      I'm not ashamed to say that the hair thinning and loss was the result of menopause. It took me a while to make the connection because my hair would go through different transformations. Then the worst case of thinning and shedding set and my hairdresser asked me what was going on. It was so extreme that I wouldn't go to social events, only work at night. I've always been an inquisitive person and would never give up no matter what. I'm familiar with science and chemistry and that helped me. I stood in the mirror and looked at the condition of my hair and decided on a regimen. I make most of my products and I read labels for ingredients if store purchased. I definitely stayed away from hairdressers and mostly important for women of color is to choose healthy hair styles. I didn't want to be stressed during the process so I was relaxed and mindful of my hair condition. I have to admit that my first store bought item was a DHT blocker. After 6 weeks I saw result that made me cry.

      @rockrecordreport7136 8 месяцев назад +2

      No answer to that one!

    • @matteopepe28
      @matteopepe28 7 месяцев назад +5

      I can summarize. It's not that the natural DHT blockers only block DHT at the hair follicle, it's that natural DHT blockers are less potent and block less DHT than something like Finasteride. Finasteride will block almost all of your DHT, which is great for stopping hair loss but may come with side effects since your body needs DHT for other functions.
      A natural DHT blocker might only block like 40% of the DHT in your body which is much less than finasteride and it will improve your hair condition but won't come with side effects since your body still produces DHT for other functions. At the end of the day, it depends on the person. Some people only need smaller amount of DHT blocked for hair growth, which makes natural supplements better, but for others they need a lot more DHT blocked and for those people they need to use Finasteride since natural blockers aren't potent enough. I would say give natural product a chance and if after 6 months it doesnt work, switch to finasteride

    Glad to see a professional doctor not just shoving Finasteride on us because it is such a brutal drug, more so the Dutasteride. I do have some questions though.
    1. Can one use the full natural DHT blocking supplementation with DIM (which I understand will help prevent conversion of T to estrogen and block whatever DHT is converted from attaching to the receptors)?
    2. If I use the natural DHT blockers with topical Finasteride am I likely to get side effects?
    3. Is it possible to hold off the hairloss to the point where the gene is no longer active and it simply stops or remains at a baseline? Suppose the natural DHT blockers stop the process for say 10 years, will it resume suddenly 15 years later?

    Did my blood work in April
    Vitamin D3 14.3 ng/ml
    B12 180 pg/ml
    (Started supplementing Vitamin D 60000 IU weekly and a multivitamin called Follihair by Abbott since then as prescribed by my dermatologist)
    But still no improvement and my hair was losing its density and temples had started recede so recently my dermatologist prescribed me 5% tropical minoxidil
    But I am sceptical about using minoxidil, as I have to keep using it for ever afterwards.
    As I'm trying to address my hairloss in a natural way first and without going the pharmaceutical way in the beginning.
    So I started scalp massage to promote
    Blood flow to my scalp using head over skull method , (doing regularly twice a day since 2-3weeks now)
    but my hair fall got worse recently after starting scalp massages. It's falling out in clumps and is been worse since then.
    As far as my hair condition goes, i still have a head full of hair apart from less density since last year and a bit of receding hair line around temples
    What should I do?

    How about Rosemary Oil? There is a study showing it works as effectively as Minoxidil. Your thoughts?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  7 месяцев назад +2

      While DHT blockers are a common treatment, exploring natural alternatives like rosemary oil can also be a valuable part of a hair care regimen.
      Studies have suggested that rosemary oil can stimulate hair growth and may be as effective as Minoxidil for some individuals, without the associated side effects. This is primarily attributed to its ability to improve blood circulation in the scalp, thus nourishing the hair follicles and promoting hair growth. However, it's important to note that results can vary from person to person, and what works well for one individual might not for another.
      Incorporating rosemary oil into your hair care routine can be done through direct scalp application, adding it to your shampoo, or using products that contain it as a key ingredient. As always, we recommend patch testing any new product or ingredient on a small area of your skin to ensure there's no adverse reaction.
      For personalized advice and to explore all your options for addressing hair loss, consider consulting with a hair growth specialist or trichologist who can offer tailored recommendations based on your specific situation and health history.

