Damnation Alley was one of my favorite films as a kid... we taped it off of the TV and I watched it religiously. The vehicle created for it was really cool and clearly influenced the troop carrier vehicle in Aliens.

I'm completely new to Hawkwind, but I immediately liked what I heard from an (earlier) album. Having no knowledge of the band, when I played "Quark...," I immediately understood what you mean by "poppy" (in contrast to the earlier album I listened to). I liked it, either way, though. In some ways, it almost sounds like a different band. Anyway, I'm definitely going to listen to more of them. I noticed Outlaw Bookseller has a video about them; I'm gonna check it out. Great stuff. Cheers.

They really did change a lot over time. I'm glad you're enjoying it. Thanks for watching.

I don't know if I have a favorite Hawkwind studio album, but I really do love "Live Chronicles"; It's a punky electronic psychedelic metal journey that is awesome! I played the heck out of that cassette until I replaced it with a cd version. Looks like a Hipgnosis cover. I do think I have this on Lp......

The live stuff is really incredible. I did read that this was their only Hipgnosis cover. This is a good one.

Thanks for the recommendation, just gave it a listen...being a Brian Eno fan, I enjoyed this...very Enoesque/Roxyesque...surprised he's not the engineer/producer lol...also recalls for me Sonic Youth, Velvet Underground...Fable of a Fallen Race brings to mind your recent review of the Moorcock movie The Final Programme...

My fave by Hawkwind is Warrior On the Edge of Time.
