wasn't franz ferdinand the guy that died and started WWI?
Yeah, Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The heir to the Austrian-Hungarian throne.
Yes. He was assassinated.
So if he's dead.....THE BAND IS AN IMPOSTOR!!!
pat duckets O_O good song though
Michael Reed Not a song...
>dizzying tempo
>135 BPM
Pick one
she's clearly never heard of Slayer lol
Portedrea lmao, 00-0-000-0000000-000-00000-0000-0
Portedrea And Pantera.Their las album was in 2000,and all the songs from that album have better riffs than any other song from this list.So yeah.
MULGARATH97 If you put it that way Rust in Piece by Megadeth destroys all the riffs ever made in the 90's and 2000's
agreed
plug in baby was my favourite
If I don't find Muse in here, I riot.
There is
""A dizziying tempo of 135 bpm"
...:/
what do you mean?
135 bpm is an average tempo speed.
+Josh Hunter I know, right...
+Josh Hunter It's faster than that, it's gotta be wrong.
+Josh Hunter as soon as i heard that i was like "ha thats cute"
Before I Forget, B.Y.O.B., The pretender, American Idiot, Savior, Blinded in Chains, Take It Out On me.
Everlong is 1997
si lo se me confundi xD !!
B.Y.O.B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
R3B8 if that Savior belong Rise Aganist , HELL YEAH !! Also Linkin Park should be fine too or even Alter Bridge !
Si tienes razon, pero no me gusta mucho linkin park, pero si tiene muy buenos riffs
Plug in baby is one of the best riffs of all time, not only the 2000s.
no its not calm down
It’s not
@@kingsleyodyssey4933 cap
Seven nation army gets way more praise than it'll ever deserve.
Agreed
The lack of metal bands on this list is disturbing.
all metal riffs sound the same anyway
Yeah... but what did you expect?
smithwick1710 Not even remotely.
Blind Guardian - Nightfall
Necrophagist - Fermented Offal Discharge.
Do they sound the same?
smithwick1710 you're obviously not a metal fan
Because heavy metal is dead.
Seriously WatchMojo, you guys have GOT to do a Bass riffs video. Supermassive Black Hole needs some recognition for it's killer base line.
Me thinks Hysteria was more popular among bass players.
what about panic station?
Maria Cheska It's based on last decade.
oh yeah. but it does have a good funky bass line.
there are so much better bass lines. To me, the bast bass song ever is Primus: Wynona's big brown weaver.
Muse should have been number 1. They have so many amazing riffs.
how are the strokes only an honorable mention?
lintang aditya It's Auschshitz
They have the best guitar riffs. Even better than muse. There are two top notch guitarists in the strokes and their riffs are pure gold.
Shashwat Srivastava you don’t seem to know what it’s about.
Glad Plug In Baby made it on here. That riff is catchy as hell.
Agreed! And I can think of at least 10 other Muse songs that could be on this list!
Hysteria has a damn good riff as well
LOVEWhispersUK Imagine a top 10 of songs with awesome bass guitar. Although only one Muse song would have been picked, already think about all these awesome songs where the bass guitar is something on its own and the guitar adds an additional layer: Muscle Museum, New Born, Hyper Music, Plug In Baby, Feeling Good, Time Is Running Out, Hysteria, Starlight, Uprising, Panic Station... But also B-sides and rarities, not to forget Jimmy Kane. One of the sexiest bass lines of Muse! In a top 10 with multiple artists, it would most probably have been Hysteria. By the way, is Absolution also your favorite Muse album? ;)
LOVEWhispersUK ...If any of course :P
Hysteria shines in the bass line
Plug in Baby has one of the greatest riffs in history.
Amen!!
Especially that last riff alongside Bellamy's falsetto, pure 'bliss'!
Plug in Baby was actually elected nr 1 guitar riff of all time (but i dont know if that was nationally or globaly)
Btw, in that same thing, Hysteria was elected greatest bass riff of all time
Gran Arow Muse forever!! :D
No-one Knows and Plug in Baby > Seven Nation Army
Damn right.
