Thank you for all the info and laughs you share with us. Your channel is one of my top favorite fishing channels in the PNW! I really like how you focus on different specific species or tactics. Many of which I've used to full my freezer with delicious seafood this summer. Wow, what a great fishing summer it's been. Thanks again Blake.
Thanks a ton David! Some people knock pink... Salmon that is. But never me! I panko'd the last one I caught and served it with hoisin sauce and rice. The whole family loved it!
Thanks Brad! I hope you and the family are surviving the smoke. I get burnt out the internet every now and again. It rendered my encyclopedia brittaniticas obsolete. So I swore a blood oath for vengeance!
Thanks a ton! I see what you mean on the knot. One small difference (for me) is when I tie an egg loop, the last three wraps on the bottom go under the loop.
I remember using those "Buzz Bombs" as a kid, would've been about 1970! I don't recall ever using them while casting though, just trolling. Amazing how some lures just "stay the course". Powder coating seems to be the new thing these days, in fishing with jig heads etc. and of course I use it quite a bit with my other lead castings. Have a great day! Mike.
Thanks Blake. My brother, sister-in-law and I use to go every season for pinks off the dock. Get in line at 5-5:30 and be one of the first in at 6am. We would stay about 12 hours. We only limited a few times. Back in those days we could have 4 pink salmon. My oldest sons first salmon (pink) was off there, also.
Thank you for sharing Toni!! That's a great piece of family history. That's what I'm used to too, the car line at the gate! I guess with the fishing pier shut down, less people are coming. At least on weekdays. (I hear the weekends are still pretty busy).
Hey Ilona!! Thanks! Sometimes I take a break from the internet. But I think I'm easing back. I agree, exciting times to be a Seahawks fan! Hasn't felt this way in a long time, so much possiblity. Go Hawks!
Hey! Thank you! I threw that in there because I was bummed my camera has died when I finally got into one. That was a really fun day. Your son is a really great kid!
You said it! A really fun thing about Dash Point is there really isn't any snags, so you can set hard if you feel a bump. I hope you get limits of big fish this weekend!
Nice catch and good video! Your setup is great! I did ok just throwing a pink wooley bugger and castabubble with a straight retrieve. Got four and kept two. One of my fish was the size of yours, the rest smaller. Great fun.
That's a great idea Corbfisher! When they're in close, I think the smaller the better. The advantage of the buzz bomb is being able to launch it out there. Right before I got my second fish in the video I was going to go back to my truck to get a teeny 1.5 inch buzz bomb. I think way more effective if they're up shallow. I super appreciate sharing your gear!
Heck yeah Micah! Totally agree. Ironically I like them for everything but herring (given that herring are bait). I suppose they'd work well for them as well!
Everyone thinks Pinks only like pink lures. Not true. At least on the Snohomish river they absolutely devour silver and blue Luhr Jensen Crippled Herring jigs. This is a little known secret. I just let the cat out of the bag.
Maybe it's my retrieve, but I always do better with just a plain Buzz Bomb and no trailer, hoochie, squid thingies. Plus, I get more hits from cohos and kings when they are around. I can cast farther without the drag from the trailer trash, especially on windy days. Hoochies are stoopid expensive, just not enough bang for my buck. To each his own. Thanks for a fun video and helpful tips.
Thanks Charles! Totally agree on the other species. Now that the Coho are in thick I actually am not using a skirt. Great point! (Also I'm throwing a pline minnow instead of a buzz bomb but basically the same thing). Really appreciate the thoughtful comment!
They’re just starting here in Michigan and can’t find a buzz bomb around here so I’m gonna improvise a Castmaster spoon with hook removed and a tube jig.
Sadly they have not opened the pink fishery on the Fraser River up here in Vancouver BC and further up the river , But lots of places just like what your doing from ocean beach shores around metro Vancouver all the the up towards Squamish the high going to Whistle you can fish from shore ,
@@micahgelfand8282 Interesting. That sounds pretty good. When I worked in Alaska we just turned them into smoked candy salmon and used the heads and bellies for halibut bait.
It's a blast! The people are really nice too. Its not stressful like river combat fishing can be. Thanks for the tips Micah! I've been breading them in panko and serving them with hosien sauce and rice. Family loves em!
Hey Jarom! Whatever I do with them, I soak them in a salt brine for an hour (and then rinse the brine off). It firms em up, draws out any slimy texture. I've been panko-ing them this season. Serving with hosien sauce and rice. Big hit with the whole family!
@WAFishQuest that sounds fantastic! I've only been pink salmon fishing once in Washington when visiting my in laws at the right time. I didn't keep the hen I fight because I wasn't sure how to prepare it. I'm interested to dive in now!
Two hooks is totally fine. I'd use two smaller hooks tho. Like a size 2. I have a little shrimp jig for pinks and I use two size 4s. (It's a small lure).
Sweet. No arguments from me. I was just going off previous seasons experience. By the end of vid, I was definitely wondering if I was wrong on that statement.
Thanks Ronnie! Super appreciate it. I have an Instagram but I don't even have Instagram on my phone anymore, so I'm pretty inactive. I'm not a great self-promoter, you almost have to stumble onto my channel.
Dropping bombs on the pinks! Nice work. Such a versatile jig/lure. The steady retrieve got it done. Tight lines Blake!
Thank you Jerry! I usually avoid "combat fishing" but in 6 or 7 Dash Pt visits this year I had an absolute blast. The company was superb!