    I’m currently waiting to see a dermatologist in London, I’m sure she’s going to say to finasteride, compared to this how affective would a combination of natural supplements be? Also what do you think to Baricitinib?
    Many thanks in advance

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  11 месяцев назад

      It's great that you're seeking advice from a dermatologist in London. They will be able to provide you with personalized recommendations based on a thorough evaluation of your condition. When it comes to hair loss, there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, and it's important to follow the guidance of a medical professional.
      That said, the effectiveness of natural supplements and treatments, compared to pharmaceutical options like finasteride, can vary from person to person. Natural supplements and lifestyle changes can be beneficial for some individuals, especially if your hair loss is related to nutrient deficiencies, stress, or other non-hormonal factors. However, they may not provide the same level of results as prescription medications like finasteride.
      As for Baricitinib, it's an FDA-approved medication used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and, more recently, as a potential treatment for hair loss disorders like alopecia areata. Its effectiveness can also vary from person to person, and it may be prescribed by a dermatologist if they believe it's a suitable option for your specific condition.
      Ultimately, the best approach is to consult with your dermatologist in London and discuss the various treatment options available. They will provide you with expert advice based on your diagnosis and medical history. Be sure to communicate your concerns and preferences, and work together to develop a treatment plan that suits your needs and goals.

    Just today I got 5mg Fin from my local CVS, a 30 day supply ONLY cost me $5.00
    I'll use a Pill Cutter to 1/4 them, that will give me 1.25 mg daily.... so... that's actually 120 days for $5.00
    BTW... a local Dermatologist wrote the Rx so, I have to figure the office visit cost into the price of the Fin.
    But even with that... I have 3-refills so that's 480 days of 1.25mg Fin for $15.00 and I'm sure the Dr will refill the Rx without making me come in for another office visit.

    I'm a post menopause woman who suspects that my testosterone is to high as I'm experiencing hairs on my chin area that are more severe than just an occasional whisker that pops up that is easily plucked. I actually have to resort to shaving that area now as the number is to high for plucking. I'm also experiencing thinning of my once thick gorgeous hair ! It's heartbreaking! It was my best feature of female beauty that I was, I admit , quite vain about. I suspect that perhaps DHT blockers could help me? Can females benefit from this?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  12 дней назад

      I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through this-it's completely understandable to feel heartbroken when something like hair loss affects a part of your identity. 😔 Hormonal changes post-menopause can definitely lead to an increase in testosterone levels, and unfortunately, this can result in issues like unwanted facial hair and thinning scalp hair.
      ### Understanding the Role of DHT
      DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is a hormone derived from testosterone, and it's known to contribute to hair thinning by shrinking hair follicles. While DHT is more commonly associated with male pattern baldness, it can also affect women, particularly after menopause when hormone levels fluctuate.
      ### Can DHT Blockers Help Women?
      Absolutely, women can benefit from DHT blockers, especially in situations like yours where there's a suspected hormonal imbalance. **DHT Blocker with Immune Support Nutraceuticals** can help by reducing the impact of DHT on your hair follicles, potentially slowing down or even stopping the thinning process.
      ### What You Can Do:
      1. **DHT Blockers**: Consider incorporating a DHT blocker into your routine. These supplements can help manage the impact of DHT on your hair. Look for products that include natural DHT-blocking ingredients like **Saw Palmetto** and **Green Tea Extract**.
      2. **Hormonal Evaluation**: It might be helpful to consult with your doctor to get your hormone levels checked. If your testosterone is indeed high, they might suggest treatments that can help balance your hormones, which could alleviate both the unwanted facial hair and the hair thinning.
      3. **Topical Treatments**: In addition to a DHT blocker, you might want to consider topical treatments that promote hair growth, like the **NutraM Melatonin Hair Growth Serum**. This could help strengthen and thicken the hair you still have.
      4. **Lifestyle Adjustments**: A balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management can also support your hair health by maintaining overall hormonal balance.
      It’s tough to go through these changes, but you’re not alone, and there are steps you can take to address the issue. A combination of DHT blockers, possibly some hormonal evaluation, and targeted hair treatments could make a significant difference. 🌸