Naah. At least not Plug in Baby. I've never really liked it.
plug in baby is amaze
which is more iconic? bluff yourselves
they said they were going to consider skill, and seven nation army requires no skill, it was a creative riff though
Seriously, where is the Audioslave?????
Omg how can I forget be yourself
+Boltzmann88 My point being that leaving out one of the major producers of riff based rock in the period seems odd, especially considering a couple of the acts that are on the list. Thanks for explaining how a top ten list works though, I was really confused about that.
+Sifuben fucking absolutely right!!
I think show me how to live trumps seven nation army big time
> half the population of the world would like to disagree with you.
Seven Nation Army is an international anthem at this point...
This list starts allright... then it gets pretty shitty. Then MUSE starts to play and saves it. Then number one... Oh WatchMojo, why?
LOL Muse saves the list? i read your comment before watching the video, and after watching the video i think the Muse its way to high in the rank list, the white stripes deserve the #1, but i do agree this top 10 in general its bad.
Jason n That's a matter of preference. The white stripes is awesome, but I just like Muse better LOL. I do agree that it's too high on the list, though. Most of the riffs that came before muse on this list should never be there to begin with :/
Marcos Diógenes I think these are based on votes by people who go on their site. Not sure because i've never done it
Jason n
in wich way does seven nation army deserve to be #1??? mediocre riff with mediocre drums... thats not a milestone... there were some cool riffs in the 2000... but you have to search for them ;)
is actually a pretty solid list, you are one of those that just like metalcore and stuff like that, aren't you?
Holy shit, seeing Dream Theater on this list was refreshing.
Rollin GraNolan aye
Rollin GraNolan YAHH O.K REDICULESS!!!!!!!
Rollin GraNolan DREAM I MEAN!!!!
I was about to lose it if Plug in Baby wasn't on here
+Robert Durst Personally I think Newborn is a better riff.
Personally think that Snow ((Hey Oh)) is more technically challenging to get right than most of these...
A great riff isn't always about how hard (or easy) it is to play.
the list isn't "most technically challenging riffs"
Scar tisseu is better then snow.
+Willem+ scar tissue is on the californication album which was released in 1999
Totally one of the most memorable riffs of the 00's
Blood And Thunder - Mastodon, perfect balance of groove, Brutality and Catchy
+Jack Towers The melodic riff in that is quality.
+Jack Towers and no mention of oblivion or curl of the burl
+Jack Towers Mastodon have some of the best riffs out there right now, most of them crushing most of the stuff on this list and it's hard to pick a favourite, but as a representative choice Blood and Thunder propably works best.
+Jack Towers yeah exactly that. i was thinking of blood and thunder
Todesnuss Lol, Mastodon's riffs pale in comparison to Tech Death bands.
no 2000s era foo fighters riff? XP
+Nuki Atienza yea i know.. this list is kind of bad.. no foo at all!
+Nuki Atienza exactly what i was thinking
at least Dave made an appearance, but i totally agree!
+Nuki Atienza yeah there shouldnt be
And I though I was the only one thinking about this now i know I'm not alone
135 bpm isnt that fast watchmojo....
thank you
you're telling me. my marching bands show this year starts at 220bpm
+Kazdan Booker exactly. we start out our shows at at least 180 every year
+Kazdan Booker Dang, that's fast lol. Our show goes up to 194 bpm but I think that's as fast as we'll go this year
Exactly. But regardless, speed and tempo aren't the same thing. A riff played at 90 bpm with a picking pattern of 16th notes would be faster than a riff played at 170 bpm picked at eighth notes. Watchmojo would have been better off leaving bpm out of this.
I dont think Mr brighside has a better guitar riff than Cant Stop.
yeah lol
I don't its the point to actually rank them. These people know nothing of actual musical talent. It's just pointing out the most memorable from those years.
Joshua Glenn how does know musical talent then drake? no
Bakin 8 the riff in Cant Stop is just amazing. like..theres no riff anywhere that sounds like that. its so cool.
You can populate this entire list with RHCP songs
That muse riff is killer!
Damn straight
Hysteria is better
Pretty much all muse riffs are killers
mr brightside
I'm suprised 'Are you gonna be my girl?" didn't make an appearance?
