We have been using the tiny zip ties for more than a dozen years. They work the best and help save on loosing worms as thee worm and all slides up the line most of the time.
A 100 pack of O-rings are less than $2 on Temu. You can get them in 6mm and 7mm. For wacky rigging, you really want your hook perpendicular to the worm. With O-rings you do that by using two O-rings, crossing them over, and putting the hook under where they cross. No need to put the hook into the worm.
Awesome video some great info our Walmart has reusable cable/ zip ties that work awesome if you want to change size or color of senko’s you just undo tie change out bait and redo tie. You can get about 30 uses out of one
I bought a pack of black hair ties, they work good but sometimes just wacky hook the worm itself. Downside is after a couple fish you have to replace the worm.
Its strange what other people can think of. I have several bags of different sized 100/$1 cable ties around here from eBay and I never once thought of using them for fishing. I use them to tie my FF cable down. Even to keep my rods tied down on long trips so they don't flop around and make a racket all the way there! But I've never used them IN the water! Not only is this a great idea, I don't even have to go shopping!!!
I like the zip tie idea and will try that next time I go out Love the wacky worm but I am going through a lot of o rings tried the shrink tube not much better Pickerel are the big culprit s foe stealing worms
I like using shrink tubing that electronic hobbyists use to insulate bare conductors on splices and terminal connectors. Keep a cigarette lighter in your tackle box to make a slice of this to make a tight fit.
All you have to do is get a normal pair of needle nose pliers and put on your o-ring on the tip of it then expand and place it on the worm wherever you want
The silicone straw idea and the ziptie ideas are good, but you can't make the "X" and hook the bait perpendicularly, which is how a lot of people rig their wacky setup.
I just use 20 lb test line scrap. Maybe more hassle to tie but not really. I loop it 4 times crisscross and tie. I hook it like you do using 2 o-rings. Didn’t do the math but has to be a fraction of a penny each rig.

What about twist ties? I haven’t tried them but it seems logical they would work. They cost nothing if you save them from products like bread you have already bought.
There were a lot of folks who had the same ideas. You can review the comments to see where they came from (over 130). I need to keep track of multiples better in the future to do just this and at least mention the specific folks in the description. Thanks for that push.
The zip tie option is amazing. I can use the zip tie on any worm regardless of the thickness
Can you use them and have your hook perpendicular to the worm? That's pretty important for wacky rigging.
I’ve been using the packages of rubber bands left over from my son’s braces. There pretty tough and all I had to do was pay for braces. Wait.... NM.
lol! I've been there!
The store was out of pony bands, but I happened to have small zip ties. Love this video. There's more than one way to skin a cat!
Great information. I can't wait to try them out. Thanks for the great information.
You bet!

Awesome tips. Imagine get me some zip ties and try it out. Thanks
If your using Yamamoto brand senkos then I don't think you care about cost, but Heat shrink tubing makes a good oring alternative.
A few folks have recommended heat shrink. I need to look at that. thanks

Good tips and comments. But the o- ring companies are going to be pissed.

Interesting idea!
Excellent video! Off to Dollar Tree! Would it be possible to credit those who gave you ideas?

@@KayakhacksFishing That's a lot of replies! Awesome
How about 3/8” clear plastic tubing from hardware store?
Sure!
The small black hair rubber bands that look like o rings from the dollar store should do. I'll test this theory out tomorrow.
Let me know!
I just got some of those today, how have they worked?
Metal wire or cable that's my idea
That's what she said.
What about rubber band
Those work. Here is the video on using Dollar Store bands - ruclips.net/video/JBMrGg85H6M/видео.html
I dunno. I got lots of O rings off Amazon for about what I spend at McDonalds for the day.
Use 'em up!
Lay off the McKee Dee's too!! We fisherman need to watch our cholesterol.👍👍👍
Orthodontic rubber bands
Good tip! Thanks
We're seriously splitting hairs over .25 of a cent? What about a $2 roll of electrical tape? Gets you 978 rigs and equates to
.0021 cents per rig
lol! Even better!
The actual rings are cheap as hell...
True
