Nice tip! I've been wacky rigging like this for some time. I bought 50' of clear heat shrink wrap on Amazon for about $10. I cut off a small piece, slide it over the worm, heat it up with a lighter and it's good to go. I've got a bunch of worms all pre- rigged so if I want to change worms or if my worm is damaged after catching several fish, I just swap it out for another one. I also save the damaged worms and will use the better half for Ned rigging. Very effective and cheap!
Honestly, I regularly catch 7-10 fish on one worm while wacky rigging with o-rings. 🤷🏻♂️
Dude if the o-rings are working for you, don't fix it, but the Tubes are much better for me. Thnx for the comment!
@@HellaBass I’m glad that the tubes work better for you. I’ve just seen several guys saying that their worms don’t last too long using o-rings. My experience has been different, so it just makes me curious as to what the difference might be. Fishing style, o-ring brand, worm brand, or something else? Not knocking your method at all, it just makes me curious is all.
Excellent question, not sure what combination of variables make the O-ring awesome for one angler and others struggle to catch 2 fish per worm.
I can usually get 4 or 5 if I'm not swinging super hard but I often have issues holding back. I like to really lay into it. Doing that gets me torn out frequently. Especially if the fish short strikes me or the hook doesn't hit it's mark.
I get a few with some brands using o rings but when I use googans stick worms I get one fish per worm
Go to an auto parts store and buy Shrink wrap for electric wiring, cut it in 1/8 to 1/4” peace’s slip it over the dingers put your hook in/through it and the bait. The dinger or what ever bait will last for many more fish, I’ve used the same sit-up all day. If the shrink wrap is to big for say a trick worm just take a lighter and heat the wrap lightly. Try it you be dingers ahead.
Good tips, I work in a baitshop so every tip I can give my customers helps them keep coming back for more. Some old timers thought it was amazing when I told them you can screw a woodscrew into one end of the wacky worms to get some extra action. I need these wider rings for sale in our store.
Thanks!!!
Wood screw makes a quick make shift Neko weight for sure
Just go to Arsenalfishing.com and send them a note, let them know HellaBass sent you!
Thank you for this! I caught my very first bass (followed by six more!!!!) today and now it’s all I wanna do haha
Rock on! That is awesome to here Jaci!
The wacky rig has really become a go to for me. I typically use 2 o-rings crossed over to make an x. The hook then goes under the crossover point of the o-rings so it sits perpendicular to the worm. I usually get 3 or more fish per worm, even with a senko, which are notoriously fragile. I’ll take a look at the Arsenal tool and sleeves and may give them a try. Looks pretty simple. All comes down to $ at the end of the day. Thanks for the tip.
Making a saddle out of 2 rings is a good option too, just requires a bit more precision on the front end. Probably similar results but the bands might be a bit faster to rig. Love to hear what you think when you try it.
Crazy how earlier tonight we had a quick discussion on a set-up and this pops up a couple hours later. Awesome video, good job Rich. Thanks for the help earlier.
No problem, for some reason upload took forever tonight, yeah this is the deal for wacky rigging 🤘
When I rig my wacky rigs, I use two rubber bands, and by doing that I come away with an X. I’ve lost way less senkos that way. Plus my worm will fly up my line instead, and I’ve managed to catch around 4-6 bass on the same worm.
That works as well, I think you will find these tubes to be even more durable
I don’t use wacky rigging much because I dont see how you can possibly get the exposed hook through slop, weeds, milfoil, etc. ????? Most of my fishing right now is from docks unfortunately. So constantly battling the above mentioned. So always just TX rig my Senkos.
@@nickwojtow6787 You can get through that stuff. Don’t be afraid to use it in conditions like that. Obviously if it’s too dense, you don’t do it. When I use my use my wacky rig, I’m always skipping it across the water. Skipping baits across the water under the docks is prefect!
@@pens87668
Ok, I’ll have to use it more. 👍
Good video Rich, some juice definitely given. And thanks for high lighting my personal fav the diawa fat neko....killr, can't keep anything quiet!
I apologized for that in the video 😉
I pulled the trigger on these late fall last year and haven't been able use them yet. I will try them out this spring.
Awesome, look forward to your feedback
I used to use o rings all the time and I still do for pond fishing, but I noticed just hooking it straight through got more bites and had a better hookup ratio. So for tournament fishing I just bite the bullet and pay for the senkos, which isnt really that bad, especially if you are catching fish. This method definitely is interesting though and I will have to try it out
If you like hooking straight through the worm, I think you will like these tube shields
I agree. Used to use them, and I didn’t get as many bites. Went back to just booking directly through worm and had better results
I also just hook straight through the worm myself and find it to do a tid bit better
@@anthonygarza393 What do you guys mean by hook straight through the worm? Do you mean like the texas rig style? Or just the wacky rig style without the o ring?
