    Just ordered a Loaded Laramie 4500 this week. I was gonna get a 3500 with 4.10s and had the dealer work up the 4500 with 4.10s and it was only $2k to jump up to the 4500 with the wide track front axle. I had to go with a Laramie over a a limited due to the fact I didn’t want the 12” screen . I have the 12” screen in my current Ram and dislike it because I prefer hard buttons over touchscreen menus.

    Honestly, that truck is total overkill for me. I really like the RAM interior, and I'm a Ford guy. I am seriously considering a RAM 3500 dually for my next truck. But there is 1 thing I did notice about the drivetrain that seems to go against the views many posters. If the 4500/5500 series can run just fine on 360 hp and 850 tourqe, so can I. I'll just order it with 4:10 gears and be on my way. And I will keep the extra 3 grand in my pocket. I'll take longevity over bragging rights every time. That being said, the steering on the 4500/ F450 is hard to beat! Nice video.

      Make sure you look up insurance before you buy it. You’ll need commercial insurance regardless if it’s for business or personal use when you switch to anything above a 15k gvwr.

    It does a great job of carrying a slide in camper . With the 4.89 axle you can expect 17 mpg with a c&m flat bed . When you add a bigfoot 10-4 camper at 4000 lbs, it will bring your milage down to the 14 mpg range. If you buy one, I will recommend that you find a good rustproof company to treat the frame and cab. Also, make sure you get a turndown for the exhaust.

      My 21 F350 dually 6.7 w/4:10 rear end only gets 15-16mpg. Towing heavy is 10-11mpg. 14 is good.

    Like we've talked about while driving my F-450 how amazing the wide track front axle is and it doesn't make sense why Ram and GM don't make a 4500 or 5500 with a regular production pickup bed and a full power engine!!! Beautiful truck though 👌😍 Those 19.5s do make the ride a little less than wonderful when empty but yes hook a trailer up and it's not bad.

    • @JB_WhoWork
      @JB_WhoWork  2 года назад +2

      I think it has to do with weight. Because Ford uses aluminum for the body, you can still have over 5000#’s of payload with lower trim levels. If they can get around the 14k GVWR and have DOT change the classifications to 14500#’s, I think they would follow suit 👍🏾

    • @hitchedtohorsepower
      @hitchedtohorsepower 2 года назад

      @JB Reviews that is the only thing that makes sense. As hard as it is to get a cab chassis Ram getting a regular F-450 is even harder! I'm loving my 2009 Silverado 3500 that I replaced my 2021 F-450 Platinum with, especially not having DEF, but I'm thinking of getting another new truck because I miss that wide track so much. I know it will never happen but how amazing would it be if a wide track front axle was available on an HD truck 🤔

      Nothing some aftermarket wheels and tires can’t fix

    • @toofastnobrakes
      @toofastnobrakes 2 года назад

      I honestly don’t even think they need to go as far as fords F450 did. Keep the same frame and most of the same suspension. But give it the wide track front axle, larger fuel tank options, and lower gearing options. Heavier frame, 10 lug wheels, and commercial tires not necessary imo.

    • @hitchedtohorsepower
      @hitchedtohorsepower 2 года назад +1

      @TooFastNoBrakes!!! I agree, the only reason I bought a F-450 was because of the wide track front axle. I sold it last summer because of the crazy market the dealer offered me more than I paid even though I had 18,500 miles on it. I got a 2009 Silverado 3500 with 46k miles out of Montana without any rust on it. I'm thinking about another new truck but want to see what Ford does for 23. I loved some things about the having the 4.30 rear, see JB and my trailer drag race videos, but for what I do I'd rather have the better fuel economy of the F-350's 3.73. Same thing with the 19.5s. I liked the stability and long life they offer but the lack of tire flex over the bumps got annoying. I like that there is a full power, bed equipped 450/4500 but yes If I could get a wide track and 60 some gallon tank 350/3500 with I choice of rears, I'd probably go with something like a 3.73, that would be great. As it is I choose the F-450 because the price wasn't that much different than a F-350. I had driven the new Ram 3500, Silverado 3500, and F-350 but the first turn out of the dealer's lot I was sold on the 450. I had a Platinum and I miss some of ths nice things about it but if it wasn't for that front axle and my RUclips channel content I would keep driving this 09 Silverado. I was quite surprised how little I feel like I gave up and I'm very happy to not have to worry about DEF system problems!!

    Hey, I have a question for you. On Ford Super Duty Diesels there is an option for a supplementary heating system which is basically an Electric heater in the air ducts to warm up the truck in Cold weather till the engine gets up to temp, which can take a while on a diesel. It is a cold weather option. Does RAM have that capability?

    I have a 5500 exactly the same thing. I don’t like it. Biggest buying mistake I ever made. It is a fuel hog with the 4.89 rear and it rides horrible even with the kelderman air ride. 11 mpg is best I can get pulling nothing. You feel every little crack in the road. I’ve tried Firestone tires and also Michelin tires at all air pressures. Still worst ride I’ve ever owned. Another thing is it doesn’t have high output Cummins which Chrysler won’t put in it. All in all it is no more than a glorified farm or work truck. I bought it to pull a 45 ft toy hauler camper. I wish I would have kept the 2011 3500 Cummins.
