You selected a lovely place for hiking. I wish I was there, surrounded by nature's beauty and experiencing the thrill of the trails. Like and support from Bangalore!
*Kia ora (hello) Hannah & Tom, I am so pleased that you are enjoying seeing, just how beautiful my country is. It truly is the best place on Planet Earth to be at. You can also see why so many movie makers come here to film their movies. Looking forward to your next video of your adventures in the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.*
@@NotAnotherAdventure The Milford Track Rd is something special and September is a good time to do it because there should be a fair bit of snow around. Having said that that road is often closed becouse of snow so be prepared to have to wait at Te Anau if that is the case. While you're there take a trip to the gloworms. Boat across the lake and then the trip through the cave. Well worth it. If the timing's right I like going across late afternoon and then you get to come back in the dark. It doesn't make any difference to the glowworm experience because that's in the dark anyway. Another great trip from Te Anau is the one to Doubtful Sound. In some ways I like it better than Milford because it's not so busy. You get a boat across Lake Manapouri, if they're still doing them a bus down something like 1.5 km underground to the power station, then the bus takes you over the pass, and finally a boat out onto the sound. Beautiful! Not cheap but well worth the money. But that trip up to Mt Cook beside Lake Pukaki is also pretty special on a fine day. In fact, I have a photo of Mt Cook from halfway up that road as the background on my computer. It's been there for some years now. Can't find anything to beat it. But I'm an (old) Kiwi from Christchurch so I'm probably a bit biased! Cheers!
Yes, avalanches do rumble - and I've often seen and heard them when I've been at Mt Cook. So, yes, there's a good chance that what you heard was an avalanche. If it was a helicopter it would have gone on for a much longer time and you would have probably heard that whump whump sort of sound that choppers make. Just my tuppence worth!

I thought it was an Avalanche! It's something we've never heard before so we weren't 100% sure.