+ThatOther Guy that's because it's a blatant rip off of "Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop
+Ryan Kats Which was a blatant rip off of a song from the 50's.
+Christian Goyette what song?
EXACTLY! when they say 'best guitar riffs' that means the most catchy or memorable, as they said themselves, and take me out, reptilia, ruby, and are you gonna be my girl shouldve been the top 5, not necessarily in that order
+MichaelG yeah. that franz ferdinand song didn't even matter
Try playing 7 Nation Army in any guitar shop around the world without having things thrown at you.
+Jamie McGuire Doesn't mean it's not good. Stairway to Heaven is universally frowned on in guitar shops, but it's one of the most instantly recognisable guitar riffs around.
KRSsven No Stairway Denied
plug in baby > Seven nation army
wrong - Donald Trump, 2016
As a huge white stripes fan
I completely agree
first. god i hate muse. second as much as i liked seeing death from above in a list, none of their songs have a guitar. its all bass.
Well, it's a bass "guitar" isn't it? So still a guitar.
Signed,
KG
well then your list should have more bass guitar riffs instead of just one....
irotinmyskin a "riff" is typically the main hook in the song. DFA used a bass guitar to provide the main hook in their song. Riffs also need to be melodic; there are melodic bass players, Paul McCartney probably being the most cited but they are few. A melodic bass line cannot be considered the same thing as a riff however, if it is not the hook in the song. So few melodic bass players out there, and fewer bands using the bass as their lead instrument means no, we shouldn't have included more bass lines.
Signed,
KG
WatchMojo.com it would be a lick if its a bass not a riff
WatchMojo.com Just so you know, where is DragonForce? System of a Down? Come on WM, you guys had to have KNOWN that they should have been on here, because lets be honest, people don't know good guitar these days.
What? No Tool!?
Thinking same
Tjaart Blignaut worst list ever
Tjaart Blignaut well i want to complain too but i realized this list is about GUITAR riff not BASS riff :p
Guy Mann What about Death from Above? Their a Bassist and a drummer, Should be no spot on there for them then in the Honorable mentions
Tjaart Blignaut This is a top 10 list.
Tool has 46 and 2 ahead of them.
Ummm. Sorry, but Vicarious by Tool's intro riff kind of wins this one. With the exception of Plug in Baby of course.
Fuck yes. Somebody that knows what they're talking about.
EvilLadderGaming Thanks, my man
I really, really don't like Tool... but hell, that riff's badass :D
Andres Mayorga Fuck yeah, man!
when was it released???
Reptilia in the HM?? Bye Watchmojo
ikr? Even should be in the top 5
REALLY? I'm not even finishing the video. Thank you
Don't miss these other riff-tastic videos!
Top 10 Classic Rock Guitar Riffs
Top 10 Heavy Metal Guitar Riffs
Top 10 Hard Rock Guitar Riffs
Top 10 Band Guitarists
Can you please do top 10 Big Brother Houseguests?
I really like Do I Wanna Know's Riff
Brendan Lucas that's in the 2010's.
Robert Nelson one of my favorites
SuperSixCereals Dr. Will for #1! And I love Ian.
As a musician this list is a slap in the face.
MrTwodogshumping Musician huh? And you find Plug In Baby a slap in the face? Even though it's very VERY similar to a part from a Bach song?
Yes. There's better examples of riffs that rock.
MrTwodogshumping Lol, you're not a musician until others say you are. Just because you can play along to Stairway to heaven and play the pentatonic scale doesn't make you a musician.
You have absolutely no idea what I've done musically. Been on tour for months at a time and had some great Times opening up for big names acts. Been signed on to real labels and lived the life. I own a PRS guitar with an Orange head, Gibson Grabber bass with a sliding pickup that I play through an 1980's Ampeg and 118x210 peavey cab. Yes. I'm a musician. Plus I've never learned the chords for SWTH
Ill take that as a complement :)
"With his gentle strumming...Reggae feeling"...Do you even music?
Even Muse is one of the biggest bands un the last 2 decades their first albums are so underrated.
