    This is so helpful thank you, it gives me a better idea that it wouldn't be too hard to take my 5 year old. I would also love to do this without my child, it just looks so peaceful and captivating. Thank you for doing this

    There are a lot of streams to cross, usually. Unless one is on a really well maintained track they won't be bridged. Normal procedure is to just wade them with boots on. I drilled a small hole just above the sole in the arch area in mine. They pump dry as one walks. Until the next crossing, of course. Waterproof boots are like walking in balloons in that situation.

    Hi I am gonna bring my wife, 13 yr old daughter and 4 year old son there. Was wondering are you guys wearing jogging shoes or hiking boots

      regular jogging shoes should be fine!

    The mountains in New Zealand are not very big. The mountains around the Mt Cook township are only from 10,000 to 12,000 feet. There are roads and towns higher than that in other countries.
