The .44 Magnum is such a boss, especially when given enough barrel length, and that Ruger Bisley Hunter is an attractive piece. I like the XTPs for my magnum handguns. I have hunted with XTPs in 158 gr .357, 200 gr 10mm, and 240 gr .44, and they've never let me down. I run them hot, and they are very consistent. They seem to thrive at higher velocities. I think the Underwood 200 gr XTP load in 10mm is the best available, and it is my EDC load for my Glock 20. Good stuff!
Nice! I have both of these loads for my Blackhawk and 629, both 5" guns. I picked up 2 boxes of Underwood 300gr JHP last week that I can't wait to try. Box says 1300fps. Probably get that from your longer barrel.

Dude, you HAVE to put a decent pistol scope on that thing. Especially being out in AZ, with longer shots available, that .44 with a scope would thwack anything on two or four legs out to 100 yards.

I have the same revolver, except , mine is no the bisley. You need to try 265 hard cast gas checked bullets from Montana bullet works. Mine is very accurate with that bullet. And very effective on game. The deer I've shot. We're complete pass throughs.

Excellent. Great test & results. Very nice Ruger. Very impressive expansion on both. We have harvested dozens of whitetail over the years with 44 magnum revolver & rifle. Many, many have fallen to the 240 XTP. Devastating under 50 yards. But good out to 125 with rifle. I have never used FlexTip but it demonstrated here it's capabilities. Well done my friend. Enjoy.

Wow man 3 weeks seemed like 4EVER must have been torture for you! What more can you say .44 mag is an apex predator. XTP never disappoints I'd like to see the FTX in bonded form to retain weight especially at carbine velocities.
Yeah it was rough. Thoes last few I posted I actually did a while back and had them stashed in my back pocket for slow times. Total of 3 months🥵 it was awful lol. I was struggling😂. Man those rounds were moving. I wonder how much more I could get out of my 8 3/8 barrel. Absolutely devastating results.
The ftx is factory choreographed from an 8” and gets around 1330 from my 4.25” so you should be getting 1400+ easily

The leverevolution gets around 1330 from my 4.25” revolver and is my sidearm of choice when hunting.

Weird factoid. The 225 FTX bullet has less BC than the 240 grain XTP. I don't know what the point of it is. Even the 200 grain XTP has a better BC.

Rake the area with a leaf rake before you test to make it easier to find bullets that escape.

How does this compare to the 41 mag you tested? I remember that one had some terrific damage too.

All we need now is someone to chime in that there's no difference in effectiveness of pistol rounds. Yeah, your 9mm is just as effective as this....

I use the 225 gr in my 44 mag single shot rifle cva and it’s deadly drops deer right away and big holes the long barrel gets fast speeds and 225 has no recoil

That's great, but..... I'm 6'3" with size 14 feet. No way I can ever drive a vehicle and enjoy it.
225 grain leverevolution I get 1790 fps in my rifle. I like the XTP BETTER.