WatchMojo are better at music than MTV
Thank you.
WatchMojo.com You should have your own tv channel.
Tbh, anything can be better than that Moronic TV.
***** well, they even removed the line "music television" under the logo, so... you know what i mean.
YEAH FUCKING MUSE FUCK YEAH FUCK FUCK FUCK WAHOOO YEAH UH WOOP IM SO FUCKING PROUD OF MY BABIES
every time I find a video mentioned muse i see you in the comment section.
you are everywhere 😂
Shahad Altalib I have to otherwise i dont get paid
+wispina I think i saw you before lol.
:D
+wispina lol muse is amazing :D
Muse best be on here
PLUG IN BABY YES
*Sees Muse in the thumbnail*
*Instantly clicks on*
Uhhhh...
Pretty sure that's Josh Homme in the No One Knows video
@@iliketrains3495 yes it is
What about soad chop suey!?!?!?
Or byob
+xKson or toxicity
i agree
+4mutinyofpreverts2 system of a down is not nu metal
its metal from the new age , that makes it new metal (nu metal) and they have some songs that arent nu metal
"a dizzying tempo of 135 bpm" really?? I'm in 9th grade band and we play band songs that are around 160 bpm sometimes...
I cover a lot of death metal and black metal (not on RUclips because fuck the music community), so I'm looking at 200-300 BPM.
+Trent Stines 200+ bpm music is just noise. Fuckin Garbage.
Scorch428
My point exactly. I can't deal with the music community on RUclips or the Internet in general. You are a part of it and you make me want to have a mental breakdown.
Trent Stines Thank you so very much for letting me be a part of it.
+Trent Stines I understand why your point about the music community. It's like when the "metal elitists" shout that the clean vocals are for pussies, but the growls are talentless...
Like for Red Hot Chili Peppers
Snow could easily be #1
What about Through the Fire and Flames?
Luke Einstein nah that's more of just the beginning
Dank Krabz AND THE END :
This lists are so inaccurate, how in the hell does Seven Nation Army, the easiest riff to play in the world rank higher than, oh I don't know, every other song on this list.
+DarkestofTimes because music isn't about how difficult it is to play
felix knott Sorry I misinterpreted the point of the video.
"For this list we've chosen one song per artist, and stuck to what we felt were their most signature, memorable, and/or *skilled* guitar riffs released in the early 2000's" - MatchMojo.com
***** none of these riffs were chosen for the technical skill it takes to play otherwise it would have just been full of shredders. Anyway it may not take a "skilled" guitarist to play seven nation army but it is undoubtably one of the most memorable and "signature" riffs of the 2000's.
+felix knott that's true, but then how do you explain The Dark Eternal Night?
***** It isn't a bad sounding riff and tbh it isn't the most technically difficult thing to play either. I'm not saying any beginner guitarist could play it but it wouldn't take an expert and there are definitely more difficult riffs probably some by dream theatre that could have been picked over it in terms of technical difficulty.
unholy confessions > beast and the harlot
Eternal rest better than both.
Second heartbeat?
yea that too
goman335 yepyepyepyep
Zadawn Unholy Confessions is a rip off of Spirit Crusher
Watch.Mojo got something right.
Muse #2.
I would also said Stockholm Syndrome, but eh.
Was about to hit dislike until number 2 😀
Ikr 😂
Same 😹😹
well its a watchmojo music list, muse had to come up at somepoint, i think one of their writers is a muse fan, and hell i dont blame em.
+Awsemome Julian Same.
i think u are going to stop at 4
i think plug in baby should be first , i get that seven nation army has the easy to learn factor , and sounds pretty good in combination with the drums, but still, plug in baby it's more complex and in my opinion cooler. sorry for the sudden fanboy XD
+ThePsycho221 Seven Nation Army is #1 because this riff is very popular. Plug in baby is #2 because this song is not very known unfortunately. But technically, Plug in baby is better by far if you compare with Seven Nation Army.