Wow, thank you for your kind words Colin! They really made my night. Glad you're having a great season!
I haven’t fished for Salmon in way too long. Two fish in an hour is not too shabby! Nice catch!

I live in Sequim and I have a small boat. Where would you recommend that I go to fish for pinks/coho?

I like that you and Bashi are buddies, both solid dudes! thanks for the buzz bomb tip!
Bashi's great, I love his channel! Thank you, thank you.
I love pink salmon! I love buzz bombs! You tied up an egg loop, a cousin of the simpler snell knot

Pretty sure they're a BC original Mike! (I know they're made in Canada for sure). Thanks for sharing and good to know they're going 50+ years strong!

I dig the pink shirt! Very on point 😂
Thanks Khan! Gotta think pink... Draw em in!
Nice job Blake. Thanks for the pointers!

Hey man.. awesome video.. me and my son were fishing next to you at the end of the video..
Hey! Thank you! I threw that in there because I was bummed my camera has died when I finally got into one. That was a really fun day. Your son is a really great kid!
Just amazing the hoochie, lure and hook all match your shirt! Nice job catching the pinkies.
Thanks Steve! Color coordination is essential with these metropolitan fish.
Yes! Spend money and open packages for us! Haha I really appreciate the shirt 😂
I hated having $5, so it worked out. Thanks, I learned that trick from Bashi!
Good show, lovely video, Pink salmon fishing has so much fun
Thank you so much Shane! I wish the pinks ran every year!
There’s few feeling like feeling a fish grab hardware, happy to see you have some action. I’ll be heading out for them this weekend on my dads boat.

Just ordered my powder paint! Thanks for info. From kayak I switched over to pink 1/4 gigs with pink squids on them. Killing it.
Thanks for the Intel! Twitched fast those jigs are pretty incredible.

Big river bait hooks are excellent for sure! My favorite hook for salmon. They stick so well. Very rarely lose a fish with them
Heck yeah Micah! Totally agree. Ironically I like them for everything but herring (given that herring are bait). I suppose they'd work well for them as well!
Dude that’s my car right next to you. Haha I went to dash point 3 times so far and it’s really easy to catch pinks with the buzz bomb!!
Heck yeah! I've been down 5 or 6 times. Couple days they weren't there for whatever reason, but usually get into a few. Tight lines!
You have the pink shirt on, master Blake!!! It looks great on you! And thanks for teaching us how to coat the hook.
When it comes to pink videos, you're the master, Bashi!
Your videos are incredible to watch. :)

Oh no! Some one call the cat catcher! Thanks for the hot tip Rick!
I found one of those last winter near my hometown area. Not very close to you I’m on the east side but good to know they’ll slam those
Nice job!
Thank you Brent!
Hi Blake, I’ve been getting into the pinks in area 10.. Really want area 11 to open up for trolling !!! Come on WDWF…

Can I use pink for coho or should I get the green/bluish buzz bombs?
They’re just starting here in Michigan and can’t find a buzz bomb around here so I’m gonna improvise a Castmaster spoon with hook removed and a tube jig.
Hope it works for you! I don't see why not, if they bite like they do in Washington.

That's a bummer. I hope the run is okay. Thanks for sharing the info!
Blake’s the hoochie coochie Man! Or maybe that was Muddy Waters 😂
I will take the mantle!
I don’t really like eating pinks, but some day I’m going to make the trek up north to fish for them. Looks like too much fun to pass up
They are pretty good if you smoke them or treat them more like trout. Pink salmon tacos are very good too

which rod is this? It looks awesome!
Hey Henry! It's an Okuma Celio I think it's called. Really great quality for the price. $60 rod I think.
A lot of people have negative things to say about Pink's meat. What do you do?
Hey Jarom! Whatever I do with them, I soak them in a salt brine for an hour (and then rinse the brine off). It firms em up, draws out any slimy texture. I've been panko-ing them this season. Serving with hosien sauce and rice. Big hit with the whole family!

Bleed right away, put them on ice right after fully bled, eat them that night.
Whats the wa state pink salmon limit per person?
Hello! It's two where I was. It's 4 on some rivers and currently in at least one marine area. It used to be 4 about everywhere.
Is there a reason you don’t use to hooks?
Two hooks is totally fine. I'd use two smaller hooks tho. Like a size 2. I have a little shrimp jig for pinks and I use two size 4s. (It's a small lure).
Lol based on what I've seen the peak in the north sound is still a week or more away. I limited out at Ft. Casey in 45 mins yesterday
Sweet. No arguments from me. I was just going off previous seasons experience. By the end of vid, I was definitely wondering if I was wrong on that statement.
shame the flesh on pinks is only good for cat food. fun to catch and release though.
I disagree (about them as table fare). But to each their own!
