@The Squad Tattoos can be covered. Yes he admits to using drugs but he shows up and nails it, he's not a liability like Lindsey Lohan. He's honest about his shortcomings, faults, being bipolar, using drugs-all that, but he is there when it counts, a true professional who delivers every time. That goes a long way in the industry.

This is England is pure gold, brought back so many memories for me. I grew up in the 80's up north and can relate so much to that time. 90 is my favourite as was 16 living in Manchester blagging my way to get into the hacienda, loving the whole scene. Thank you so much for making something so relatable and honest.
I grew up in the 90s but this is England still gave me childhood summer vibes. I dont think the lives of working class urban kids changed much between the 1960's till smartphones came out tbh. Perhaps it changed somewhat when the first playstation came out and a lot of kids sat inside playing playstation instead of wandering streets. But the big change is pretty recent.

He is hilarious, genuine, believable and I just think he's a funking great bloke. I'd love to meet him and sit down with a brew and have a chat just to hear his stories. Top bloke.
I have become such a huge fan of Joe since watching Preacher. I am wowed out by his portrayal of Cassady the vampire with a heart. I find him quite endearing and adorable.
Met him when he was filming Misfits in my old home town when I went back for a nostalgia Walk and literally bumped into him under and in those Dark Garages and I said ''Alright Woody , What you doing here ?'' Even though he was infact ''Rudy'' Now. And he was so kind and honestly the kind of person you'd definitely like to have in your Gang. He even allowed me to get a cheeky photo with him. Joe is an incredible actor, he was perfect as Woody. He's also a nice lad and rather handsome. I've struggled with mental health issues and a learning disability (dyscalculia) my whole life too, ever since childhood, I know how it is, hope he's well. It takes a lot of balls to come out and tell others that you are struggling, most don't understand, even friends and family.
I was born 1980 I remember my mum n dad struggling to keep us alive on a council estate my dad was a welder my mum sewed slippers for the strix factory 🏭, I was lucky my parents kept it together for me and my brother growing up and now looking back I was lucky I had it not amazing but my parents made sure we never wanted for nothing but they had their arguments! The whole series was amazing and I'd forgotten about what was going on in the world, thanks to the cast and Shane meadows it's an emotional journey to watch it all...
I think what makes this guy a good actor is his ability to convey his emotions and hide them aswell. You can understand how he's feeling at all times which make him relatable.
I’ve wanted to meet this man since I was about 12. Even though I don’t know him I feel like he’s a person that everyone can relate to even if it’s only in a small way. Meeting him and picking his brain is no joke in my top 5 life goals

Given the opportunity to meet anyone from the whole world of TV and Movies Joe would be my number one choice. This is England as a movie was great, gritty, uncomfortable but the characters are amazing, This is England the series was nothing short of phenomenal, Shane Meadows masterclass and Woody and LOL are portrayed so well by Joe and Vicky you actually feel like they are your mates. Genius body of work from Shane and all the cast. Can't praise it and them enough.
Even though this is England was set in the midlands it felt like watching a chunk of my youth in the 90s around liverpool. I’ve showed it to my kids who can’t even comprehend a childhood like that. Life has changed a lot in recent times.
They filmed a lot of the series in the Gleadless Valley area of Sheffield. Apart from the modern cars and people, it still looks how it did 40 years ago.
I never leave comments on anything either, I don't even exist on the internets but here we are. Love hearing our Joe talk on any topic whatsoever for the reasons everyone has mentioned. It's a rare thing, this unflappable frankness. We are so lucky to have Brassic, I think it is so important. So many of the characters and the themes are familiar to my own life, even if it is halfway around the world, even if my narratives were forged across three different countries. You never lose the place you were forged in, the places and people that shaped you. Thanks Joe.