    Hi William I am a female on HRT. I do not take estrogen(due to increased bleeding) just oral progesterone and testosterone injections biweekly. My scalp started getting acne a few days after each injection and then over the last few months my hairline has receded quite a bit and crown is shedding with a wider part and part at back below crown area. I went to dermatology. After the testosterone injections my scalp will get acne they gave ketonazole antifungal shampoo and clindamycin topical to “calm the scalp”. I asked about oral spironolactone and she refused and said it would cancel out the effects of HRT. She wanted to use compounded topical spironolactone(expensive). I called my HRT clinic and they gave me oral spironolactone 100mg/d. I have not yet started it. I have not used minoxidil either. I don’t know what to do. Should I not take the spironolactone and ask my clinic to decrease the testosterone(currently 50mg biweekly) or just stop the testosterone. Will my hair grow back if I take a lower dose? It seems obvious the testosterone dosage is too high or I just cannot tolerate it. Will it grow back if I stop the testosterone?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад

      The NutraM Scalp Serum is a powerful, all-natural solution developed specifically to combat male and female pattern hair loss by targeting the root cause-DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Formulated over two years in our Arizona clinic, this serum is designed to block DHT directly at the hair follicle, promoting hair growth without the side effects commonly associated with synthetic treatments.
      How NutraM Scalp Serum Works:
      DHT Blocker:
      The core function of the NutraM Scalp Serum is to naturally inhibit DHT, a hormone responsible for shrinking hair follicles in androgenetic alopecia. By blocking DHT at the follicle level, the serum helps to prevent further hair loss and supports the growth of fuller, healthier hair.
      Natural Healing Herbs:
      The serum is enriched with a blend of topical vitamins and herbal ingredients that not only block DHT but also enhance the body’s natural healing mechanisms. These ingredients work synergistically to create an optimal environment for hair regrowth by reducing inflammation and nourishing the scalp.
      Clinically Proven Results:
      The effectiveness of NutraM Scalp Serum is supported by clinical research, including a double-blind study published in the International Journal of Trichology (2012), which demonstrated the efficacy of topical melatonin in treating androgenetic alopecia.
      Who Should Use NutraM Scalp Serum?
      For Women:
      Ideal for those experiencing hair thinning on the top of the scalp, particularly due to factors like hormonal changes (PCOS, post-partum, menopause), birth control pills, or age-related thinning.
      For Men:
      Best suited for men who began experiencing hair loss after age 17, especially if there is a family history of hair loss, and if the thinning is concentrated on the top of the scalp in typical male pattern baldness areas.
      Specific Benefits:
      Supports the growth of fuller, healthier hair.
      Acts as a topical DHT blocker to combat hair thinning at the source.
      Promotes overall scalp health, which is essential for sustained hair growth.
      Suitable for both men and women experiencing genetic hair loss.
      Directions for Use:
      Apply 1-2 ml of the serum daily to the scalp in areas of hair loss.
      For maximum results, it can be used as often as twice daily or as little as three times a week.
      NutraM Scalp Serum is a natural, clinically proven treatment for androgenetic alopecia, designed to be a safe and effective solution for both men and women looking to regain fuller, healthier hair.

      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25842469/
      The conclusion is that the clinical study provided evidence of the effectiveness of rosemary oil in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA). It showed that, after a 6-month period, rosemary oil was as effective as minoxidil 2% in promoting hair growth, with both groups experiencing a significant increase in hair count at the 6-month evaluation. While more research may be needed to confirm and further explore these findings, the study suggests that rosemary oil may be a viable option for individuals seeking a natural remedy for AGA. Individual responses to treatments can vary, so consulting with a healthcare professional or trichologist is recommended for personalized guidance when considering treatments for hair loss.

      Hi there! We're delighted to hear you're considering starting a treatment with the DHT Blocker we recommend. Regarding the duration of use, it's essential to understand that each individual's response can vary. Typically, it's advised to continue the treatment as long as it's effective and well-tolerated. As for the comparison with Minoxidil, DHT Blockers work differently. They target the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone), which is known to contribute to hair loss. While stopping Minoxidil might lead to renewed hair loss, the effects of discontinuing a DHT Blocker can be different. However, it's often observed that maintaining consistent treatment yields the best results. We always recommend consulting with a healthcare professional for personalized advice based on your specific situation.

