I mean the event is literally called the World Deadlift Championships. It was clearly advertised as going for the 505 record, and athletes knew that. @@M10-z1qNot what he meant. Giant live doesnt allowed them to peal the weight they want, they have a preplanned set of bar weights they have to choose from. So they wouldnt be able to go for their true max even if they wanted to, tho these 3 guys wanted a shot at 505 anyway.

Mind over matter dont be defeated youll get there you've just gotta persevere. You'll do 505kg just keep at it 💪 mad though thats over half a tonne 😂😂 absolute beast
Being brutally honest non of these guys were anywhere near. On a conventional pull, the first pull is the easiest part, especially getting it to just below the knees. The hard part is that second pull. With makarov it will be a case of if his health gives out before he can get the lift, man is so strong but never seems to be quite there. Grahams 470 wasn’t as good as people seem to think it was, it slowed, he hitched it several times and struggled on the lockout. Would have been interesting to see pavlo make an attempt, man is a beast and he is still young as well. When we saw Eddie and Thor pull 470 it was smooth, no slow down and no hitching and non of these guys are at that level quite yet. Wasn’t to be this year, there is always next year
They seem to have too much of a casual attitude about it. They don’t hype everyone up. When Eddie did 500 they were really lifting him up for it, but with each attempt at 505 they’re not hyping it up anymore than an opening lift. What Eddie and Thor did was special. No one’s gonna be doing that for a long time
Considering how quick Hafthor got that bar up for, he could go for 510-520 instead of 501, then no one in fifty years or so could even approach this weight.
I believe he had planned to take another one at 510-515, but tweaked a hamstring when he pulled the 501 and thought better of it. There's an alternate universe where he pulls 510 or 515, and then we probably don't see anyone break _that_ record for the next 20 years. As it stands, I expect it will fall in the next couple of years.

Very brave efforts from all, but only Hafthor Bjornsson can lift this weight.
May God give me the strength to do world record deadlift . Amen.
Goes to show how insane Eddie's pull was back when he was active. But to be honest, Thor pulled 501 easily. I love Eddie but I do believe Thor is the only man that could pull 505+.
crazy right? 7 years later and no one has even come close to breaking Eddie's record.
Thor crushed his record and then beat his ass lol@@gojira444
Agreed. Thor made 501 look easy and I believe he might return and do 510+. His strength is absolutely ridiculous. He is also 6'9" - Nearly a foot taller than Hicks, Makaroc and Heinla.

Do it in comp or gtfo
@@megaragexx he didn't beat his ass eddie gave him lot of good punches its just that he was not trained properly due injury in his arm, and thor beat his record by 1 kg in 5 yrs 😂 eddie should probably lift 502 kg now

damn this feels like a race to see who deadlifts 505kg first,i wonder who is gonna win 😅
To lift it even an inch is insane!
Thor is truly 1 in 8 Billion. Absolutely Ridiculous Strength!!!
Thor is a loser, if you compare to eddi
@@jonasherbst9722 Eddies 1 win against Thors 30 wins? LMAO
There are 2 people on this earth with potential to deadlift 505+kg in the future... Tom Stoltman and Hafthor.
Hafthor?! Omg, you can't be serious.
makarov HAD AN UNCLIPPED BELT
Even making that thing leave the ground is totally badass.
You take your life in your hands when you lift that. What❤❤
This is the difference between reals strongmans and fake gym youtubers which lift 1000kg on tiktoks. This is the bigs boys yard.
We only have one man to break that record and hes the bloat-lord himself, @Kyriakos Kapakoulak 💪
I think if anyone has the physical potential to pull 505, it's Tom Stoltman. Just depends if he decides he wants it.
This sport is very good 👍😊
Thank you.
Caucasus. These mountains between two seas give rise to strong men in any single combat.
Nasty bicep tear
He was just below the knees like. Which is ferociously strong
Макаров сначала Россию представлял, потом, когда стало выгодно Украину, сейчас Грузию. Политическая...спортсмен в общем
Official record almost breaked with 5kg. It will someday. But i remember one time when one guy break official record 35kg... legend.
to get it off the ground is a feat in itself!
Eddie and Thor had true reasons to pull over 500kg which made them successful. Eddie wanted to prove to all the haters that pulling 500kg is possible and Thor had beef with Eddie, so he wanted to best him at all cost. Both pulled fairly fast off the ground which makes you think they could've done 505kg easy. At this point it's just to break a record.
I hope people are starting to realize that even though done out of competition, lifting 501kg is simply incredible. It doesn't matter which setting
I think Thor could have pulled 505 the day he pulled 501. I don't know if he ever will. I don't think he wants to get that huge again?
It's is current goal to build back to a 505kg deadlift. He did announce that a couple of weeks ago on his Instagram.
@@TwilightOperativeno he didnt, as a fact he's been saying since he came back to stringman that he will probably never went to bulk back to 200kg bodyweught. Ut's just some youtune channel doing some click ait titles out of thin air.
when i see someone taking so long to setup i immediately think "this dude ain't doing it"
The BEAST just left the chat.
There was only guy Thor who could lift even 525 in his prime, half of a ton is a just dream for guys still. Stay strong.
Bro, Makarov is only 32? I thought he was close to his 50's judging by his face
juice will do that to you
Hafthor Bjornsson is still the champ, he needs to make a comeback to strongman.
No i'm the champ! I did 503kg at my home gym, my dad weighed the plates and all my friends and family witnessed it. So i'm actually the WR holder
He would be a champ, if he do it on stage

Thor?
Thor beat him in 3y 9m and now Thor is Unbeaten for 3y 4m and counting.