Joe, thank you!! Thank you for reminding myself and my husband of our years of fun and silliness that we spent with our gang of reprobates! We have so many stories of the things we got up to. I can remember my husband and one of his mates coming back from a "trip" to somewhere that shall remain unnamed and my husband had jumped over a fence and his mate had thrown a sledgehammer over the fence after him, only for it to hit my husband before it hit the floor. He was a clumsy bugger was my husband, he fell down some stairs whilst mulling around some building, they'd lifted the doors up that led to a cellar and my hubby stepped backwards and boom!! down the stairs he went. He was lucky not to kill hisself. Those clips in Brassic where clumsiness caused accidents were hilarious and so relatable. Oh and I'm also Bacup born and bred, still have family and friends there, now live in Accrington so I appreciate the backdrop in Brassic too. Thank you for the laughs, love you in everything you do Mr Gilgun!!
Joe Gilgun is definitely one of my favourite actors. This is England is one of my all time best films and his performance is amazing in it. Misfits was class too
I am glad I found this. The film and the Tv series were amazing. It carved its own nieche and all the characters have depth. What TIE achieved is the relatability. The viewer feels part of the group, like the viewer is a friend of the group. That connection is why TIE is so brilliant. I have a binge every year or so and it never fails to entertain.
“I think I’d done some drugs” the bloke is a legend just straight down the line no pretentiousness just a regular bloke who happens to be a great actor from this is England to basic just a great guy and actor
You find it a hard watch Joe? You and the rest of us mate but not for the same reasons... I've NEVER cried and laughed then cried again as much as I did when I watched this.. PHENOMENAL film making and acting in general.
Acc my favourite actor - he just seems so genuine and fkn hilarious and everything he's in he's my favorite (rudy, cass, Vinnie) after this I rly want to watch this is England as well
as an aspiring actor it's always inspiring and to hear Joe talk about his work like this as a bloke from the same neck of the woods and perhaps similar backgrounds its encouraging. this is england is the film that made me want to act, cheers Joe
Joe, I remember your role in Emmerdale as Eli Dingle. I have to say you’re an extremely talented actor. Me and my husband binge watched series one and two of Brassic and we cried with laughter. There were some dark moments in the series but it a brilliant . We can’t thank you enough for the laughs you brought us. We loved the scene where Jim (Steve Evets) is eating fish n chips outside the pub and you call him from the window. We cried laughing as he’s stood there arguing with his own reflection. We think you’re brilliant and wish we had a friend like Vinnie when we lived on a council estate in Hull. Well done to you and the cast 💕. Hope to see series 3 as I hear it’s in the pipeline... 🥂👍🇬🇧
My hubby and I did exactly the same. The town where Brassic was partly filmed, in fact all the town centre scenes were filmed there, is my hometown so it was brilliant spotting all the streets, pubs and shops Ì am familiar with, it was also the town of Hartley in Juliet Bravo, in fact there's been quite a few things that have been filmed there. Brassic and Made in England have to be in my Top 5 of British made television, if not my Top 2, and Its because Joe Gilgun is in them, he's a fantastic actor, not given enough credit in my opinion.
Fantastic actor! Every performance is brilliantly emotive and he comes across as such a genuine person, as well as a great advocate for mental health. His honestly is refreshing.
I was watching one of the classic Coronation Streets on ITV3 this week and this kid of about 10 is in it. I kept thinking, I know who this is but couldnt put my finger on it until the credits came up. A very young Joe Gilgun was superb and natural even at that young age. I hope Brassic 3 wont be too long in the making and I would love to see him back in Emmerdale as Eli Dingle
hes amazing! this is england espcially the series joe was amazing! would love to see him in more dramatic roles , great actor , should have been in happy valley
The majority of actors in the various This is England series’ are absolutely amazing actors. You’d expect them to not be acting at all and that it was their actual persona.. brilliant in my opinion.
The mark of a truly great film is not only the quality of the creativity on every level that has gone into making it from all involved, but also the genuinely warm feelings of nostalgia for the time you first seen it. That perfect storm of golden memories and the feelings seeing it years later can evoke. Think of all your favourites and I guarantee the memories of when and where, and also with whom you first seen it will be a huge part of your fondness for it. I should consider writing utter bollocks for a living.
Guy needs to be given more big acting roles, he really steals the show when I watch his stuff.

That is why it is hard to watch.

Unreal I remember watching it at home alone holding my breath it felt like I was in the room, thinking holy sh#t. That was intense.

Keep going with brassic its a total hit but please i beg make more episodes for each season
Anything to see Joe Gilgun 😍😍 Honestly so in love with him!!!
Don't ever get too big to make more Brassic. Classic comedy/drama. In stitches every episode. Fantastic show. The actors are all spot on.
i love this actor, his is simply superb. i DO NOT understand why is he not in some famous American movies, making the whole world laugh and be happy.
Joe Gilgun is definitely one of my favourite actors. This is England is one of my all time best films and his performance is amazing in it. Misfits was class too
Best British actor we have seen in a long time , great writer aswell
Joe is one of the UK's most underrated actors! Put him in anything and he'll smash it coz he's nutty like that!
Best UK actor! FULL STOP!
(and Brassic is filmed just up the road from me - can I be an extra??? 😂)
“I think I’d done some drugs” the bloke is a legend just straight down the line no pretentiousness just a regular bloke who happens to be a great actor from this is England to basic just a great guy and actor
i love him so much😭😭😭
You find it a hard watch Joe? You and the rest of us mate but not for the same reasons... I've NEVER cried and laughed then cried again as much as I did when I watched this.. PHENOMENAL film making and acting in general.
This is England is easily in my top 3, both film and series. Amazing stuff.
I hope they end up making another season of the show.
Same for me too its a top film and series

The first role I saw Mr. Gilgun play was as Rudy on The Misfits. great show, great performance.
He was brilliant in TIE the whole cast were in fact you’ll never get more raw emotion than you do in TIE
Joe Gilgun is always the best thing about whatever he's in. He needs to be in more stuff!
Acc my favourite actor - he just seems so genuine and fkn hilarious and everything he's in he's my favorite (rudy, cass, Vinnie) after this I rly want to watch this is England as well

Great actor, god given comedy talent. Love this dude.
This is England is a Absolute masterpiece and the series is even better in my opinion
This is England !!! Just great . Ending had a grown man in tears
as an aspiring actor it's always inspiring and to hear Joe talk about his work like this as a bloke from the same neck of the woods and perhaps similar backgrounds its encouraging. this is england is the film that made me want to act, cheers Joe
can’t help but absolutely love him
Im so glad he is funny in real life too. Top lad.
I hope Brassic 3 wont be too long in the making and I would love to see him back in Emmerdale as Eli Dingle
legit almost cried when he said 'shimmy still does my head in'. Can tell he genuinely loves everyone he comes into contact with and the work he does.
hes amazing! this is england espcially the series joe was amazing! would love to see him in more dramatic roles , great actor , should have been in happy valley
fucking love this guy as woody. what a soulful and real character. funny as fuck.
