Hate to go all Post Modern Historian here, but slavery was never considered Evil until the Enlightenment. That’s nearly 8000 years of humans enslaving humans before some people went “Yanno? Slavery is bad, gang.”
That said, Slavers are always unambiguously evil scum of scum in my game worlds.
One of the big issues of DnD is that they tried to go culturally neutral with the monsters, but monsters are EXTREMELY culturally relevant. And whenever they tried to create “culturally inspired” game settings… oh boy. I’ll be generous and call them…clumsy. (Looking at you Al-Qaddim and Kara-Tur)
So what you get is some extremely watered down, mostly pop culture inspired look at best or veiled under a couple centuries of Orientalist colonial mind set at worst view of the Djinn.

Really good thoughts. Probably worth remembering that with their strength and maneuverability, fighting them in the open is potentially really deadly if they start to grapple and drop people.

Grappling is tough RAW as the Multiattack action prevents you from swapping an attack for grapple.
So if you want to do something like that you need to either sacrifice your entire turn for the Djinni or, homebrew the statblock to allow the grapple.

Javalins are decent range back up for Str based melees.
Or DM and players can come up with throwing imorovised weapon rule.

I feel like no str character brings a lot of javelins cause it rarely comes up. But yeah they get the job done!

I want to DM again. Listening to this reminded me of the Djinni Warlock and I kept on thinking about the wish spell (would wish for global human and trans rights 🏳️‍⚧️ )
In B4 The Lost City, there is an efreet cursed to protect a volcano and stop players from Perma killing the bbeg.
I want to DM again but I wished there was more decisions to make every level.
What homebrew rules do you use in your homebrew games?

Half the reason I dm is to have some control over the world. I get it.
In regards to homebrew rules at our table we have a couple I can think of top of mind.
Rests on the road are always short rests unless the area is totally safe.
We use a 3rd party supplement that let's you upgrade your weapon
Monks can use step of the wind and patient defense with no ki cost
I'm sure we have others but those are the couple that have made our 5e games much better

@@MonstersMulticlass I appreciate this, and will incorporate this into my game.
