    You didn’t tell us anything about the supplement he was on that caused his hair loss…..when that happens it’s usually all about money, not helping people. Thanks anyway.

      There's no money involved. The video was free. The supplement likely helps many, just not this man, therefore he didn't want to mention the supplement. However, I do wish he had let us make the decision on whether to continue that supplement for ourselves.

      @@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist buongiorno dottore. Sono Giovanni e le scrivo dall'Italia. Mi sono accorto alla fine di agosto del 2023 di avere lo stesso problema del suo paziente. Mi sono rivolto ad un dermatologo e, dopi la visita , mi ha fatto eseguire degli esami del sangue: tiroide, testosterone, ormone, vitamina B6, e B12 e tanti altri esami che adesso non ricordo. Gli esami sono tutti ottimi tranne lieve rialzo Pcr. La dottoressa ha detto che non è un problema. In questo momento sto facendo una cura a base di Minoxidil, finasteride, olux schiuma (clobetasolo propionato), shampoo tricovel prp Plus. La terapia la applico in questo modo: 1 copressa di finasterid alla sera, eolux per 5 sere sulle zone colpite, e, dopo 5 sere interrompere e applicare di eolux e applicare Minoxidil 5% sulle zone per due sere e, lo shampoo tre volte a settimana. Questo è quello che la mia dottoressa mi ha prescritto. Posso solo sperare che vada tutto bene. La ringrazio per la risposta che mi darà. Buona giornata.

    I got diagnosed with Gerd 1 1/2 years ago and I had to cut a lot of stuff out. It’s weird because I have a clean diet regimen for the most part but, I had three spine surgeries, and my mom has Gerd as well. My cholesterol levels were high. I started thinking 🤔 what happened🤷🏽 I have nausea so I can’t eat a lot of stuff like bread, meat, pasta, rice. I was making up for it with salads 🥗 and the only dressings I like on my salad is Italian or vinaigrette dressing. I started liking snickers candy bar again, I started liking Pepsi cola again but only mixed with Schweppes club soda, after watching this video I’m going back to fresh fruits and vegetables and get my gut health back in check.

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад +3

      It sounds like you’ve been through quite a journey with your health and diet! Managing GERD effectively can definitely require some significant adjustments to your eating habits, and it’s great to hear you’re committed to getting your gut health back on track.
      Fresh fruits and vegetables are excellent choices as they’re generally easier on the stomach and can help reduce inflammation, which might be contributing to your GERD symptoms. Keep in mind that some fruits and vegetables can be acidic or potentially aggravating for GERD, so it's worth monitoring how your body reacts to different types and perhaps avoiding those that trigger symptoms.
      Considering your experience with salads and liking only certain types of dressings, you might want to try making your own dressings at home. This way, you can control the ingredients and make them more GERD-friendly. For example, a simple dressing using a bit of apple cider vinegar (which some find beneficial for their GERD in small amounts), olive oil, and a dash of honey or maple syrup could be a tasty alternative to store-bought dressings that might be higher in acids or fats.
      Reducing candy bars and soda is a wise move, as sugary and carbonated beverages can exacerbate GERD symptoms. If you're craving something sweet, perhaps consider natural sweet treats like fruit salads or smoothies that blend sweetness with nutritional benefits.
      Keep focusing on your nutrition and maintaining a balanced diet while listening to your body’s responses to different foods. It's a crucial step towards managing your symptoms and improving overall health.

    I been on finasteride and oral minoxidil for 3.5 years and I noticed the crown area is the hardest to get density .I've tried injecting ghk - cu peptide and still nothing much more filling in .now I used latanaprost didn't do much either, but a game changer I found out by accident was cyclosporine . I used it topically ,but was scared to take it by mouth being scared of all the respiratory illnesses that my immune system would be compromised to ,but my opthmologist put me on a medication for dry eye disease .low and behold cyclosporine eye drops and besides working on helping with the dry eye it's making my crown area getting dense .I only been using it a month and noticed the added extra benefit .it's only probably due to me being on finasteride and the oral minoxidil, but hey I'll take it .I am hopeful I'm gonna get back to the hairline I had in high-school .who would have figured at 60 I will look younger than when in was in my 30'sto 59 lol😊

    Doctor Gaunitz, my apartment has really high EMF and I feel sick and weak inside. I notice it contributes to massive hair loss too. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад +1

      Concerns about high EMF (electromagnetic fields) levels and their effects on health are understandable, especially if you're feeling unwell. While scientific consensus on EMF exposure directly causing hair loss is limited, stress and environmental factors can contribute to overall health disturbances, which might indirectly impact hair health.
      In the context of our discussion on inflammatory hair loss, it's essential to consider all possible environmental and health-related factors that could be contributing to your symptoms. If you suspect EMF exposure is a significant stressor, addressing this alongside other potential inflammatory triggers could be beneficial. It might involve reducing EMF exposure in your environment, focusing on anti-inflammatory nutrition, and managing stress effectively.
      For personalized advice and a tailored approach to handling your situation, consulting with a healthcare professional experienced in environmental health or a trichologist can provide specific insights and treatment options.

