Hello everyone! Any Sea of Stars fans in the crowd?
I've been wanting to cover this one ever since I played the demo a couple of months ago, but I was too busy finishing the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 album. With that now released, I thought it would finally be time I'd tackle some Sea of Stars!
Even though this is a cover, I felt suddenly inspired by many things that I've been listening to recently! I've been absolutely obsessed with the soundtrack version of Moebius Battle from Xenoblade 3 so I attempted to borrow a bit of that energy, drum sound, and synth risers as the main influence for this new cover. Metallica "chuga-chuga" rhythm guitar sections can also be heard, Xenoblade 2 unique monster dissonant lead-up, FF7 Airbuster choir bits, and more. Ys VIII was also the inspiration for those 80s style chimes in the background in some sections, and you can also hear Chrono Trigger's Boss Theme referenced at the start of my solo as well as Magus' Theme playing in the background just after. I wonder if anybody will spot that...

I only recently heard about this game because of Xbox Game Pass. I started playing it because the story sounded interesting. Holy crap the game is amazing and I highly recommend anyone who hasn't played it to play it. Sea of Stars is such an amazing game and the devs took inspiration from games like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG. Hell Yasunori Matsuda, the composer of Chrono Trigger, composed music for this game! Go play Sea of Stars, it's such an amazing game, the OST is awesome, the characters are well written and the combat is awesome!
Same. Seen it on gamepass, was bored, booted it up. Was iffy about the game at first, then this banger dropped and I was sold!

I love the Chrino Trigger inspiration this game wears proudly. Mitsuda-san killed it with this theme, especially with the eclipse version reminding me of that first time I fought Grandleon/Masamune.