Wacky style straight thru worm hook perpendicular to bait
I've seen this method used by some famous Angler, pretty sure there's a video on RUclips. The O rings work for me and I can get quite a few bites on one worm. I definitely agree that this method would work best and give you the biggest advantage. Good video.
Thnx Bud
Great product thanks. I am still looking for those Stinko worms!?
you talking about these??? sovrn.co/44sqp6d
My favorite wacky rig work is the fluorescent pink sinko tube worms they are about 6 inches long amd they slay in these small oklahoma army core lakes!
Good info
Cool video man thanks. Oh and you’ve probably tried this already but when using the O-rings, use 2 rings and overlap them to where they make an X, then put the hook through the middle of the X.
Yep, for sure, I prefer the tubes over the double o rings seems quicker, cleaner and easier on baits for me. Thnx for the feedback
Caught 3 on one worm today. I was very happy!
Well done
I love the Bass Pro Stik O. I've seen underwater videos comparing it to the Senko and it is very close in action.
Heard good things about Bass Pro version, haven't tried them myself. How is the durability on the Stik O?
@@HellaBass It has good durability in my opinion. I always wacky rig with the o-ring and can catch about 4 to 5 fish before changing worms
@@philschneider3747 very cool, wonder how many you could catch with a tube / band.....
Tried this for the first time today. I’m sold! Caught 20 bass in 4 hours
Great to hear!
Cool video, might have to give that system a try. To me the biggest issue is all the blown up stick baits on the bottom of the lakes I fish!! Those things are everywhere😫. I have a large jug full of the ones I’ve been able to scoop up. If we could cut down on that litter I’d definitely fish stick baits more!!
For sure, people need to stop throwing used plastics in the water. Some of them of them do fly off during the fight, but I think that's the minority. But bands like these keep less accidental baits from ending up in the lake too 😉
Great video Rich! Those things can save you a ton of cash!
Thanks For The video !! Can't wait to try this !! Will definitely let you know how it worked out for me. Be Safe and Keep Casting !
Awesome, good luck Ellis, can't wait to hear how it goes!
Good info. Rich Thanks🎣
Right on Bob
Cool idea...did not know bout that.....appreciate the tip.
NP Garry, definitely worth a look
Hook my fish in the top of the mouth when the hook is in line with the head and tail. When I hook a senko perpendicular it usually ends up in the corner of the fishes mouth. Something I have noticed.
Finding what works for you & your mechanics is super important
Very helpful thank you for thr video and tips
glad it was helpful
Super video! I applauded for $2.00 👏
Yay! Thank you! This is my first ever applause! Much appreciated!
@@HellaBass lol too funny because that's the first time I've ever done it!
🎉🎉🎉🎉
I gave u a standing ovation 😂🙏
Great video bro, do you find the wacky rig to be more effective in the deep or the shallows?
For me, it is mostly a shallow deal, but will weight one end & fish a neko from time to time as well
So hooking through the worm with the tubes can still make it durable? Would it be more durable to just skin hook the tube itself? Might look into these. There are also o rings that come in a saddle design to avoid hooking directly, but X cross with 2 orings work well too.
Been using o rings forever, so I might want to give this a try.
For me personally, I feel like I get best performance & durability hooking through worm & tube at same time. But it does give you options to try multiple configurations. Th e VMC crossovers seem nice, but are much more expensive.
Rich God Bless You man do you ever sleep ?? My goodness you're the busiest person I've ever seen !! But I do thank ya for all the great info and all you do for many of us !!! #beathellabass #rapalabassmasterfantasyfishing #gonnatakeover80lbsnextevent
Thnx for the kind words David, appreciate your support. How much sleep does a guy really need.
You did mention the band's but you should tell more about the tool and bands from the video it looks like the tool is making part of the worm into a band
VMC crossover rings are my favorite
work good, but pricey
Use 2 o-rings, force one to go over the other, and then when you put your hook under them the hook will be perpendicular to the worm and not parallel to it. Never lose a fish again :-)
The single Arsenal band seems easier and quicker than double Orings for me. But I have heard from several anglers that like the double o rings
just getting into the senko fishing technique. i tried this double o-ring strategy and it worked. Also just ordered some of the silicone bands to try them out.
Awesome, leave a comment and let me k ow after you get to try them
also my biggest problem not using a o ring is the worm will come off when throwing out sometimes and you will have a backlash from hell.
also a good point, the Arsenal tubes will definitely eliminate that problem
What hooks are you using ? Does it make a difference ?
