This was the best era of NBA basketball. A physical game, the players weren't activists, had normal haircuts, and weren't covered in tattoos. They just wanted to play at the highest level. The rate of play was much better because the ref's weren't calling touch fouls every 15 seconds. I miss Penny's era. He was one of the best. IMHO, at his peak, Penny was the closest to Jordan for a short time. It's a shame he went down hill with injuries. That 95 team was a squad! I was at the finals game 1 (in the upper bowl) when Nick missed those free throws. I'll never forget it.
Put it this way... after watching him only a few games with the Magic I was wowed. And living only a couple hours away from Orlando I was a Magic fan. And I was thinking to myself, he's our 'Jordan'! Loved his authoritative dunks that seemed to come outta nowhere. I remember thinking how cool he looked, with nice flare. And I was only 5 years his senior, so I could relate to him generation-wise. I also have this memory that sticks with me... When I bought my next pair of Nikes I was thinking, maybe I can look as cool as Penny at my next pick up game with these. 😆 That's how much he took over my basketball world.
Glad i came up in the 90s. Penny was my twin bro's and I favorite player AND STILL IS. I still have games of his on vhs. And all his rookie cards. Lol Not to mention he had the some of the dopest Nikes.

He really didn't have any weaknesses. Could back you down fade away, post you up, dribble you to the rim, pull up jumper, make the right pass, or hit the 3.
From what I remember watching him play the Bulls in the playoffs, Pippen couldn't stop him. It was truly exciting watching him play, even though I was a Bulls fan (Pippen & MJ fan) then.
Met Anfernee on my job at the Marriott Hotel downtown Memphis. He was sweet, quiet and reserved. Ignored another fan to talk to me and gave me his autograph. A real sweet heart ❤️

Good to see he's getting more and more respect! One of my biggest childhood heroes.
The 🐐 in my eyes, favorite player hands down. Doesn't get the respect he deserves.
The good old days Shaq and big Penny i remember all this I love my Orlando Magic and I love this game
Penny had underrated footwork man
Rusty Dagon And very a underrated post game.
And Shooting especially for the 90s
Might’ve had the second best footwork in the post, behind Dream
Yeah he did outside of MJ Penny was the best.

Penny should have been the next Magic Johnson. As far as I remember, he suffered from injuries early in his career