"at a dizzying tempo of 135bpm"
me: /exits youtube/
me: /enters spotify/
me: /plays john 5's entire discography/
Alrighty im just going to say this before im going to watch the video
Seven nation army is going to be on this list
As a hardcore Muse fan, I agree with #1 is 7 nation army, it is such a memorable riff
No system of a down? What the hell
I know right...Its one of my favorite bands. The Toxicity album was what got me into them. Chop Suey has a beautiful intro so it should of been there.
DragonWarrior7771 Chop Suey, Mezmerize, Deer dance, question!, basically every single song is amazing!
Corrupted I agree.
BYOB. Nuff said. A chilling intro and is epic in general. I rate its riff 10/10
Who? Nevermind I already know they suck
Why not top ten porno star's?
i have been ask for top ten ron jeremy performances several times and nothing.
thats for watchmojo....AFTER DARK
Lol
*****
nope,being serious is boring mate.
Great suggestion.
i swear if seven nation army is number one...
OH COME ON YOUVE GOT TO BE KIDDING
whats your problem with that?
dahellish The song is shitty.
okay,its your opinion
It's iconic of this decade, get over it, it's a good tune
No Foo Figthters ... strange :/
Right? I guess their best stuff is in the late 90's /:
#3 - Queens of the Stone Age - Dave Ghrol was the drummer, so technically he is here :)
Learn To Fly,Times Like These,DOA,Long Road To Ruin etc all awesome songs.
Awesome songs? Yes. Iconic riffs? no... Well except maybe for Bridge Burning and Everlong
BeeryGamer well who cant recognise the riff from the start of pretender
So I assume we're all just gonna ignore the fact that they left out Down With The Sickness by Disturbed
im not watching MoJO anymore bcs of that. im so pissed off...
plus the bridge destroys that song
+Crunchy Oreo I feel like that would be more of a drumming thing
+Andrew Dunleavy I agree
That riff is pretty weak, come on...
This list sucks in the first place, but what particularly shocks me that there was not even a SINGLE MENTION of ANY System Of A Down. How the hell do you miss something like Chop Suey or BYOB? Both of which are song that should of easily broken the top 10.
i love system of a down and through that i love you :D
Point A, I have played guitar. I have a good amount of experience. Secondly, Smoke On The Water is one of the first songs I ever learned on the guitar. That riff has been heard world wide. You don't have to have a hard riff to make a good riff. It can be simple. Wrisles
+Wrisles a riff from the guitar standpoint is a melody with the use of chordal shapes(maj. min. triads), double stops, or single notes. or it could be a fusion of all. most riffs don't use full major or minor chords. they usually use power chords, but there are always exceptions. a lick on the other hand uses only single note patterns and maybe double stops from time to time, depending on the artists choice of notes. a lick is what most people are confusing a riff for. a riff is just ment to be the main melody of a song. a riff is badass and heavy.
+kidnapping pranks GONE SEXUAL I'm giving best SoaD riff to "Prison Song". All of the are great, but I feel that one is the best.
+Trent Stines
I give it to all their songs. This list is pretty light stuff and more alternative/popish so that's probably why they didn't have any SoaD. At least for the most part. Slither is pretty good. Rip Scott
American Idiot, Chop Suey, Wicker Man, Scream Aim Fire, Woman, I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Down With the Sickness, plus a number of Foo Fighters, Linkin Park songs could and should have easily made at least honourable mentions. If you're talking about popularity and success then some of those completely dwarf some of the choices here.
+Trung Hieu Yeah, it was the first riff to come to mind when I thought of ones they'd missed. It's very memorable, from an award winning and bestselling album and definitely deserves a spot. You might disagree with the last part of that sentence but you can't deny it has the credentials.
Linkin Park guitar riffs are not that hard but are fun to play and listen to, but I think One Step Closer is the best riff of them
Darkness suck balls and as much as I like Linkin Park they're not really a band for riffs so don't belong here
the ending guitar riff in easy target by blink-182 honestly changed my life
The artwork in some of these videos was pretty creative, watchmojo should have a top 10 most artistic music videos. I believe that already have something of the sort, but correct me if I'm wrong I don't think they have one from an artistically creative standpoint.