      How are you diagnosed? To be perfectly honest after almost 22 years I've never seen this firsthand. However, from what I understand, it's a hair shaft anomaly and by removing the stressor, whether that be chemicals or physical trauma, then it should be able to be reversed over the course of a couple years

Now it's been 1 month and again temporary sheeding of my hair is occuring and i believe that around 1-2 months the hair will be back but after watching this video i think i ahve gone through wrong treatment. 100%. Mine was due to undiagnosed celiac disease causing inflammation and chronic malnutrition. I adopted a gluten free diet 20 years ago and my hair loss reversed. I find bell peppers cause it now. My scalp gets itchy and my hair falls out.

      Similar to me. Any gluten and I get a burning scalp. Similar with sugar, alcohol and processed foods, in general. I don't have any problems with bell peppers but I know nightshades can be problematic for some people.
      My hair improved dramatically when I quit the above and ate more raw vegetables. Even the grey hair goes back to brown. My hair seems to do really well on folate so I have green smoothies. The very best thing I ever found for my hair was a particular wheatgrass powder.

    Hey Dr.
    I had thick hair pre-covid and lost nearly 60%-70% of it between 2021 and 2022(I'm 20). I am deficient in Vitamin D and B12 and supplementing for it. I also was diagnosed with Sebherroic Dermatitis. My sebderm is under control, I still feel itchy in the scalp sometimes, but for the most part I don't get flare us like I used to. I'm still losing a few strands of thin hair that fall off in the shower and some baby hairs that fall off. Do you think I have regrowth or am I still losing hair?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад +3

      It sounds like you've been dealing with significant challenges related to hair loss, Vitamin D and B12 deficiencies, and seborrheic dermatitis. The good news is that your seborrheic dermatitis is under control and that you're treating your vitamin deficiencies, which are crucial steps in addressing hair health.
      The hair you're losing in the shower and the baby hairs falling out could be a mix of both normal hair shedding and possibly ongoing hair loss. However, since you're observing baby hairs, this could indicate new hair growth, which is a positive sign of recovery.
      Here are a few suggestions to help you further:
      Continue Managing Vitamin Levels: Since you're supplementing Vitamin D and B12, make sure to regularly check these levels with your doctor to ensure they're in the optimal range for hair growth.
      Scalp Care: Maintain a healthy scalp environment to support hair growth. Using gentle, hydrating shampoos and products designed for sensitive scalps can help reduce any irritation and support hair health.
      Diet and Nutrition: Continue focusing on a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and proteins can support hair growth and overall health.
      Stress Management: Stress can exacerbate hair loss. Consider integrating stress-reduction techniques such as yoga, meditation, or regular physical activity into your routine.
      Follow Up with Your Dermatologist: As your situation involves multiple factors, continuing to work with your healthcare provider is essential. They can monitor your progress and adjust treatments as necessary.
      The key is to continue with these comprehensive approaches, monitoring your health and hair condition closely. It may take some time to see significant improvements, but being proactive and consistent with treatment strategies will give you the best chance for recovery and regrowth.

    hellow William. My hair started to thin and I jumped on finasteride nw1. 1 year with no results and hair falling daily on the same ratio. Changed to dutasteride, added minox and still the same. I have Itchy scalp, specially if i dont shampoo after 24 hours. Could this be AGA + Inflammation? I'm thinking the supplementation of creatine or dairy is the cause, is it possible?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад +2

      It sounds like you’re dealing with a complex situation involving both Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) and potential scalp inflammation. Despite using finasteride and dutasteride, along with minoxidil, and not seeing the desired results, the persistent itchiness and need to shampoo frequently suggest that inflammation could indeed be playing a significant role in your hair loss.
      Creatine supplementation and dairy products have been discussed in various contexts related to hair loss. Creatine might increase DHT levels, which could exacerbate hair loss in those susceptible to AGA. Dairy, on the other hand, has been implicated in some cases as contributing to inflammation, particularly for those who may have sensitivities or allergies to it.
      Here are a few steps you could consider:
      Reevaluate your diet: Consider reducing or eliminating creatine and dairy for a period to see if there's an improvement in your scalp health and hair loss.
      Scalp Care: Use gentle, non-irritating shampoos and consider adding anti-inflammatory treatments or natural oils that soothe the scalp, such as tea tree oil or coconut oil.
      Consultation: It might be beneficial to see a trichologist or dermatologist who can provide a detailed scalp analysis and possibly recommend a tailored treatment plan that addresses both the DHT sensitivity and the inflammation.
      Managing both the hormonal aspects of AGA and the inflammation effectively will likely provide you with the best chance of reducing hair loss and potentially regrowing hair.

