    I heard there are two kinds of muscle hypertrophy: myofibrillar hypertrophy and sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. My theory is that myofibrillar hypertrophy slightly increase muscle size but greatly increase strength, while sarcoplasmic hypertrophy greatly increase muscle size. I'm not sure what else sarcoplasmic hypertrophy does though, some says it increase muscle glycogen storage, so maybe fatigue resistance? Which means more endurance? More reps?
    Also there's the theory of motor unit recruitment, I think it means not all muscle fibre are working when lifting, working out will increase the percentage of muscle fibre activation. Also when reaching muscle fatigue, your nervous system will tell you to stop lifting and give up before you hurt yourself, this threshold can be pushed further to lift more weight before reaching limit.
    Those are all theories though.

    The deadlifts are different, you can lift more in the sumo style (grip between the legs wide leg stance) compared to regular deadlift with the grip outside the legs "narrow" stance.. look at the distince of the lift, with sumo theres less travel required for the lift.

      It's all in the weights you use. If you use weights that you can only do up to 5-6 reps with you'll gain strength but not much mass. So you have to constantly lift as heavy as possible. That's not super healthy so light weights for mobility and accessory exercises are needed. Think Olympic lifting. 70 kg guys snatching twice their body weight.

    • @OfficialSantaClaus
      @OfficialSantaClaus Год назад

      @@retardno002 True, key is not to keep your muscles under tension for very long to prevent hypertrophy taking place (muscle growth) at least to some extent. Downside of this kind of muscles (fast twitch) is that they tire out faster than slow twitch muscles that are activated in high rep(15+) workouts. Also I forgot to mention that high rep workouts don't activate hypertrophy almost at all.