      Premature graying of hair can be influenced by several factors, including genetics, nutritional deficiencies, and stress. In many cases, a lack of certain vitamins and minerals-especially B vitamins like B12, as well as copper, iron, and zinc-can contribute to early graying. Addressing these deficiencies through diet or supplements may help slow down the process, though it's important to manage expectations, as genetics also play a significant role.
      Yes, a video covering this topic, including possible treatments and lifestyle adjustments, would be highly beneficial. In the meantime, consider incorporating foods rich in these nutrients into your diet and consulting with a healthcare professional for a personalized approach.

    I’m reacting to this video because it is a very recent one and I hope you will see my question.
    I’ve been losing hair for about two years now, about 30% of my hair is gone. I’ve had an appointment with a dermatologist and after looking at my past/present and the medication I’m taking, she says that it’s telogenic affluvium. My blood is being checked to see if that can be the reason why.
    She said that my medication is most likely the cause.
    I have to use the meds unfortunately so I’m a bit scared that I’m going to lose more.
    Is this a condition where no new hair is growing back? And would the hair growth recover when the meds are stopped?
    In one of your videos you mention that hair doesn’t come back when a certain amount of time has passed. Is that also the case with telogenic affluvium?
    I love your videos and I’m learning a lot!

    Hello Doctor! What's the efficacy of the natural DHT blockers compared to finasteride? I just underwent a hair tranpslant and have made a decision to not go with finasteride in either oral/topical form. Can i preserve my non transplanted hair with the natural DHT blockers?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  8 месяцев назад

      Natural DHT blockers orally arenabout half as affective as finasteride, depending upon the brand and the formula. If you use a topical DHT blocker along side a natural DHT blocker, you will typically average out to be as effective as finasteride again, depending upon brand and formula.

    • @himanshurai6481

      @@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist but topical finasteride is also known to go systemic and cause side-effects and things like post finasteride syndrome. Or do you mean natural topical DHT blockers?

      You NEED to be concerned about losing your new transplanted hair without Fin in your system, and not just non-transplanted hair. You'll lose it all.

    My question is im a male in my 50’s and have male pattern baldness on top, but there is still hair there, it’s vellus hair as they call it. I tried finasteride but I am very sensitive to side effects. Any ideas that don’t require me to take anything internally? Thanks.

    If I buy the dht blocker and foligrowth hair growth supplement, can I use them together? How should I take them so they don’t clash with each other or harm the body?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, you can use both the DHT Blocker and FoliGrowth Hair Growth Supplement together, as they are designed to complement each other and target different aspects of hair health. Here’s how to use them effectively:
      DHT Blocker
      Purpose: This supplement is primarily focused on reducing the levels of DHT, a hormone that contributes to hair loss, especially in androgenic alopecia.
      Dosage: Follow the recommended dosage on the product label, usually 1-2 capsules per day.
      Timing: Take the DHT Blocker with meals, as this can enhance absorption and reduce the chance of stomach upset.
      FoliGrowth Hair Growth Supplement
      Purpose: This supplement provides a comprehensive blend of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that support overall hair health and growth.
      Dosage: Follow the recommended dosage on the product label, usually 2-3 capsules per day.
      Timing: Spread the doses throughout the day (morning and evening) to maximize nutrient absorption. It’s also best to take it with meals.
      Combining Both Supplements
      No Clashing Ingredients: The DHT Blocker and FoliGrowth are formulated to be taken together without any harmful interactions. They work in different ways-one focusing on hormone regulation (DHT Blocker) and the other on nutrient supply (FoliGrowth).
      Routine: You can take both supplements with meals to improve absorption and reduce the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort. For instance, take the DHT Blocker with breakfast and FoliGrowth with lunch and dinner.
      Hydration and Monitoring
      Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to help your body process the supplements and avoid any potential side effects like dehydration.
      Monitor Your Body: While these supplements are generally safe, keep an eye on how your body responds. If you experience any unusual symptoms (e.g., digestive issues, headaches), consult a healthcare provider.
      By following these guidelines, you can effectively use both the DHT Blocker and FoliGrowth supplements together to support your hair growth goals.
