    Nice tip! I've been wacky rigging like this for some time. I bought 50' of clear heat shrink wrap on Amazon for about $10. I cut off a small piece, slide it over the worm, heat it up with a lighter and it's good to go. I've got a bunch of worms all pre- rigged so if I want to change worms or if my worm is damaged after catching several fish, I just swap it out for another one. I also save the damaged worms and will use the better half for Ned rigging. Very effective and cheap!

      @@HellaBass I’m glad that the tubes work better for you. I’ve just seen several guys saying that their worms don’t last too long using o-rings. My experience has been different, so it just makes me curious as to what the difference might be. Fishing style, o-ring brand, worm brand, or something else? Not knocking your method at all, it just makes me curious is all.

    • @HellaBass

      Excellent question, not sure what combination of variables make the O-ring awesome for one angler and others struggle to catch 2 fish per worm.

      I can usually get 4 or 5 if I'm not swinging super hard but I often have issues holding back. I like to really lay into it. Doing that gets me torn out frequently. Especially if the fish short strikes me or the hook doesn't hit it's mark.

    Go to an auto parts store and buy Shrink wrap for electric wiring, cut it in 1/8 to 1/4” peace’s slip it over the dingers put your hook in/through it and the bait. The dinger or what ever bait will last for many more fish, I’ve used the same sit-up all day. If the shrink wrap is to big for say a trick worm just take a lighter and heat the wrap lightly. Try it you be dingers ahead.

    The wacky rig has really become a go to for me. I typically use 2 o-rings crossed over to make an x. The hook then goes under the crossover point of the o-rings so it sits perpendicular to the worm. I usually get 3 or more fish per worm, even with a senko, which are notoriously fragile. I’ll take a look at the Arsenal tool and sleeves and may give them a try. Looks pretty simple. All comes down to $ at the end of the day. Thanks for the tip.

    • @HellaBass
      @HellaBass  3 года назад

      Making a saddle out of 2 rings is a good option too, just requires a bit more precision on the front end. Probably similar results but the bands might be a bit faster to rig. Love to hear what you think when you try it.

    When I rig my wacky rigs, I use two rubber bands, and by doing that I come away with an X. I’ve lost way less senkos that way. Plus my worm will fly up my line instead, and I’ve managed to catch around 4-6 bass on the same worm.

    I used to use o rings all the time and I still do for pond fishing, but I noticed just hooking it straight through got more bites and had a better hookup ratio. So hooking through the worm with the tubes can still make it durable? Would it be more durable to just skin hook the tube itself? Might look into these. There are also o rings that come in a saddle design to avoid hooking directly, but X cross with 2 orings work well too.
    Been using o rings forever, so I might want to give this a try.

      Lance - Great Questions. No issue with loss of action in my opinion, seem to get just as many bites with the tube shields. I like the Neko anytime I am fishing a little deeper, its also a good option when you are searching for fish and you need to cover more water. Also, if everyone is throwing a weightless around you, it can show the fish something different. One April I was throwing a light neko shallow on Guntersville & it was like the fish had never seen it before & had a banner day when people around me couldn't get bite.

    Until I saw how you rigged the wacky worm/neko rig, I'd shied away from using it because all I saw was a waste of bait. I know it gets smallies, and the Musselshell River is an ideal stream for it. A lot of small fish, though, really tear up this presentation before I'd get a 'keeper' sized one. I'll be havin one of those tools, lad.

  • @markblackstad8705
    @markblackstad8705 3 года назад

    Cool system Rich. I have gone almost exclusively to Zman elaztech products for Neko rigging (bang stickz, zinkers, their finesse and fattyz worms etc.) Those things never tear and last forever. I think they have a better action for Neko rigging and you can hook them any way or place you want with no extra gizmos. Straight wacky they don't have the shimmy of a senko or dinger though. I may check out your system for that application. I mostly Neko now but some times the straight wacky can be the ticket.

    • @HellaBass
      @HellaBass  3 года назад

      Elaztech is it's own beast for sure, definitely no need for bands on those, but agree this still has a place for straight wacky where you want that heavy salt and faster rate of fall

      @@HellaBass OOps. Now RUclips lost my original response. Anyways, I was commenting that the Zinkerz have salt but still don't shimmy like senkos or dingers even with a weighted hook or jig head to speed them up on a standard wacky rig. You should give the Zman stuff a shot with Neko though if you haven't already. They really "back slide" well and the "bouncyness" of the elastech gives it a really lively and unique action IMO. I did well last year with the bang stickz with a heavier 1/8 or even heavier nail weight on a light baitcast (braid to flouro) set up. You can pitch them and they fall faster and you can work them more aggressively. At times it drives them nuts! BTW, I also saw Feider just picked up Zman and Gussy has been with them for a while. It was great fun to see Gussy win this past weekend! You should try to get him on with you soon after his big win.