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад

      For issues related to gut dysbiosis and Lichen Planopilaris (LPP), managing inflammation is crucial. Advanced Trichology offers a range of supplements that might be helpful. The DHT Blocker with Immune Support is designed to reduce hair loss from multiple angles, including hormonal and inflammatory factors, and could be beneficial for someone with LPP. Additionally, considering a tea, you might look at options like ginger or peppermint tea, which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties and can aid in digestion, potentially helping with dysbiosis.
      For personalized advice and to ensure any supplement is appropriate for your specific health needs, it’s best to consult with a healthcare provider.

    I was postpartum last year and experienced hair loss, which I was used to since this was my 3rd pregnancy. Everything started growing back in normally around May/June. By August I realized my hair had stopped growing in & was now shedding again. It continued so I visited my stylist at the end of January this year, thinking I just need a good cut. But she alerted me that my scalp was red & inflamed. I made an appointment with a dermatologist who diagnosed me with CCCA. No bloodwork or biopsy was done. I was given info on the condition & prescribed doxycycline and fluocinolone scalp oil for the inflammation. I am skeptical because although I do have a spot at the crown which has been there for years, my main loss has been at the hairline. Could my hairline loss be due to CCCA or is it related to some other inflammation?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist

      It appears that the supplement in question was associated with triggering or exacerbating the patient's inflammatory hair loss. The specific type of supplement isn't mentioned in the video, but it's highlighted that the onset of the hair loss coincided with the start of the supplement, suggesting a potential link. The approach we recommend typically involves identifying any possible triggers for hair loss, including supplements, and eliminating them to see if there's improvement. If you're concerned about any supplements you're currently taking and their impact on your hair health, it may be wise to discuss this with a healthcare professional who understands your health history and needs.

    I have got bald patches and have got itchy scalp, dr said i hv scalp inflammation and also advised to do biopsy, is it necessary to do biopsy plz help me

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад +1

      Dealing with bald patches and an itchy scalp can be distressing, and your doctor recommending a biopsy is an important step towards understanding the exact cause of your scalp condition. A scalp biopsy can provide critical insights that are not always apparent from external examinations alone. It helps in diagnosing various conditions that could be causing hair loss and scalp inflammation, such as fungal infections, autoimmune diseases (like alopecia areata), or other forms of dermatitis which might not be evident through routine checks.
      While it may seem invasive, a biopsy is generally a quick procedure and can be crucial for accurately diagnosing your condition and guiding effective treatment. If you're experiencing persistent symptoms despite treatments, knowing exactly what you're dealing with can significantly improve the targeted management of your condition.
      Here are a few points to consider:
      Understanding the Underlying Issue: A biopsy can detect issues like fibrosis or the presence of inflammatory cells that can influence treatment plans.
      Guiding Treatment: Accurate diagnosis can help in tailoring specific treatments that are more likely to be effective, rather than trying general therapies that may not address the root cause.
      Long-Term Management: Knowing the exact condition helps in managing expectations and long-term care, potentially preventing further hair loss.
      If you're unsure or anxious about the biopsy, it’s perfectly reasonable to discuss these concerns with your doctor. They can provide further details on how the procedure will be conducted, what they're looking for, and how it can benefit your specific situation.

    i suspect this is whats going on with me. would minoxidil oral or topical 5% help?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад

      Minoxidil, whether oral or topical, is primarily effective in treating pattern hair loss related to DHT sensitivity. It helps in stimulating hair growth and slowing hair loss. However, if your hair loss is primarily due to inflammation, as discussed in the video, addressing the underlying cause of the inflammation is crucial. This might include eliminating any triggering supplements, adjusting your diet, or managing stress.
      For inflammatory hair loss specifically, treatments should focus on reducing the inflammation. While minoxidil might still help in promoting hair growth, it won't necessarily address the root cause of inflammation. It’s best to consult with a healthcare professional or a trichologist like William Gaunitz to tailor a treatment plan that targets the specific type of hair loss you're experiencing.

    Hey doctor , last blood test i had , my ferritin level was 143.7 ng/ml , and iron was 73 μg/dl which is too low both of them , could it be the reason that my hair looks thinner at the crown?

