most other people don't because it does take an understanding of how everything will fall to be able to have some control. It's abstract art... It ain't that offensive. I've seen canvases full of black paint and still found them interesting to look at because of subtle changes in texture. There's something for everyone. He's clearly just having fun experimenting. If I had a garage and paint, and a little bit of string I'd be trying this out too. You're free to not like it, of course. I'd personally not buy any of his stuff since it isn't my taste, but just because it doesn't fit your definition of art doesn't mean it can't be art. I could shat on a piece of paper and smear it around into a flower and say it's art. I've seen much worse on RUclips than a dude having some fun with paint...and this isn't a modern society problem. Show anyone the swirly paint man and they'll enjoy the brain tingles it causes. Finding joy in simple things is nice.

Remember the joke about the difference between an installation and a perfomancy: if you first put shit on the door and then ring the bell, it's an installation, but if you ring the bell and then put shit on the door, it's a perfomancy. The age is sick with conceptualism. There is a concept, but there is no art.
Art is art... Art no need to be deep. Art itself can be anything, it doesn't need meaning nor does it need a concept. The only problem with abstract art is when old rich guys use it for fraud, or monetise it for disgusting amounts. Some dude making paint swirls that make my brain fuzzy is still art. Monetising it is also fine, but it's when art is worth less than the person who paints it that becomes the problem. The beauty of RUclips shorts is you can just not engage and the content will leave, this specifically isn't shoved into your face......And the beauty of book shops is you can just not buy the books you don't like??? What a pathetic way to label yourself an artist.
Hey A.I. drop a beat if you know what I mean, takes credit
Yeah, it reminds me of the Spirograph set I used to play with from the late ‘60’s, early ‘70’s.
I had this when I was a kid in the 70's, it was called a Spirograph set, except we used pencils.
I don't know why people criticize this, it looks amazing!
This man has been doing this for SO long and yet never once considered just using fucking cardboard to easily stop the paint it’s insane
Lol hey maybe he'll see this and have the same reaction I did, "well son of a bitch, why didn't I think of that..."
Cardboard on the floor?
Beutifull
@@Coneman3 no. Hold cardboard and then sliding it under the paint right when he wants it to stop
That's.... actually really clever lol 😅

When I was a kid, we had something called spiral graph. You could do that on paper with a pencil.
What about doing the exact same painting configurations you've been doing and adding a musical component (i.e. canvas sitting on a speaker of some sort)? Wave patterns and pendulum swings is basically ballroom dancing and we've all seen how passionate some of that can get
You should do an experiment with loud music or with music bowls. See if musical vibration effects the art 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
The gravity and the bucket is the real artist
The motion of the earth going through space has much to do with the perfectly spaced lines as the can rotates around the canvas.
not gonna lie, your arts are amazing!
He definitely had a Spirograph as a kid
💯
I LOVE THESE!
Wait til your top can is already swinging then start the lower pendulum going in the direction after you took your step over the corner rope
The floor looks amazing as a canvas
So awesome

Have you ever tried layering paint in the can so the line changes colors as it swings across the canvas?
Have stacked different colors of paint so the paint color changes with one swing?
use a piece of cardboard, so you dont accidentally mess up the painting.
You should attach another bucket to this bucket and see what it draws.
"...all I'm doing here..."
Thanks for explaining swinging a bucket of paint with a hole in it over a painted surface.
