Giving up on heels

  • Any woman should be able to wear heels at a party, right? I mean, it’s practically a key skill.
BUT, genetics have deemed that I am only slightly less stable in high heels than I would be on rollerskates. So, I am going to SHARE AN AMAZING SECRET as to how you can save money (on cab fares, blister plasters, gel pads and Neurofen), time (the month before a black tie do, which you spend worrying about what to wear), plus have way more fun and avoid breaking ANY of your ribs (bonus!), merely by re-thinking your footwear.
    HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS
The idea of both the Moranifesto, and my RUclips channel is that it’s not just me talking about politics in an amusing and relaxed - although still revolutionary - manner. It’s all of us. I firmly believe that everyone has at least one idea that would make the world a better place and I want to hear those ideas, and get them out into the wider world. Together, we can upgrade this planet, in an organised and polite fashion. So - watch my vlogs, then email me your One Minute Manifesto to Moranifesto@eburypublishing.co.uk - and the best ones will be featured on the channel.
We would like a revolution! Please.

Brilliant! I've been considering wearing a suit to my school prom and this has definitely persuaded me!

I never decided to wear them in the first place, they've always seemed madness to me.

I too have decided to 'Ditch the heels' after a painful family outing I walked home Bambi-like wincing at every step, changed into my beautifully comfortable loafers and headed back out to rejoin husband & friends for a night out! x

I very quickly realised as a teenager that I was buying heels more as objet d'art than shoes.

I like how tall I feel in heels but they are painful and my feet are pathetic anyway so I have never actually gone out in the them (partly due to the fact that I'm 14).
I'm half way through Moranifesto! It's brilliant. You're a genius, Caitlin. A genius.

I always wanted to wear heels because I like that they make me even taller (I'm 5'9"), but I never figured out how to walk in them, not to mention the pain. So instead I started wearing flat platform shoes. They are magical.

I used to love wearing heels up until a few years ago when I switched to flat boots and sneakers (trainers). All of a sudden, heels really started to bother both my feet and my back and I felt very unsafe wearing them - like I was gonna keel over any minute. I've since gotten rid of every single pair of heels I owned (with the exception of one pair for emergencies) and have never looked back. If I go to a wedding and someone asks me why I'm not wearing heels, I just reply with "'cause I wanna be able to have a good time tonight, thankyouverymuch."

Not true. I never bought a pair of cheap heels in my life. It's actually commonly known that Loubutins are the most expensive - and PAINFUL - heels in the world.

Oh, there's absolutely nothing wrong with wearing them! As long as you're not in pain while doing so haha! If she likes them then tell her to go wild :D

So it's not that high heels are 'fuck me' shoes, as Germaine had it some years back, but women saying 'Fuck me! I'm too old/young for this shit; I want to walk without worry.' This is feminist progress, as it's not only basic good sense and non 'slut-shaming', but it takes the male gaze out of the equation. Women don't need heels to walk tall, indeed, though we do need help. Cheers, Caitlin; you help me walk tall.

I like wearing heals now and then, but sneakers are my fave.

I had a phase at 17 when heels seemed like some sort of passage to womanhood. Que walking drunk through coble stones and falling too many times... At the age of 23 now i cannot remember the last time i did the heels thing to myself. It's like breaking your feet yourself, paying for the privilege for days after. No thanks. :d

If heels are part of a uniform requirement previously known to the person then sure go ahead can't stop ya and if the women are down then yeah great but i'm never wearing heels. It's not happening, never have, never will.

Heels make the calf muscles some degree of continually tense which is unhealthy. The changes in body posture ain't doing your health any favors either. Blame men if that's your thing but heels, like makeup and all the other stuff is just women trying to outdo each other so as to win against the competition in getting a "high value man". Consciousness of this fact or not does not make it any less a fact of life.
Don't wear heels, fakeup, pushup bras etc. Just like you for you. Feeling you need fakeup to look acceptable before leaving home is just sad. Focus on developing a pleasant personality instead of a pleasant appearance.
