  • This is the second half of the first episode about tips for training like a pro triathlete.
    Pursuit of the Podium is the second season of the Daily Cadence series! This series follow Chris over the next 12-weeks as he trains for Ironman 70.3 Morro Bay in May, to go sub-4:38 and take a top 5 spot on the podium in his age group. His goal is to train like a professional triathlete, which is a commitment that goes beyond swimming, biking, and running workouts; it requires a detailed approach to visualization, fueling, diet, recovery, sleep, race routine, mental strength, and a strong support system.
    Training like a professional triathlete is a multifaceted journey that requires dedication, discipline, and a strategic mindset. By setting clear goals, prioritizing consistency and quality, investing in coaching, mastering transitions, fueling intelligently, embracing cross-training, listening to your body, simulating race conditions, and cultivating mental toughness, you can elevate your triathlon training to a pro level. Remember, each step in your training journey brings you closer to unlocking your full potential as a triathlete.

    Start getting some meters in on the erg! I have moved into rowing being my predominant endurance modality; it’s a great option for “bigger” endurance athletes because strength and power really helps, it’s a bit more friendly on the body, and you can still build a big engine with it while (from my experience) maintaining muscle.

    Anytime I have a negative thought (for me it's usually something like "wow, that mile was pretty darn slow") I immediately come back with something like "well, that's just where I am this mile" or "it's not like these trees are tracking my splits" and I let it go. I've also always been a big visualizer. If I'm a passenger in a car, I'm gazing out the window imagining myself running in the adjacent woods, or biking along the roadway. It's an excellent way to pass the time! I'm big on being present though sometimes for me, that is enjoying the scenery! I am usually very focused on the bike with my pedal stroke and that really keeps me in a great headspace as well-helps too if I have negative thoughts on my bike speed. I'll usually say, you know what, I'm slower today so let's focus on working through the entire pedal stroke-so I'm reframing negative talk while using mindfulness! Combo move!

    Love this! I’ve been looking at my personal “board of advisors” this year. It’s so important to be around people that have the courage to encourage!

    Excellent video and ideas. The topic on negative self talk is important. Also, if anyone has a person/friend/family member who is constantly making negative comments? My advice, don’t allow this. Tell the person that you don’t appreciate the negativity and if they don’t stop, separate yourself from them.

    I have a 2 year old and when I was training for a 70.3 I was constantly getting only about 4-5 hours of sleep, waking up round 4:am to train. I was doing that for about 6 ish months and unfortunately I started experiencing really bad brain fog which was affecting not only my training but my work. Over the last several months, I really started focusing on getting enough sleep (still not as much as I should be getting) but I have seen some improvements

    Cjaye,Cjaye,Cjaye big fan of the channel BUT your rowing technique gave me some shivers..😅…Legs, trunk then arms is the sequence. It’s easy to correct..lots of instructional videos on RUclips. I use the rower too in my triathlon training…soon you will find your swimming shoulder and lats strength improve drastically. Great videos…👍🏾

      It’s been a few years since I’d rowed. My wife was a rower and gives me a hard time.

      @@CjayeMedia ah, that’s great 😀. You have an instructor right there. I started incorporating rowing into my tri training last year and I did get hard time about my technique from club rowers initially 🙈, but I got the hang of it now. There is definitely some carry over benefits into swimming and general cardio fitness . Enjoy…👍🏾

    People also need to try to stop comparing themselves to each other and pro athletes

    • @CjayeMedia
      @CjayeMedia  6 месяцев назад

      My goal wasn’t to compare myself to a pro. It’s to take the positives of their work ethic and apply them to my approach to training. I certainly don’t compare myself to a pro.
