- It's race weekend and the final race of the year! I am headed to La Quinta, CA, to race Ironman 70.3 Indian-Wells La Quinta with the goal of finally going sub-5 hours since coming back from surgery. It has been a slow, hard return to running at the speed I could before getting injured and having surgery, but the last few weeks of training have been going great, and I feel like I'm about to smash my goal.

Chris! Great job buddy! I was the Run Course Captain in the Santa's hat informing/cheering/coaching competitors at the golf course entrance/exit with my two lil helpers....It was great seeing how strong you were this year! You are inspirational my man, and I thank you for continuing to post excellent, well-produced videos. Stay healthy, and enjoy the holiday season....I'm proud of you and all the work you've put in. Your Santa, Clydesdale Craig : )
congratulations Chris, this was a fantastic performance in that race. I also want to mention the very highr quality of your vieods. I am looking forward very much to the the larger running parts with the BQ qualifier, and i have to say i miss the Mustang
It was nice meeting you after the race! Cheers!
It was great meeting you as well! Hope you had a great race and we see each other again in the future. Any races scheduled for next year?
Cool, fun video. It moved my indoor trainer workout along this morning. Thank you. Best of luck moving forward.
Thank you!
Great race! I’m in a similar boat as you. I had a stroke last year. Fortunately, doing sbr again. My I wills, are doing under a 5 hour time again in Oregon 70.3 and under 10 again in Ironman Cozumel next year.
Your videos help so much, CJaye! Love your goals. Can't wait to see what happens!
Thanks so much Lee!
Congrats on your finish. Great recap video.
Great race Chris, congrats! Indian Wells was my first Ironman. We run in the same age group and I’m also in Orange County. Just compared our splits and you were 22 seconds ahead of me out of T2. I was planning on a 1:40 run but my legs shut down. Finished but it was a humbling experience. Seeing your joy after working hard, persevering and then setting new goals was encouraging, thanks for sharing.
Awesome job! Great video, and man I was stoked tracking you progress. Killed the bike! Side note, I love Tina’s shiny bike!
It’s awesome. Apparently it’s a wrap. Wrap My Ride!
@@CjayeMedia if my wasn’t already teal……
Congratulations on achieving your goal! Looking forward to your next series of challenges! Keep it up!
Great video and awesome well deserved race result 👊👊
Great job, great video, great season. Ive enjoyed following you and you are inspiring me to get back at it. I was much more consistent preCovid, but following COVID injuries and distractions have caught up with me. I'm finding the itch to get back at it, and you're helping that! Enjoy an off-season and good luck next season!
Nice work Chris. Nothing quite like when a race comes together and you crush a goal. Well done.
Awesome mate 👏 so much motivation from your passion for fitness 👌
Super job Chris! You have come a long way since the start of your 26 weeks series. Keep it up!
I must say your time was an awe-inspiring performance. See u at Morro Bay. Try to catch me...
Nicely done.
Nice job!!! Just want to say I really enjoy the podcast with Tony and Austin
Great job Chris!!! Regarding 2024 (like yourself) I’ll be running the Surf City Half and Morro Bay. I live in Yorba Linda… let me know when you train at the SA River Trail (YL Regional Park)
Awesome! You should hop on the OCE Discord. We post all of our training meet ups on there.

Very happy for you that your running is back. I was watching on the tracker and was totally impressed. Inspiring stuff. Congrats!
Thank you Derek! I was a good day.
Bravo. Exceptional performance.
I didn't know that booties are allowed in the swim
Possible “Pro -status” in the near future? Excellent race Chris ! Especially with a few obstacles in your way that caused possibly 2-3 minutes of lost time ?! You really dialed in a lot for this race ! I see you in the lower 4’s time wise….💪🙂👍. Great job 👍.
You should explore radsport ibert's 3rd party parts, he/they make mostlyu for german made tri bikes some sweet hydration and tool storages with aero foremost in mind. I added aero toolbox for my (lucy charles) CUBE whip it integrates fluidly to elite aerodowntube bottle so i get more cda improving sail -surface to the already excellent Formula 1 aero specialist designed tri bike :)
Awesome! Just pulled up the website. Thank you.
Hi Chris. Cut pieces of electrical tape to size and put under stickers for bike and helmet. Makes removal of stickers an absolute breeze.
Nice job! Goals are spicy!😀
Thank you!!!
Aero tribike + jean shorts! Haha that’s a first
Nice video!
come do Chattanooga this spring it will be my first one! Be cool to say Hi (Good job on your race and good video)
That would be a blast. No fulls in my future for a while. Boston Marathon first.
it's a 70.3
Congratulations for crushing your goal man!👊🏻 It’s crazy how many hours of work and prep between a 5:00 and 4:45.
It was nice to meet you after the race. I found your channel because of the IW prep video’s. We are the height, same weight and both were pushing to achieved sub 5:00. I’m now changing my focus to BQ. I WILL get it done in April.
Really like the attention to bike set up on this video. I wanted to switch to tubeless but held off because “nothing new for race day” I noticed it looked like you used a water bottle for aero. Any feedback worth sharing about that?
Sub 5 well done 👍🏽
Awesome performance!!! well earned. Did you hit your weight goal as well?
👍💪
Hello Chris,
I would be interested to know why the wetsuits are submerged in water before the race and then hung on a pole?? I don't know anything like that from Germany.
Many greetings from Germany, Uwe
The water we dunked the wetsuits in had chlorine in it to kill anything that may be on the wetsuit from a previous swim so that it isn’t transferred into the lake.
@@CjayeMedia , Thank you. A very good idea.
Nice bike setup! No recommendation for a full disc on the back?
That’s definitely a recommendation, but I didn’t want to drop the $$$ 🤣. Maybe in 2024!
@@CjayeMedia Thanks for the reply! Loved watching all your build up videos. I'm training for Oceanside 70.3 in April and I WILL go sub 5 hrs!! You're an inspiration
EPIC RACE! Great photos!
I'm very new to the triathalon world. Why were those guys given penalties? Is drafting in a chain like that against the rules?
Correct. You are not allowed to draft in Ironman events. You must have 12 m between you and the bike in front of you if you enter into that 12 m you must make a pass.
@@CjayeMedia Ah! Gotcha! Thanks for the reply. Learning new stuff every video
What garmin are you using for watch ?