@easteuropeanviking Hi, Can you confirm name of the competition please, where was lifted this WR.
As i remember there was just video from his gym.
Bon courage 💪
If the weights can bend the bar, then what do they think it will do to them?
Someday it'll be broken. Good luck to all the strongmen trying to break it!
Hicks did sooo much better than the other two
how many nationalities has ivan makarow? Russian? Ukrainian? Georgian?
Hahaha I thought the same thing 😆. Next year he will be saudi Arabian 🤣
Does anyone know why weight not increases after few years???
Do those bars every snap ?
These guys can barely bend down to reach the bar because of their suits, but people will still scream that sumo is cheating
Necaise powerlifter for some reason decided to have both conventional and sumo in the same category .... strongman understands that different setups means different record.
It really sucks peiman couldn't attend wsm. I really feel he woulda pulled 505kg.
Absoluter Respekt 💯💯
I just hope someone pulls 505 soon, so we don't have to see the eddie vs thor "who has the legit record" arguments anymore.
Some big company should give at least 2 million dollars as "motivation" prize.
Just imagine 1000lbs pressure pulling your whole body down.
*1,100 lb
Do these guys ever hit the 500 mark in training? What are they maxing out while preparing for this lift?
The Estonian was closer than the others.
Graham hicks got it higher. He brought it exactly to his knees
@@detachedloop1004true, but heinla’s lockout is much stronger. If he gets it past his knees he’s locking out. Hicksy’s lockout isn’t quite as strong
How many ppl attempted 500+ kg dead lift?
These competitors still don't get it, it's all about body weight power💪 Eddie and Thor were way heavier than these competitors when the lifted more than 500kg.
Only a vegan natty(or a natty vegan) can do it!
Wrong 😅
yeah i was thinking that's definitely a factor. These athletes are 140/150kg. I dont think it's physically possible.

This is the 21st Century's Sword in the Stone.
Whats the max thats physically possible on a deadlift?
501 by thor for now let's see if someone raises the bar
That's a strange question. Do you mean a deadlift weight that cannot possibly be exceeded by a human in the same way the speed of light can never be exceeded? Do you mean some law of physics that sets an upper limit on a human's bench press?
@@Luckygun6513 literally
@@EinSofQuester i'm thinking there must be a weight where, the discs rupture, the fibres start to tear and the neural impulses are at the maximum amplitude. There gotta be a biological limit on whats possible like when Major form ghost in the shell deadlifted a tank.

Nice joke😂
Thor lift 500+kg in home gym but never lift such weight in international competition😅. Why??...
Bienvenue bon courage
Anyone else think this commentator sounds the same as the commentator for arm wrestling
The comp was a bit focused too much on pulling the world record. It would have been a better battle if the athletes just went for their real maxes and battled it out, in stead of trying to get prize money for a lift they were clearly not ready for yet
Yeah agreed
I mean the event is literally called the World Deadlift Championships. It was clearly advertised as going for the 505 record, and athletes knew that. If they didn't want to attempt the record they could focus on the rest of the competition, which many athletes did do. Eddie Hall set his record back in the 2016 World Deadlift Championship as well, which was parts of Europe's Strongest Man.
💪💪Eddie lifted 500 and looked fucked afterwards. Thor lifted 501 and made it look easy. Graham Hicks is a favourite but maybe next year💪💪
Will be fun to see!
Eddie was fucked up because he held it (god knows why) for a long time.
@@vanessaruiz4705 He was attempting to lock out, Eddie never did lock his knees, but his business partner who was the judge of the event gave him the lift anyway.
Why Thor is not coming in international competition for lift 505kg ?...Why??.
He lift weight in his home gym. But never in international competition 😅
Eddie will go down in history as the first man to deadlift 500kg. "I was the first man to deadlift 505kg" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
So i managed 150kg dead lift tonight with video evidence. I only weigh 70kg I've not done deadlift for years but enjoyed taking on the challenge. Mind over matter dont be defeated youll get there you've just gotta persevere. You'll do 505kg just keep at it 💪 mad though thats over half a tonne 😂😂 absolute beast
Forgetting to tighten ones belt for a max attempt, what a grief.
I think if Graham hadn't pulled his hamstring 2 weeks out and had done the 470 Deadlift beforehand he would have got it no problem
Anatoly shows up and asks....Can I clean here???
Wasn’t to be this year, there is always next year
I believe Pavlo has it. He just keeps getting nerfed by the universe lol
Every one of them had an uneven pull, with the left side lagging behind, faulty platform? weights? bar?
Аллилуйя 🙌🙏😄
They seem to have too much of a casual attitude about it. They don’t hype everyone up. When Eddie did 500 they were really lifting him up for it, but with each attempt at 505 they’re not hyping it up anymore than an opening lift. What Eddie and Thor did was special. No one’s gonna be doing that for a long time
They would smash this record easily on the moon.
And all I can see with these attempts is Eddies nosebleed.
Makarov should continue to train heavy bloc pulls, it really paid off!!
Макарову надо прекращать этим заниматься. Его предел 475-485. Он больше не поднимет. Все уже возраст не позводит.
Gym lifts doesnt count