I like a #1 VMC Weedless Neko - omnia.direct/WeedlessNeko
Best hooks ups for me
Great video brother. Awesome tips

Me making my own senkos..stonks 📈
I have dabbled with making my own stick baits as well - ruclips.net/video/6F_M1qBHDGY/видео.html
Imma sound really cheap and lazy but I'll tape it Haven't had it come off at all or it getting stuck in a weird position just saying what works for me.
That's all that counts Daniel
Thanks man! This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm buying the arsenal rigging kit. However, it says "Sorry, this coupon is not applicable to selected products" with your hellabas15. Just wanted to make sure you were getting credit for advertising their stuff! Thanks again!
You tried the code at Arsenalfishing.com?
@HellaBass yep! I bought the whole kit but I got that error both times I put your code in. Appreciate the recommendation though!
@TimeLord1111 thnx for the info, enjoy the kit!
if your worm slides up the line multiple times, you can take a lighter and melt the middle back to a solid unit pretty easily (before it rips in half). I will go between 2 worms and when one is cooling off the other is on my line.
very resourceful
I use 2 O rings cross them and that way your hook is not lined up with the worm. This is the best way to rig the wacky
If it works for you, that's all that matters
Great advice but if you’re interested check out the VMC crossover ring I started using these last season and definitely made a huge difference Fishing a wacky rig. Even my children can catch multiple fish using one stick baitAnd fish for hours.
From what I can tell, the Arsenal bands & the VMC bands both extend life of a stick worm equally, but the Arsenal bands are 12 cents each and the VMC rings are 45 cents each and I like that the Arsenal bands are a bit less bulky in my eye, both good products, Arsenal bands are just a bit more economical
That’s cool. Also heat shrink works.
For sure, I just don't like having to rely on a lighter in the boat when I need it
@@HellaBass I usually fix up them up before hand, but another solution is torch lighters.
Makes sense if you are disciplined to make them up ahead of time, but for me, I don't want to rely on a heat source in the boat during a tournament
@@HellaBass haha. I get that. I try to do as much before I get on the water as I can. But you don’t need it to shrink, once the hook is through it.
Rich, I see two band widths, 4mm and 8mm...what do you prefer for a 5" Senko?
Peter - sorry for the delay, I like the 7MM or 8MM bands for a normal senko or 5" stick worm
Thanks for this information, I will order some Arsenal wacky sleeves and tool from TW….do you think it matters if you use the clear sleeves on all stick worm colors? TW only sells the clear
I am a little concerned with just using the clear on darker colors but I don’t want to deal with Paypal on Arsenal site
I only use the clear bands, it blends with whatever worm you out it on
Thanks for the reply! I really appreciate it, I ordered the clear arsenal bands and the tool and will use them on all colors
thanks for sacrificing a worm for the vid haha , appreciate the tip , will apply
Any time! I got Dinger for Days! Got several 50 packs!

Sounds like a cool rig
Seems beet similar...just the work has a cavity causing it to float with some different action apparently...worth a shot..
Thanks for the helpful videos...
Great video, Bass Pro Shop sinko. Houdini color
Heard good things about the Sinko, haven't tried them myself
Its not only about the band or the ring. Alot of brands of stickbaits is weak. My favorite is x zone true zenter stick 5 inch. some brand brake of where the o ring is placed.
Very true, Yamamoto are way softer than most, but the band will hold softer baits better than a ring 😉

Have you had any loss of action with the rings??? I'd rig it same way u do if I use them... And any particular time u like neko or wacky more than the other?? Thanks again for the tip Rich! Can't wait for your tournament videos
Lance - Great Questions. No issue with loss of action in my opinion, seem to get just as many bites with the tube shields. I like the Neko anytime I am fishing a little deeper, its also a good option when you are searching for fish and you need to cover more water. Also, if everyone is throwing a weightless around you, it can show the fish something different. One April I was throwing a light neko shallow on Guntersville & it was like the fish had never seen it before & had a banner day when people around me couldn't get bite.
Oh & yes, can't wait for tourney vids, if everything goes right, I will have some fishing vids back on open water in a week or two 🤘
@@HellaBass Awesome thank you seriously... Water in mid 50s when u start throwing it?? And can't wait til u make a Pro tour, if that's what you want of course. If ya do let us know, if you need help maybe we can work out a sponsorship deal.. Thanks again
Thnx bud, I hope to get mad at them again in a few years when my kids are a bit older. I'd say upper 50s as they get close to spawn is when that deal picks up
I will definitely be trying out those tube rings to save $. I couldn't agree with you more about not wacky rigging soft stick worms pependicular. Like you said in the viseo, often the plastic can ball up on you when a fish bites. I think rigging it horizontal is way more effective. Thanks for sharing Rich, those were great tips! 👏👍
I was fishing one day I used a hair tie as an o ring and I caught 10 bass in 1 hour using that rig
Very resourceful
Xzone Fat Finesse Worm has always been killer for me last 2 years. But I do have a bag or two of those worms you speck of lol
I've seen those recently, they look good, what's some of your favorite colors if I pick some up?
