Royal Vauxhall Tavern: LGBT seek protection - BBC London News

The 'Royal Vauxhall Tavern' in south London is already Grade 2 listed. But a campaign group wants it to be the first in the country to obtain special status for a pub on the grounds of its contribution to the LGBT community. As Thomas Magill reports.

RVT is a beautiful building. It's in an area where old buildings like the RVT are being demolished at a frightening rate to make way for luxury flats for the global super rich & property speculation. London's architectural history is rapidly being demolished. It deserves to have its LGBT history acknowledged, and to remain a pub, nightclub, social centre.

When I lived in London in 1989, I was taken to that pub by my former boyfriend and had a great fun night, because of that I returned weeks afterwards to have the same experience I had the first time and it was even better