I could see take on me being near the top of that list as it was #2 on the top ten music videos of all time
No Metallica? Death Magnetic is filled with BRUTAL riffs, like "All Nightmare Long" and "That Was Just Your Life". Slipknot should be on the list too ("Before I Forget" or "Psychosocial")
Psychosocial was in the honorable mentions, I was glad that they were in the video
Saint Anger and Beyond Magnetic both had crazy riffs too.
Daniel Perry We don't like to speak of those here sir.
Early 2000s only!!
Slipknot atleast made an honorable mention makes me happy. And Metallica to.
an Hystera by Muse,....and Blood and Thunder ???
Lalo Mella Hysteria is actually with a bass. I hate Muse, but I like Hysteria
Hyder Baig so you hate Muse? Can i know why?
+Alberto Di Deo It's not that uncommon for people to like Hysteria even if they dislike Muse
Where's Blood and fucking Thunder?
ik
Honestly, Citizen Erased is my favorite Muse guitar riff. I started off hating it, but came to love it.
The Pot by Tool puts every riff in this video to shame.
for me the bass riff in the song is far more memorable tho. Still a better guitar riff than something like Mr. Brightside which is as generic as a guitar riff can be let's be honest.
Fuck yea!
Lateralus and Parabola had much better riffs and feeling to it. I always felt The Pot was a bit of recycled riffs to reach the masses.
fuel20 badass anyways.
Yeah it's good, but these ones are better.
Glad to see Queens of The Stone Age getting some recognition, such an underrated band
I missed Revolution Is My Name from Pantera...
Top 10 Basslines of the 2000's ! :P
Hysteria - Muse!
syndddd
Yeah there'd be no one else even close
syndddd One of my all time favorite bass riffs.
Last Nite
That would just be another Top Ten Muse Songs... :P
If Seven Nation Army isn't number 1 this list is wrong,
if it is then it's obvious, maybe some surprise would be cool.
Seven nation army has too simple and repetitive of a guitar riff. Of course i am biased because i don't like the white stripes. Still i don't think it's deserving of #1 based on the riff alone.
Seven nation army did deserve to win jack white is so talented I went to his concert at deer lake park and he sounds so good live
Max Galbraith
I do not believe he is all that talented. I think the fact that these are all riffs that are merely popular really waters down the talent in this list. I think songs like "keeping pace with planes" - conditions, "Voices" -saosin, "faces" - sksk, "smile in your sleep" all have much better riffs from a technical standpoint. Popular does not = good.
seven nation army has no complexity to it, so they are just going off of popularity on that one.
I love this list. RHCP, A7x, the killers, dream theatre, the strokes, slipknot, and muse 👌
Seven Nation Army deserved that #1 spot for sure. Yes, it's easy to play, but it's instantly recognizable and by far the most influential. Even people who can't name what song it's from have heard that riff.
No rise against?no disturbed?NO DRAGONFORCE?
All shite and lame
you should prolly go to their website and vote next time
why would disturbed even belong here??
Iron Maiden - Dance of Death (2003) ?
that's awesome.
I would have hoped for No More Lies.
Christian McGuire
also great

WatchMojo.com Need Top 10 Post-2000 Maiden songs..It was dominated completely by their 80s work which I agree with but many good songs were left out from the newer albums(like Dance of Death)
Total Guitar voted the Plug in baby riff as the 13th best of all-time in 2004. And the #1 ultimate guitar riff of the 2000s.
this video got me into the strokes, and year later they are one of my fav bands, thanks mojo
Where's TOOL??? yea...they don't have any riffs worth mentioning... even an honorable mention??
I was happy to see dream theater, but still...
+steven cross They could easily fill every spot on this list. Schism, The Pot, Aenema, Stinkfist, Sober, Parabol/Parabola, Prison Sex, 46 & 2, Lateralus, Pushit...
+Kraig Adkins aenema, 46 & 2, stinkfist, sober and prison sex were from the 90's, not the 2000's. still badass riffs that deserve a spot on at least one of these stupid ass lists
+Kraig Adkins i was thinking the pot should definitely be on this list.
+steven cross Yeh, how the fuck can Schism not be in there. Or a few other songs which were far better than anything on the list....and I'm not even much of a Tool fan.