@@HellaBass Hands down the "309" color and your black & blues and Green Pumpkin black flake. But that 309 color is special
Thnx for that Nugget, watch for some 309 in on the water vids this summer ;)
I use heat shrink! My worms last a lot of the day of fishing but that's my method
Finding what works for you is all that matters. FISH ON!
Great bait saver
Also streech your worm before riggimg to bring out thr scent. This attracts the fiish.
brings out the salt for sure, makes it a bit softer, all more reason to pair that stretch out worm with a clear wacky band to extend its life

Do they make clear shrink tubing?
@@HellaBass yup. I buy it on amazon. 3/8" fits most stickbaits.
@@huntinnfishinoutdoors5664 good to know
Better than the o-ring but still not as good as heat shrink tubing. The hs tubing is more versatile when using different diameter size worms like trick worms, etc. Thanks for sharing your technique.
They have several diameter tubes for trick worms etc, thanks for feedback
@@HellaBass Good to know. This hs tubing can be used from 3/8" diameter down to near 1/8" dia. depending on how much you heat it. smile.amazon.com/dp/B01BZE0PR2/?coliid=IF15WIQEPIH5X&colid=22T0131E0S1TR&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Until I saw how you rigged the wacky worm/neko rig, I'd shied away from using it because all I saw was a waste of bait. I know it gets smallies, and the Musselshell River is an ideal stream for it. A lot of small fish, though, really tear up this presentation before I'd get a 'keeper' sized one. I'll be havin one of those tools, lad.
Awesome Rodger 👊
Cool system Rich. I have gone almost exclusively to Zman elaztech products for Neko rigging (bang stickz, zinkers, their finesse and fattyz worms etc.) Those things never tear and last forever. I think they have a better action for Neko rigging and you can hook them any way or place you want with no extra gizmos. Straight wacky they don't have the shimmy of a senko or dinger though. I may check out your system for that application. I mostly Neko now but some times the straight wacky can be the ticket.
Elaztech is it's own beast for sure, definitely no need for bands on those, but agree this still has a place for straight wacky where you want that heavy salt and faster rate of fall
Sorry, I mis-typed something in my response. The nail weight was 1/8 or a bit heavier. I have never seen a 1/4 oz. one LOL!
Got it
@@HellaBass OOps. Now RUclips lost my original response. Anyways, I was commenting that the Zinkerz have salt but still don't shimmy like senkos or dingers even with a weighted hook or jig head to speed them up on a standard wacky rig. You should give the Zman stuff a shot with Neko though if you haven't already. They really "back slide" well and the "bouncyness" of the elastech gives it a really lively and unique action IMO. I did well last year with the bang stickz with a heavier 1/8 or even heavier nail weight on a light baitcast (braid to flouro) set up. You can pitch them and they fall faster and you can work them more aggressively. At times it drives them nuts! BTW, I also saw Feider just picked up Zman and Gussy has been with them for a while. It was great fun to see Gussy win this past weekend! You should try to get him on with you soon after his big win.
I have used the Hula Stick some for neko

Can't you actually just wrap clear tape around the middle a couple of times and it would have the same purpose as the band?
You can definitely try it, would depend on the tape and if it would stick to the oils on the worms and hold up soaked in water
@@HellaBass maybe melting it to the worm? Idk I'm very experimental lol
@@Xplzit try it out and let me know how it goes in the comments
Ok so how do you fish wacky rigged with tons of weeds and seaweed everywhere
if there is a ton of weeds, wacky rigs are pretty much relegated to edges & holes in the grass. In really thick grass I prefer TX rigs.
VMC crossover rings + pliers
Have not tested them, have you used them yet?
@@HellaBass Just got them from BPS, love them so far. Mustad's Wacky/Neko rig kit is good, too
Just think about the tons of plastic being directly dumped in waters from all these soft plastic lures. They don't degrade? 20-30 year old plastic grubs I have sure haven't.
That is very true, the bands do a nice job from keeping them from falling into the lakes, also I like to recycle my old baits like this - ruclips.net/video/6F_M1qBHDGY/видео.html

I feel like the senko is worth the cash if your running it traditionally . But the wacky rigs are better with the other brands the rig is so irratic the fish don’t care about salt it moves good