    • @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist
      @WilliamGaunitzTrichologist  2 месяца назад

      t's good that you're keeping track of your iron and ferritin levels, as both are crucial for hair health. A ferritin level of 143.7 ng/ml is generally considered within the normal range for hair growth support, whereas an iron level of 73 μg/dl, depending on the reference range used by your lab, might be on the lower end of normal.
      Low iron levels can definitely contribute to hair thinning, especially at the crown, as iron is critical for producing hair cell protein. If your iron levels are indeed lower than ideal for your body's needs, this could be affecting your hair's health and growth cycles.
      To address this, it might be helpful to:
      Discuss with your doctor about possibly adjusting your iron supplementation if it’s deemed necessary.
      Ensure your diet supports hair health, including foods rich in iron and vitamin C, which enhances iron absorption.
      Recheck your levels after a few months to see if there's improvement and how it correlates with your hair health.
      If thinning continues, further investigation might be needed to rule out other causes like hormonal imbalances or other nutrient deficiencies.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you’ve been through quite a bit with your hair loss treatments. Given that you've noticed a recurrence of hair loss after completing LLLT, it might be helpful to explore ongoing maintenance treatments that can be done at home to continue the benefits of LLLT without frequent clinic visits. Additionally, considering the symptoms you described such as scalp tightness, burning, and redness, it could be beneficial to look into potential inflammatory factors that may be contributing to your hair loss, similar to the case discussed in the video where identifying and eliminating a triggering factor led to significant improvement. It's also worth discussing with a specialist whether adjustments to your current medication might help manage your symptoms better. Remember, every case is unique, so finding the right combination of treatments tailored to your specific condition is key.

      @@WilliamGaunitzTrichologist I had previously been treated in a clinic with the Stimula ST-0300 model device for 40 minutes a week for 6 months. I got effective and good results. However, after 2 years, my hair started to fall out again. Thereupon, when I did not have enough money for a new treatment, I wanted to be treated again by buying a hair laser cap. But the result was not effective.

    I have some very very fast sudden hairloss, I had this half a year ago aswell then it stopped for a few months and now its worse than ever… Could it be something in my diet or lifestyle or just male pattern baldness? I am currently seeing a dermalogist but they just want to prescribe me minoxidil or finasteride and they aren’t really testing my blood or anything… what should I do? I am only 20 years old. My gut health isn’t the greatest

      Experiencing sudden and severe hair loss can be distressing, and it's important to explore all potential causes. While male pattern baldness (androgenic alopecia) typically progresses gradually, sudden hair loss might indicate other underlying issues such as nutritional deficiencies, stress, hormonal imbalances, or health conditions affecting your gut health or overall well-being.
      Since you mentioned issues with gut health, it's possible that your body might not be absorbing nutrients effectively, which could impact your hair. Nutritional deficiencies like low levels of iron, vitamin D, B-vitamins, or protein can lead to hair loss.
      Given your situation, here are a few steps you might consider:
      Seek a Second Opinion: Since your current dermatologist is focusing on treatments like minoxidil or finasteride without investigating further, you might benefit from a second opinion from another dermatologist or a trichologist. They can provide a more comprehensive evaluation.
      Blood Tests: It would be beneficial to have blood tests to check for deficiencies or hormonal imbalances. Common tests related to hair loss include ferritin (stored iron), vitamin D, B-vitamins, thyroid function tests, and hormone levels.
      Diet and Lifestyle: Evaluate your diet and lifestyle. Ensure you're consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and protein. Since you have gut health issues, consider consulting a gastroenterologist or a dietitian to improve gut health, which can impact overall nutrient absorption and health.
      Manage Stress: Stress can significantly contribute to sudden hair loss. Techniques like mindfulness, meditation, regular exercise, and adequate sleep can help manage stress levels.
      Continuing to work with healthcare professionals to get a comprehensive understanding of your health status and exploring all potential causes of your hair loss is crucial. Sometimes, addressing lifestyle, diet, or underlying health issues can significantly improve hair health.

      It sounds like you're already using several treatments under the guidance of your dermatologist but are still struggling with dandruff and hair loss. Since you're experiencing persistent issues, it may be beneficial to review your current regimen and possibly adjust it. Dandruff can often contribute to scalp inflammation, which might be aggravating your hair loss.
      In addition to the treatments you’re already using, consider incorporating a shampoo that targets inflammation alongside its anti-dandruff properties. Look for ingredients like tea tree oil or salicylic acid, which can help soothe the scalp and reduce flaking. It's also essential to ensure that you're not over-washing or using water that's too hot, as this can exacerbate scalp irritation.
      Given the complexity of your symptoms and the treatments you've already tried, a follow-up with your dermatologist is advisable. They can reassess your condition and may suggest additional treatments such as a different formulation for your topical applications or other advanced therapies.