Top 10 songs with the same name
While i think Mr. Brightside has a great guitar riff, the Killers have so many better ones. The solo in "Smile Like you Mean it" is amazing, and of course "When you were young"
You can't have music without muse
Not a single track from Lateralus? For shame, madam
I was looking for someone who tought that like me :O I mean Schism should be there...way better than seven nation shit
***** Parabola. Vicarious. Even Rossetta Stoned.
Doesn't seem WatchMojo is much into an alternative rock/metal genres.
Blah, blah, blah mainstream and commercially successful songs. There are Alter Bridge, Pantera, Tool, Amon Amarth, Exodus, Nevermore, Machine Head, and Testament riffs that SHIT on these. Let's hope there's a Top 10 METAL Riffs of the 2000s list.
newabortion515 Alter Bridge!!!!!!! :D
The Adventure should have been here
And Icky Thump has a far better riff than Seven Nation Army
+Jack agreed. when i clicked on this video, i expected to see icky thump somewhere, seven nation army didn't cross my mind.
And the music video for Fell in Love With A Girl is probably one of the best ones I know of
SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS! I knew icky thump before the white stripes
But the lead riff is a electronic keyboard
Santi Bolso are you talking about angels and airwaves?
Definitely would have picked "Knights of Cydonia" as the Muse track.
Everyone knows Seven Nation Army... But my favorite always would be PLUG IN BABY!
They included Death From Above AND Queens Of The Stone Age. My two favorite bands, and the two bands that influlenced my playing style and musical direction most. I am beyond happy.
1. Switchfoot - Meant To Live
2. 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
3. System Of A Down - Chop Suey
4. Creed - One Last Breath
5. Weezer - Hash Pipe
6. Sum 41 - Fatlip
7. Godsmack- I stand alone
8. The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
9. Slipknot - Duality
10. Audioslave - Like a stone

g tpp i bet you only played guitar 2-3 years
g tpp great list, but I must add BYOB by System of a Down
And where the fuck is muse? NO MUSE? FUCK YOU M8
Cassidy Rujano muse sucks deal w/i
I feel like MCR should've been an honorable mention
Lmao
lol
i'm sorry, but they're not that good on guitar compared to these. and i promise i do like mcr.
+cakeless coder Bullshit coming from someone who doesn't know guitar. I never liked MCR but their guitarist certainly is better than what you hear in No One Knows and other Queens of the Stone Age songs. MCR's guitarist is actually better than many others. Jack White's songs can be learned very early on when you learn how to play guitar. Many guitar teachers actually will teach Seven Nation Army to beginners.
MyHeadAsplodes i know how to play guitar (have been playing on/off for a couple of years), but the riffs in this were far more memorable (at least to me) then MCR. Don't get me wrong, MCR is fucking amazing, and the guitarist is great, but something like seven nation army is far more memorable, and I could play it for hours, same as some MM riffs that just kick ass. Although, on second viewing I will say MCR deserved the spot that A7X have.
does Mr Brightside even HAVE a guitar riff? Must be pretty memorable.
Not technically, but the guitar part in the song is amazing.

An. S. why should i shut up? it has one of the most simple riffs i have known, and even the SOLO has the same riff
Infinity Well, I want to see you playing the guitar like Jack White. And create a riff so good and relevant like SNA
An. S. *obvious lets see you do better comment is obvious*
Love the list! Big Coheed and Cambria and Muse fan. I'd do anything for it to be 2004 again
"Take me out" shouldve been #1. One of the memorable and popular riffs of ALL TIME.
"Last Resort" by Papa Roach should have been included... That was one of the most memorable riffs of the decade!
Hearing Beast and The Harlot on this was refreshing because I was raised listening to stuff like that. My uncle was a guitarist and my great grandma was very musical.
New Born by Muse has such a hard hitting riff
I think "check my brain" by Alice in Chains deserved a place in that list but whatever..
Top 10 Rise Against songs?
Yes!!
***** I'm partial to Survive.
Yes, we green lit that a few weeks ago. In progress. File under: We listen to you ;)
